A/N: Thank you to all who enjoyed the first chapter enough to move along to chapter 2. I hope you enjoy how things unfold here, and don't worry, Emma will be coming in soon. :) Happy reading! A quick note, I know I have a lot of stories under my belt at the moment, I will get to them all one by one. More updates are on the way. But, just a friendly reminder, let's keep reviews nice and friendly. Any mean or disrespectful remarks will be ignored and deleted.
"Somebody help me, please!" She looked around at the empty platform, quickly looking down at an unconscious Graham. "Sir? Sir? Sir? Can you hear me?" She calls out to him, seeing no response whatsoever. "Oh, God, this is not good." Without a second thought, she jumped into the tracks, kneeling and bending down beside the man, her hand fanning above his beautiful face. "Sir? Are you alright? Can you… Are you breathing?" She leans closer, trying to feel him breath and catches a scent of his cologne. "Oh, God, you smell good." She says to herself, getting another quick whiff of the man's expensive cologne.
Brown eyes look up to see the next train coming their way, right on their platform as the whistle blows loudly.
"Oh, God…" Regina looks down at an unconscious Graham. "Sir! Mister! Oh, please wake up. Please." She runs her fingers through his soft hair. "There's a train coming and it's fast. It's an express." She glanced up at the train which was moving fast. "Oh, God, oh…" The next thing she thought about doing was to roll her body along with his own away from the platform, hearing the roaring of the train pass them by.
Once the adrenaline and fear passed, and Regina raised her face from the man's shoulder, she caught a glimpse of his tired green eyes as they looked up at her.
Graham wasn't sure who this beautiful woman was, and unfortunately he couldn't keep his eyes opened enough to find out. As soon as he heard a soft and gentle, "Hi," escape the woman's lips, he blackout again.
Regina ran right to the reception desk of the hospital. She had been waiting for news on Graham's state and no one has come out to tell her a thing.
"Excuse me," she called for the nurse behind the desk. "I'm sorry to bother you, but earlier today, a man was brought in-"
"What's his name?" The nurse asked.
"I- I don't know." It's moments like these where Regina wished she had at least dared to ask for the man's name.
"I need to know his name."
"I-" Regina looked over and saw a few nurses were rolling Graham right by the hallway, behind two clear glass doors. "He's right there!" She rushed over, surprised at being stopped by a doctor.
"Whoa, you can't go in there." Said the young doctor.
"You don't understand, I was-" Regina goes interrupted once more.
"Are you family?" He asks.
"No, but-"
"Family only."
"You don't understand, I was the-"
"You. Wait there." The doctor points to the waiting area, leaving Regina standing there alone, looking through the glass doors as they wheel an unconscious Graham away.
"Oh, I was gonna marry him." She murmurs to herself, not noticing a nurse with a kind heart, hearing her.
The nurse felt so bad, she helped Regina go right into room 401, where Graham rested in a hospital bed, a heart monitor repeatedly beeping right beside him. What woman can't see the man she loves? Especially around the holidays.
She guided the brunette toward a chair stationed beside his bed. Even unconscious, the man looked beautiful. He had a bruise above his eye where a cut was covered with two butterfly band-aids, and he was breathing on his own despite being in intensive care.
"Let him hear your voice, hun." Said the nurse before walking away.
Regina looked over at Graham. She scolded herself once more, because it took for him to be unconscious for her to start talking to him. But, well, it was now or never.
"Hi." She said softly. "Everything's going to be alright. I know it. It's going to be fine."
The nurse observed the brunette through the glass doors of the room, turning to a cop standing beside her.
"Excuse me. Is that the woman that saved his life?" He asked her.
"Yeah. It gets even better than that, she's his fiancee." She grinned.
The cop's brows hit his hairline. "Whoa," he smiled as he entered the room. "Excuse me, ma'am."
"Yes?" Regina shot up from the chair.
"Sorry to bother you, but I need to ask you a few questions."
"Okay." She nods, thinking it could be related to the accident.
"Excuse me, officer." A doctor entered the room. "May I have a moment, please?"
"Oh, sure." He turned to look at Regina. "I'll be right over there, Ms."
"Hi, I'm Doctor Whale." the doctor extended his hand.
"Hi," Regina shook the man's hand.
"Don't tell me about bus passes, where the hell is he?" A man's voice caused them to turn toward the door, seeing a family of five enter the room, arguing among each other.
"David, please, don't yell." A pixie hair woman told him.
"I'm not yelling. Who's yelling? I just want to see my son." He replied.
"Pop, please don't embarrass me." Said a slender brunette with a red streak to her hair.
They appeared to be a nice family, all bundled up for the cold.
"What is this?" Doctor Whale asked, while Regina stepped back, hiding into a corner.
"This is my son. How is he?" David asked.
"I'm sorry to tell you that he's in a coma." Said the doctor.
"On Christmas day?" The pixie hair woman grasped onto David's jacket, and cried. Regina could guess she was the man's wife.
"There's nothing to worry about. His vital signs are strong, his brain waves are normal. I think he's going to pull through this."
"Are you a specialist?" A much older woman asked Doctor Whale, who looked at the woman questioningly.
"How did this happen?" The pixie haired woman asked.
"Um, he was pushed off the platform at the train station." Said Regina, seeing all eyes in that room turn on her.
"Who is she?" David asked.
"She's his fiancee." The nurse spoke up, who suddenly had appeared in the room.
Regina's eyes grew as wide as every family member in that room.
"His fiancee?" Graham's mother, who Regina heard David call her by the name Mary Margaret as he held onto her shoulders.
"Yeah." Said the nurse, looking over at the brunette in question.
"Graham is engaged?" The brunette girl asks, shocked as everyone else.
"No, no, you don't understand-" Regina stops herself from talking through all the chatter happening around her. Was it a good idea to tell them that it was all a misunderstanding now or should she wait? They seemed angry.
"He goes away and he doesn't bother to tell us he's getting married?" David glares down at his comatose son.
"Maybe he was busy?" A smaller, older woman asked.
"Too busy to tell his own mother that he's getting married?" David's voice raises an octave.
"David, don't yell at him." Mary Margaret scolded her husband.
"I'm not yelling at him!" David yells.
Regina hid her face inside her hands, shaking her head at the mess of misunderstandings that roamed the room.
"If only Emma were here." Said David.
"Mom, are you okay?" Mary Margaret asked her mother, who hunched over while David held onto her. A worried look to her.
"Is she alright?" Doctor Whale asked, concerned.
"She's got a little heart problem. She's had three attacks already." The other older woman, standing beside the slim brunette with the red streak informed the doctor.
"They weren't attacks. They were episodes." Said the woman.
"Nothing wrong with her hearing." Granny Lucas said to the doctor, earning a glare from the other older woman.
Maybe telling them she wasn't engaged to Graham was a good idea. She certainly didn't want the death of an elder woman on her conscience.
"Excuse me, Doctor. What is she doing in here?" The younger Doctor stepped into the room.
"Hey, buddy- she saved his life." The cop intervened, glaring at the younger doctor.
"You saved his life?" Regina could see Mary Margaret's eyes light up.
Regina's eyes move to the older woman, who was smiling at her in form of thanks. "Yes, yeah, but, listen-"
"I thought he was pushed off the train platform?" Asked David, looking at the brunette.
"She jumped on the tracks." Said the officer.
Mouths fell open in shock at Regina's heroic act.
"You jumped on the tracks?" Granny Lucas asked, her eyes wide.
"Yes, but-" Once again, Regina went interrupted.
"Doctor, it's supposed to be family only." The younger doctor hissed behind gritted teeth.
"She is family." Said David, his eyes falling on Regina.
"She's the fiancee, you idiot." Doctor Whale retorted.
"Okay, look, I have something I need to say. I-" Regina shook her head. She need to tell them. She couldn't let this become one big lie. Family was important, and as far as first impressions went, she could tell this family loved this comatose man.
"I'm sorry." Mary Margaret approached her, literally with tears in her ears, making it even harder for Regina to say anything. "We haven't seen him in a very long time, so we didn't know who you were. We always wanted him to find a nice girl," her voice broke. "We're so glad he found you!"
Regina felt as the entire family gathered around her, feeling hands land on her back and her shoulders in gratitude, not only for saving their son, grandson, brother's life, but for being in his life. Even if they didn't know that she was nothing to Graham.
This wasn't going to be an easy confession.
