When they arrived at the clinic, Loki opened the door for Laney and let her walk in. "Should I just ask for Desi, or do I sign in? I've never been to a clinic before." Loki admitted.
"Just ask for Desi. She will know what's going on," Laney said softly, then pecked his cheek as they walked up to the counter.
"Can I help you?" The healer at the counter asked them politely.
"We need to see Desi please. Just tell her it's for Laney's test and she will understand." Loki said and the healer nodded then walked into the back. She returned almost immediately. "She said to put you in with Dia for now, if that's alright?"
Laney nodded. "That would be lovely, thank you," Both of them turned and followed the receptionist down the hall and into the third room on the right to see Dia and her mother sitting in the room, along with Desi. Dia currently sat in her mother's lap while she received her breathing treatment, but when she saw Laney and Loki, she giggled and clapped her hands.
"Hey!" Desi greeted them, then looked at Laney, not realizing Loki knew. "Do you want to step into the back with me and give me a hand real quick?"
"There's no need. We'll just wait until Dia's finished and do this together," she said with a soft smile.
"He knows?" Desi asked.
Laney nodded as she reached for Loki's hand and held it tightly. "Yes, he does now."
Desi grinned. "You'll have to tell me about that later."
"I will. But Loki wants to be a part of this, I'm not going to leave him out," she replied.
"I wouldn't leave him out, I just want to hear about how everything went." Desi admitted. "I can start the test for you now, because it takes a few minutes."
"Sure, just tell me what to do," Laney answered.
"I just need a tiny blood sample. We can do it right here, it's an easy test." Desi said and held up a small vial.
Laney held out her hand to Desi. "Prick away. You know I'm not needle shy."
"Just put your finger on top, it will be a tiny poke. After that, we just have to let it sit for around ten minutes." Desi said and put the correct rubber-like top on the vial, then held it out for Laney to put her finger on.
She nodded and barely flinched at feeling the prick to her finger. Afterward she accepted the gauze to stem the bleeding as she curled against Loki's side. "It won't be long now Loki."
Loki nodded, not sure what to say. Dia giggled and reached out for Loki again and without a word, he picked her up and sat on the floor with her. "He's doing a lot better." Desi said softly.
Laney smiled down at them and nodded. "He's warmed up to the idea just a little I think."
"I think he will do alright in time." Desi assured Laney. "He is doing better in this form as well." She said, since Loki was still in Jotun form.
"He's gotten a lot better in the past couple of days, but he's not completely comfortable," Laney replied as she leaned against the wall and watched Loki and Dia play. "I think it will take a decent amount of time for him to be one with himself."
"I know he still has a long way to go, but just look at how far he's come in such a short time." Desi said proudly. "You are doing great to help him." She said, then picked up the vial. "Are you ready?"
Laney took a deep breath and looked at Loki. "Let me see, then I will tell Loki myself."
"I want to see when you do, if that's alright..." Loki told Laney.
"Oh, I'll tell him right here, but I just want to be the one to say it."
"Alright, if the liquid in the vial is green, it's negative. If it's pink, it's positive." She reminded Laney, then opened her hand just enough to reveal a very bright pink at the bottom of the vial.
Laney stared into the vial for a few seconds as tears welled up in her eyes. Then she looked up and met Loki's eyes. "Loki," she called softly, making sure she had his attention.
He looked up at her from where he sat on the floor with Dia. When he saw tears in her eyes, he assumed it was negative. Standing up he pulled her into a one arm hug, being careful for Dia. "Perhaps we will try again in the future." He assured her, hoping the thought would give her some comfort.
She bit her lip and hugged him tightly before she leaned up and whispered into his ear. "You're going to be a daddy."
He tensed but fought the urge to pull away. "But... you're crying."
"They're happy tears," Laney murmured softly, then pulled away to look at him.
"So it's... positive?" Loki asked nervously.
Laney grinned and wiped her eyes. "Yes Loki, it's positive."
Loki nodded and held her closer. "Does this mean it's absolutely for sure now?"
"It does," Laney whispered, then pecked his lips. "We're going to be parents."
Loki only managed to nod again. He kept her close to stave off the panic attack that he felt deep inside. "Do you know the gender? Pink means girl, right?"
"I'm not sure," She looked over at Desi. "Is it still too early to know the gender?" she asked.
"Pink just means positive. It will be a few months before I can tell you the gender." Desi told them.
Laney let go of Loki to give Desi a hug. "Thank you. For everything the past couple of days."
Desi returned her hug. "Friends forever." She said softly. "I'm so happy for you. I think you should get Loki back so he can relax and process this." She said, noticing how pale Loki still looked.
"I will take him back to my place. I'm sure he will be okay, it's just a lot to take in. For the both of us really," Laney replied, then let go of Desi and returned to Loki's side.
"I know it is. Relax and don't forget to meet me here first thing in the morning, alright? And you can go to my place if it's easier." She offered.
Laney nodded. "I'll see where he wants to go." Laney held Loki's hand and squeezed it to get his attention. "Let Dia go back to her momma Loki."
"Oh, right, sorry." he replied and walked over and handed Dia to her mother. "Do we need to do anything else?"
"Not right now. I'll have some vitamins for Laney in the morning." Desi replied.
"We'll be by to get them and a few other things in the morning," Laney commented, then opened the exam door to lead Loki out.
"Super early, I want to get back to Asgard as early as possible!" Desi called after them.
"I'll be there!" Laney called back as they walked back down the hallway and then outside. They walked down the street a little before she looked over at Loki. "Love? Are you alright?"
"Is feeling like I'm in shock a reasonable answer?" Loki asked and squeezed her hand.
"No, it's not. I'm kind of in shock too. It just... it feels real now," she replied.
"It feels... terrifying." He admitted. "You know mother is going to go overboard with the celebrations." He chuckled.
Laney snickered. "I think she will too. Do you want to keep things quiet as long as we can?" She asked.
"Keeping quiet would mean not telling mother, you know that, right? She will be far too excited to keep quiet, I know that." Loki said truthfully.
"If we can, I would like to be discreet about the news even though I am excited about it. But I'm scared too," Laney admitted.
"How long do you want to be discreet about it?" Loki asked curiously. "There will come a point when we can't hide it."
Laney shrugged. "A couple weeks maybe? Maybe a month if we can. I'd like for it to be a surprise."
"I think mother could keep it quiet for a few weeks. If nothing else, she will know that I need time to process all of this." Loki commented, then walked Laney to their door.
"I trust your mother to tell her," Laney replied as she unsealed the door then stepped inside. "It's a lot to process for me too."
Loki led her into the sitting room and helped her sit on the sofa. "Do you need anything? I can get whatever you need so you can just rest."
Laney shook her head, then yawned. "No, I'm alright. Just a little tired if anything." She curled her legs beneath her and grabbed the throw blanket she kept on the back of the sofa and draped it over her shoulders. "I'm sorry I kept this from you. I had only been speculating for close to a week."
"It's alright, I know you must have been worried about my reaction." Loki said, ashamed of himself for making her worry. "Thank you for deciding to tell me now."
"I wanted to make you a part of finding out for sure, and you can read my actions so well," she replied with a soft grin. "I am happy I told you as soon as I knew."
"Who all knows? I know Desi knows." He said curiously.
"Only Desi and Gall know. I had questions for Gall and he answered every one. That's how I knew what to tell you this afternoon," Laney explained as she played with the ends of the blanket. "As soon as Gall saw my mark he immediately congratulated me."
"Is the mark that obvious to the Jotnar?" Loki asked, finding the concept a little odd. "How do we even be parents? I haven't exactly had the best example of a father."
Laney shrugged and reached up to grab Loki's hand and pull him down to sit beside her. "Gall told me there's different marks for different things. But I don't know how to answer your other question, love. I have watched you with Ari and Dia both and I think you'll be a natural."
Loki sat next to her and held her close. "What kind of marks are there, and for what things?" He asked, not feeling like he was a natural.
Laney curled up against him after she draped the large blanket over his shoulders as well. "Including the breeding mark I only know of one more. It's called the mate mark, which shows others you are claimed to that person."
"Have I made that one as well?" He asked, not sure if he would even remember making it.
"You attempted to at the lake, but it didn't hold," Laney answered. "You would have to talk to Gall or Desi to get more information about it."
"Why didn't it hold? Does that mean we aren't soulmates? Or is it just that I don't know what I'm doing?" Loki asked, worried about their future.
Laney smirked, then kissed his jaw. "We're still soulmates, love. Desi said that it was not a complete mark, that's all."
"Do I need to make the mark again? How does that work?" He asked, wanting to do it right.
"I'm not sure," she answered honestly. "Desi mentioned that it's a mark normally made when your beloved would be fought over by more than one suitor."
"I feel like I have gotten more questions than answers... would Desi be able to explain it better, or should I ask Gall?" Loki asked curiously.
Laney sighed. "I'm sorry love. I wish I could be of more help. But either one can answer your questions I presume."
"It isn't your fault darling. It helps for me to just be able to voice some of these things." He said truthfully, then turned and laid with his head on her lap.
Laney smiled absently as she watched Loki turn and face her stomach, then nuzzle against her. "We can talk to Desi when we go back tomorrow morning if you'd like," she said softly.
"Will we have time to talk to her tomorrow? I know it will be a bit pointless to try once Thor shows up." He replied.
"Maybe, if we get up early enough," she answered as she ran a hand through his hair.
"Should we go to bed early then? It will be a long day tomorrow, especially once mother finds out." He chuckled. "How should we tell her? Should we tell Odin and my brother?"
Laney giggled at the thought. "I can only imagine Thor would want to scream over the rooftops that he will be an uncle."
"Yes, but I think he would respect our decision to wait to make a formal announcement." He assured her.
"We can tell him whenever you would like." Laney leaned down and placed a lingering kiss to his cheek, then looked out the window. "The sun is starting to go down."
"I think I am ready for bed, if you are. It is later than I thought and I'm not hungry." He curled up to her, feeling like he could sleep right there.
Laney looked back down at him. "We can go to bed if you wish, love."
"Are you hungry? I don't want you to miss out on dinner if you are." He sat up and wrapped his arm around her instead.
"No, not right now I'm not. My stomach is still too full of butterflies to eat anything," Laney said honestly.
"Let's go to bed then. The rest will do us both some good." Loki said with a smile and stood up, then offered her his hand.
Laney took his hand then stood and let him lead her into the bedroom. "Could you seal the door?" She asked while she tried to reach behind her to undo the clasp on the dress she wore.
Loki reached behind her and undid the clasp on her dress, then walked over and sealed the door. Afterwards, he walked back and his clothes shifted to just his sleep trousers. "Do you need help changing?"
She turned to face him as she slipped out of the sleeves of the dress, then let it pool on the floor. "Nope, not yet I'm afraid," she said with a smile. "But I'll remember you asking to help."
"Let me rephrase that... do you want help to change?" He asked with a little grin.
"There's nightshirts in that drawer if you want to get me one," Laney said as she pointed to the dresser.
Loki walked over and picked a pale green nightshirt. When he brought it back, he helped her change into it, placing little kisses on her neck and shoulders in the process. "You look beautiful darling."
Laney turned and faced him, then put her arms around his neck. "You're very sweet, you know that?" She asked softly.
"I try my best to be sweet, occasionally." Loki teased. He leaned down and kissed her softly. "Have I told you how much I love you?"
"You may have... but could you remind me?" She asked against his lips.
Loki kissed her again, then looked her right in the eyes. "I love you more than anything. My world is dark without you and it is you alone that keeps me sane. I always need you by my side."
Laney smiled and quickly brought his lips back down to hers. "You're going to make me cry."
"No need for tears darling." He smiled, then lifted her and laid her in bed. "You will need extra rest now that... you know."
She smiled up at him as she kept her hold around his neck. "I will... but for now I can do most everything that I always do."
Loki climbed into bed on top of her, then shifted to lay next her while never having her let go of him. "What can you not do?" He asked curiously.
"Well... I will have to get more information but I know lifting heavy things should be avoided. I think there's something about hot water too," she answered as she snuggled up to his chest.
"We will ask Desi about that first thing in the morning. I don't want you getting hurt." He said truthfully.
"Look at you getting protective," she murmured, then placed a gentle kiss to his lips.
Loki returned her kiss, then pulled the blankets over them. "I will always take care of you, always." He vowed.
Laney sighed happily as she let her eyes close. "And I, you."
Loki held Laney all night while they slept. Once he had dozed off, his hand moved to rest on her stomach, and that is how he woke the next morning. The curtain was open and the first rays of sunlight woke him. "Gods it's early." He groaned, but knew they had to be up soon.
Laney grumbled at Loki's movement, but when she felt his hand resting on her stomach, a wide grin came to her face, even though it was hidden from his view in the crook of his neck. "Has the sun risen?" she mumbled.
"It is just now starting to rise." He mumbled, wishing he could sleep longer. "We should get ready soon before Desi shows up here to find us." He chuckled.
"I guess we should," Laney answered with a sigh. Laney placed a gentle kiss on his neck then moved to sit up. "I cannot wait to see Desi's face when she sees Thor has come."
Loki sat up as well, then got out of bed and stretched. "I think they will both be very happy to see each other. I know my brother has missed her." He replied, then his clothes shifted so he was dressed in black trousers and a casual green tunic.
Laney watched him with a smirk on her face. "You are such a show off sometimes."
"I wasn't even trying to show off this time. It's just too early for me to bother with doing things the long way." He chuckled and quickly ran a brush through his hair.
Laney yawned and stood to stretch her arms above her head. "Could you do that for me?" she asked playfully. "Pick something you would like to see me wear."
Loki looked her over from head to toe, then shifted her clothes into something close to a string bikini. "That looks pretty good." He said with a mischievous grin.
Laney looked down at herself, then shook her head at him. "Loki, you are a pain," she said with a giggle.
"You did say to pick something I would like to see you wear." Loki chuckled, then shifted her clothes into a pale pink sundress. "There, is that better?"
"Much," Laney replied, then pulled him down for a sweet kiss. "Do you think we have time to fix breakfast? Or do you think Thor will be here soon?"
"He said he will be here just after breakfast, so I think we might do better just grabbing something from the bakery that we can eat on the way. I know you have to get some things from the clinic as well, and Desi won't want to wait around for us." Loki explained, knowing he would feel the same way.
Laney nodded and quickly grabbed the large basket she had packed some items into on the first night they arrived. "Let's go then. I don't want to keep miss Desi waiting."
"Is this everything you need to bring back with you from here?" Loki asked and took the basket to carry it for her. "No lifting, remember?"
"I packed some clothes, a couple of my favorite blankets and jewelry and things. I didn't want to pack a lot of stuff. But I still have to get some things from the clinic too." Laney let him take the basket with a soft smile. "I just hope that the less desirable symptoms neglect to arrive anytime soon."
"What kind of symptoms? We might want to consider hiring Desi as your private healer for now." Loki suggested. He took her hand then walked outside with her and sealed the door behind him before leading her to the bakery.
"Nausea and tiredness are big ones," Laney answered. "There's more than that, but I can't think this early." Laney kept hold of Loki's hand as she opened the door to the bakery and both of them walked inside.
"I will do my best to help you through all of it." Loki said truthfully and stepped inside. "It smells so good in here." He added, taking in the scent of freshly baking bread.
"Doesn't it?" Laney agreed. They walked up to the counter and looked at the sign, which read what was fresh baked. "What are you thinking?"
"I think a berry pastry and a breakfast sandwich." Loki said after looking at the menu for a minute. "I will have plenty of time to eat while you gather what you need from the clinic."
Laney nodded and smiled at the baker. "We'll get a berry pastry and two breakfast sandwiches."
The baker nodded. "Coming right up, Miss Laney."
"Should we get one for Desi as well?" Loki asked Laney.
"That's a good idea," She quickly got the baker's attention again and asked for another sandwich.
"Three breakfast sandwiches and a pastry." The baker said and handed Loki the order, which he put into the basket for easy carrying while Laney paid.
"We better hurry over to Desi's place." Loki said, seeing how high the sun had risen.
Laney nodded. "Let's go to the clinic, I'm sure that's where she is."
"Is that where we are supposed to meet her?" Loki asked and held the door open for Laney. Once they were outside, he took her hand again and walked with her. "I don't remember the way to the clinic from here."
"It's not far, just a few streets down, just past the market," Laney replied as she squeezed his hand gently while they walked.
"So... how accurate is that test she did? Is it something we should do again, just to be sure?" Loki asked her as they walked, still feeling overwhelmed.
"It was a blood test, so it's pretty accurate," Laney answered, just as they started to pass by the market. "There's no denying it now."
Loki nodded. "I just wanted to make sure... it is still hard to wrap my head around." He said truthfully.
"It's a lot to think about," Laney agreed as they turned on the street that would lead them to the clinic.
"What do we even do right now? Do we start trying to decide on a name or something?" He asked, completely lost as to what to do.
Laney chuckled. "I assume we have a while to wait. I do not know the gestation period we are dealing with. But we can start thinking of names if you want to."
"Is there someone who could tell us more about what to expect?" Loki asked, wanting to understand everything better.
"We need to talk to a midwife, although Desi will know a lot too. She's treated other pregnant women," Laney replied just as they reached the clinic.
"I thought she could do all of it. Maybe she can at least recommend someone?" He suggested, then released her hand to open the door for her.
"We'll have to ask her," Laney replied, then stepped inside the clinic. "Thank you love."
"I thought you guys would never get here!" Desi said as soon as they stepped inside.
Laney smiled at Desi and watched as Loki placed the basket down by the door. "I'm sorry Desi. We were awake with the sun this morning and we stopped by the bakery before coming here. We got you something too."
"It's alright, you're here earlier than I expected, I am just so excited to get back." Desi admitted. "Thank you for bringing me breakfast. I didn't eat last night, so I'm hungry."
"It's no problem Desi." Laney bent down and retrieved their food from the basket, then handed Desi's to her as she sat in one of the waiting room chairs. "Do we need to go into a room?" she asked. "Loki and I have a few questions."
"If you would feel more comfortable in a room, there is one open. Come on, we can eat in there. It is open for the next hour." Desi answered and picked up the basket to carry it for them.
Laney stood and followed Desi into the room, knowing that Loki was right behind them. Once they were in the room she opened up the paper bag and divided up the food between everyone. "Are you excited?" she asked.
Desi took a bite of her burrito and nodded. "Very. I was up most of the night, just too restless to sleep." She admitted after swallowing the bite.
"I can only imagine. It took us a little while to fall asleep too, but for a different reason," Laney said as she eyed Loki, who grinned at her. "Before you go to the gutter, that's not what I mean either," she clarified.
"That would have been my first guess." Desi giggled. "You both look a lot less stressed today though."
Laney nodded as she took a bite of her food. "Both of us are feeling a lot better today, yes."
"So, what questions do you have? We have a little bit of time before we have to finish getting ready." Desi told her.
"Well... do you know what sort of gestation period we're looking at? I know I was able to test a lot sooner than normal. I haven't had any nausea or anything yet," Laney said.
"It can vary, but a good average for a half Jotun is around six months. In another month or so, once we can track the development for a bit, then I can give you a more accurate due date." Desi assured them.
"That gives us something to look forward to. Loki, did you have any questions?" Laney asked as she looked over at him.
"We need to know what you can and can't do." Loki reminded Laney.
"For right now no heavy lifting, and no very hot baths. There will be more things when you start showing." Desi answered.
Laney nodded as she took another bite of food. "When do you think the symptoms will start showing themselves?" she asked.
"It kind of depends on if the baby is more Jotun or more aesir. If more Jotun, symptoms will show in just a few weeks. If more aesir, it will be closer to a month and a half." Desi explained.
"I guess we'll just have to wait and see," Laney said as she subconsciously put her hand on her stomach.
"In another week or so, I should be able to tell you more. The baby should be developed enough to tell if it is more Jotun or aesir." She assured them.
Laney looked over at Loki and saw he was a touch pale. "I'm sure either way the baby will be healthy. I don't mind what percentage it will be."
"The baby will definitely be healthy, I can pretty much guarantee that." Desi promised them. "Oh and the biggest thing of all, keep your stress level down. As I'm sure you've personally seen, the Jotnar don't handle stress well. Stress is harder on Jotnar babies than aesir babies."
She nodded as she finished her sandwich. "We'll do our best to follow the rules. Loki's already getting protective," she said with a proud smile.
"That isn't surprising at all. The Jotnar are very protective of their families." Desi said and gave Loki a little smile. She finished her sandwich just as there was a knock on the door.
"Desi... I think you need to come out here." A female healer called from the other side of the door.
Laney furrowed her brow and looked over at Loki while Desi had her head turned. 'Is he coming here?' she mouthed.
Loki nodded as Desi sighed and went to the door. "I'm not seeing anyone today..." She said, frustrated. "Sorry guys, we will probably need this room early." She told Laney and Loki, helping to pack up the remaining food.
The door opened and Thor stood on the other side with a wide smirk on his face. "You don't want to see me?" he asked.
Desi stopped dead in her tracks and just looked at him for a moment, shocked to see him actually standing there. "You're... here?" she asked, then crossed the short distance between them and threw her arms around him. "I can't believe you're here!" She squealed happily, hugging him tight. "I missed you so much!"
Thor chuckled and wrapped his arms tightly around her. "I'm here," he murmured. He pulled her away and brought her lips to his in an instant, unable to help himself.
Desi gasped in shock then returned his kiss, blushing deeply. "I guess you missed me too?" She giggled when the kiss ended.
"Yes I did," He answered with a soft smile, then pecked her lips once more before he let her go. "Does everyone have all they need before we return to Asgard?"
"Laney and I need to grab a couple things from the back, then we will be ready to go." Desi said softly, but felt reluctant to leave now that she was finally in his arms.
"What do you need to grab?" Laney asked. "I can get it for you, besides what you've prescribed me."
"I already have what you need, it's in the bag I have packed back there. I think I have a few vials left in my work cubby. I need those, and my bag. That's all. I packed most of it earlier this morning." Desi said, curling into Thor's side.
Laney nodded and stood. "I'll be right back then." She waited for Thor to step to the side and quickly walked to the back of the clinic and retrieved Desi's bag and opened Desi's cubby and removed the items from there before she opened her own and added it to the bag.
"How has life on Asgard been? I want to hear about everything." Desi told Thor.
Thor chuckled and looked down at her. "Asgard is fine. Father is doing a bit better, but the healers do not want him doing much still."
"Have they figured out what is making him ill?" She asked, still worried for Odin. "I would like to help if he will let me."
"I think his age has something to do with it, as well as stress. But his headaches are not as bad any longer," Thor explained. "Mother lets him sit in at court meetings, but that's it."
"Are you still overseeing the court meetings? Laney told me a little bit about everything that happened..." Desi explained.
"I am," Thor affirmed. "I do not know for how much longer though."
Laney paused just outside the door and smiled at Thor and Desi, feeling happy that they were reunited again. "I have everything," she said softly.
Desi looked over at Laney and smiled. "Does that mean we can go back to Asgard... we can go home now?" She asked.
"Yes," Laney said with a chuckle, "If you're ready."
"I am ready." She told Laney, then looked up at Thor. "I still can't believe you came here to get me!" She said happily.
Thor chuckled, then bent down to kiss her cheek. "It was a surprise. Both of these two knew I was coming," he stated, making both Laney and Loki chuckle as they began to make their way out of the clinic.
"I'm not surprised they knew." Desi giggled. "It was the best surprise possible. This has been the longest week of my life." She admitted, blushing at how people stopped to watch them.
Laney opened the door for everyone after they told the staff their goodbyes. "It was a hard secret to keep," Laney admitted with a wide grin. "I don't think I'll ever forget the look on your face."
"I didn't believe what I was seeing at first. My mind just kind of... froze for a moment." Desi giggled and kept her arm tight around Thor's while they walked. "How long did you know he was coming out here?" She asked, then glanced over at Loki who was contently eating his pastry.
"Oh... since before we arrived and surprised you," Laney said with a smirk as they walked. She looked over at Loki and grinned at seeing him so comfortable.
"This was planned the entire time? That is so sweet and romantic!" Desi said, looking up at Thor, blushing again.
Thor grinned down at her as they continued to walk to the outskirts of town. "It was hard for me to keep as well. I wanted to write to you and tell you, but I wanted to surprise you too."
"I like that it was a surprise. It means more as a surprise." Desi said truthfully. As they came close to the circle carved into the ground, she stopped them and handed Laney what looked like a small, bite size piece of candy. "It will calm the effects of the travel." She told her.
Laney gratefully took them from her. "Thank you Desi, I was wondering how things would go."
"Why does Laney need those?" Thor asked. "Is she ill?"
"No... not really." Loki said, then looked down and Laney to see if he should explain to his brother or not.
"Can you keep a secret Thor?" Laney asked. "I mean it... it has to stay between just us few unless I say otherwise."
"Yes, I can keep a secret." Thor promised her.
Laney looked at Loki and took a deep breath before she looked at Thor again. "You're going to be an uncle."
"That is wonder... wait... what? You mean you're... that is wonderful!" He released Desi for a moment and pulled Laney and Loki both into a huge hug. "I am so happy for you both!"
A loud laugh left Laney as she returned his hug. "Be easy Thor," she said, making him loosen his grip before he let them go. "Don't go telling Frigga or Odin okay? I want the both of us to be the ones to do that."
"Of course, I will not tell anyone, I give my word." Thor said sincerely. "When did this happen? How far along are you?" He asked Laney.
Laney looked over at Loki. "What do you think Loki? A bit over a week?"
"I think exactly a week, since it was the night I shifted." Loki said, thinking back.
Laney turned to look at a very happy Thor as he smiled at them. "We're happy, but scared and nervous. It's a bit of a surprise for us both."
"Don't be scared or nervous, you will both be great parents!" He chuckled happily. "My brother has always wanted a family with you."
A bright blush filled Laney's face as they reached Asgard's jump point. "Thank you Thor."
Thor smiled, then held Desi close. "Hold on tight." He told her as the Bifrost opened and took the four of them to Asgard.
Strong arms wrapped around Laney's waist as they landed back in Asgard. She was instantly grateful as her stomach rolled, having not taken what Desi has given her before the Bifrost opened. "Oh... goodness."
"Darling, are you alright? Did the medicine not help?" Loki asked, holding Laney close. "Do you want to sit for a few minutes? Or I can carry you?"
"I didn't get to take it," Laney said softly. "I need to sit down."
Heimdall grinned knowingly. "Welcome back to Asgard."
Loki helped Laney over to sit against the wall. "Take your time darling." He said, sitting with her.
"Thank you Heimdall, I hope all was well in my absence?" Thor said to the gatekeeper.
"Yes my prince," Heimdall stated. "Your parents await you in the family sitting room."
"Waiting for just me, or for all of us?" Thor asked curiously.
"All of you are welcome if you are feeling up to it," Heimdall responded.
Laney leaned her head against Loki's shoulder. "It's going away now," she whispered.
"We can stay right here as long as you need." Loki promised Laney. "No one is going to rush you." He promised and held her close.
She smiled and kissed his cheek. "My sweet Loki," she murmured, then lifted her head as she started to feel better.
Loki turned his head to kiss her lips. "We need to make sure you take the medication next time. I don't like seeing you like this."
"Morning sickness will be worse, I'm afraid," Laney whispered, then pecked his lips again before she stood. "Are we all going together?"
"If you wish to come with us, I am sure mother would love to see the two of you as well." Thor told Loki and Laney.
"Would you like to go Loki?" Laney asked as she turned to look at him.
"I would, but only if you feel up to it. I have also missed mother and would like to see her." Loki said truthfully.
Laney nodded. "I feel okay, we can all go."
Thor grinned and took Desi's hand. "Well then, let's go."
