Chapter 6 I'm Here:
Marcy has been acting strange, Anne has noticed. Aside from the unexpected growth spurt and her new found athleticism, she has been late for classes and it seems like she was making up excuses for why she's late. She was going to have to ask her if there's something wrong which is why she is trying to catch up to Marcy.
"Marcy!" she shouted.
The black haired girl pulled her ear buds out as Anne ran up to her.
"What's up Anna-banana?" she asked.
Anne had finally caught her breath and stood up.
"Have you been feeling okay?" she asked.
Marcy raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah. Why'd you ask?" she asked.
"It's just…you've been acting weird lately and I'm worried about you," Anne said.
Marcy suddenly felt nervous.
'Did she figure it out?' she thought to herself.
She shook the thought away.
"Yeah, I'm fine just been studying a lot," she said.
Anne gained a look of doubt. Marcy grabbed her hand.
"Anne, you trust me right?" she asked.
Anne nodded.
"Then trust me when I say, everything's fine," she said.
Anne nodded. Marcy froze when Anne suddenly hugged her.
"Just know that I'm here if you need to talk to someone," she mumbled against Marvy's shoulder.
Marcy hugged her back.
"Okay," she said.
At Marcy's house:
Marcy sighed as she fell back on her bed. She hated lying to people especially Anne and Sasha but she can't risk anyone going after them and her family. A crash from downstairs made Marcy jump. She leaped out of bed and ran downstairs to the kitchen.
"Mark?" she asked.
Mark walked out of the kitchen, holding an ice pack to his head.
"What happened to you?" Marcy asked.
"I was making a sandwich, I dropped the mayo, slipped on it and hit my head on the edge of the counter," he grumbled as he sat down on the couch.
Marcy snickered and sat down beside him.
"And people say I'm clumsy. I'm pretty sure I got my clumsiness from living with you for 14 years," she said.
Mark let out a small laugh.
"I think we got it from our parents. We just don't know which one," he joked.
Marcy laughed with him. Their laughter died down as they sat in silence.
"Hey Mark?"
"Hmm?"
Mark turned to his sister.
"Did you ever have a secret but you worry if you told someone, you might put that person in danger?" she asked.
Mark raised an eyebrow.
"Why are you worried about something like that anyway?" he asked.
Marcy looked away from him. She wants to tell him but knows she can't. Mark sighed and wrapped an arm around his sister. Marcy leaned her head against his shoulder.
"I'm not going to force the secret out of you but I will be here when you need to let it out," he said softly. Marcy looked at her.
"Really?" she asked.
Mark smiled and ruffled her hair.
"What kind of older brother would I be if I wasn't there for my kid sister?" he asked.
Marcy smiled before yawning. Mark nudged her.
"We should head to bed. You look like you haven't slept in months," he said.
Marcy nodded and they walked upstairs
"Night a-hiann," she mumbled, walking into her room.
"Sleep tight, sió-mue," he said as walked into his room.
Marcy laid down on her bed and fell asleep.
