Amenadiel was out with Sonya in her police car driving around. They stopped at a coffee shop where the owner came out with two coffees, "Good morning to you all!" Sonya greeted, "Well, good morning, Harry." She took the two coffees and the owner asked, "A new one, huh? Good luck!" Sonya chuckled as Amenadiel said, "Thanks." The owner walked away as Amenadiel was about to drink the coffee when Sonya stopped him, "Oh, no, that's my ten o'clock coffee. Second cupholder's broken. I need you to hold it."

She drove off and around LA while Amenadiel looked out the window. Suddenly Dan appeared in the backseat, "Oh, man! Look at you in all your blues!" That made Amenadiel spill the coffee as he muttered, "Great. Look what you made me do." Sonya that he was talking to her, "Excuse me?" Amenadiel replied, "Uh, sorry, I mean the pothole." Sonya seemed to buy the lie, "Yeah, well, the taxpayer money doesn't often make its way down here. And don't try cleaning your shirt. Ten bucks it's gonna get a lot dirtier than that." Dan whispered, "Hey. I'm sorry if I scared you, man. I thought you knew I was here. I mean, I've been around all morning, watching you sleep. And shower. And do stuff. I'm kidding. Come on, relax. It's just, listen, I know you don't want me to make you look crazy, but it's your first day, and I wanna be here for you." Amenadiel replied, "Thanks, but I don't need it." "Need what?" Sonya asked. "Coffee," Amenadiel lied. "So it's good that you didn't get me one because I definitely don't need it." Sonya replied, "Oh, great. I'm glad I don't have to feel bad about it, then."

"Oh, man!" Dan sighed. "Feels good to be back in a patrol car. Come on, man. There's only five people in the entire world who can see me, and one of them is Maze. So can I please, please, please just stay?" "Sorry, but no," Amenadiel replied, but seeing the look on Sonya's face made him add, "Nobody is more excited than me to be right here. Right now. With you, Officer Harris." Sonya sighed, "Listen, I get it. It's your first day, and you're nervous. Just follow my lead and everything's gonna be fine." Amenadiel nodded, "I will. Absolutely. Your lead and only your lead. We are gonna make a fantastic duo." Dan chuckled, "OK, OK, I get it. I will leave. And I understand. Just be safe out there, OK? I love you, man." Dan left the car as Amenadiel awkwardly said to Sonya, "I love…..being a cop." Then they heard on the radio, "Shots fired at 52 and Halldale." Sonya replied through her radio, "Car 77, we're on our way." She drove off towards the address.

Over at Lux, Carlos was up in the guest suite on a video call with his friends, Jane, Evie, Jay, and even Mal, back in Auradon as he was giving them updates on what was going on in LA. "So," Jay reviewed. "You went down to Hell to help your dad do a good deed for a soul he hates, Dan came back as a soul that only a few people can see, and you have a half-sister?" "From the future," Carlos reminded him. "Well, that's a lot to process," Evie said. "So Dan's stuck on Earth," Mal added. "Maybe I can talk to my dad and see if he can help Dan in any way. I mean, souls are his speciality." "That's a good idea," Carlos said. "I don't want him to be stuck as a ghost forever." "You have a sister," Jane said. "Yes, half-sister, but you actually have a sibling. What is she like?" "Well," Carlos answered. "She came here to kill my dad, but failed. She says that he abandoned her and was never in her life. But also she didn't know anything about me. That makes me wonder what happened to me? Yes, that freaks me out, but I know that the future isn't written in stone and can still change, future sister coming here doesn't change that." "Good for you for thinking that," Jane said. "So how is your dad taking that?" Carlos chuckled, "He still thinks he's going to die in the future. He doesn't want to believe that he might abandon his daughter. Especially after not being there for me in my childhood. It's definitely got him on edge. We've had our moments, but we've come to an understanding. But he's still worrying about a future that might not happen."

Over at Linda's office, Lucifer was listing possible reasons as to why he won't be in Rory's life, "Maybe an asteroid hits LA. Or some sort of supernatural pathogen that only affects the most handsome of us? Or what if I am placed into witness protection and sent to Central Idaho? Or I go to Auradon with Carlos and can't come back here?" Linda sighed, "Yeah, maybe we should stop focusing on ways for you to avoid responsibility for your future disappearance." Lucifer countered, "Well, the first two are acts of God. So technically I am taking responsibility. Plus I want to know what happens so I can make sure it doesn't happen." Linda said, "OK, then let's start thinking about Rory and how she's feeling. Also how Carlos is feeling." "Odd," Lucifer said. "That's what Maze said." "That is odd," Linda agreed. "Anyway, the fact of the matter is Rory feels abandoned." Lucifer sighed, "Yes, and I'm not sure I have the right to even be God, father to all, if my own daughter feels neglected." "And Carlos feeling used," Linda added. Lucifer nodded, "Well, I have already made up with Carlos, but yes, I know that I miss out of things with him as well. So how can I possibly fix things?"

Lucifer remembered, "Hang on. You abandoned your daughter, and she doesn't hate you. How did you pull that off?" "Well," Linda replied. "You know the story. I stalked her for a while, then worked diligently behind her back to clear her of a crime she didn't commit." Lucifer thought for a moment, "No, not helpful." Linda sighed, "OK, just concentrate on what you can do, moving forward. Spend time with her now. Like you are spending time with Carlos. Because what you can't do is go back in time and be there for all the birthdays and Christmases that you missed. For both of them. Or in Rory's case, jump to the future. The past is in the past. Or, in Rory's case, the future. Ugh. Time travel. And I thought Carlos being from another Earth was a lot." "But what if I could?" Lucifer asked. "What, time travel?" Linda asked back. "Can you? I mean, I suppose it's possible if you tried hard enough, given the self-actualization of it all." Lucifer interrupted, "Don't be so literal, Doctor. I was being metaphorical. Anyway, thank you. It was a tad long winded, but we got there eventually." He stood out and walked out, as Linda sighed, "Yeah."

Over at Chloe's house, Chloe was showing Rory Trixie's room, "So you can sleep in here for now." Rory walked in, "Look at all this little kid stuff. Uh, where's T?" "T?" Chloe asked. "Oh, right! Trixie. Yeah, of course. I forget that you two know each other really well because you're sisters. She's at science camp for the summer." Rory scoffed, "Nerd. Could always count on my big sis for good porn, though." Chloe was confused, "What?" Rory chuckled, "Kidding. The only thing T hides is chocolate." She looked around the drawers of Trixie's desk, and pulled out a chocolate bar. "There you go," Chloe said. "All right, so fresh towels are…." "Upstairs, in the linen closet," Rory finished. "I know. I grew up here, remember?" Chloe sighed, "Right, sorry, I, uh, I just keep forgetting. Um, can I make you some food? Do you want a PB&J?" Rory responded, "How about some dino chickie nuggies and a juice box?" Chloe sighed, "Right. Sorry again. Not used to having a grown up around." Rory said, "No, I'm sorry, ribbing each other is kind of our thing. Will be, anyway."

Chloe then said, "Rory, I really do want to apologize for what happened in the therapy session. Um, the only reason that Lucifer thought, you know, that you killed him, that was because of me. That was my fault. Also for lying about Carlos trying to frame you. That's my fault too. And from the sound of how you grew up, I just, it sounds like it really wasn't great. And I'm sorry." Rory replied, "Mom, you have nothing to apologize for. I have to apologize. I mean, I did, to Carlos. I wanted to defend you from his accusations and I blindly lashed out at him without knowing the full story. So this isn't on you." Chloe sighed, "I just wish we had a better start to our relationship." Rory said, "This isn't actually the start. I mean, you may have just met me, but I've known you my whole life, and you are, and always have been, the most amazing mom." Chloe sighed, "Good."

Rory's phone went off and she saw that Lucifer was calling, "And you are not the one I am pissed at. It's him." Chloe said, "Listen, like you said, you know me. But you don't know Lucifer. Not yet. So maybe just give him a chance. He might surprise you." Rory chuckled, "Carlos said something very similar to that." "You've been talking to Carlos?" Chloe asked. Rory nodded, "Yeah, I mean, while I know that Lucifer abandoned me, why Carlos wasn't around, I don't know. You never told me. The one time I tried, you barely said anything. And after our fight during the therapy session, I realized that he was right about me not knowing everything. Especially since while I have a great mom, he doesn't. So I've been getting to know him. I mean, he is my big brother after all." Chloe smiled, "Good. Then maybe you should do that same with Lucifer." Lucifer was still trying to call and Rory sighed, picking up the phone and answering, "What do you want?"

Meanwhile, Amenadiel and Sonya had arrived at the scene and it had turned into a crime scene as it was a fatalist shooting of a young black man in his apartment. Amenadiel had been inside making sure the scene was secure and he got all possible information that would be needed. He looked at the dead mad and sighed, hating to see another life lost.

He walked outside to Sonya, "The scene is secure. I also assembled a list of possible witnesses." Sonya asked, "I'm assuming it includes Nosy McNoserson over there?" She pointed to an older black woman who was spraying her flowers and Amenadiel nodded, "Yes. But more importantly, I think there may be one prime witness unaccounted for." "Yeah, who's that?" Sonya asked. Amenadiel explained, "Well, did you check out the bathroom? Because I counted two toothbrushes. Maybe the deceased had a girlfriend or roommate who saw something. What do you think?" Sonya sighed, "It doesn't matter what I think. It matters what he thinks." She pointed to a man who was talking to another cop, "Right. The detective. Right. I'm sorry."

The man turned around to reveal it was James Reiben, one of the cops that assaulted him and Caleb when Caleb was arrested almost two years ago. Amenadiel felt the horrible memories of that night come back as James walked up to him, "You must be the new guy. Welcome to the force, rookie." He held out his hand and Amenadiel reluctantly shook it.

The three of them went inside and James started to talk with Sonya while Amenadiel stared at James, trying to hide his anger. Sonya explained, "Well, we just arrived on the scene 30 minutes ago. We're still gathering details, but from what we know, the victim is Kevin Campbell, 26. He was shot in the chest. Apparently, assailant busted down the down and started shooting." James sighed, "This neighborhood's a war zone. Had a gang shooting around the corner just last week. Only a matter of time before somebody retaliated." Amenadiel scoffed, which James noticed, "Wanna add something, rookie?" Amenadiel answered, "Well, you know, it just doesn't look like a gangbanger lives here." "Well, things aren't always what they seem," James replied. "Agreed," Amenadiel said sarcastically.

One cop asked James, "How big of a perimeter would you like us to process?" "Let's keep it to the living room," James answered. "No need to waste taxpayer dollars when we already know what happened." 'What about the bathroom?" Amenadiel asked. "What about it?" James retorted. Amenadiel said, "Well, I noticed there were two toothbrushes on the sink, the door was busted and the window wide open. Maybe someone was staying here, and they used that window as an escape." "Sure," James retorted. "Or maybe the Easter bunny came in through that window. Let's put out a BOLO for a fuzzy dude with big ears, buck teeth. Look, I get it. When you're a rookie, every toothbrush looks like a clue. But the simplest explanation is usually the right one. You spend enough time on the job, you trust your instincts on where to look." Amenadiel said, "Yeah, but…" "Rookie," Soya interrupted. "Let's go."

They both went outside and Amenadiel said, "Listen, I know I may have overstepped a little bit, but…" Sonya interrupted him again, "You like that uniform? You wanna keep wearing it? Don't ever question a CO like you did in there." Amenadiel replied, "You don't understand. I've had a run-in with that guy before. Reiben. He's a bad cop!" Sonya said, "No, you don't understand. Reiben is our boss! They do teach chain of command at the academy, right?" Amenadiel nodded, "Yes, but they also teach proper procedure, and Reiben wasn't following it." Sonya sighed, "Ah, you're killing me. I used to be like you. Opinionated, outspoken, real pain in the ass. You wanna kill your career? Keep rocking the boat. Look where it got me. Ten years later, still on the beat. Look, if you ever wanna decide what gets processed and what doesn't, just keep your head down. Keep your eyes on your job. You'll do more good in the long run if you don't blow shit up on your first damn day." Sonya walked away while Amenadiel sighed angrily. But then he got an idea.

Once he got back to LAPD, he went straight for Ella's lab. He snuck in while Ella was looking at something under a microscope. He started closing the blinds and walked up to her, "Hey, Ella." Ella turned around, "Oh, Amenadiel! Hi! I didn't hear you come in there. You are a stealthy one. It's like you just flew in or something." Amenadiel finished closing all of the blinds, "I need to talk to you. In confidence." Ella smirked, "Oh, absolutely buddy. OK, you can tell me anything, no matter how out of this world it might seem. Give me the real-real." Amenadiel was a little confused, "OK, thank you. Well, I was assisting at a murder scene today…." Ella interrupted, "Right, 'cause you're just a regular old, run of the mill uni, right?" Amenadiel continued, "Well, I am a sworn officer of the law. So, yeah. Anyway, I'm at the scene, and I just keep having this strange feeling that something isn't right." Ella replied, "Oh, I knew it! It's like a divine jankiness, right?" Amenadiel shook his head, "No, it's more like a feeling that someone else was in the apartment." "Oh, you mean like a holy spirit?" Ella asked. "No," Amenadiel said. "Like a roommate. Or maybe even the vic's girlfriend. You see, there was a second toothbrush and a bathroom window was left wide open. So I'm wondering if maybe you could check it out." Ella asked, "So is this coming from a higher power?" "Definitely not," Amenadiel replied. "Just your old pal Amenadiel asking you for a little favor, cop to cop." Ella seemed disappointed, as she wanted Amenadiel to confess that he's an angel, "Oh. So, just from one human cop to another?" "Yeah," Amenadiel said. "Also, if you could keep this between us, that would be great." Ella replied, "Uh, yeah, sure. Of course. My lips are zipped, on this matter or anything else you would ever wanna talk about. You know? I don't know. Work, family, spirituality, I am here for you, pal." She then hugged Amenadiel while trying to feel for wings and a halo, which confused Amenadiel.

Over at Lux, Carlos was sitting on the piano bench in the club playing softly, Dude sitting at his feet. He had finished his video chat with his friends and he was in a happy mood. He was also getting closer to an idea of how to propose to Jane so he was working through different songs as to what he would want to sing to her. He was playing one right now and started to sing along,

Moon river

Wider than a mile

I'm crossing you in style someday

Oh, dream maker

You heart breaker

Wherever you're going

I'm going your way

Two drifters

Off to see the world

There's such of lot of world to see

We're after the same rainbow's end

Waiting 'round the bend

My huckleberry friend

Moon river and me

While Carlos was playing, Rory had walked in, going to see Lucifer, and she heard Carlos singing. She snuck up behind him and was surprised to hear how good he was singing/playing the piano. When Carlos finished playing, Rory said, "Nice playing, bro." Carlos turned around and saw Rory standing there, "Rory. Hi. What are you doing here? I thought you were hanging out with your mom today." Rory sighed, "D-Lucifer called me. He wanted to show me something. Hence I'm here." Carlos stood up, "Do you want me to come with you? In case he does something weird?" Rory shrugged, "Sure. You can come too, dog." "It's Dude," Dude reminded her. "Lucifer is planning something though. There's been a lot of stuff coming in to the penthouse I think." "Yeah," Carlos agreed. "Dad's up to something."

They got on the elevator and when they arrived at the penthouse, it was all decorated like it was Christmas: tree in the corner with presents, wreaths and lights everywhere, fake snow falling from the ceiling, and even a choir singing out on the balcony. Both Carlos and Rory were confused, Dude was just excited. "Is it Christmas in July or something?" Carlos asked. Lucifer then came up to them, "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!" Rory looked around puzzled and Lucifer added, "Let it go?" Carlos chuckled, "Dad, please don't bring that up. Queen Elsa hears that way too much these days. And Dad, why are you wearing gold tinsel as a bowtie?" Lucifer sighed as he turned off the fake snow and Rory asked, "What is this?" "Oh, dear, do you not have Christmas in the future?" Lucifer asked. "Is that my fault as well?" Carlos sighed, "Oh, dear." Rory answered, "No, tacky consumerism still exists. What's this for?" "For you, of course," Lucifer said. "A Daddy do over if you will. Now we both know I've got a lot to make up for, so I thought I'd start with a Christmas prezzie for every year that I've missed. Carlos, I've also got presents for you as well, to make up for your lost time." "We celebrated it just last year," Carlos pointed out. Lucifer grinned, "Well, there's still plenty more to make up for. Oh, this is gonna be so much fun."

He brought both of them over to the tree, Dude ran over and jumped into a pile of snow that had gathered. Lucifer opened one present and pulled out two teddy bears, "One for each of you. It's for your first Christmas, obviously. Now, I'm told the box is much more fun to play with at that age, so we could make a spaceship or a castle, yeah? A strip club? Why don't we see what else there is?" He pulled out two gloves and a baseball, action figures, dolls, and even a tricycle. Rory chuckled but was unimpressed. Carlos was just shocked that his dad seemed to be losing his mind as he never tried to make up for lost time with him. Even a guy dressed as Santa tried to come in, but Lucifer made him leave as Lucifer realized that both Rory and Carlos didn't need the gifts for young children.

He went to go grab some eggnog as Rory asked, "So did Dad ever do this for you before?" Carlos shook his head, "No, I've never seen him do anything like this. I guess since he feels that since he lost time with two kids and not just one, he's got a lot of time to make up for. With both of us." Rory huffed, "Yeah, well, I still celebrated holidays so got plenty of gifts like this in the past. No need to get more of that, trust me." Carlos sighed, "I never did." Rory winced, "Oh, sorry, Carlos. I guess Christmas wasn't really celebrated on the Isle?" Carlos shook his head, "No, it wasn't. My first Christmas was when I was 15, when I left the Isle. All 4 of us VKs…" "VKs?" Rory asked. "Villain kids," Carlos clarified. "Anyway, we celebrated Christmas at Auradon Prep, and while confusing at first, it was magical. And that's when I received my first present ever. Mom never gave me gifts. For anything." Carlos' mood saddened a bit and Rory said, "Hey, at least you're making up for it now. Even though it's a bit strange." Carlos chuckled, "Indeed." "So, tell me more about these villains," Rory said. "Story for another time," Carlos said as Lucifer brought over some eggnog. Lucifer handed them glasses, "Here you are. Don't worry, Carlos, yours doesn't have alcohol in it. If only." Carlos chuckled as Rory sighed into her glass, wanting this bizarre day to be over.

Over at Chloe's house, Amenadiel was going over the case, "OK, so then Ella found a trail of blood leading away from the open bathroom window with a fingerprint in it belonging to a postal worker named Michaela Williams. Now, do you think that's related to the crime or just some coincidence?" Chloe thought about it, "It sounds probably related." "I knew it!" Amenadiel shouted. Chloe asked, "Did the head detective on the case disagree?" Amenadiel revealed, "Well, technically, the detective doesn't know about the blood trail yet. Or the fingerprint. I may have asked Ella to revisit the scene as a favor." "Without your CO's permission?" Chloe asked. "I mean, A-plus for enthusiasm, but not a smart move to go over a detective's head." Amenadiel replied, "The detective is James Reiben." Chloe realized, "Wait, hold on. The guy who pulled the gun on you?" "And harassed Caleb, yeah," Amenadiel added. "Apparently there was a complaint filed, but nothing happened. Scratch that. He got promoted." "Yes," Chloe said. "But there's procedures in place to prevent this sort of thing from happening. I mean, I would assume he went through extensive sensitivity training."

Amenadiel sighed, "Trust me, yeah, the guy is no more sensitive than he was before. And if those procedures were fair, then, Chloe, my FTO wouldn't have been stuck on the beat for the past ten years." "Your FTO is Harris, yeah?" Chloe asked. "Well, she's one of the best. I mean, I don't think "stuck" is the right word. I heard she was offered a detective seat and turned it down." Amenadiel was confused, "She what?" "Turned it down," Chloe repeated. "Listen, I will look into Reiben myself. If something doesn't look right, we'll get to the bottom of it together, but I was in the force a long time. I was raised in it. And usually, in the end, they do get it right."

The next morning, Amenadiel went back to the scene of the crime and knocked on the door of the nosy neighbor, Loretta. She opened it and said, "If Rosa sent you, you tell her to pipe down. She knows I can't hear my stories below a 35. Those who steal other people's Internet should not throw stones!" Amenadiel corrected, "Actually, ma'am, I'm here to ask you about Kevin Campbell. The young man who lived right across from you." Loretta was shocked, looked around, then said, "Uh, just checking for flying pigs, seeing as how you cops never come to ask me anything about anything." Amenadiel chuckled, "Well, ma'am, I would very much like to hear your opinion." Loretta smirked, "I'm Loretta. You like pound cake?"

She brought him out to her porch and gave him some pound cake. He took a bite, "Mmm-mm. Now, where was I? So, Kevin wasn't involved with gangs at all?" "No, sir!," Loretta replied. "He was a good boy. Hundred times nicer than that creepy Sam what's his ugly face that lived there before. In fact, Kevin came be here just last week. Brought me some beautiful strawberries. Sweet thing. He worked at the post office, and trust me, you get a nice government job like that, you don't go messing it up. Plus, he just met Michaela there." "Michaela Williams?" Amenadiel asked. Loretta nodded, "That's the one. She was over there pretty much every night." Amenadiel asked, "Know if she was there the morning he was killed?" Loretta gasped, "Probable. Poor thing. The two of them were in some serious love. You know how I know? The sex. This courtyard echoes like a canyon, and I certainly know what good love sounds like."

Loretta laughed and Amenadiel heard laughing behind him and saw Dan sitting in the chair behind him. Amenadiel sighed as Loretta continued, "Don't mean to embarrass you, darling." Amenadiel replied, "Oh, no, I was just realized I'm out of pound cake, Miss Loretta." He held up the empty plate and Loretta took it, "Oh! Well, don't you worry. There's plenty. Be right back."

Loretta got up and walked inside as Dan said, "Oh, man, she's so cute." Amenadiel turned to him, "Dan, if you're here to tell me to stick to writing speeding tickets, save it! I knew there was a witness to a murder yesterday, and no one is out there looking for her, thanks to Detective Reiben." "What?" Dan asked. "Reiben made detective?" Amenadiel nodded, "Yeah. He did. Did you even file that complaint against him?" "Of course I did," Dan hissed. "I just didn't follow up. Damn it, I should have. I had a lot of time in Hell to think about things I wish I'd done differently. And fighting BS racists like that in the department is definitely one of them." Amenadiel said, "OK, then I will." Dan replied, "Be careful. There's gotta be a reason Reiben is impervious to complaints. Who knows who he's got in his corner. Damn it, I wish I was really here, so I could help you." Amenadiel sighed, "I wish you could too."

"Wish I could what?" Loretta had come back. Amenadiel lied, "I wish you could open up your own bakery, Miss Loretta, because I would eat this deliciousness every day!" Loretta smiled, "See? Now this is what policing should be about. Spending time with the community." Amenadiel nodded, "Yes, ma'am, praising your cooking." Loretta chuckled, "You got that right." Amenadiel chuckled as well, "Last question, Miss Loretta, do you know where Michaela is now?" Loretta shook her head, "Afraid not. And I imagine wherever she is, right about now, she is scared to death. You find her. You look after her, OK?" Amenadiel nodded, "Yes, ma'am."

Meanwhile, Lucifer had brought Rory and Carlos to his posh car. Carlos made Dude go back to the guest suite. He told Rory to get in the driver's seat and Lucifer sat down in the front passenger seat, "You can't get more grown up than learning to drive the most sophisticated vehicle ever produced. 1962 Corvette Stingray. Naught to 60 in 5.9 seconds, with a top speed of 140 miles per hour. A true American beauty." "So what am I suppose to do?" Carlos asked. "This car only has two seats." Lucifer turned to him, "I'm going to teach your sister how to drive this car. You already know how to drive it. And I know you have your moped somewhere around here so you can drive that behind us." Rory groaned, "Can we go now?" She turned the car on and Lucifer said, "Easy on the gas. Now remember, she requires an extremely gentle touch, much like a lover. If you take care of her, she will take care…." Rory then pressed on the gas hard and went speeding off. Carlos chuckled from his spot and thought, "Maybe Dad's right. I think I remember where I left my moped."

Rory was speeding past multiple cars and not caring about traffic laws. Lucifer said, "Right. She sticks a little between third and fourth so you might wanna…." Rory shifted gears and sped up more, flying past other cars. Lucifer shouted, "Look, when I said the top speed was 140, I didn't mean you had to prove it!" Rory continued to speed and when a red traffic light came up, she slammed on the brakes and stopped just in time. Lucifer sighed, "You might just want to pump the brakes next time. Rory looked over and saw a lady in the car next to her and winked at her flirtatiously. Lucifer noticed this and glared red eyes at the lady. The lady then sped off and Lucifer said, "Unbelievable! Did you see her run that red light?" Rory glared at him and Lucifer scoffed, "Well, I'm sorry, but she was twice your age!" Rory then pressed hard of the gas and did a big U-turn, the back end of the car crashing into some trash cans, scratching the car. Rory chuckled, "Whoops. So that's where that scratch came from." Lucifer sighed, "OK, that's probably enough for today, so you can pull over."

Rory did and Lucifer sighed, "That was….very fast. I mean, you picked it up very quickly, didn't you? Very quickly." Rory nodded, "Yeah. 'Cause it's my car." Lucifer realized, "Oh. Right. Well, seems you got your driving skills from me as well, then." Rory revealed, "Actually, Mom taught me." Lucifer sighed, "Of course she did." Rory chuckled, "So Carlos has a moped. Bet he can't catch up with us now."

But then they heard something speeding towards them. They turned to see Carlos coming their way on his moped. He miraculously stopped right next to them, Rory's mouth slightly dropping. Carlos smirked, "There you two are. I figured there was going to be a mess in traffic thanks to you, sis." "How did you get here so quickly?" Rory asked. "Trade secret," Carlos said. "I'm good at finding things, remember? Plus, this moped is more than it looks." Rory asked, "Then let's put that to the test, shall we?" Carlos grinned, "You're on. First one to the pier wins." "Alright then," Rory said as they both revved their engines, Lucifer sighing to himself. Then they both sped off towards the pier. Rory thought she was getting the upper hand when she got in front of Carlos on the road next to the ocean, thinking Carlos had no way of getting ahead of her. But she got surprised when Carlos then turned and drove right towards the ocean. Carlos chanted to the moped, "Noble steed, proud and fair, you will take me anywhere." His ring glowed along with the moped and he drove right to the water and started to drive on top of it. Rory saw this in the corner of her eye and Carlos was getting ahead of her. This made easier for Carlos to get to the pier first as his moped then jumped off the water, landing right in the middle of the parking lot next to the pier. Rory and Lucifer arrived 30 seconds later. Rory parked next to him, "How did you do that?" Carlos just chuckled as Lucifer sighed, "He has magic, remember? OK, we're swapping now."

Over at LAPD, Amenadiel was walking towards the lieutenant's office when Sonya walked up to him, "Hey, where are you headed?" "To the lieutenant's office," Amenadiel revealed. "What are you doing?" Sonya asked. Amenadiel said, "Yesterday's murder wasn't a gang shooting. Remember that second toothbrush I found? Turns out that it belongs to the vic's girlfriend, Michaela Williams. Now, I think she was there when Kevin was shot. And get this, the guy who lived in Kevin's apartment right before him was a bad dude named Sam Ravinski. Goes by Sam the Snake. You should see the rap sheet on this guy! My theory, someone busted into Kevin's apartment looking for Sam! Textbook case of mistaken identity. I was just on my way to talk to the lieutenant about it." Sonya sighed, "You call this keeping your head down? You're like one of those whack a mole games, stuck in the about to be smacked position." Amenadiel said, "Look, I know you're just trying to protect me, but Michaela is the one that needs our help. CSU found her blood at the scene. That means she's out there, Harris. She's injured, probably terrified."

Sonya sighed, 'Unfortunately, none of that matter right now." Amenadiel huffed, "Right. Wouldn't wanna rock the boat. That would be a career killer. Except I found out that you chose to kill your career. That you turned down a detective job." Sonya scoffed, "Wow. So you're investigating me now, rookie?" Amenadiel shook his head, "No. I was just talking to my friend Chloe." "Chloe Decker?" Sonya asked. "Chloe and I play by very different sets of rules. Chloe's dad was a cop, so she's legacy. Also there's…What is it about Chloe? Oh, right. She's white. Yes. I turned down a detective's seat because they wanted to ship me out to the Palisades, get me far away from the 'hood. One less tattletale. Like I said, used to have a mouth on me." "Used to?" Amenadiel asked. Sonya continued, "Anyway, I turned it down. 'Cause I need to be here, where I can do the most good, even if it means wearing these blues the rest of my life." Amenadiel replied, "That's just something else that we can bring to the lieutenant." Sonya said, "Who do you think gave Reiben the promotion, even after all those complaints against him?"

Suddenly James walked up to them, "Hey, rookie. Conference room. Now." James walked off to the conference room, and after Sonya said, "Good luck," Amenadiel followed James into the conference room. James poured himself some water, "Heard you've been doing some detective work behind my back. On your first day as a beat cop. Do I have that right? Because that takes some serious cojones." Amenadiel nodded, "Yes, sir. See, the training Manuel says to examine a scene from both inside and out, that evidence found leading up to and away from a scene could be vital. And Miss Lopez did find something outside that bathroom, sir. So, if you wanna reprimand me, well, then you go right ahead. But I stand by what I did."

But James surprised him, "You should. And I get why you did it." Amenadiel was confused, "You do?" James nodded, "You don't trust me, and why wouldn't you? You met me at my worst." "So then you do remember me," Amenadiel said. James replied, "How can I forget? I'll always regret how I treated that kid. You know what's not in the manual? How tough this job is. Sometimes, when you're in the middle of it, adrenaline pumping, fear can get the best of you. But I want you to know, the person you saw that day, that's not me. That's not the kind of man I am." "What kind of man are you then?" Amenadiel asked. "The kind that owns up to his mistakes," James replied. "Which is why I brought you in, to say you made the right call. And thanks to you, we're closing in on the killer. Got a hit on those prints Lopez found. Michaela Williams? And guess what. She's got gang ties. So it looks like I was barking up the right tree after all."

"Gang ties?" Amenadiel asked. "Ran with one, back in high school," James explained. Amenadiel said, "Sir, that was almost ten years ago. That doesn't mean she's the killer." James shrugged, "Guess it's up to a jury, huh? Good news is, looks like the vic clipped her before she took off, so she won't get far." "The vic?" Amenadiel asked. "There wasn't even a gun at the scene." James sighed, "Anyway, thanks again, rookie. Wouldn't have found her without you." Amenadiel stood up and walked away, trying to hide his anger.

Over at Lux, Lucifer had Rory walk into the club with him and Carlos walked in after he parked his moped. Carlos caught up with Lucifer and Rory as Lucifer said, "I've realized I've been going about this the wrong way. Now, of course Chloe has been an incredible mother to you. And of course she's celebrated every milestone in the most memorable way possible, which is why it's silly of me to try and recreate moments that you've surely already had. So I thought about something both Maze and Dr. Linda said to me." Rory asked, "Maze and Linda gave you the same advice? That's odd." "Indeed that is," Carlos added. "I know!" Lucifer replied. "Huh! So much so that they must be onto something, right? Anyway, they both said that I need to think about your feelings, Rory. And yours as well, Carlos. And Rory, the truth is, even though you had Chloe, well, you didn't have me. And I understand that there are some things only I can give you. Carlos, you know this, hopefully. For instance, no one knows better than I do how to party!"

Music started to play and people started to come out and party. Lucifer started to dance awkwardly. Rory looked unimpressed as Carlos sighed. Lucifer said, "Rory, look, I've even invited all your friends! As this party is for you!" "I don't know any of these people." Lucifer argued, "What? Rory, of course you do! They work here! So do they! Look, none of your loved ones have been born yet, so you know, slim pickings. But there is your favorite aunt. The one who puts sin in assassin. Maze is here." Maze walked over with a tray full of alcohol. Lucifer continued, "Now, no one has a leg up on debauchery like Auntie Maze. Except for me, obvi. So she's gonna give you all sorts of insight. Isn't that right, Maze?" Maze reluctantly nodded, "Yea, lesson one, people say you shouldn't mix your alcohol. But that's people. We're celestials. Carlos, this goes for you too. You'll be legal before you know it, so take notes." Carlos groaned as Lucifer chuckled, "So true. So drink up, buttercup, because I've got another surprise for you. Now get ready for a wild ride."

Lucifer ran off and Rory said flatly, "Whee." Rory looked over at Carlos, who said, "Don't look at me. I knew nothing about this. But he did throw a big party after he learned I was his son. Also about temporarily beating a prophecy, but that's another story." Maze sighed, "Come on, kids." She guided them over to a table and they sat down. Maze handed Rory a drink, "Sorry the party's so lame. But at least he's trying. That's something, right?" Rory scoffed as Carlos said, "It could have been more fun if I was in charge of the setlist. Actually, I haven't played music for this place in a while." Rory looked over at Carlos, "He made you play music for this place? Since when?" Carlos shrugged, "Since I first came to his doorstep. Like I said, I didn't tell him about him being my dad right away, so we made a deal. He's good with those things. He helped me with learning how to control my powers and I worked for him in the club. We kept the whole underage thing a secret."

Rory sighed into her drink and Maze said, "All right, look, I know how you feel. My mother was the queen of neglect. She didn't give a shit about me or any of her other kids. Heck, Carlos' mother was exactly the same way. Right, kid?" Carlos interrupted, "Please don't bring my mother into this. I don't like talking about her." Rory noticed the sad look on his face and remembered that his mother was not great, but didn't say anything. Maze continued, "But that's not him. He's just, you know, a man. Human or angel, they're just not as evolved as us." "Hey!" Carlos argued. Maze chuckled, "Don't worry, Carlos, you've shown that you're above that stereotype. Speaking of which, I handpicked the waitstaff. So they are all fair game. You just let me know if any lady or ladies interest you, and I will make it so. Carlos, I know you're off limits with other ladies as you have your girl back in Auradon."

Carlos cleared his throat and glared at Maze, "Maze, no more sharing stuff about me." Maze obeyed as Rory asked, "You have a girlfriend? You didn't mention that when you talked about yourself the other day." Carlos sighed, "Remember, trust issues here. You may be getting there, but not to the point of me telling you everything. But Maze decided to share that fact earlier than I wanted, but it's out there now. Yes, I have a girlfriend, Jane. And that's all I'll say for now." Rory understood that Carlos had trust issues, but she felt that she and Carlos were starting to have a good connection, but it slightly saddened her that he didn't fully trust her yet, as she was warming up to her brother. "Sorry, Carlos," Maze said. "Forgot about the trust issues. Keep me posted next time. Now, Rory, see anyone you like?" Rory chuckled, "Looks like you know me better than my own father."

Suddenly the lights dimmed and music started to play. The three looked over and saw Lucifer sitting with a microphone and dancers around him. Carlos groaned along with Rory. Lucifer then started to sing,

Every time I look

Into your loving eyes

I see a love that money just can't buy

One look from you

I drift away

Afraid that you are here

To stay

Anything you want, you got it

Anything you need, you got it

Anything at all

You got it, baby

Anything you want

Anything you need

Anything at all, you got it

Baby

Anything at all, you got it

Baby, you got it

During the song, Lucifer offered Rory and Carlos multiple things: money, drugs, jewels, and even new motorcycles. The song ended and it was awkwardly quiet. Rory was unimpressed, Carlos felt bad as he could tell Rory was not happy, and Maze clapped awkwardly. Lucifer felt the awkwardness and said, "Uh, free shots at the bar. Free shots, everyone." All of the guests walked over to the bar while Lucifer walked over, "I didn't have much chance to practice. So was I completely off-key?" Rory answered, "You're still trying to fix things. But you can't. It's all happened already, Lucifer. For me, at least. And you weren't there. Not for my first tooth or my first day of school. Not when I learned to drive, or fly, for that matter. Every birthday, every Christmas, every day! There's no way you can make up for it." Lucifer sighed, "I don't understand. What is it you do want then? I mean, I'd mojo you, but it won't work on you like it never worked on Carlos." Rory said, "Then just ask." Lucifer then asked, "What do you desire?" Rory started to tear up and answered, "I want you to leave me alone."

She stood up and walked out, Lucifer called out, "Rory!" But she kept going. Lucifer looked over at Carlos, who said, "Dad, I get where you're coming from. But instead of guessing what she wants or trying to make up for lost time, you should have just talked to her. I mean, you didn't do all of this for me when I come to your doorstep. So why now are you trying to do all of this? For Rory and for me? Is it because you weren't there for us growing up? Because you feel that you want to be a great father? Dad, you already are a great dad. Even though for me, any type of parental love is better than what my own mother gave me. Rory got that growing up. So maybe you should stop trying to overthink things and take peoples' advice too literally. Because honestly, I get how she feels right now. She's like me, a kid seeking answers for the past. Just sit down and talk with her and start from there to build your relationship with her. That's what I've been doing. One step at a time." Carlos stood up and started to walk away when Lucifer asked, "Carlos, you really think I've been a great father to you? Do you want all these gifts that I can give you?" Carlos turned to Lucifer, "Well, I mean, not all of your time with me has been perfect, but nothing's perfect. Dad, you've shown me love and care that Cruella never gave to me. And I don't need fancy, expensive gifts from you to show that you care. You just being there for me was all I needed. And that's what Rory wants to, despite what she told you.. Just sit and think about the next steps, OK?" Carlos walked away as Maze said, "The party was great." Lucifer sighed.

Meanwhile, Amenadiel was sitting with Sonya in her patrol car. Amenadiel said, "This is all my fault, you know. I put a target on the back of an innocent Black woman." Sonya shook her head, "It's not your fault. But next time, consider talking to me first." Amenadiel asked, "And do what, hmm? Nothing? While a bigot makes asinine assumptions instead of doing his job? No. An investigator is supposed to investigate, Harris. Look at evidence, talk to witnesses. I mean, do you see what's happening?" Sonya retorted, "Are you seriously trying to school me after being here for a hot minute?" Amenadiel sighed, "I'm sorry, I just don't…."

"I have a niece in first grade," Sonya interrupted. "I was asked to do Career Day at her school. God, I was so excited to empower these kids, especially the girls, you know, that they could be like me. You know what I felt when I set foot on that campus? Fear. These kids don't have the luxury to separate the person from the uniform. This uniform took their mom away. This uniform killed their brother. They're terrified of us. And every day we give them thousands of reasons why they should be. And yeah, I see." Amenadiel said, "But we have to try and change that." Sonya replied, "Yeah, but not by bulldozing into the lieutenant's office. You gotta dance between the raindrops. You gotta be accessible, be there every day. This is why I didn't wanna get groomed into a cushy job in the Palisades. If I see another cop pull over a person of color, I can watch. If I see something, I can say something. But carefully. To the right person." "To the right person?"

Amenadiel asked. "No, that can't be it. You're only one person, Harris. You can't be everywhere." Sonya sighed, "Yeah, well, there's the battles and then there's the war, but, you know, you don't have to worry about that yet." "Yes, I do," Amenadiel argued. "No, you don't," Sonya insisted. "I would think before taking my side. I'm kind of the kid who gets picked last for dodgeball around here." Amenadiel replied, "Well, I don't know what dodgeball is, so whatever it is, I would pick you first." Sonya chuckled, "You're a weird one. But you're all right."

Suddenly a car pulled up next to them and Amenadiel asked, "Who's that?" Sonya answered, "Let's just say I might know a guy." They got out of the police cruiser and a female doctor, Jessica, got out of her car, "Who's that?" Sonya answered, "New partner. You can trust him. Amenadiel, this is Dr. Lamotte. She runs a free clinic around the corner from Kevin Campbell's apartment. Why don't you catch him up on what you told me on the phone?" Jessica explained, "Michaela came by the clinic yesterday. She had a gunshot wound in the thigh. Close to the artery. She was bleeding pretty bad. I patched her up the best I could." "You know where she is now?" Amenadiel asked. Jessica pulled out a container, "No, but I do have this." She handed it to Sonya and continued, "That's the slug I pulled out of Michaela's thigh." Sonya replied, "Thank you, Doctor, for helping us and her. And, hey, if you talk to her again, please give her my number." Jessica got back into her car and left as Sonya told Amenadiel, "This is great. But how the hell are we gonna run this without anyone finding out?" Amenadiel smirked, "I might know a guy."

They secretly took the bullet to Ella, and she ran some tests on it, "OK. So ballistics ran the slug. Oh. Don't worry. Linus from night shift did it, and he owes me big time for introducing him to my amazing D&D squad. Anyway, the bullet not only matches the one found in your victim, Kevin Campbell, but Linus rushed both through NIBIN and got a hit. Nine millimeter, owned by some scary ass loan shark leg breaker named Logan McCarthy. Now, apparently McCarthy has a reputation for getting all shooty on yahoos who owe him money." Amenadiel said, "I bet Sam the Snake was one of those yahoos. They guy who lived in Kevin Campbell's apartment before."

Sonya's phone went off and she answered it, "Officer Harris." Sonya put it on speaker when she realized it was Michaela, who said, "Dr. Lamotte gave me your number. I didn't know who else to call." "Michaela," Sonya said. Michaela replied, "Yeah, the doctor said I could trust you." "You can," Sonya said. "Are you all right? Tell us where you are." "Hiding," Michaela replied. "I'm scared. I went back to the clinic, but he must have guessed I would, 'cause he followed me when I left." "Who?" Sonya asked. "Who followed you?" "The man who killed Kevin," Michaela answered. "I saw him do it, and he knows I saw. You have to help me." "Of course," Sonya said. "Just tell us where you are." "Inglewood Cemetery," Michaela answered. "In the big mausoleum on the right. Hurry, please." "Won't need Carlos' mirror then," Amenadiel mumbled, which Ella slightly heard. Sonya said, "Stay where you are, we'll be right there." She hung up and told Amenadiel, "Let's roll." They ran out as Ella thought, "What did Amenadiel mean by Carlos' mirror?"

Sonya and Amenadiel arrived at the cemetery and walked to the mausoleum that Michaela said she was hiding in. They walked inside and pulled out their guns and flashlights. Amenadiel saw blood on the floor and he and Sonya followed it. They heard a loud noise and turned towards it. Michaela ran out with her hands up, "Don't shoot! Don't shoot, please." Amenadiel and Sonya put their guns away and Sonya said, "Michaela, it's Officer Harris. We spoke on the phone. Are you all right? You OK?" Michaela's leg wound was bleeding again, "Yeah, I just, uh, I think I ripped my stitches." Sonya replied, "OK, we need to get you out of here." Michaela tensed up and Amenadiel asked, "Is it your leg?" Michaela answered, "He's out there. You didn't see him? I saw him. I'm not lying. And I saw him shoot Kevin. It was so loud. The gun. Kevin didn't even have a chance to react. I saw Kevin's head fall back, and I couldn't think. I screamed, and I ran into the bathroom, and I got out the window. And he came in and shot at me. I know you think I did it, but I didn't. I would never ever hurt Kevin. I loved him so much. You have to believe me." "I do," Amenadiel said. "We do, Michaela. And we're here to help you." "You can trust us," Sonya added. "Let's get you some help, OK?"

They helped her out of the building and were almost to their car when shots fired at them. They all ran for cover as Sonya said into her radio, "Car 77, under fire. We need backup." Michaela hid behind a truck and shook with fear. Sonya asked, "Eyes on the shooter?" "Negative," Amenadiel answered. He stood up and saw the shooter, Logan, standing behind a pillar, and Sonya shouted, "Get down! Do you wanna get shot?" Amenadiel got back down and Sonya started to fire back at the shooter. She knelt back down and shouted, "This whole cemetery is surrounded by half a dozen cars! You know better than I that killing cops is gonna take this to another level of bad." Surprisingly, Logan stepped out and replied, "OK. I'm unarmed." He put his gun on the ground.

Several cop cars pulled up and they pointed their guns at Michaela, as they thought she was the suspect. One officer shouted at her, "On the ground, now!" "Me?" Michaela asked. "He's got the gun!" "I said, on the ground!" The officer said. Amenadiel ran out, "Whoa, whoa, whoa! She's the victim! That man is the perpetrator." James came out with his gun, "What are you doing? Take her down! I said get her! She's armed." Amenadiel stood in front of Michaela, which made James say, "Get away from her, you idiot!" Amenadiel replied, "No, I'm not gonna do that because she's innocent." "That's our killer!" James shouted. Amenadiel shouted back, "No! I'm not gonna do that!" James realized that Amenadiel was not going to back down and put his gun away, "We'll see. Take them both in." Another officer went over and handcuffed Logan and Amenadiel turned and made sure Michaela was all right. He and Sonya guided her to their car.

Over at LAPD, Michaela was sitting in a car after getting handcuffs off of her by another officer. Sonya and Amenadiel were standing a few feet away from her. Sonya said, "The evidence that you dug up cleared her. You did some good work." Amenadiel looked over at Sonya and asked, "How do you do that, hmm? Do this? Day after day. Because I don't think I can." Sonya sighed, "What Michaela went through wasn't right." "Not right?" Amenadiel asked. "It was criminal. She, a completely innocent woman, was almost killed by the people who are supposed to protect her. If we hadn't been there tonight…."

"But we were," Sonya interrupted. "We were. That's how I do it. And that's why I do it. And why I have to keep after it. Why we have to." Amenadiel smiled and nodded. Sonya then said, "Uh, by the way, you still owe me ten bucks." Amenadiel was confused, so Sonya hit his shoulder and dust flew off, Amenadiel groaned, remembering the bet she made that his uniform was going to get dirty. Sonya chuckled, "Looks like you're lying coffees tomorrow. Both of them. Let's go drive her home."

Sonya and Amenadiel guided Michaela over to the elevator to head to the car to take her home. Amenadiel looked over and saw Chloe and Ella looking over at them and Amenadiel gave them a look then walked away with Sonya and Michaela. He saw Dan standing nearby as well. They took Michaela back to Kevin's apartment so that she could get some of her things and grieve for Kevin.

Chloe went to the file room and started looking over all the complaints on different officers and she realized that something was wrong by how many she had found.

Back at Lux, Carlos was sitting by the piano and Dude was in his lap. Dude looked up at him, "So do you know where Rory is?" Carlos shook his head, "No. I could tell she needed some space after everything my dad did to her today." "And you," Dude added. "You think your dad went overboard?" Carlos nodded, "Yeah, he did. But I know his heart's in the right place. He just needs to think more simply." "But truthfully you liked all thee Christmas stuff," Dude said. Carlos chuckled, "Yeah, it was nice to celebrate a Christmas with him, even though we just did last year. Or did you not remember that?" Dude shrugged, "I was passed out most of the time. Too many treats. So you aren't going to look for Rory using your mirror?"

Carlos shook his head as he heard, "What mirror?" Carlos turned to see Rory standing there. Rory sighed, "Let me guess. A detail I have to earn?" Carlos nodded as Rory walked over and sat down on the piano bench. Carlos asked, "How are you doing?" Rory shrugged, "I had my space. I hoped I'd find you here." "Me?" Carlos asked. "Why?" Rory sighed, "I just wanted to spend time with my brother. To hopefully earn more of your trust. Can I?" Carlos smiled, "Yeah, you can." Rory continued, "I'm sorry that your mother wasn't loving to you like mine was. If you ever want to talk about it, I can listen." Carlos said, "Thanks."

Rory walked over and pulled out a guitar that she found days earlier and sat back down. Carlos asked, "You can play?" Rory nodded, "Yeah. I guess I got some things from Lucifer. His musical chops. Like you did as well. Everything else about him sucks though." Carlos sighed, "Rory, I get it that you don't like him right now. But remember what I said, give him a chance and be patient." Rory sighed, "Fine." She started to play a song and asked, "Do you know this one?" Carlos nodded and they both started to sing,

When you're weary

Feeling small

When tears are in your eyes

I will dry them all

I'm on your side

Oh, when times get rough

And friends just can't be found

Like a bridge

Over troubled water

I will lay me down

When they started singing, Lucifer had arrived at the penthouse and saw the two of them. Carlos saw him and nodded. Lucifer walked over and stood next to them. Rory looked up and was a little apprehensive at first, but then Lucifer sat down and started to play along on the piano. Rory smiled softly and Carlos smirked. Dude looked up and started to sway with the music. Soon Lucifer joined in with Carlos and Rory with singing,

Sing on, silver girl

Sail on by

Your time has come to shine

All your dreams are on their way

See how they shine

Oh, if you need a friend

I'm sailing down right behind

Like a bridge

Over troubled water

I will lay me down

Like a bridge

Over troubled water

I will lay me down

Carlos smiled up at Lucifer and Rory as they finished playing and stared at each other, smiling. They all then started to talk to each other, softly, as Dude rested his head back down on Carlos' lap.
