Rory was still hugging Chloe, who was very confused. Rory pulled away and asked, "Do you have any ice cream?" "Ice cream?" Chloe asked back. Rory nodded as she walked to the kitchen, "Yeah. You always have ice cream in here." Chloe replied, "Um, I guess, in the freezer." Rory opened the freezer and got out ice cream, "Yes! It's so good to see you, Mom. Want some?" "I'm OK, thanks," Chloe replied. Rory shrugged, "OK. Suit yourself. Today has been the worst day. I came all this way, and I can't believe he reacted like that. I mean, I can. He's Lucifer, but then there's Carlos, Lucifer's son that I never knew he had. Thought it was just me…."
Chloe interrupted, "Wait, are you the girl from Lucifer's penthouse? His daughter?" Rory looked at Chloe, "And yours, Mom." Chloe chuckled, "I'm sorry, you keep calling me Mom, but, um, I only have one daughter. Her name is Trixie, and, um, it would be quite hard to miss a pregnancy. I mean, I'm not trying to be rude, but, um…." Rory interrupted, "Right. Yeah, of course. Come on, Rory, this sounds frickin' crazy. Sorry, I just….I felt…I just felt so lost, even after that Carlos tracked me down somehow and forced me to confess some things, don't know how he did that, and I thought that coming home would maybe….I don't know. Never mind. I shouldn't have done this. I will go." Rory tried to put the ice cream away, but Chloe stopped her, "Wait, hold on. What did you say your name was?" "Rory," Rory answered. "Short for…." "Aurora," both Rory and Chloe said at the same time. Chloe said, "If I ever had another daughter, that's what I was gonna name her. Aurora. I've never told anybody that before. Are you really my daughter? I don't understand." She walked over and hugged Rory, who reciprocated it. Chloe pulled away, "I can't imagine what you're going through, or how any of this is possible." Rory chuckled, "It's complicated, Mom."
Carlos was still watching the interaction of Chloe and Rory in his mirror. "I need to talk to Dad," Carlos told Dude as he ran to the elevator to take up to the penthouse. The doors opened and Lucifer was sitting out on the balcony drinking his whiskey after having just talked to Dan and he turned around, "Carlos. There you are. I wanted to talk to you about….Wait, what's wrong?" Carlos held up his mirror, "I talked to the woman who came here. Didn't get much out of her. But now I tracked her as she said she was going to her mother's house. And I just found out who her mother is."
The next day over at LAPD, Amenadiel was in the conference room looking over multiple files and books. He heard Dan sigh, "Are you done yet? Can we hang already, please?" Amenadiel looked up from the file he was reading, "Dan, how long have you been….You know what? Never mind. My final exam is tomorrow, man. I have to study." Dan smirked, "Ah, come on, man. You're gonna ace it! Take it from a seasoned cop. Look, you've already learned everything you're gonna learn from the manual. What you need to do is focus on your weak spots." "Weak spots?" Amenadiel asked. "What weak spots?" Dan sighed, "No offense, man. It's just, look, I'm saying, there's book smart and then there's street smart. For example, how do you make sure that you get all the good assignments at roll call?" "Aren't they all just assignments?" Amenadiel asked, as he started to notice cops outside the room looking at him weirdly as only he could see Dan at the moment. "No," Dan whispered. "You sneak Sergeant Kennedy a corned beef on rye the day before, and I have no idea why I'm whispering because no one can hear me. And you gotta avoid squad car 23 because they never fixed the transmission. That's important." Amenadiel sighed, "Dan, I know you're just trying to help. Buddy, I really do. But I'm gonna figure these things out on my own." Dan retorted, "But isn't it easier and way more fun to pick my brain? Huh? Say, over a couple of beers? You drink, and I try to remember what the buzz felt like?" Amenadiel sighed, "I would like that, Dan. I really would. But right now you have to leave because you're making me look crazy." Dan realized, "Oh, right. You see, it's the whole "not having a body" thing. It's hard, you know? I wanna feel like I an do something. You know? Ok, study up, my man. We'll talk later."
Dan walked out, but stopped and said, "But, uh, don't forget…." "Corned beef on rye!" Amenadiel shouted. Dan smirked, "That's the one." He walked away as Ella walked into the room confused. She turned around and shouted, "Oh. Brown rice salmon sushi! Wait, who are we yelling lunch orders to?" Amenadiel tried to think of an answer, but Ella guessed, "Oh, Patterson from Records, right? Aww, it's so nice of him to pick stuff up for us. Thanks, man." Ella walked over to Amenadiel, "Anyway, I've got, um, something crazy important I wanna talk to you about." "Really?" Amenadiel asked. Ella nodded, "It's only the most important investigation of my life. Humungo. The mystery to end all mysteries. Like super-duper important…" Amenadiel interrupted, "Ella! Just calm down a little." Ella took a deep breath and whispered, "Right. It's big, Amenadiel, and I've been waiting to tell someone until I had a concrete clue, which I do now, so drum roll, please. My sock is missing." "Your sock?" Amenadiel was confused. Ella nodded, "Yep. Fourth time this month that one of my socks has flown the coop, and I know what you're thinking. "Oh, that's normal. It happens to everyone," so just biz as uzhe, right? Wrong. I ran a data analysis over a targeted area across several social media platforms and discovered a 7% uptick in people mentioning missing socks. But that's not all! A river in South America turned blood red. Plus, huh, raining frogs? I mean, it's pretty clear. The apocalypse is nigh."
Amenadiel stood up, "Ella, the world is most assuredly not ending." Ella replied, "Amenadiel, this is serious. We could have weeks, days, who knows? I mean…." Amenadiel interrupted, "There's a lot I don't fully understand. Like some of the nonsensical laws in that textbook. But when it comes to things of the cosmic nature, I'm pretty well versed, and if the world were ending, I would feel it." Ella was confused, "Wait, why? Why, I mean, why would you feel it?" Amenadiel realized he revealed too much and lied, 'Well, I wouldn't feel it, you know. I would know it, because, you know, I'm on the Internet a lot. I read everything. Nerd alert!" Ella chuckled, "Right. Yeah. Of course. Thanks for talking me off the ledge." Ella walked away and Amenadiel sighed.
Meanwhile, Chloe took Rory over to the penthouse where Lucifer and Carlos were waiting. Rory huffed, "Of course you're here too, Carlos." Carlos scowled, "Hey, watch the attitude. My dad and I want to hear you out. I told him everything about our talk yesterday. Plus I tracked you to Chloe's house last night, sister. Or should I say little sister." Rory's eyes widened, "What? So you know….." "That you're really from the future?" Carlos finished. "Yeah. Since Chloe is your mom and she's only given birth to Trixie. Makes sense." "Indeed," Lucifer said as he gestured everyone to sit down. "But time travel? I mean, it's had to fully believe that you are from the future." Chloe argued, "I mean, you pull out people's desires. Amenadiel can slow down time. And Carlos can persuade people and also move things with his mind. Is time travel that big of a stretch?" Lucifer sighed, "I suppose, when you put it like that." Rory looked over at Carlos, "So, persuasion and telekinesis is your gift. Interesting." Carlos looked over at Chloe, "Thanks, Chloe. Telling the person I don't trust yet secrets about me." Chloe argued, "Hey, we're all family here. So no secrets." "Yeah," Carlos countered. "But I still don't fully trust her. You know that I have trust issues. I was going to tell her once I trusted her more, so watch what you say." Chloe nodded as she had to obey Carlos' command. Rory hummed, "Interesting."
Lucifer said, "So, Chloe, we have a daughter? We have a daughter. It's amazing." "I know," Chloe replied. Rory cleared her throat, "I'd say "get a room," but well, clearly, you did." "Agreed," Carlos added. "You two need to calm down on the romantic stuff a bit." Lucifer chuckled, "Very good. I'm not sure where to start. I owe you an apology, Rory, for how I reacted last time you were here. You caught me a little off guard, what with the wing to the throat. Regardless, I am sorry. I had a similar reaction when Carlos told me that I was his father as well. It takes time for me to fully process big information like this. But if you're from the future and you're our child, then there must be some mistake." "Why?" Rory asked. "Because I would never abandon you," Lucifer answered.
Rory turned to Chloe, "I told you coming here was a terrible idea." Chloe said, "Lucifer, there's obviously a reasonable explanation for this." Lucifer argued, "No, I'm sorry. It's just not possible. I would never." Rory said, "I don't know what to tell you. I wouldn't be here if you hadn't." "What does that mean?" Lucifer asked. Rory explained, "Before I traveled here, I was going through something big. And I thought, I felt like, if you were ever going to finally show up after being gone my whole life, it would be in that moment. But you didn't. And I felt this rush of pure rage. And then I was here." Chloe realized, "So you self-actualized." Carlos added, "You manifested the ability to travel back in time, because….." "Because of how much I hate Lucifer, yeah," Rory interrupted. "Lucifer, I told you I wanted to kill you. Apparently so much that I traveled through time to do it. But yay me, I failed." "Thankfully," Lucifer sighed. "I agree," Carlos said. "Rory, you do realize that if you actually succeeded, then you could have wiped yourself out of existence." Rory sighed, "I guess you have a point. But still, ever since then, I've been trying to get angry enough to go back to my time, but I can't, so I guess my first jump through time was a one-way trip. But maybe it's for the best. Now I get to see why you walk out on me."
"Would you stop saying that please?" Lucifer asked. "I mean, yes, I suppose in the future I neglected a daughter I didn't know existed, but you're saying I do this knowingly?" "According to Mom, you were well aware of my existence!" Rory shouted. "Unlike your son sitting over there, according to him. The only thing she wouldn't tell me was why you left." Lucifer argued, "Well, who knows what she was hiding then? Maybe she's the one you should be upset with!" Chloe shouted, "Hey! I do not think that this is helping." Lucifer replied, "I'm sorry, but she's accusing me of something that would never happen." Rory stood up, "It did happen! It happened to me." Lucifer stood up, "I don't believe you! Why would I abandon my other child after what happened with my first child? Like you learned from Carlos, I didn't abandon him, I was never told of his existence! That's because he's from another dimension of Earth that I spent one night on." Carlos sighed, "Dad, there you go telling her more secrets about me that I didn't want her knowing about yet." Rory scoffed, "Then maybe that's why you abandoned me. To go off to his Earth to be with him, abandoning not jut me, but Mom too." Carlos stood up, his eyes glowing red, and growled, "Back off! You don't know the full story so you have no right to accuse our father like that!" The room started to shake as Carlos' anger grew, Rory a little stunned by Carlos' show of power.
Chloe stepped in, "Enough. All of you. Carlos, calm down before this place gets destroyed." Carlos closed his eyes and took some deep breaths and calmed down, the room stopped shaking. Chloe turned to Rory, "Rory, just give us a minute, please? Carlos, you too." Chloe took Lucifer by his arm and dragged him over to the bar. Chloe whispered, "Lucifer, you need to calm down. She is hurting." Lucifer scoffed, "She accused me of doing the very thing my father did to me. What I did to Carlos, unintentionally." Lucifer poured himself some whiskey and Chloe asked, "What if it's because you become God?" Lucifer shook his head, "No. My father chose to become distant. I would never choose this. After not being there for Carlos growing up, why would I do the same to my daughter? I just can't think what would be powerful enough to make me do something so…"
Lucifer then thought of something and Chloe asked, "What?" "Oh, that's it," Lucifer said. "What's it?" Chloe asked. "Azrael's blade," Lucifer answered. "It's the only think that can kill-kill me, wipe me from existence. Someone must use it on me in the future. And that is why I abandon her. Plus, she didn't know that Carlos was my son and if I die in the future, Carlos must have stayed in Auradon permanently as he couldn't handle being on this Earth without me here." Chloe nodded, "That could be an explanation." "It's the only explanation," Lucifer argued. "Which means there is a very simple solution to this whole conundrum." "Which is?" Chloe asked. "I return it to Heaven," Lucifer answered. "My sister gets her knife back. We avert a child abandonment issue. It's win-win. Well, lose for you because, you know, bye bye super strength, and, well, super sex, for that matter. Sacrifices must be made. I will not abandon my daughter like Hades did to Mal." He walked over to his safe in his bedroom and Chloe said to herself, "Why would I lose my super strength?" Chloe then ran after Lucifer.
Carlos was watching the interaction between Lucifer and Chloe and saw the look on Chloe's face when she was told that her super strength would be gone. It didn't sit well with Carlos, who thought, "I knew something felt off about Chloe. She's getting too addicted to the super strength. Then it's good that my father is taking it away." "So, you're from another Earth," Rory said from her seat nearby. Carlos turned to her, "Yeah, I guess you were told that a little too soon." Rory chuckled, "I wonder if your Earth is similar or different to this one. Let me guess, your Earth is full of goody-two-shoes magic and unicorns running around?" Carlos said with a deadpan face, "Yeah, along with fairies, kings, queens, and some of the wickedest villains you could ever hope not to meet." Rory asked, "Seriously? Is that a joke?" Carlos shook his head, "Nope. Completely serious." Rory chuckled, "Yeah, right."
Over in Lucifer's bedroom, he was opening his safe when Chloe said, "Hey, Lucifer, uh, why would I lose my super strength?" Lucifer explained, "Well, once the blade is no longer on Earth, Amenadiel's necklace will become deactivated, which means no more Super Chloe." Chloe replied, "Maybe you don't need to take it back. Maybe there's another way." Lucifer scoffed, "What other way?" Chloe smirked, "I think it's time for Detective Decker to make a comeback. We still have one mystery left to solve. The murder of Lucifer Morningstar." Lucifer opened the safe and pulled out the blade and Chloe said, "What are you doing? I told you we can fix this without getting rid of the blade." Lucifer replied, "And much as I appreciate your offer to solve my pending patricide, there's a far simpler solution. No blade, no murder." "What if it isn't the blade?" Chloe asked. "Or what if one of your siblings just brings it back down in a couple of weeks? We would be completely unprepared. Listen, we need to solve the murder itself. That's the key." Lucifer said, "Chloe, you are an excellent detective, but how does one solve a murder that hasn't happened yet? There's no crime scene. There's no evidence. There's no body. Well, there is a body, and it's magnificent, but it's very much alive. There's no witnesses." "That's not necessarily true," Chloe replied pointing to Rory.
Rory was looking at the mini fridge underneath the bar while Carlos was standing on the other side of the bar. Rory commented, "How many different kinds of olives does a dude need?" Lucifer chuckled as he and Chloe walked over, "Clearly I need to teach you the finer art of martinis. Like I am slowly teaching you, Carlos. So that when you are of age, you can make your own." Carlos sighed, "Great." Chloe asked, "Um, Rory, do you mind if I ask you a few questions? I mean, if you're comfortable." Rory sighed, "I don't know what good it's gonna do, but whatever. Better than listening to my brother claim that magic actually exists." Carlos chuckled, "OK, fair point. Here's how I can prove it. Dude! Come here! I know you're hiding underneath the bed."
Suddenly Dude came running out of the bedroom and said, "Aww, man. I was comfortable under there. I thought you couldn't see me." Rory's eyes went wide, "That dog just talked." Carlos nodded, "Yep. Can't seem to stop talking either, unless I command him to. But that's what happens when your half dark fairy, half god friend makes a truth gummy and the dog accidentally eats it." "So you were telling me the truth?" Rory asked. Carlos replied, "Yep. Just the basics. Details are something you have to earn." "So magic is a thing?" Rory asked. Carlos waved his hand, his ring around his neck glowing, and a rose appeared out of thin air. He handed it to Rory, who asked, "Magic? But how?" Carlos nodded and waved his hand and the rose disappeared, "Trade secret. Like I said, you've got to earn the details, sis."
"Back to the matter at hand," Chloe said. "Rory, what do you actually know about your father's disappearance?" "It ruined my life," Rory answered. "Do I really need to know anything else about it?" Carlos commanded, "Rory, just answer her questions with what you know." Chloe asked, "Well, do you know what I was doing or where Lucifer said he was going?" "Or who murdered me?" Lucifer interrupted. Rory chuckled, "That's your theory? Oh, well, sorry to burst your BS bubble, but nothing happened to you. You left." "I agree," Carlos added. "With the murder part. Trust me, I would make sure that my dad doesn't get murdered." Chloe sighed, "Right. Well, we're just trying to make sense of all this. So please tell me anything you know." Rory knew she had to as Carlos commanded her using his powers, so she said, "All you told me was you two were together in Van Nuys, near Tenth and Swanson. Lucifer turned the corner, and you never saw him again." Chloe said, "Well, we have the scene of the crime. That's a great start." Lucifer replied, "But not particularly useful since we don't know when it happens." "August 4th," Rory answered. "Clover's birthday." Lucifer was confused, "Who or what is a Clover?" "A breakfast cereal?" Dude guessed causing Carlos to groan. "My favorite musician," Rory answered. "Her songs slap. Will slap. Trust me." "So this August 4th?" Chloe asked. Lucifer realized, "Well, that's three weeks from now. That must mean…."
"Do you think I could be pregnant right now?" Chloe asked Lucifer. "Maybe it was two nights ago," Lucifer said. "Or the night before that on the balcony, when you were up against the…." Rory interrupted, "Please don't do your sex math in front of me." "Agreed," Carlos added. "It's just gross. At least to us, I guess." Lucifer and Chloe nodded. Rory said, "I don't know exactly when you guys conceived me." Chloe asked, "Can you remember anything else?" Lucifer added, "Yeah, like why on earth would I be in Van Nuys? I wouldn't be caught dead there. Thought apparently I will be. Or could be." Rory asked, "This is how you two work together, isn't it? The famous Mom and Lucifer partnership. I gotta say, you are really carrying him here, Mom. That's all I know." Chloe sighed, "All right, well, we have a future crime scene. Let's get started."
Chloe and Lucifer walked to the elevator as Rory argued, "He didn't die!" "Yes he did!" Lucifer retorted. "I did! Will. Could. Whatever." Rory argued, "Think about it! If you did, Mom would have told me. Because that would have been a good reason for you to leave. But she hid the truth, which means whatever happened must have been pretty shitty." Lucifer growled, "You stay here. I don't want you getting into any trouble." "You're grounding me?" Rory asked. "If that's what you want to call it," Lucifer retorted. "Little late!" Rory shouted. Lucifer shouted back, "Stay here! I'm the one telling you to, so don't make Carlos have to. Because he will, won't you, son?" Carlos nodded, "Yep. I'll look over my little sister." Lucifer and Chloe entered the elevator and left. Rory turned to Carlos, "Whatever. At least your talking dog will keep me entertained." "Sweet!" Dude said. "So can you scratch my butt?" Carlos chuckled as Rory sighed.
Down in Lux, Maze and Eve were going through pictures of different wedding venues. Maze asked, "I mean, don't you think our venue needs, like, spikes or a moat? I mean, spikes and a moat?" Eve said, "Our wedding is going to be spikes and moat-free. I am saving that for the honeymoon." They leaned in to kiss each other when they heard, "Hey, Maze. Hey, Aunt Eve." They looked over and saw Rory walk down the stairs to the bar. Rory asked, "An entire wall of liquor upstairs and it's all just whiskey? Come on, Mama needs a rum." Maze asked, "Who are you?" Rory turned around, "Right. Sorry. Uh, long story short, I'm Lucifer and Chloe's daughter from the future."
"And my half sister," Carlos said from the stairs, Dude by his side. "Sorry, Rory apparently didn't like Dad's alcohol stash in the penthouse so I let her come down here. I didn't know you two were here today. Wedding planning and all." Rory walked over and asked, "Oh, what's that? Oh, the wedding hasn't happened yet, has it?" "What do you mean?" Eve asked. "Something does wrong with the wedding?" "Hold up," Maze added. "Why is she Aunt Eve and I'm just Maze?" Rory sighed, "I've said too much. Time travel 101. Ixnay on the oilerspays." "Indeed," Carlos said walking over. "Sorry, Maze, Eve, it's a long story. Sorry that we interrupted." "Can I get you another drink?" Rory asked Eve and Maze. Eve nodded as Dude said, "Yeah, a water for me, please." Carlos sighed.
Lucifer and Chloe arrived at where Rory told them Lucifer was last seen. They got out of Lucifer's car and Lucifer commented, "I can think of worse places to die. Well, one, Florida." Chloe asked, "Does any of this look familiar?" Lucifer sighed, "I can absolutely, categorically say I've never been here before in my life." Chloe asked, "What about real estate owned? Business conducted? Favors done?" Lucifer shook his head, "Nada, Detective, though I'm not sure it matters. Now that we've been here, I know never to return." Chloe sighed, "Lucifer, you can't be sure that will save you. A lot can happen in three weeks." "Agreed," Lucifer replied. "Like a vacation in Columbia? Beautiful beaches, mountains of illicit drugs. Like a home away fro home, really." Chloe said, "Lucifer, stop running from the problem. We have to solve this case to save your life. So please, help me find a clue. Or help me find anything." Lucifer stopped her, "Detective, Chloe, how can I help you find what isn't there. Plus, the future isn't written in stone. It can change." "Maybe," Chloe said. "But we don't know that for sure." "O ye of little faith," Lucifer said. "I mean, we're trying to now."
He looked around and saw a sign for a dentist office and he recognized the woman on the sign. Chloe noticed, "Do you recognize her?" Lucifer nodded, "I do. Though I can't quite say from where. They walked over to the dentist office and went inside.
"Killed by a dentist," Lucifer whispered. "Well, dental surgeon, maybe. I'd even take a podiatrist, but this. It can't be." Chloe walked up to the front desk, "Excuse me, could I speak to Dr. Kyle?" The man at the desk, Will, asked, "What is this regarding? Invisalign?" "What?" Chloe asked. "No. Do you recognize this man? Has he ever been here before?" Will answered, "No. I don't think so." Lucifer asked, "Right. Can you think of any reason that your boss might want to murder me?" Will was confused and Chloe pulled Lucifer away, "Is any of this ringing a bell?" Lucifer shook his head, "No, nothing at all. And I clearly didn't do this woman a favor because she's, well, a dentist. I must have slept with her and awakened a powerful lust that curdled into a murderous hate." Chloe argued, "But you remember everybody you sleep with. Like, every detail." "But there was the masked orgy," Lucifer countered. "What?" Chloe asked. Lucifer argued, "I slept with her. That must be it." "What?" Will overheard. "You slept with my wife?" "You're married to the dentist?" Lucifer asked. "But you're the receptionist. No wonder she slept with me."
"Excuse me," Dr. Kyle walked out of the back room. "Is everything OK in here?" Will turned to her, "I knew it. And to think I worked so hard to keep my fling with Cindy a secret." "What?" Dr Kyle was shocked and Cindy, the hygienist, ran away crying. Lucifer turned to Chloe, "Oh, this place is amazing. I should be getting my teeth cleaned here." Will said, "No wonder you never noticed the crazy sexual tension between me and Cindy! Probably 'cause you were too busy doing the old plaque rinse with this guy. Right?" Dr Kyle replied, "I don't even know who he is." Chloe whispered, "You said it was a masked orgy, so how would you recognize her face?" Suddenly a commercial advertising the practice came on and Lucifer asked, "Excuse me, do these commercials ever run during Bones?" Dr. Kyle answered, "Syndicated audiences are tooth decay audiences." Lucifer sighed, "Right. I think I know where I recognize her from." The man said, "Oh, so you two didn't….Maybe I overreacted." "Get out!" Dr Kyle shouted. Will said, "OK. Fine. Come on, Cuspid." He was talking to the dog under the desk. But Cuspid ran and jumped into Dr. Kyle's arms instead. Will then walked right out. Lucifer and Chloe sighed.
They walked out of the practice and saw Will sitting on the curb crying. Lucifer said, "Don't worry. Worse case, you get half of…well, this, right?" Will sobbed, "There was a prenup. I just lost my wife, my job, my dog. I've got no home, no friends. I am ruined." "No, you're not ruined," Lucifer argued. "And it's all your fault," Will replied. "I'm gonna kill you." Lucifer and Chloe were a little alarmed and they walked away a little bit and Lucifer whispered, "This is terrible." "I know," Chloe replied. "We may have just inadvertently created your future murderer." "That too," Lucifer said. "But I don't even get murdered by a dentist. The great Lucifer Morningstar's final foe is a dentist receptionist." "Wait, maybe not," Chloe argued. "If we can figure out a way to uncreate your killer." Lucifer replied, "So we just need to convince Sniffles here not to snuff me out. How hard can that be?"
Back at Lux, Carlos was watching in amusement as Rory was making Maze and Eve some martinis nervously. Rory handed her creations to Maze and Eve, "Seriously, forget I said anything." Eve took her drink and said to Maze, "She called me Aunt Eve. That means we're still in her life. Right?" Maze glared at Rory, "Yeah, you are. Not me. I'm just Maze. Not Aunt Maze. Just plain old Maze, which probably means we're probably not together." Eve reassured, "We don't know that for sure, babe." Maze replied, "Then what else does it mean, Eve?" Carlos stepped forward, "Maze, I think you need to relax a bit. You now know that I have a little sister in the future. You don't know why she won't refer to you as Aunt Maze. Maybe you decide you don't like that. Or maybe you can use this and get her to call you Aunt Maze if that's what you really want. I mean, have I ever called you Aunt Maze?" Maze shook her head and Carlos continued, "And has that ever bothered you?" Maze thought for a minute, then said, "No." Carlos smirked, "Then there you go." Rory asked, "But do you call Eve Aunt?" Carlos looked over at Eve, "No, I don't. It's a long story." Eve nodded in agreement, knowing that even though Carlos forgave her, he still is wary of her at times.
Amenadiel then walked in, "Maze, I told you texting me there's an emergency when you really just want a drink…" Before Carlos could say hello, Maze sighed, then said to Amenadiel, "Amenadiel, this is Rory. Lucifer and Chloe's daughter. Carlos' sister. From the future." "Half sister," Carlos corrected. Amenadiel looked at Rory, "From where?" "More like when," Rory corrected. Maze added, "Yeah, and she knows what happens to all of us. Apparently Eve breaks up with me." Eve sighed, "We don't know who breaks up with who." Carlos asked, "Did you really not listen to what I was saying?" "I did," Dude said from the floor. Carlos sighed, "That's because you always do, Dude." Maze ignored Carlos and said to Eve, "Well see? Now you're admitting that we break up!" Eve replied, "No! We don't know anything for sure." Maze smirked, "You are right, baby. We don't. But you do, kid."
Rory sighed, "Guys, I wish I could tell you. I really do. But I can't. My hands are tied." "Carlos," Maze said. "You can force her to tell us." Carlos sighed, "Maze, I'm not going to do that. I only asked about the basics. I trying to trust her, like she's trying to trust me. Especially since according to her, she didn't know that I even existed." "Really?" Maze asked. "And you don't want to find out why?" "I do," Carlos said. "But not by forcing her." Rory was surprised at Carlos' honest answer. Maybe she was starting to like her big brother a bit. "Besides," Rory said. "I especially can't tell you in front of this random stranger." Amenadiel was confused, "Random? Wait a minute. My future niece doesn't even know me?" Rory realized, "Shit, you're one of my uncles?" "He is," Carlos said. "Meet Uncle Amenadiel." Rory had a blank face and Amenadiel asked, "The greatest warrior of the Silver City? God's favorite son?" Rory said, "Oh, of course, Amenadiel! Lucifer's little bro." Carlos chuckled as Amenadiel corrected, "Big." Rory corrected, "Big brother. Yeah, I know who you are. Let me make you a drink."
Rory walked over to the bar and Amenadiel asked, "Does this mean I die?" Eve said, "Guess so. You die. Our wedding's a disaster." "Maybe I die at the wedding," Amenadiel offered. "What?" Eve asked. "I just sent your invitation. This is all my fault." "Guys," Carlos said. "Relax. Look just because she's from the future doesn't mean that our future is set in stone. She's from a possible future. We write our own destiny. OK?" Rory heard that, but didn't say anything as she brought over a drink for Amenadiel. Maze asked, "You're torturing us, aren't you?" Rory chuckled, "Game recognizes game, Auntie Maze. Learned from the best." Eve laughed, "That's good! See? You are an amazing aunt. Maybe even a better mom one day, huh?" Rory chuckled, "Sorry, Uncle A. I couldn't help myself." She hugged him as Amenadiel hugged her back. Rory pulled away, "Hey, I was kidding. You know who I am. I mean, you will, at least. So…" Amenadiel sighed, "I believe you. It's just, how long have you been here?" Rory shrugged, "A couple of days maybe. Oh, are you mad I didn't come see you sooner?" Amenadiel shook his head, "No, it's just, I didn't feel your presence. And if I didn't know about an angel from the future being here on Earth, then maybe there's other things happening in the world that I'm unaware of." "To be fair," Carlos added. "You didn't know I was a half celestial for months after I came here." But Carlos noticed a solemn look on his face that he would have to ask about later.
Carlos sighed, "All right, I think that's enough for one day. Rory, why don't we give everyone some space. Come on, we can go up to the guest suite." Rory was at least happy that Carlos kept his word about not forcing her to do things. She went up with him and Dude. When they got to the guest suite, Rory looked around, "So this is your place. Nice." Carlos shrugged, "At least when I visit. I'm just here for a while until college starts for me next month." Rory sat down on the bed, "So you don't like using your persuasion that much?" Carlos sighed, "Only if I have to. Like I said, I have trust issues, but that works both ways. I want people to trust me in the normal way. Let's just say I know people who if they had this power, they would abuse it. So it's my responsibility to use it wisely." "I understand," Rory said. Dude jumped up next to her, "He's a good kid. Despite where he grew up." Carlos shushed Dude and said, "Story for a later time." Rory chuckled, "It seems there's a lot of those. But I do have one question. How did you get Dad to bond with you?"
Carlos answered, "Well, differently than you did. I didn't tell him right away that I was his son. So I give you kudos for being braver than I was. Trust issues again for me. I wanted to get to know him and I wanted his help as I didn't have good control of my powers back then. Eventually, through certain past events, I told him. Like with you, he didn't take it that well at first, then warmed up to it. I'm just happy that I have his love and attention. And I know that in time, you will get it as well. Just be patient with him, OK?" Rory nodded, "If you say so."
"I do have a question for you," Carlos said. "Why didn't you know about me? You seem to know everyone else. I remember that you seemed really shocked that Dad has another kid." Rory didn't say anything at first, then said, "Well, Mom or anyone else didn't tell me anything about you. In fact, you weren't around at all. I remember one time I was digging through Mom's closet to find something to wear for a party and I found a box. I opened it and it had some of Dad's stuff but it also had a jacket, one similar to what you are wearing now, with the same red, white, and black colors and the crossbones on the back. There was a picture inside one of the pockets of Dad and Mom with what I think was you, but you looked different, no white hair, just brown. I found your name on the back of the photo along with Mom's and Dad's. Mom found me and I got in trouble. When I asked about the jacket and photo, she got quiet. But she only said, "He's nobody. Just someone we met from a long time ago. Nobody important." And I took her word for it." Carlos was sad to hear that Chloe might actually saw that about him one day. But he remembered that this future wasn't set in stone. Carlos said, "Well, I don't know why Chloe said that, but it's not true." "Yeah," Rory agreed. "I can see that now. Anyway, what do you do around here for fun?"
Meanwhile, Lucifer and Chloe brought Will back to the penthouse to try and calm him down. Lucifer was looking for a whiskey, "Ah-ha. Of course. 1926 Macallan. Hmm, this has got to do it." He set it next to money, drugs, and documents that he wanted to give Will to start a new life. But Will pushed the drink away and Lucifer scoffed, "Oh, come on! That is a $40,000 pour of whiskey you've just refused. Look, I've offered you money, your own dental practice, I'll even throw in a new dog, hmm? Two dogs? All the dogs! Why don't you understand? It's very simple. I'm trying to bribe you into not wanting to murder me. So what's it going to take?" Will answered, "I just want Erin back. She was my world." Chloe pointed out, "But you cheated on her." Will sobbed, "I know." Lucifer sighed while Chloe asked, "OK, so if we could get your wife to take you back, do you think that maybe you wouldn't wanna kill Lucifer anymore?" Will asked Lucifer, "Do you really think you could get my Honey Badger to take me back?" Chloe said, "Well, between the two os us, we've accomplished the impossible. How hard could it be to reignite a love connection?" Lucifer sighed, "No, excuse us."
Lucifer dragged her over to the bar, taking the drink with him and drank it, "Oh, that is good. So, say we do that, then there's no guarantee it'll stick. He could end up stepping out on his wife again, find a way to blame me for it, and then snap right back into a murderous rage when our guard is down. We're playing right into fate's hands here." Chloe asked, "Well, what else can we do?" Lucifer answered, "We write our own destiny. And I know just how to avoid this fate."
He stormed into his bedroom and went right to the safe. Chloe followed him, "Lucifer, what are you doing?" Lucifer answered, "Cutting to the chase. I'm gonna put Azrael's blade in his hand and see if he kills me. Then we'll have our answer." "Seriously?" Chloe asked. "Are you really willing to die to prove that you didn't abandon your daughter?" Lucifer said, "Apparently so." He opened the safe, but the blade was not there. "It's gone," Lucifer said. "What?" Chloe asked. Lucifer replied, "It doesn't make sense, 'cause the only people who've been here recently are the two of us, Tears for Fears out there, and Carlos and Rory." "Lucifer, don't say it," Chloe said. "My own daughter kills me," Lucifer said.
Lucifer found Carlos and Rory and he and Chloe dragged both of them to Linda's office for a session. Linda was in awe, "Just when I thought I'd heard it all. Future child angst, being faced by present day parents. I've never dealt with that before. No one's death with that before. And I thought Carlos being from another Earth was amazing." "OK, Aunt Linda," Carlos said. "Don't overthink this." "This'll be perfect for Chapter 17," Linda muttered to herself. "Chapter 17?" Lucifer asked. "Oh, not important," Linda lied, which Carlos sensed that she was lying and hiding something.
Linda asked, "OK, so, where shall we start?" "Who are you again?" Rory asked. "The only Linda Martin I know is a convicted felon." Carlos elbowed her and said, "Don't listen to her, Aunt Linda. She just pulled that trick on Uncle Amenadiel." Lucifer added, "Apparently, my daughter lies. Apple fell miles from the tree, it seems. Unlike my son." "Hey," Carlos defended Rory. "I've lied too. Lighten up, Dad." Rory argued, "Maybe I'd know better if you'd ever been around." "But I was," Chloe said. "Is that how I raised you?" Rory sighed, "You had a lot to deal with, Mom." "What does that mean, honey?" Chloe asked. Carlos smiled softly at the mother/daughter interaction happening, silently wishing he had a connection like that with his own mother, but knew that it was never meant to be thanks to his mother being Cruella De Vil. Lucifer said, "More subterfuge, I'm sure. She's just trying to stir things up." Rory sighed, "God. You still here? Don't let the door hit ya where I should've split ya." Lucifer retorted, "Oh, that's funny. Where'd you learn that? The future?" "Guys," Carlos interrupted. "Enough."
Linda added, "I can sense that you're both very angry. But I can also see that you're both not as different as you may think." Lucifer and Rory scoffed while Carlos and Chloe sighed at their antics. Linda continued, "OK, Rory, we often use anger to protect ourselves. But underneath, you might be feeling a more vulnerable emotion. And you, Lucifer, perhaps you could try being more empathetic, considering Rory's been through the very thing you have. Your father was absent too." Lucifer argued, "My father made that choice. I didn't." "You don't know that," Rory retorted. "Yes, I do," Lucifer argued. "Because one, I would never choose that, especially after I messed most of Carlos' childhood. And two, I know you killed me."
Carlos and Rory were shocked to hear that. Rory asked, "Mom, what's he talking about?" Chloe explained, "You know Azrael's blade? It went missing from the safe." "And you think I took it?" Rory asked. "Somebody did," Lucifer said. "And the only people who had access were the four of us, so…" Chloe interrupted, "Lucifer, we don't know that! It could've been someone else. It could have been Carlos." "What?" Carlos growled as his eyes started to glow red. Lucifer said, "It wasn't anyone else. It had to have been her. And I trust Carlos never to do that."
Linda asked, "Lucifer, why are you so threatened by your daughter?" Lucifer groaned, "Oh, come on. This isn't a jump. It isn't even a hop. She's already tried to kill me once." "Yeah, but I didn't," Rory argued. "Pull your head out of your butt and think. If I wanted to kill you, why would I be doing this?" Lucifer guessed, "It's all part of your ruse to steal the blade and remove me from existence entirely."
Chloe sighed, "I'm sorry." "You have nothing to be sorry for," Rory replied. "He's the one who should apologize." Chloe said, "No, Rory, this is my fault." "Why do you feel that way, Chloe?" Linda asked. Before Chloe could answer, Lucifer said, "It's because you had me keep the blade on Earth, isn't it? Which is good, because now we are getting to the bottom of things." Chloe argued, "Lucifer, you don't understand. She's not the only…" Lucifer interrupted, "Oh, I understand completely. She's the only one with motive, means, and opportunity. I bought her here to confess voluntarily before I make Carlos command her to tell the truth." "That's why you brought me here?" Rory asked. "This isn't family therapy. It's an interrogation? I can't believe you did this. I am not a murder suspect. I'm your daughter. And I bet you were on this, weren't you Carlos?" Carlos stood up, "Absolutely not! I was dragged here to. I told you that he's taking this way too hard. Give him time to get his head out of his ass." "Hey!" Lucifer shouted.
Rory huffed, "He clearly isn't and never will. And you are just as bad if you believe that. You know what, I think you're just trying to make sure that he doesn't give me the love and attention I deserve. Because you want it all to yourself." "That's not true," Carlos argued. "Maybe she's right," Chloe said. "Carlos you always want to spend as much time with your dad as you can. So I was going to say that maybe you stole the blade to frame Rory." Carlos turned to Chloe, "Excuse me? Are you serious? Dad, please tell me that you aren't buying this." Lucifer couldn't say anything as he didn't know what to believe at the moment. Carlos said, "Unbelievable. Seriously, if anyone should be the suspect, it's you, Chloe." Lucifer stood up, "Carlos, that was out of line. Now if Rory won't tell us the truth willing, then you can force her to. Chloe is not the suspect here." "Dad, sit down and shut up," Carlos commanded. Lucifer obeyed.
Carlos turned back to Chloe, "I knew something has been off with you lately. The Chloe I know would never accuse me of something like this." "You don't know that," Chloe retorted. "You have been having problems with your emotions since you almost killed Michael six months ago." "BS," Carlos argued and the room started to rattle as his control over his powers was slipping. "I know you're lying. I didn't steal the blade. I never would. You're just protecting yourself so that you don't look bad. The one who's been different in these last six months is you. And I think it's due to Amenadiel's necklace. I saw you freaking out earlier when my dad said that he was going to take the blade off of Earth, which meant that your newfound super strength would disappear. You just don't want to be weak again, don't you?" "Leave my mom alone!" Rory shouted. "Maybe she's right. Maybe you took it to frame me. Since you're all about having Dad's love. You listen to everything he tells you to do. I never had that from him. All I had was my mom. Yes, she gave me tons of love and attention, but I wanted that from him too. But I can see now that he will only love you. Maybe you should have been a mama's boy instead so that I can have him all to myself, since you might be the reason Dad abandons me. But now I'm questioning if I want his love and attention."
Carlos' anger rose as a vase near the door broke, "Mama's boy? That never would of happened. You see, while you had a so called loving mother to fall back on because Dad wasn't there, I had the worst mother ever. I wasn't her son, I was her slave. I had to do all the chores around the place, tend to her every need, and I was forced to sleep in her closet as she felt that I didn't deserve a bed to sleep on. The closet that was full of her fur coats that I couldn't use for warmth and bear traps that I still have scars from on my legs. Not to mention she would abuse me physically and mentally for years, the scars on my arms is proof of that. You at least had one parent's love growing up. I didn't get any of that. But that's what I get for my mother literally being Cruella De Vil. I'd give anything for a parent's love, any love. You're just a hypocrite that can't think before you speak." Rory stepped backwards in shock as the room continued to rattle, more aggressively now. Carlos looked around and saw the shocked looks on everyone's faces. Carlos turned to Lucifer, "You should clear your head and look at the real culprit sitting next to you. Do your own dirty work for once." Carlos then stormed out, slamming the door behind him and the room stopped shaking. Rory started to tear up and she left a few minutes later. Lucifer looked at Chloe, who was trying to sink as low as she could in her seat and Linda was horrified at the damage in her office that Carlos caused.
Later, Lucifer and Chloe returned to the penthouse. Lucifer sat down on his bed, "That could have gone better. I mean, I could have done better." Chloe sat next to him, "Lucifer, this was all my fault." Lucifer sighed, "You can't blame yourself." Chloe replied, "Yes, I can. 'Cause Carlos was right. I lied." She reached into the mattress and pulled out Azrael's blade. Lucifer asked, "How did you know that was there?" Chloe answered, "Because I'm the one who took it. I hid the blade to keep it safe. To keep you safe. Well, and now that you know Rory wasn't the one who stole the blade, you know, I'm sure we can just talk to her and fix this." "You're forgetting something," Lucifer said. "I think there's something else we need to fix first, Chloe. The blade needs to go back to Heaven." "What?" Chloe asked. "No, I told you, I was protecting you. That's it." "Is this about me?" Lucifer retorted. "Or you?"
He reached for the blade but Chloe jumped out of the way and backed up. Lucifer sighed, "Oh, Chloe. Chloe, I am so sorry. I should have seen this before. And only my son seemed to have noticed." "Why are you sorry?" Chloe asked. "This makes me feel strong. I don't want to give that up." Lucifer replied, "And clearly you are too attached to the strength the necklace gives you when the blade is here. Carlos was right. You are off." Chloe shook her head, "No, I am fine. I can control it." "Can you?" Lucifer retorted. "Because I'm starting to think the only reason you've been pushing so hard on this case, Detective, is that you didn't want to let it go." "Well, you're wrong," Chloe said. Lucifer growled, "Chloe, you let me believe that my own daughter, our daughter, stole it and wanted to kill me. Not to mention you tried to blame my son for stealing it to frame our daughter, when clearly he was right about you all along." Chloe sighed, "Well, I think you're being a little dramatic. And everything turned out fine." "BS," Lucifer retorted. "You're not in control. And you're just going to stand there and not apologize for your actions? Carlos is right, this isn't you. Now give me the blade."
Chloe grabbed his arm and shouted, "No!" She then shoved him into the wall, Lucifer then shoved her into the opposite wall. But Chloe then threw him over her shoulder and he tumbled down the steps to the ground below. Chloe growled, "I know what I'm doing, and you're not taking it away." She stormed past him, but he quickly stood up and grabbed her arm. Chloe looked at him, "Lucifer, don't make me hurt you." They started to fight each other as Lucifer tried to take the blade, "Give it to me!" He got it out of her hands and the blade tumbled to the ground. Chloe then used her elbow to hit him in the face and Lucifer tumbled backwards. They continued to fight as Lucifer tried to calm her down, but she wasn't listening. She charged in and got the upper hand and tossed Lucifer onto the ground and got on top of him to hold him down. She got the blade back and held it above his heart.
Lucifer gasped, "Well, I certainly did not see this coming. But I guess that means we've solved our case. This must be how I die. You kill me, hid the truth from everyone, and Carlos, heartbroken and enraged, goes back to Auradon, never to return." Chloe replied, "What? No. No, of course not. It was just instinct. I would never hurt you." She got off of him and gasped, "What's happening to me?" Lucifer sat up and reassured, "It's not your fault. It's that blade. It drives every human to Stabby Town." "I lost control before I took the blade," Chloe said. "Carlos was right. I haven't been myself. There's no one to blame but me. Lucifer, I want you to, I need you to take it from me." She held it up to him and Lucifer took it from her, "All right." He put it down to the side and took her into his arms and said, "It's all right." Chloe sobbed into his chest as he held her.
The elevator then opened and Lucifer and Chloe turned to see Dude coming out of it, with a pissed off look on his face, "You two better have a good explanation!" Lucifer said, "Well, we just ended a fight for the blade…." "No!" Dude shouted. "Not for this! For making Carlos stumble back here and sob uncontrollably downstairs. He won't tell me what happened. He keeps mumbling, "It's over. He doesn't care anymore. How could she say that? I'm a monster." What did you two do?" Lucifer and Chloe looked at each other, and Lucifer stood up, "We both need to go downstairs and apologize. Now."
Dude led them to the guest suite where indeed Carlos was sobbing into his pillow on his bed. Lucifer could see a half packed suitcase sitting next to the bed, which made Lucifer's heart break even more. Lucifer walked over to Carlos and sat down next to him, which jolted Carlos a bit. Carlos looked up with tear stained eyes, "Dad? What are you doing here?" Lucifer sighed, "I'm here to apologize. I….I'm sorry for how I acted at Linda's office. I was blindsided by the blade being missing that I jumped to conclusions too quickly. And I tried to make you use your powers unwisely. And I didn't defend you when you were accused of being the culprit. You were just trying to help your sister while she was being blamed unfairly. Maybe you're right. Maybe I do make you do my dirty work. That's not what our relationship is. You're my son. And I love you very much." He surprised Carlos by pulling him into a hug and Carlos sobbed, "Dad." Lucifer cried, "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry."
Chloe cleared her throat, "Um, Carlos. I apologize as well. I'm sorry that I tried to put the blame on you. You were right. I haven't been myself lately. The necklace has been affecting my mind badly. I just wanted to protect myself and I threw you under the bus. I used your past against you. I am so sorry. I know that you may not forgive me. But I just wanted to apologize. If you don't want to see me for a while or ever again, I understand. There's no one to blame but myself." Chloe teared up a little. But Carlos surprised her by standing up and walking over and hugging her, "I forgive you, Chloe. I'm glad to see that you realized that you needed to let go." Chloe started to cry harder and she hugged him back. Lucifer stood up and walked over and hugged the both of them, "We will get past this. We are all strong together. It's all right. I love you both." The three of them just stood there hugging each other. Dude sat on the ground smiling up at them.
None of them saw Rory standing on the balcony spying on them with a sad look on her face. She saw the sad but loving look on Lucifer's face. She saw how broken her mother looked. And she saw the pained look on Carlos' face as she had seen him sobbing on his bed and she realized that he was right, she doesn't understand everything yet. She knew that she had to apologize to him. But for now, she gave the three of them space. But she was still upset at Lucifer. Yes, she knew that Carlos told her to be patient, but she couldn't be that. She just wished that Lucifer had the same love for her that he does for Carlos. And that he never abandoned her in the first place.
Over at LAPD, Ella was in her lab when Amenadiel walked in, "Hi, Ella." Ella whirled around, "Oh, Amenadiel! You snuck up on me there. What's up?" Amenadiel said, "I wanted to talk to you. To apologize." "For what?" Ella asked. Amenadiel explained, "I was a little dismissive of you earlier. And I'm beginning to realize that maybe there are things that I haven't noticed that are happening in the world. And that could even include, say, the end of it, so…." Ella interrupted, "I don't mean to Kanye you. I'm totally gonna let you finish, but I was just, you know, cuckoo. Yeah, no, I found the sock. It was just stuck in the lint trap. So, thank you, universe, which is clearly not ending." "And the river?" Amenadiel asked. Ella answered, "Uh, Kool-Aid. Yeah, I tractor trailer crashed and dumped a bunch of it into the river, so it's seriously not a big deal. I mean, a big deal ecologically, but totally not a big deal in the earth-shattering way I thought it was." "Well, I'm glad," Amenadiel said. "Yeah, me too," Ella replied. "I mean, sayonara apocalypse conspiracy theories and back to regular old forensic science work."
Amenadiel nodded and walked out, taking note of the frog in its cage as it felt a little off, but he walked out without saying anything else. When he left, Ella walked over and unlocked a trifold and opened it to reveal she had lied and was still researching about the end of the world. She had new articles, data, and even photos of Lucifer, Amenadiel, Maze, and even Carlos. She wrote, "Actual Devil?" underneath Lucifer's photo, "Angel?" under Amenadiel's photo, and "AntiChrist? Or something else?" under Carlos' photo. She also wrote, "Does Chloe know?" on the board.
Chloe was back at her house when someone knocked on the door. She opened it to find Lucifer standing there. She greeted, "Hi. Um, is the blade gone? It doesn't feel gone." "Not yet," Lucifer replied. "I thought there was something we should try before, well, before the opportunity escapes us." He stepped to the side to reveal Dan standing there. Chloe gasped, revealing that thanks to the necklace, she could see him, "Dan." Dan smiled, "Hey, Chloe." Chloe said, "Hi. I can't believe this. You look great. I mean…." Dan replied, "You're a sight for sore eyes too." Chloe turned to Lucifer, "I thought you said that I wouldn't be able to see him." Lucifer said, "Well, it occurred to me that Amenadiel's necklace might imbue you with more celestial qualities than just super strength." Chloe sighed, "Oh, Dan." She tried to hug him, but Dan stopped her, "I'm just a soul. So I'm not solid. But you can see, and you can hear me." Chloe nodded, "Oh, right. So when you take the blade back up to Heaven, Lucifer, I won't be able to see him anymore?" Lucifer answered, "You won't." Dan added, "We weren't even sure if I should come. We didn't wanna make this any harder for you." Lucifer said, "But then we thought it wouldn't be fair to make that decision for you." Chloe asked, "Can you give us a few hours?" Lucifer nodded, "Of course." And he walked away while Dan went inside Chloe's house.
Later at Lux, Lucifer was meeting with Maze, "Anyway, the blade will be back in Heaven where it belongs, which means I won't die." Maze chuckled, "And that's a bad thing, so you called me here to complain about being alive?" Lucifer sighed, "No, I called you because, for some unknown reason, I end up doing to my daughter the very thing my father did to me. The thing II unintentionally did to my son. The thing that your mom did to you. Which makes me just as bad to them. Worse, maybe." Maze asked, "And you want me to torture you so you feel better about yourself?" Lucifer chuckled, "No, Maze. I want your, you know…" Maze asked, "You want my advice?" Lucifer nodded as Maze said, "Well, some people aren't meant to be parents." Lucifer sighed, "Agreed, but I am a father twice now. I've given everything I have to my son, and now I have a daughter that I may abandon. So…." Maze continued, "I think you're asking all the wrong questions. It doesn't matter why you do it. You won't know until it happens. But you need to think about your daughter, just like you do with Carlos. What she's gone through. How hurt and alone she must have felt. Like Carlos did. How hurt and alone she feels now. The real question you have to ask yourself, Lucifer, is, "What am I going to do to fix this?"" Lucifer nodded solemnly. Maze asked, "Speaking of kids, where's Carlos anyway?" Lucifer sighed, "He's up in the penthouse waiting for me. I was going to spend some time with him after I return the blade to Heaven. We're going to look for Rory together."
Up in the penthouse, Carlos was playing the piano softly while Dude was laying at his feet. He heard a sound coming from the balcony and he looked up to see Rory standing there. He was shocked to see her there, "Rory." Rory smiled weakly, "Hi, Carlos. Can I come in?" Carlos nodded and Rory walked over to him. Dude sat up and looked at Rory, who said, "Hey, dog." "It's Dude," Dude corrected. Rory shrugged and said, "Carlos, I owe you an apology. I said some things that were hurtful to you. You were right. I don't know that whole story, mainly yours. I guess even though we have the same dad, we have different moms, different childhoods. I had the comfort of a loving mother while you didn't. I'm sorry." She looked down and Carlos was wearing a T-shirt and she saw some of the scars on his arms. Carlos hid his arms behind his back and said, "I should apologize too. You were just trying to defend your mom after I yelled at her. You two must have a deep connection, one that I'll never have with mine." Rory replied, "I get why you seem so close with Dad. You want that parental love that you never got. I'm sorry that my being here gets in the way of that."
Carlos shook his head, "No, Rory, you're not at fault. You didn't grow up with a father like me. You just want to get to know him." Rory scoffed, "More like find out we he abandoned me. Once I get that answer, I'm good." "So you don't want to form a bond with him?" Carlos asked. Rory sighed as she sat down on the piano bench, "I don't know. Right now, I don't really want to talk to him. But you, on the other hand, I want to get to know you. Like I said, Mom wouldn't talk about you at all. And I actually want to get to know my older brother. But at your own pace. I respect your trust issues and I remember that I have to earn the details of your story."
Carlos chuckled, "Good for you for remembering. But maybe tonight I can tell you a few things." Rory smiled, "I'd like that. So is your mother really Cruella De Vil?" Carlos nodded, "Yep, making me Carlos De Vil, at your service." Rory chuckled, "Wow, never thought characters like that actually existed. And you really come from another Earth?" Carlos said, "Yep. I come from a kingdom called Auradon." And Carlos told her about the Isle of the Lost, his friends (even showing her a picture of them), and bits of his childhood on the Isle up to him going to Auradon Prep. Rory listened to every word he said and it made the heartache that she had for Lucifer go away for a while.
Chloe was also sharing past memories as she and Dan were going through a photo album with pictures of Trixie, "She was so tired." Dan agreed, "I know, but Trixie refused to let the chocolate cake go." Chloe laughed, "Oh, my God. I almost lost it!" Dan chuckled, "I know. Me too. How's she doing?" Chloe sighed, "You know. She's, um, it's been hard. But she's strong. Just like her dad." "And how are you doing?" Dan asked. Chloe answered, "Uh, well, turns out with super strength I can protect myself. I can protect the ones I love. But there's no celestial object to take away how all of this feels, you know? It's been hard. A lot harder than I thought it would be." Dan started to tear up, "I'm sorry Chloe." Chloe sighed, "Dan, you were an amazing man. A great cop, an incredible father. Listen, can I tell you something? At first, I blamed myself for what happened to you. But then I realized that, God, at least I got to be there when you died. But Dan, ever since you've been gone, I just, I've felt so powerless."
Dan replied, "Listen, there's something that you need to know, OK? You're right. Trixie is strong. But it's not because of me. It's because of you. And you don't need some silly necklace to give you strength, Chloe, because you are the strongest woman I've ever met in my life." Chloe cried as she said, "Oh, Dan. Oh, God." She looked down for a moment, but when she looked up, Dan was gone, meaning Lucifer had taken the blade back up to Heaven, so she could see him anymore, even though he was still standing there. Chloe cried, "Dan, if you can see me, if you can hear me, thank you. I can't tell you how much I needed this." Dan cried silently listening to Chloe's last message for him.
