Thor stood in front of his dresser, trying to decide on a tunic to wear. He sighed while he looked back and forth between a beige color and a dark red one, undecided.
Loki knocked on the door. "Brother, are you in there?" He called out.
"Yes! You may enter!" He boomed in response, although he still stared at the tunics.
Loki let himself in and found his brother in the bedroom. "Wear the red one." He said, quickly figuring out the issue. "Do you want me to go with you?"
Thor pulled the red one over his head, then smoothed it out. "How is Laney?"
"She is sleeping now and doesn't mind if I accompany you." Loki answered.
Thor shrugged. "If you want to come along, that is fine." A wide smirk suddenly appeared on his face. "I have something to tell you."
"I'm listening..." Loki said, curious as to what it could be.
"The outfit you changed Desi's to really helped us last night. We uh... got to know each other on a whole new level," he stated.
"Good, it's about time you got laid." Loki chuckled. "Does this mean you two won't be so nervous around each other now?"
Thor rubbed the back of his neck with a laugh. "I think it helped us both greatly. Desi is actually a very bold woman when she wants to be."
"That's good though. You both just need some confidence in being together. I've seen how you can be around women and don't understand why you are so withdrawn around her." Loki said truthfully.
He shrugged, then sighed. "Desi is so different from everyone else. She's accomplished and well written. Her mind is a lot broader than mine."
"Again, this is good. You and her kind of remind me of mother and Odin... you know all there is to know about war, and she's the healer. I have seen some of her records, and she could turn into a very good queen." Loki pointed out truthfully.
"Perhaps... but she is fairly quiet and shy about giving her point of view on things," Thor said as he led Loki out into the sitting room, then to the main doors. "Unless it's in the bedroom," he added with a smirk.
Loki chuckled and rolled his eyes. "She wasn't raised like we were. Desi is clearly intelligent enough to learn the role, she just needs to gain the confidence to speak up. I think being in the palace still intimidates her, but that is easily overcome."
Thor nodded in agreement as they left his rooms and started down the hallway. "I hate to make her feel pressured, but I agree with you."
"I would suggest you just talk with her first, explain how it usually works. Healers tend to be good at working under pressure, so I would say it's best to let her decide if she can handle it." Loki advised.
"Thank you brother," Thor said as he clasped his hand on Loki's shoulder. "I knew I made the perfect decision in making you my advisor... even if this is about more personal matters."
"A true advisor helps in all aspects, personal matters included. In terms of personal matters, I will always keep that confidential between just you and I." Loki promised and led them outside the palace.
"I would hope so," Thor answered with a chuckle. "I'm still wondering who Desi is wanting us to meet today. She did not say who it was, but my mind is curious."
"I don't know either, but I know she tends to make friends with people at the clinics, so that is likely all it is." Loki replied, not overly worried.
Thor nodded as they turned onto the path that would take them to the market. "She should be going on lunch soon," he said as he eyed the sun's position in the sky.
"Do you know what she plans to have for lunch? We could show up with a nice lunch if you think she would like it." Loki offered, trying to help his brother out.
"I do not know. Her tastes in food vary, so it could be anything from a salad to a sandwich," he replied.
"So we show up with a variety and let her pick." Loki shrugged. "We do need lunch for us as well."
Thor shrugged. "I guess we can stop along the way. It hasn't been that long since breakfast Loki, are you getting cravings like Laney?" he teased.
"Shut it, you know my magic makes me always hungry." Loki chuckled. "And... well, we only had normal food for breakfast. The other food fills me up better." He admitted, sounding ashamed.
"Loki, don't sound so defeated. It's a good thing that the food helps you." They continued to walk as they reached the market and Thor began looking over the food stands when a thought came to mind. "Do you think the other food would benefit Laney?"
"I don't know, I actually planned to ask Desi about that." Loki admitted and glanced around at the different merchants stands. "Mother might still have some of the food left over."
"I think she gets a shipment once a month. She enjoys the ice fruit herself," Thor replied. "What are you in the mood to eat?"
"After this conversation, not much at all." Loki said, miserable at the thought of Laney needing to eat Jotun food now.
"Loki... please don't turn sour," Thor chided. They continued through the market and turned the corner to see the clinic just down the street.
"This is all still a struggle for me brother... I don't want her forced to eat that food because of me." Loki grumbled softly. When they walked into the clinic, it was moderately busy with an assortment of people from various realms.
"Everything will work out Loki. You cannot tell me that you do not already care for your child. It hasn't even been that long." Thor looked around the clinic and decided to stay out of the way and lean against the nearby wall. "I've heard the bond will increase once you can feel the infant move from inside her."
"Of course I love my child! I nearly went to prison when her father grabbed them. I would do anything for our child!" Loki said firmly as a healer walked up to them and bowed.
"Your highnesses, how can we serve you today?" She asked them kindly.
Thor smirked proudly, having gotten him to admit it aloud. He turned to the healer, then nodded. "We're here to visit with Lady Desi on her lunch," he stated.
"Right this way, she is in the staff room." The young woman said and led them into the back. "Straight down the hall, it's the last door on the left."
"Thank you," Thor replied with a nod, then led Loki down the hall and into the staff room. "Desi?" He called once he came to the door.
"Over here!" Desi squealed, half in the closet. When she turned, she had a fresh blanket for the little elf baby she held in one arm. "You're just in time to meet Celest! I'm getting her ready for a nap right now." She said cheerfully.
Thor looked down at the little one Desi held in her arms. "Now where did you find this little one?" He asked as he held out his hand towards the baby.
"Do you want to hold her?" Desi offered. "Her mom is being treated right now, so I'm watching her." She explained. "This is part of what I do. I watch the little ones for families so they can be treated without worry."
"Sure," Thor answered with a smile and gently took the little one into his massive arms. He watched as the little girl cooed and played with the string on his tunic.
"Do you mind holding her while I fix up the bassinet?" Desi asked him, handing him a bottle as well.
Thor shook his head. "I don't mind. I love children."
Desi couldn't help but smile at the sight of Thor with the baby. "She's a very easy baby." She said softly, then walked over to put the blanket in the bassinet and get it ready.
"She's quite adorable," Thor replied as he moved the little girl to sit up in his arms so she could watch everything around her. Thor then looked over at Loki and noticed he was staring at the little one. "Alright brother?"
"Don't mind me, I'm currently plotting something." Loki mumbled, clearly distracted.
"Do you want to lay her down?" Desi asked Thor once the bassinet was ready.
Thor shrugged and bounced the little one gently, making her giggle, as he walked over to the bassinet and laid her down on her back. "What are you plotting brother?" He asked.
"I will tell you later, the plan is still forming." Loki replied. "It's good though." He grinned.
Thor chuckled and looked over at Desi. "I am sorry Laney is not with us. She felt ill this morning. Mother gave her a vial to put in her tea but it didn't seem to help long term."
"Yeah, I wanted to ask you about that, but then I got distracted. Is there something stronger she can have?" Loki asked Desi.
"If that didn't help, the baby must be more Jotun. I will send something better for her, now that I know." She promised, then took out the salad she had brought with her.
"It helped," Thor replied, "She was able to eat after she drank some of her tea. But her stomach still seemed a tad unsettled."
"It was bad enough that she's back in bed." Loki corrected. "Also, would the other food be better for the baby?"
"I don't know about this "other" food, but Jotun food would definitely be good and help the baby grow properly. It will also be easier on Laney, with the correct diet." Desi explained.
"Thank you, I will see to her diet myself." Loki replied softly.
Thor put his hand on Loki's shoulder, trying to comfort him in the only way he knew how. "Everything will be fine Loki. There's no need to be so glum."
"I'm working past it the best I can." Loki said softly, trying his best to accept his heritage.
Thor patted Loki's shoulder, then walked over to Desi and pulled out the chair she was about to sit in. "How long is your lunch?" he asked.
"It's officially an hour, but as of right now, I have an hour and a half before my next appointment." Desi replied and sat down. "Thank you. I have more food if you or Loki are hungry."
"I'm still full from breakfast," Thor replied as he sat next to her. "Do you like your post? You seem pretty happy."
"I do like my post. The people are nice and it is a fast paced clinic." She explained and snuggled up to Thor.
"Alright, I think I have a solid plan now." Loki announced proudly.
Thor put his arm around Desi's shoulders as she ate. "What is your plan?" he asked as he looked up at Loki.
"I will tell you later, on the way back home." He promised Thor, ignoring the suspicious look Desi gave him. "On a different note, when can we find out the gender?" He asked Desi.
"I can probably tell with the soul forge in just a few weeks." Desi answered and fully curled up to Thor.
"Loki has become excited about his upcoming little one," Thor said with a grin.
"That's great! I knew he would be excited once he overcame the shock. I've seen how he is with other babies and it's clear he will be a great father." Desi said truthfully.
"I believe he will be too," Thor replied, then leaned over to kiss her cheek.
Desi turned so Thor kissed her lips instead. "What do you think he's plotting?" She asked, noticing that Loki was lost in thought again.
Thor shrugged. "I have no idea," he murmured, then captured her chin in his hand so he could kiss her again.
Desi kissed him deeply and tangled her fingers in his hair. "I could get used to this." She admitted, blushing softly.
"Then get used to it," he whispered, then nipped her lip just to get a rise out of her.
Desi gasped softly and blushed deeper. "Don't get too playful or it will be torture for us both for the rest of the day." She teased and placed her hand on his thigh to show him that she could play too.
Thor looked at her mischievously. "Looks to me that you're the one doing the torturing," he said softly.
"You started it." Desi playfully accused, then leaned in to press a quick kiss to his neck.
"I did not," Thor countered, but tilted his head a tad to let her have more access to his skin. It was then that he noticed Loki staring at them with a raised eyebrow, making him clear his throat.
"Don't mind me, I'm just wondering how far you'll go before you remember I'm in the room." Loki chuckled. "If you want to find an empty room, I will watch the baby."
"I do not think that would be wise in the workplace, Loki," Thor replied, then sat back in his seat.
"That was the plan Laney and I had, so I think it's fine." Loki shrugged, unashamed.
Thor raised his eyebrows. "Seriously?" he asked with a chuckle. "You two are always in some sort of trouble."
Loki nodded. "We were going to sneak off so you and Desi could have lunch together."
"That does not surprise me in the slightest," Thor laughed.
"You used to be adventurous like that. What happened?" Loki asked curiously.
Thor shrugged. "I guess I haven't really had the chance to do anything like that, honestly. Although I changed a lot when... when you fell."
"Can't you just... change back?" Loki asked, feeling bad. "I don't want to make things more difficult for you."
"It's not difficult Loki, not anymore," Thor assured. "I'm still me, it just may take some time to get back into the swing of how things used to be. That's all."
"Practice makes perfect?" Loki suggested.
Thor rolled his eyes. "That may be so, but we will not start by sneaking into an empty exam room," he retorted with a chuckle.
"You will get there, don't worry." Loki teased.
Laney got up from her bed a few hours later and sighed as she felt her stomach growl. She looked down at her belly and laughed. "So now you're hungry?" she asked aloud. She climbed out of bed, then walked into the sitting room to find it empty. "I guess your daddy is still gone," she said aloud once more as she rubbed her belly. After a few minutes of thought, she walked to the main doors, opened them, then looked one way, then the other, hoping she would spot a maid walking their rounds.
The usual guard was standing halfway down the hall when Laney opened the door. "Lady Laney... the queen has asked that you find her in the family sitting room if you feel up to it." He told her.
"Thank you, I will find her now," Laney stated, then stepped into the hall and closed the door behind her and began walking down the hallway towards the family sitting room. Frigga was sitting in an armchair with a glass of iced tea and a book when Laney found her. She was very relaxed and enjoying a rare time of quiet within the palace. "Afternoon Frigga," she stated softly, so as not to startle her.
Frigga looked up and smiled. "How are you feeling? Desi sent a new potion for you." She said and motioned for Laney to sit if she wanted.
"I'm feeling a lot better," Laney answered, then sat down in the armchair across from her. "Actually I'm feeling quite hungry, honestly," she admitted.
"I have a late lunch on the way now. The potion has already been added to the tea, if you want to sip on that before the food arrives." Frigga said, indicating the second glass.
Laney nodded and made herself more comfortable in the chair. "Are the guys back from going to see Desi?" she asked.
Frigga shook her head. "Not yet, she sent the potion with a guard. From the message he delivered, it would seem the clinic had a couple critical cases so Desi got Thor and Loki to babysit." She explained.
"Babysit?" Laney asked with a laugh. "That's rather amusing, but good practice for them both."
"Indeed it is." Frigga chuckled. "At the time the message was delivered, they were doing great with the little ones and it looked adorable." She said as the maid brought the food tray in. In addition to the usual lunch assortment, Jotun fruits were also included.
"I love seeing Loki hold babies. He got attached to little Ari when his momma was being treated for burns before we went to Yamir." Laney fixed herself a plate and made sure to grab some of the special fruit. "How is Ari's mother?" she asked. "I assume her treatment is finished now?"
"She has a few days left, so you can see Ari again before they return home. She will be returning once a week for checkups for at least a month." Frigga explained and made her plate as well.
Laney smiled and took a bite from the Jotun fruit, loving the sweetness on her tongue. "That sounds wonderful. I enjoy being around little Ari myself."
"You said the babysitting is good practice for both of them... is there something about my eldest son that I don't know?" Frigga asked curiously.
"Oh, no," Laney said with a laugh. "I just assume that Thor will want his own children someday. I don't know if that will be with Desi or someone else but, it was just an assumption."
"I hope it is not out of place to say so, but I think your friend is a very good match for Thor, just as you are for Loki." Frigga said sincerely.
"It's not out of place," Laney assured, then took another bite of her food. "I think they're a great match myself. They complement each other very well."
"I just hope Desi can adjust to and handle the pressure that comes with being royalty." Frigga said softly.
Laney nodded as she reached toward the tray, wanting more Jotun fruit since she'd eaten all of what she acquired for herself. "Desi is shy by nature, but she has been amazing in high stress situations. She once kept an entire clinic full of people calm when a harsh storm came through Yamir and a lot of people were injured."
Frigga nodded. "I read about that in her file. Desi is quite accomplished, she just needs to see that we are just people. Once she is past the intimidation, I think she will do just fine."
"She was so nervous to meet Loki at first, but warmed up to him quickly. Thor on the other hand... I think Desi's had a slight crush on him for sometime," Laney admitted with a chuckle. "She was such a ball of nerves when we introduced her to him. She claimed she wasn't interested, but I knew she was."
"I'm not surprised Desi would withhold her interest early on. I can only imagine, like many, she assumed she never had a chance with him. Thor has not shown much interest lately... until Desi." She replied, happy he was returning to normal.
"I have noticed Thor has been quite withdrawn. He hasn't been his usual loud self since I've returned," Laney replied as she placed her plate to the side, feeling full.
"Losing Loki for that time affected him badly. They may have their issues, but he still cares deeply for Loki." Frigga said quietly. "I hope having Loki back helps him open up again."
Laney smiled, but it didn't reach her eyes. "I know how he feels."
"The last few years have been so hard on all of us. I just wish Loki would tell us what he's been through so we can help him heal." Frigga said sadly. "Anytime that comes up, I can see the fear in his eyes."
"I have seen it too, but he will not even tell me," Laney said. "I've mentioned a small bit of what I went through in the two years I thought Loki was dead, but he was upset at the time. I don't know if he remembers what I told him."
"I'm sure he does, even if it doesn't seem like it. I know you want to share your experiences with him as well, but please be patient with him. The fact that he won't tell any of us makes me fear the level of damage it did to him, and he's trying to work through that alone. I think this is why he seems so absent minded at times." Frigga explained, wishing she could help.
"He does seem to go into his own little world sometimes," Laney agreed, just as she heard footsteps as someone walked into the room.
"I am very worried about him." She admitted and turned to see who was walking in.
Thor grinned at seeing his mother. "Afternoon," he stated, then walked up to her and kissed her cheek. Then he moved to sit in the chair that was beside her. "Oh, hello Laney," he said. "I didn't see you when I walked in. Loki is actually on his way to your chambers, thinking you are still in bed."
Laney smiled at him, then stood. "I better go and meet him there then, no need to make him worried. Thank you for the late lunch Frigga, and the new vial from Desi."
"I'm glad you are feeling better dear." Frigga told Laney, letting her go. "Did you enjoy your babysitting?" She asked Thor.
Thor nodded and placed his ankle on his opposite knee. "She was a sweet little thing. It's not very often that you see an infant elf."
"No it isn't, the elves rarely travel to Asgard. I might go visit soon and meet them myself." Frigga replied.
"You would like them," Thor said with a smile. "Desi has rather enjoyed being around them."
"How is her first day going? Does she like her posting?" She asked, genuinely curious.
"Yes, she loves it," Thor beamed. "Desi loves being around children all day and meeting new clients."
"I have noticed she usually has a little group of children at her posts. The children seem to love her as much as she loves them." Frigga said, approvingly.
Thor chuckled. "I am sure the children around here will know her by name soon enough."
"They will all love her." Frigga agreed. "Desi will be a great mother someday."
"I think she will be too," Thor agreed. He then decided to move his leg, then lean forward to grab himself a cup of tea and some of the fruit that was left.
"Have you given anymore thought to talking to her about everything?" She asked curiously.
"I have," Thor answered. "I plan on talking to her this evening if she doesn't seem too tired."
"Let her have some girl time with Laney first, I know Laney wants to show her the ring... you can use that time to talk with your brother about his plan." Frigga said with a little grin.
"Oh, that's right!" Thor exclaimed happily, then furrowed his brow. "How do you know brother has formed a plan?"
"I have my ways and your brother is a clever one." Frigga chuckled softly. "I had a vision that showed me the outcome of his plan."
Thor raised an eyebrow at his mother. "Do I want to know?" He asked.
"You know I can't give many details about such things, but what I can tell you is that this plan helps greatly." Frigga said truthfully. "Oh, and it has nothing to do with lingerie." She chuckled.
A bright blush filled Thor's cheeks as he coughed. "Eavesdropping mother?"
"I have no idea what you're talking about, I just wanted you to know that this has nothing to do with any intimate topics." She answered with a little grin.
Thor sighed and shook his head at her playfully. "Desi will be on her way back soon. I'm going to my chambers to be there for when Desi arrives."
Frigga nodded. "Just send word if you need any of us, we all want to see this work out for the best." Frigga said truthfully, then picked up her book again.
Thor nodded. "I will mother," he stated, then stood and quietly left his mother to read her book.
Desi returned to the palace just before dinner. She wanted to see Laney before bed, but also wanted to clean up and see Thor. Deciding to freshen up first, she went directly to their chambers. Thor has just gotten out of the shower and was drying his hair with a towel, another around his waist. "Desi is that you?" He called, hearing the door open and shut.
"Yes!" Desi called out, sounding a bit tired but cheerful. "I am just going to get changed real quick." She told him as she walked into the bedroom, eager to be out of her work clothes. "Do you think it would be considered rude to show up for dinner in pajamas?"
Thor chuckled as he walked out of the bedroom, still in his towel. "You can wear something comfortable. There's no need to dress up."
"That's a relief. It was even busier after you left and I just want to relax now." She said, looking through her pajamas until she found a cute pants and t-shirt set. "That's a good look for you." She grinned when she turned and saw him.
"Oh really?" He asked with a raised eyebrow. "I could think of a good look for you as well."
"I might be interested in seeing what you have in mind later." Desi grinned, then turned around to change, but didn't leave the room.
Thor smirked and openly stared for a few moments before he walked to the closet and began to change. "I unpacked your clothes today and hung what I could in the closet. I hope you don't mind."
"That was very sweet of you, thank you." Desi said sweetly as she pulled her top on. After pulling on underwear and pants, she glanced over at Thor but tried to not be obvious about it.
He quickly donned a pair of underwear, then found a pair of pants, while the shirt he'd picked out from the closet was slung over his shoulder. "I hear that Laney is feeling much better."
"I hope she is, I sent a potion specific for morning sickness with a Jotun baby." Desi replied, still watching him. "I would like to see her before we turn in for the evening."
Thor pulled the shirt over his head as he sat on the edge of the bed. "You can go visit with her now if you'd like. I don't mind."
"I will soon, but right now I just want to relax before it's time for dinner." Desi said, and walked over to sit next to him so they could snuggle.
Thor smiled down at her before he gently grasped her chin and gave her a gentle kiss. "Relax all you want darling."
Desi smiled into the kiss and snuggled up to him for a minute. "Maybe I should go see Laney... I need to make sure the potion is helping so she can have dinner." She said and tried to hold back a yawn.
"You don't know what you want to do, huh?" He asked playfully.
"I know what I want to do, I just can't decide on the best order in which to do everything." Desi chuckled, then stood and stretched. "Do you want to come with me to see Laney?"
"I can if you'd like me to. I don't mind to visit," Thor replied.
"I would love to have you with me." Desi said truthfully, then turned to stand between his legs to lean down and kiss him.
Thor grasped her hips and eagerly returned her kiss. He smirked against her lips as he deftly picked her up and put her in his lap. "Then I'll be there," he murmured.
"Did our plans just change?" Desi asked softly as she settled on his lap. Leaning forward, she kissed him again and wrapped her arms around his neck.
Thor chuckled as he ran his hands up her back. "I'm open to anything. I know you want to see Laney... she has something to tell you."
"I do need to see her... and this might be better left for before bed?" She suggested, knowing she would only want to snuggle for a while after.
"We can put this," Thor said as he pressed her hips downward on his, "on hold until after dinner."
Desi bit her bottom lip, resisting the urge to move her hips against his. "You are such a tease. If there wasn't a legit medical concern with Laney, we wouldn't wait."
Thor smirked. "We will continue this later darling, I promise."
"I will hold you to that promise." Desi grinned, then moved off his lap to stand again. "Let's get everything done, now I'm eager to turn in for the evening."
Thor laughed and stood. "Lead the way dear."
Loki answered the door and stepped aside to let Desi and Thor come in. "Laney is on the couch." He told Desi. "Thank you for whatever you gave her, it has really helped."
"It's just a different morning sickness potion, but you're welcome." Desi said with a little smile, then walked into the sitting room to find Laney.
Laney smiled as soon as she saw her and quickly bookmarked her book. "Hi! I'm sorry I didn't come see you today."
Desi sat next to Laney and curled up to her. "It's alright, I understand. How do you feel with the new potion?"
"I feel more myself. I actually woke up from my nap pretty hungry and ate a late lunch with Frigga," she said with a smile as she wrapped her right arm around her shoulder, leaving her left hand in her lap.
"I brought more of the potion back with me and I will make sure you have plenty for as long as you need it." Desi promised. She started to say something then saw the ring that sat on Laney's left hand and gasped. "He finally asked you!" She squealed happily.
Laney blushed and nodded as she let Desi lift her hand to look at the ring. "He surprised me this morning."
"I'm so happy for you!" Desi giggled happily. "When will the wedding be? You have to tell me everything!"
"We haven't talked about it yet," Laney admitted with a chuckle of her own. "It's still sinking in honestly."
"This is so exciting! There hasn't been a royal wedding in nearly a century!" She finally let go of Laney's hand. "Oh my gosh, I actually get to go to a royal wedding!"
Laney giggled at her excitement as she subconsciously rubbed her belly. "I'm excited too."
"I wondered if he was close to asking you when he called you his wife." Desi admitted, then turned and laid down on her back with her head in Laney's lap. "So, Thor tried to buy me an outfit and Loki switched it to something more revealing."
"He had gotten the ring while we were out," Laney explained. "I heard about that," Laney countered as she looked down at her friend. "Loki was worried Thor would hit him this morning."
"I was embarrassed at first because I thought Thor had picked it out. It worked out very good though and let me just say... every single inch of that man's body is flawless." She giggled.
Laney raised an eyebrow at her friend, then giggled. "Look at you, being adventurous."
"I didn't mean to, it just kind of happened... no regrets though." Desi admitted with a blush on her cheeks.
"Once you start, you'll want it more. I speak from experience," Laney giggled.
"Trust me, I know. We almost went at it earlier, but decided to wait until we turn in for the evening." Desi admitted. "I wish you could have come to the clinic though, he was holding the babies and it was so precious."
Laney smiled. "I wish I could have seen that. Loki has warmed up to the idea of the baby so much now. It makes me happy."
"They are both naturals when it comes to babies. I never really gave much thought to having a family before, but I'm kind of rethinking that now." Desi admitted.
"I never thought about it until I realized how deeply I felt for Loki, though you know all about that," she replied.
"It's kind of funny... I learned about these things and even help others with them, but going through it myself, I feel so lost and confused." Desi admitted. "I was just never the girl that dreamed of falling in love." She chuckled.
Laney raised an eyebrow at Desi. "Are you saying you love him? Even after such a short time?"
"What? No! I mean... I don't think so. I was meaning how this is my first real relationship. I do have feelings for him, but I can't make sense of them." Desi admitted.
"You'll figure it all out. It's brand new to you, although I guess you could say it is for me too," Laney said. "Loki and I just have a lot of history."
"How did you know you loved him?" Desi asked curiously.
"When I realized I could not live without him," Laney answered simply.
Desi thought it over in silence for a moment. "I hated being gone for that whole week and felt like I was going to lose him. That made me realize I don't want to lose him... is that the same thing?"
"Thor looked lost when you weren't here as well. He sulked in his room and skipped out on sparring to stay in his chambers. Love doesn't have a timeline Desi, if you feel it, it's there."
"This is exactly why I never got involved with anyone. I know it takes time to build a relationship, but I also don't want to get hurt if it doesn't work out... and not knowing if it will work or not is driving me crazy." She sighed.
"Do what you think is best Desi, only you know what you want to do," Laney replied with a soft smile.
"I wish I could figure that out for myself." Desi sighed. Wanting to cheer herself up, she decided to change the subject and tell Laney about the babies she got to play with at her post.
Meanwhile, once the girls had started chatting, Loki took his brother aside. "Let's go for a little walk, I don't want them to overhear us."
Thor raised an eyebrow at Loki, but followed him out the main doors. "What do you want to talk about brother?"
"You know how Desi is so intimidated around all of us? I think I have a way to fix that." Loki said proudly.
"Pray tell, how would you be able to fix something like that?" Thor asked as they turned a corner and started walking down another hallway.
"It's actually kind of simple. You would have to make sure he's on board with the plan, but get Odin to really get onto you for something. Something that even she will know is completely wrong. Desi will challenge him in your defense, and Odin admits he was wrong. In front of everyone, she will have challenged the king directly and had him admit she was right. If that doesn't boost her confidence, I'm not sure anything will." Loki explained, still visibly proud of his own brilliance.
Thor looked at the ground while they walked. "It could work, but it's risky. I do not know if father would agree to do something like that."
"He probably would agree for you, and it can't hurt to ask. I would have suggested mother, but I don't think that would be nearly as effective." Loki admitted.
"What would the argument be about?" Thor asked.
"I'm not sure, but since she doesn't know all the politics like we do, I think something healer related would be best. Desi is more passionate about healing so she would be more likely to want to correct him." Loki replied, then turned towards the kitchen.
"That just might work if we used something like that," Thor agreed. "Are you hungry?" he asked, realizing where they were going.
"Trust me, it will work. Desi would not only be defending her own line of work, but she would also be defending your honor." Loki said with a little grin. "No, I just normally take this path, so I guess I was just taking a familiar route." He chuckled.
Thor smirked. "Well, I think it could work rather well. We just need to think of a topic."
"I would say he should just act like he's in one of his moods and start talking bad about healers." Loki shrugged.
He shrugged as they began making their way back towards the chambers. "I've never heard him speak badly of them before because of mother being one."
"I know that, which is why I think it is important for everyone involved, other than Desi, to know the plan. If mother didn't know, she would be likely to speak up before Desi could." Loki pointed out.
"That is very true. Mother would be very angry," Thor agreed.
"Laney would be angry as well, and if we do this, I will make sure she knows the plan." Loki assured his brother.
Thor nodded. "Let me speak to her tonight first and see what she says to my questions. Mother wants me to speak to her about the possibility of becoming royalty."
Loki glanced over at Thor as they walked. "That is what mother wants, but what do you want?"
"I care a lot about Desi. I do want to get to know her more, but when she was gone it was like a piece of me went with her. It felt differently than when I came home from Midgard without Jane," he explained.
"It sounds like this is definitely something special then. Just so you know, we are all hoping this works out for you." Loki said truthfully.
Thor looked at Loki and grinned. "Thank you Loki. I think it is too."
"You two do make a nice looking couple as well." Loki admitted. "I think I could deal with having her as a queen."
"She would make an excellent one. Desi is very smart," he replied.
"I think her lack of political training would offer a good balance also. She can bring a more personal, emotional side that the kingdom needs." Loki pointed out.
Thor nodded as they turned back to the hallway that would lead them to Loki's chambers. "I like how you think."
"Are you coming to dinner tonight, or having a private dinner while you talk?" Loki asked curiously.
"I think Desi will want to be with everyone else," he answered. "Although Desi is also wanting some specific dessert."
"What is she wanting? I'm sure it can be arranged." Loki said, not catching what he meant.
Thor chuckled. "Oh, I don't think we could put it on the menu. Others would not like the view."
"The view? What do you mean?" He asked, confused.
Thor turned and raised an eyebrow at Loki. "I know you are not dense brother."
Loki glared at his brother, then rolled his eyes when it hit him. "Gods brother, I didn't need to know that." He chuckled. "This palace will be full of children if we are all not careful."
"Desi is on a contraceptive," Thor replied. "But she's eager, I'll give her that," he added with a chuckle.
"Eager for children or just eager for her thunderous dessert?" He asked with a teasing smirk.
Thor rolled his eyes, but a tinge of red showed on his face. "She loves kids, but I am not sure if she has thought of having any. As far as dessert goes, she was quite excited," he chuckled.
"If I had to guess, I would say the dessert is equally excited." Loki chuckled teasingly then opened the door to his chambers for them.
Thor laughed as he followed him inside. "You could say that."
Loki chuckled and shook his head. When he heard Desi and Laney laughing, he stopped just inside the door, curious as to what they were talking about.
"We know you're back!" Desi called out to them. "We can hear the door." She giggled.
Laney sat up from laying on the couch to be able to see them. "What was so interesting?" She asked playfully.
"We just had some business to discuss... nothing big, just dessert options." Loki said with a little smirk. "Did you two have fun comparing our bedroom skills?" He teased Laney and Desi.
"Now why would we be discussing that?" Laney retorted with a smirk, although the mention of it made her eyes light mischievously.
"Because that is what ladies do when left alone." Loki grinned. "Well, have you decided if we are performing to your expectations?" He asked, grinning wider.
Laney rolled her eyes, but the smile on her face would be the only answer he'd need. "Tease," she giggled.
"You know you love it." Loki retorted. "Do you feel up to having dinner in the dining hall, or would you like it sent here?" He asked Laney.
"I feel good enough to go into the dining hall, unless you want alone time in here," she replied.
"It is up to you darling. We can have a private dinner, or alone time after. I am fine with whatever makes you happy." He said truthfully.
"What's your opinion Loki? What would you like to do?" Laney asked.
"There should be nothing of importance happening at dinner tonight, so staying here would be nice." Loki said truthfully.
Laney grinned. "Then that's what we'll do."
"I will have the guard send word to the kitchen." Loki said with a little smile and disappeared into the outside hall.
"We should go so they can have some time alone." Desi told Thor quietly.
Thor walked over to Desi and offered her his hand. "We can do the same if you wish to," he said.
"I would like that. You do have a promise to keep after all." Desi grinned. She gave Laney a quick hug, then took Thor's hand. "See you tomorrow!" She promised Laney.
"I will see you. When should I come for my first appointment?" She asked.
"I'm in the village again tomorrow, but I'll be working here in the palace the day after. I think that would be a good day. I can squeeze you in, in the morning or afternoon, whichever you prefer." Desi replied.
Laney nodded. "I'll let you know."
"If you are able, it would be great if you can let me know tomorrow, just so I can better coordinate walk ins. If not, don't worry about it, we will work it out." Desi promised, then wrapped her arms around Thor's arm. "Are you ready?"
Thor looked down at her with a soft smile. "Whenever you are dear."
"I'm ready, and hungry." Desi replied.
"Enjoy your dessert." Loki smirked as Desi and Thor walked by on their way out, making Desi blush deeply.
Laney raised her eyebrow at her fiancé. "Do I want to know?"
"According to my brother, he is dessert." Loki shrugged as he walked over and sat down with Laney on the couch.
She laughed and snuggled up to his side. "If Thor is dessert, what does that make you?"
"The main course?" Loki teased playfully. He lifted Laney's chin and kissed her softly.
Laney smiled into the kiss and wound one hand into his hair. "You make me want to skip dinner," she whispered.
"Sorry darling, our little star needs to eat." Loki said sweetly.
She sighed, but grinned at his endearment. "What's on the menu?"
"Me?" Loki grinned. "I think it is roast chicken or something like that. I only pay attention to the veggies."
Laney chuckled. "I think you'd live off vegetables if you could. But I know you like roast beef."
"I would live off of them. Meat is alright, it's just never been a favorite of mine." Loki said simply, then stood when there was a knock on the door. He answered and returned a minute later with their dinners.
"That smells really good," Laney said happily, then her eyes widened. "Oh! It looks like they added the cold fruit."
Loki nodded. "Desi said adding it is better for the baby." He explained softly.
"I'm happy they did. I actually... um... ate a plate of it during my late lunch today," Laney replied as she bit her lip.
"Oh... that... that's nice." Loki said softly, still struggling to accept it.
"I know it's hard for you," Laney said, "But once I started eating it, the fruit was gone. I craved it."
Loki nodded again. "I... I guess it really is good for little star."
Laney shrugged. "I know it's super early, but I guess it's just a food craving."
"From what I understand, the cravings are because the baby needs something, right?" Loki asked curiously.
"It could be me or the baby, a certain mineral or vitamin that either of us need," she explained.
"It doesn't bother you? To eat that food?" Loki asked and looked at the Jotun vegetables on his dinner plate.
Laney reached for her plate and speared one of the veggies with her fork then popped it in her mouth. "Nope, I actually enjoy eating it. If it's tastes good, I don't mind where it comes from."
"I feel the same way with other foods, but I guess this is just more personal." Loki sighed, but ate one of the vegetables.
"I understand," Laney replied after she finished another bite. "You'll get there love, I know it."
"Thank you darling, I am slowly getting there." He told her, then focused on eating the rest of vegetables. Loki only slightly picked at the chicken before setting his plate down while Laney ate most of hers and only left a bit of the chicken behind.
"Ugh... I am full," Laney groaned as she rubbed her belly.
"I can always eat more vegetables." Loki chuckled, then wrapped his arms around her. "How would you like to spend the remainder of the evening?"
Laney turned and wrapped her arms around his neck. "Wrapped up with you sounds rather enticing."
"How wrapped up would you like to be?" Loki asked softly and moved his hand down to her hip, then to her thigh.
"So wrapped that nobody could tell when I start and you begin," Laney quietly purred back.
"I think we can do that." Loki grinned, then slid his hand underneath her shirt. He leaned down and kissed her deeply while his hand caressed her side.
Laney eagerly returned his kiss as she arched into his touch. "That feels wonderful," she murmured.
"I'm glad you enjoy it." Loki said and rubbed her nipple with his thumb. "Are you sure it's alright to do this with the baby?"
"Yes, you cannot hurt the little one," she assured. Laney gasped and arched into his hand, feeling sensitive.
Loki nodded, then slid her onto his lap. Sliding his other hand under her shirt, he quickly pulled it off of her.
Laney grinned as she began working on the buttons of his shirt, just now realizing he'd been wearing Midgardian clothes for the day. "I really like you in this shirt," she murmured as she leaned forward to place kisses along the skin she uncovered.
"If you like me in this shirt, wait until you see me out of it." Loki chuckled, then moaned softly when she hit a certain spot on his collarbone. Laney smirked as she nipped his skin, then ran her tongue across one of his nipples as she trailed it across his chest. Loki gasped and gave another moan. He could feel his trousers growing tighter as he quickly became aroused. "You know my body too well."
She shrugged and moved to straddle him as she helped him out of his shirt and tossed it to the side. "Is that a bad thing?" Laney questioned softly.
"No, it's a good thing. I love that you know exactly how to get me worked up." He grinned, then pulled her hips down against his. Her answering moan only made him grin wider.
Laney bit her lip as she decided to roll her hips against him. "You know me just as well, my prince."
Loki groaned softly, now hard beneath her. "I need to get these pants off." He sighed.
"I can help you," Laney said with a grin, then slid off his lap to stand on her knees between his legs. She began working on the tie of his trousers, keeping her eyes still locked on his.
"Now you're just being naughty." Loki smirked and held her gaze. He reached out and combed his fingers into her hair.
Once she untied his trousers, Laney pushed both hands under the fabric to push them down his hips. "I don't see you complaining," she said coyly.
Loki shifted and helped her pull his trousers and underwear down. Once they were past his knees, he kicked off his boots, then the clothes as well to leave himself bare for her.
Laney pushed the clothing to the side then stood back on her knees as she ran her hands along his inner thighs before she leaned down and pressed a kiss to the tip of his shaft, which rested on his belly. "Tell me what you want," she whispered.
Loki lifted his hips when she kissed him. "Go down on me..." He groaned softly.
She smirked at him, then licked a trail from the base to the tip of his shaft before she took him in one hand to put him in her mouth. Laney's eyes stayed locked on his face, wanting to see every reaction he made.
He arched his hips again and tugged her hair to pull her closer. "Gods that feels good." He moaned softly, his voice now more like a growl. Laney hummed as she began to bob her head up and down along his shaft while her hands gripped onto his thighs. Loki's moans grew louder, trying to be careful about moving his hips so he wouldn't hurt her. "Just like that." he moaned.
Laney smiled around his shaft and continued her efforts before she slowly removed him from her mouth to take deep breaths. "I love the look on your face when you feel pleasure," she admitted.
"Stand up, I need to take your trousers off now." Loki said with a growl, a playful smirk on his face.
A blush filled Laney's cheeks, but she braced her weight on his legs to stand. "Do what you want to me."
"I fully intend to." Loki grinned, then moved to sit on the edge of the sofa. He caressed her skin as he undid her trousers and slid them down. "I want you to straddle me."
Laney ran her hands through his hair and relished the feeling of his hands on her skin. "I can do that," she murmured as she stepped out of her trousers, leaving her in just her socks.
Loki stood and helped her sit on the sofa, then knelt in front of her. He pressed gentle kisses down her legs as he removed her socks. "Your skin is always so soft."
She smiled down at him, running her fingers along any skin she could reach. "That feels nice," she said softly.
"I've only just started." Loki grinned, then kissed higher up on her thighs, getting closer to her warmth.
A gasp came from Laney's lips as she watched him dart out his tongue to taste the skin of her thighs. "You have me drenched," she murmured.
"Good, more for me to enjoy." Loki grinned. Standing, he helped her up so he could lay down on the sofa. "Now you can sit on my face."
Laney shook her head but smiled. "You're being adventurous today," she cooed as she took hold of his hand and let him help her get into position.
"This is how we did it the first time, and I liked it." Loki looked up at her and grinned. When he helped her move over his face, he quickly pulled her hips down to bury himself in her wetness.
Her head fell back the instant his lips touched her, while her hands found purchase in his hair. "Gods... Loki..."
Loki moaned in reply as he plunged his tongue between her folds. He dug his fingers into her hips, eager to taste all of her.
"Lo-ki... ugh..." Laney panted above him as she gripped tighter to his hair, making Loki moan louder in response then start massaging her bud with his tongue. A loud moan filled the sitting room as Laney tried to rock her hips against his face. "You're gonna make me... if you don't stop..." The way Loki moaned told her he had no intention of stopping. Helping her move her hips, he rubbed his tongue faster against her bud to help her reach her climax. Meanwhile Laney felt her legs begin to shake as her climax quickly began to wash over her body, causing her to screw her eyes shut and feel all of the air leave her lungs in a silent scream.
Loki flicked her bud to draw her pleasure out as long as possible. When her climax was over, he helped her move off of his face. "Ready to move to the bed?" He asked, breathless himself.
"You may... have to carry... me," Laney said breathlessly as she put her hands on the arm of the sofa above Loki's head.
"I can do that." Loki grinned. "Do you want to rest or do you want to continue?" He asked as he helped her shift to lay down against his chest.
Laney kissed him softly as soon as she could reach his lips, although was unable to hide the gasp as her sensitive warmth rubbed against his erection. "Maybe a short break... but I don't know how long I can wait to have you."
"You will rest better in bed." Loki said sweetly. He sat them up and wrapped her legs around his waist, then stood up. Holding her tight, he carried her into their bedroom and laid her on the bed.
Laney smiled up at him and caressed the side of his cheek. "I love you so much," she said softly.
"I love you too darling, more than anything." Loki said softly as he laid down next to her. Leaning in, he kissed her lips softly.
Laney languidly returned his kiss as she rolled onto her side to face him. One hand began to wander from his neck, to his collarbone, then down his chest. "You're my world, you know that?" She asked in a whisper.
"You are my world as well... and our world is getting bigger." Loki said softly and moved his hand to lovingly caress her stomach.
Laney rested one hand atop his. "Yes it is," she cooed, while her other hand made it to his hip.
"Waiting to find out the gender is going to drive me crazy." Loki said truthfully.
She chuckled. "What would you like for it to be?" She asked softly while she caressed his hip bone, still feeling playful.
"I don't think I care, I just want to know. I want to start buying everything the baby needs." Loki replied, then softly kissed her neck.
Laney sighed at the feeling of his lips on her skin. "I'm glad you're excited," she murmured. She smirked as she moved her hand towards his thigh.
"Keep it up and I will be excited in more than one way." Loki said and grinned against her skin.
She tilted her head to nip at his bottom lip. "That's my plan," Laney whispered. "I want you, my Loki. All of you."
"Have you rested enough now?" Loki asked her, but kissed her softly before letting her reply.
Laney nodded, then scooted forward to be flush against him. "I have," she whispered.
Loki smiled and kissed her deeply while rolling her onto her back. "Then you can have all of me." He grinned and moved between her legs. She moaned softly into the kiss as her arms quickly wrapped around his neck while her thighs gently squeezed his waist. He positioned himself and gently pushed into her. He moved slowly at first but buried himself to the hilt in her warmth, causing both him and Laney to moan in pleasure.
"I'll never get enough of how you feel," she whispered into his ear, then nipped his earlobe.
"It is different with you, better with you." Loki moaned and picked up his pace, bracing his weight on his elbows to gain more leverage.
Laney righted her grip around his neck as she tilted her head back, exposing her neck. "Gods... don't stop Loki..."
"You feel perfect." Loki moaned and rocked his hips faster. He buried himself to the hilt each time he entered her, wanting to feel as much of her as possible.
"Oh... fuck..." Laney has dug her nails into Loki's skin, feeling every nerve ending light within her body. "Loki, baby... I'm almost..."
"Let go darling." Loki grunted. Feeling close as well, he took his own advice and gave in to the passion, shifting to his Jotun form as he did so.
The sudden coolness of Loki's change caused Laney to have an intense climax, unable to hold back as she screamed his name. She felt as Loki thrusted a few more times before he collapsed against her body, gasping for air. Laney looked over at him with tears in her eyes as she swept his damp hair from his face to place a kiss to his cheek. "I love you."
"I love you too." Loki replied when he caught his breath. He nuzzled his face into her neck, then moved to lay next to her so his weight wouldn't hurt the baby.
Laney felt her body shake with the release as she curled into his side. "That... that was... I don't have words."
"It was perfect darling." Loki said softly and held her close. "Sometimes, the best things can't be described because words would diminish the meaning." He said and rubbed her side to help her calm down.
She looked over at him with a sleepy smile. "You always know what to say."
"Are you ready to sleep darling?" He asked softly and pulled the blankets over them.
Laney nodded and placed a lazy kiss to his chest, her head now laying on his shoulder. "I wonder if Desi's night was just as eventful," she pondered.
"I'm sure she will tell you all about it tomorrow." Loki chuckled. "Goodnight darling." He said softly, tired as well.
