Short chapter today, sorry folks! But I'm planning on adding some more action again soon, and hopefully that can make up for it! :)
Leo's eyes drooped with exhaustion as he spoke. "Because I think my dad has a machine that can help us. Like a big undo button.
"What are you talking about?" Piper asked, helping Leo lean upright against her while they sat on Festus.
Annabeth frowned. "I think he means time travel."
Frank rolled his eyes and at the same time Percy spoke, "That is so COOL! But what if it causes a ripple effect? Or tears the space-time continuum?"
"I'm surprised you know what a continuum is," Annabeth teased, "But actually, it's not a bad idea. The science behind time travel has always existed but never been possible. With the help of a god's machine, specifically a god of craftsmanship, we could build something with the ability to go backward in time. Then we can keep the ship from ever crashing in the first place!"
"Calm down, Wise Girl," Percy grinned, noticing how her eyes lit up with excitement at the thought of achieving such an incredible scientific achievement, not to mention preventing Hazel and Jason's deaths.
"And there's no extra fee to pay? Your dad can really do all this?" Frank asked hopefully.
Leo nodded, "Yep. We can do this and nothing bad is going to happen!"
The four demigods cheered excitedly and chattered for the rest of the ride about how grateful they were and how Hephaestus was going to get lots of extra offerings from them at camp from now on.
Meanwhile, Leo bit his lip, his father's words echoing in his mind.
"The Fates are going to cut your thread instead."
Well, Leo though, scooting over to join the conversation with the others. If I can cheat time, maybe I can find a way to cheat death.
