This place reeks of sewage, it's also dark, and damp, the unholy trinity of unpleasantness, especially to me, someone who was raised in a hygienic space, one whose house was always clean, so when I woke up in this wretched place, I was unsurprisingly freaked out by the standard of hygiene, but enough about that.
Apart from the unpleasantness of this place, how I got here is more important, the last thing I remembered before waking up here is that I was driving to my campus, then everything just blacked out and I wake up here.
Once I got my mind cleared and shook up my dizziness I began to realise where I really am, I am in a prison cell, a medieval one at that, in front of me, there are another cell, containing a strange gray skinned, pointy eared creature, he called up to me :
"Wake up, Redguard! Ah, there you are. How do you like your cell, huh? Roomy enough for you? I can't even imagine what it's like for you. No more sunshine, no more open seas. Just a box and a dirty beam of light for the rest of your life. Bet you're glad it won't last long, huh?" said the strange creature.
"What? What are you talking about? What's a redguard, and where am I?"
"Oh, didn't you know? No one ever leaves this prison alive! You're going to die in here, Redguard! Die!"
A second passed and I finally realised where and when I am, I am in the opening scene of one of my favourite game, The Elder Scrolls IV : Oblivion, this is a nightmare, I'm not a fighter, I can barely throw a punch or a kick, and now, the emperor and the blades are going to come here any second now, I'm doomed, either the mythic dawn is going to kill me, or the goblins and rats.
That bastard dunmer is beginning to laugh at my state, "Hey, you hear that? The guards are coming... for you! He he he he he he."
The Emperor himself, Uriel Septim VII is beginning to come down the stairs with his bodyguards, the blades with him, a faint voice said "My son, they're dead aren't they?" seems to be the emperor's voice.
"We don't know that Sire. The messenger only said that they were attacked."
"No. They're dead, I know it." The Emperor is right, all of his legitimate heirs are dead, only his bastard son, Martin Septim lives, though Martin himself didn't know that his father was the emperor himself.
At least, until the attack on kvatch when the champion of cyrodiil saved him, how am I going to save him is another matter entirely, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there, now, it's better to focus on the present, or, how I'm going to get out of here.
"My job right now is to get you to safety." said the agent, then she looked right at me, "What's this prisoner doing here?! This cell is supposed to be off-limits!" She barked at her fellow agents, or subordinates I assume.
"Usual misup with the watch, I..."
"Never mind, get that gate open!"
"Stand back prisoner, we won't hesitate to kill you if you get in our way!"
"You! prisoner! Stand aside. Over by the window, stay out of the way and you won't get hurt." I raised my hands up and walked backwards to the window, I don't want to get killed this early in the game by offending an agent of the blades.
"Stay put prisoner."
"Good, let's go, we're not out of this yet." The female agent said with a tired expression.
"You… I've seen you…" The Emperor said, even if I already know how all this is going to play out, it still surprises me a lot when the emperor talks directly to me.
"Let me see your face." he said as he get closer to me.
"You are the one from my dreams… Then the stars were right and this is the day, divines give me strength." he examined me, I put on a nervous expression as the blades agents are putting their hand on their nodachi and or katana.
"Uhh, I'm sorry, but what's going on here?" I said as I feign my knowledge of the event.
"Assassins attacked my sons, and I'm next." he said.
The mythic dawn cultists really are dedicated to their cause, mankar camoran must be truly charismatic to get people to kill the emperor and his heir.
"My blades are leading me out of the city along a secret escape route, and by chance, that escape route leads through your cell." What a coincidence huh, the nerevarine and the dragonborn are at the right time and the right place, and now, I am too.
The wrong man at the right place can make all the difference I suppose.
"Who are you?" I feign ignorance once again.
"I am your emperor," Technically not mine since I'm not a registered citizen of the empire of tamriel, "Uriel Septim VII, by the grace of the divines, I serve Tamriel as her ruler."
"You are a citizen of Tamriel," again, I'm technically not, "And you too, shall serve her in your own way."
"Why am I in this cell exactly?"
"Perhaps fate ordained you to be here so that we may meet." He answered.
"As for what you have done… it does not matter. That is not what you will be remembered for." Suck it dark elf, I'm instantly permitted while you're still stuck in this dingy cell.
"What should I do now? I don't even know where I am." I asked sincerely, I truly don't know what I should do.
"You will find your own path. Take care… there will be blood and death before the end." How foreboding, it just makes me more nervous.
"Please sire, we must keep moving." Said the female agent.
"Better not close this one. There's no way to open it from the other side." She explained.
They went inside the secret passage, and I followed right behind them, unarmed, perhaps I will scavenge some weapon inside.
"There's trouble ahead." said the Emperor, worried.
"Keep quiet, and stay out of the way." said one of the agents, Baurus I think.
I followed on, it feels like a trap, and I don't want to lose my life this soon in the game, so I hide behind one of the pillar, just as I suspected, the mythic dawn attacked, fortunately for me, they were taken care of by the agents, though the female one fell to the mace of the mythic dawn.
"Are you alright, sire? We're clear for now."
"Captain Renault?"
"She's dead. Sorry sire, but we have to keep moving." Ah, I see, so the female agent's name was Renault.
I am wondering now why I'm not freaked out by the death of a person, I'm not sure, but it seems that I've been desensitised a bit by all of this insane shit that keeps on happening.
The Emperor and his escorts go even further in, I followed them into the dungeon from farther away for the sake of my own safety.
