Chapter 14 Wu Siblings Forever Right?:
Flashback to 9 years ago:
A 5 year old Marcy was sitting in a corner with her head buried into her knees with her hood pulled up.
"Marcy?" a voice asked.
Marcy looked up to see a 7 year old Mark standing in front of her. She laid her head on her knees and looked away from him. The older boy sat down next to her. He noticed her fists clenching and reached over to rub the nape of her neck, knowing it would calm her down. Which it did when he saw Marcy's tiny fists unclench. The smaller girl leaned into her brother's touch, head resting on his shoulder. Mark moved his hand to her arm and rubbed small circles into her forearm.
"Anne told me you ran off for some reason. You wanna tell me why?" he asked.
Marcy huffed, blowing a bit of her hair out of her face.
"Maggie," she grumbled.
Mark frowned. He was aware of the bullying his kid sister received since she was smaller than most kids her age which puts her at a disadvantage when the older kids would corner her.
"What'd she do?" he asked.
Marcy pulled her hood down.
"She made fun of me because of my glasses, took my lunch money and broke my Nintendo Switch," she grumbled.
Her eyes filled with tears as she stared at the ground
"Why does she have to pick on me? I did nothing to her," Marcy said.
Mark nodded.
"That's just how she is. Maggie picks on people so she can feel good about herself and I'm pretty sure she's jealous," Mark said.
Marcy turned to him.
"Why would she be jealous of me?" she asked.
Mark smiled.
"Because you're smart, friendly, you make anyone around you smile and you're the best gamer I know," he said.
Mark took Marcy's glasses off and wiped her eyes with his thumb.
"Don't let anyone tell you otherwise and if they do, I'll be right here when you need some reassurance," Mark said.
He put her glasses back on her face. Marcy smiled at him.
"Promise?" she asked.
Mark smiled and lightly knocked their foreheads together.
"Promise," he said.
Now:
Marcy grunted as she landed on top of a building breathing heavily. She pulled her mask up so she could breathe. She shivered as a cool breeze blew and she pulled her hood over her head.
'These crimes are getting worse by the hour and the weather is getting colder' she thought to herself.
Her earpiece started beeping and Marcy pressed a finger to her ear.
"What's the sitch, girls?" Marcy asked.
She laughed to herself as Sasha and Terri groaned.
"First off, don't EVER say that again. Second, some cameras spotted Red going into a factory five blocks away from where you are, " Terri said.
Marcy nodded.
"Got it," she said.
She moved to pull her mask down when Sasha's voice stopped her.
"And be careful. From what I hear, Red's not merciful," Sasha said.
'I thought stabbing a person in the stomach made it obvious' Marcy said in her head.
"I'll be fine Sash but stay on the line in case I need a quick escape," she said.
She pulled her mask down and jumped off the building and swung towards the warehouse. She landed on the roof. Marcy turned her earpiece on.
"Is this the place Terri?" she asked.
"Yeah," Terri said.
Marcy nodded as she opened the window and climbed inside. Marcy landed on the ground and snuck through the warehouse. She then heard a noise. Marcy poked her head from around the corner and saw Red and a few armored goons standing loading some crates into a van. One of the goons dropped a crate. Red glared at him.
"Be careful with those pipe bombs or you'll blow us up!" he hissed.
'Pipe Bombs? What could that be for?' Marcy thought to herself.
She moved so she could listen better but ended up knocking a tool box down. Marcy flinched when the box fell to the ground. One of the goons turned towards it.
"Boss, someone's here," he said.
Red's eyes narrowed under his helmet.
"Split up and search the place. If you find someone, don't hesitate, we don't need anyone getting involved in this," he said.
The goons split up.
"Marcy, get out of there," Terri said.
Marcy nodded and turned a corner. She ran through the factory but came to a skidding stop when she saw Red. Marcy turned invisible and hid between some crates. Red looked around the room. He pressed a button on his helmet and the visor moved up. Marcy felt her heart drop into her stomach when she saw familiar blonde hair and green eyes.
'It can't be' Marcy thought to herself.
Mark looked around the room one last time before walking away. Marcy turned visible.
"Marcy? Marcy, what's wrong?" Sasha asked.
Marcy turned her earpiece on.
"Mark's the Red Assassin. He's working for Andrias," Marcy said.
Terri and Sasha looked at each other with wide eyes.
"Marcy, you have to get out of there now," Terri said.
Marcy nodded and was about to run when she felt her spider senses going off. She turned and saw Mark and the other goons.
'Run'
Marcy turned and shot a web. She swung herself onto the top floor and climbed through the window. Marcy heard the sound of a vehicle pulling up and looked down to see Andrias' limo. Her senses went off again and Marcy turned to see Mark. He unsheathed his blades and ran at her. Marcy moved to dodge his attacks as he swung at her. Marcy swung a kick at him. Mark grabbed her foot and threw her to the ground. The black haired girl cried out as her back hit the cement. She grunted as Mark pinned her to the ground by the scruff of her collar as he pulled his blade out. Marcy stared at him with wide eyes as her heart was beating out of her chest.
"Time to say goodnight little spider," he said.
Marcy pulled her mask up. Mark stopped what he was doing.
"Marcy?" he asked.
He lifted his visor to look at his little sister. His little sister. He was going to kill his kid sister.
"No,no, no," he mumbled.
"What are you waiting for? Kill her," Andrias said.
Mark looked down at Marcy. She looked at her brother with a pleading look. The older boy gave Marcy a smile and pulled her mask down. Marcy blinked as Mark got up and sheathed his sword. He held his hand out to her. Marcy was about to reach for it when she noticed something that made her heart stop.
"Mark watch-!"
*BANG!*
Terri's hands flew to her mouth when she heard a gunshot go off and Sasha stood there with wide eyes. Mark's pupils dilated as his eyes traveled downwards. A bullet wound sat in the left side of his chest. He looked at his sister.
"Marce," he whispered.
He fell to the ground.
"Mark!" Marcy cried.
She ran to her brother's side as goons piled onto the roof, surrounding the two siblings. Marcy lifted Mark onto her back. She looked at Andrias who had an expressionless look on his face. She turned and shot a web. Marcy swung into town. She jumped over a police car. Yunan blinked and followed them. Marcy landed in an alleyway. Mark groaned as Marcy gently laid him down on the ground. Marcy lifted her mask. Blood was seeping through Mark's clothes. She ran her hands through her hair as tears filled her eyes.
'How did it end like this?' she thought to herself.
"Marce," Mark mumbled.
Marcy looked at her brother. Mark lifted his hand. She grabbed it and pressed her forehead against his knuckles. Marcy started crying as she held her brother's hand.
"Marcy, remember what I told you when you were 10?" Mark asked.
Marcy blinked her tears back.
"You said that no matter what happens, that I have to keep going," she whispered.
Mark nodded.
"That's what I need you to do right now. Andrias is planning something big and I need you to stay focused," Mark said.
Marcy shook her head.
"B-but what about you?" she asked.
Mark coughed as blood splattered out of his mouth.
"It's too late for me right now," her brother whispered.
Marcy closed her eyes as tears ran down her face. Mark reached up and placed a hand on her cheek. Sirens could be heard in the distance. He gave his sister a smile
"You're the best of all of us, Marcy. You're on your way…just keep going…keep going," Mark said weakly.
His eyes closed as he went limp, his hand falling on the ground. A police car pulled up behind Marcy. Yunan stepped out of the car and aimed her gun at Marcy.
"Police, put your hands where I can see them," she said.
Marcy slowly put her hands up.
'I'm sorry Ma' she thought to herself.
Marcy closed her eyes and turned invisible. Yunnan ran towards where Marcy stood.
"Hey! Hey!" she shouted.
Yunan looked around the alley but saw no one. She turned and dropped her gun.
"Markus?" she asked.
She bent down beside him. Yunan placed two fingers against his neck and felt no pulse. Tears filled her eyes as she hugged her son close to her chest. Marcy stood on top of a building as she watched the scene. She shot a web and headed home. Marcy climbed into her room. Her breathing sped up as her anger bubbled up and her eyes flickered from brown to green.
"Even if something bad happens to me, you know I won't be gone forever,"
"Promise?"
"Yeah, Wu siblings stick together"
Marcy gritted her teeth and clenched her fists.
"DAMN IT!" she shouted.
She turned to punch a wall. Marcy kept doing that, not caring that her knuckles were bleeding.
"Marcy!" a voice shouted.
Sasha grabbed Marcy by her arms. Marcy fought against her grip but Sasha held onto her tightly. She turned the younger girl around and held her shoulders.
"Marcy, that's enough," she said.
Marcy breathed heavily as tears streamed down her face. Sasha pulled her into a hug. Marcy hugged her back and cried into Sasha's shoulder.
"I-I should've done something. I should've talked to him. I couldn't help him, Sash. I couldn't help him," Marcy sobbed.
Sasha held the younger girl tight as tears filled her own eyes. She may have lost one of her best friends but Marcy lost her older brother. Sasha placed a hand on Marcy's head and gently stroked her hair.
"It's going to be okay Marce," she said softly.
She closed her eyes as she buried her face into Marcy's hair.
"It's going to be okay,"
