"Oh for fuck's sake —" James stumbles in, wrapped around Regulus, and is mortified to discover Sirius sprawled out across their sofa. "I thought you had a date!"

Sirius sits up, glaring at the pair of them. James quickly peels himself off of Regulus, all of them looking extremely disgruntled. "I did. Never showed up. Is this what you guys do when I'm not home? I knew that date was a diversion!"

"In all fairness," Regulus says, "he was actually supposed to show up. That's what people are supposed to do on a blind date."

"No shit, Sherlock." Sirius snorts. "If they had showed up, would I have been here? Alone?"

"You wouldn't have," says James blithely. "Since you're still hung up on Remus."

In an instant, Sirius' face goes bright red. "I'm not hung up on Remus!" he protests. "Not anymore."

"Oh, c'mon," Regulus says. "We've all seen the way you look at him. You look soppy and utterly disgusting whenever he's in the room and I have no idea how he's not realized that yet."

"You are — I am not —"

Sirius' phone buzzes and lights up with a call and he starts lunging for it — only to recall the subject of conversation just five seconds before. James sniggers.

"Shut up," Sirius hisses before calmly picking up the phone. "Hey, Rem, what's up?" A pause. "Yeah, they are." He glares at James and Regulus. "Yeah, I can come over." Another pause. "Okay, I'll bring that. I'll be over in ten." He ends the call.

"Got a hot date with Remus?" James says, smirking, and Sirius throws a cushion at his face.

"Shut up, he just needs help with something."

Okay, maybe he'd been lying. Maybe he hadn't gone on the date. Maybe he'd just spent the time at Remus', curled up around him on the sofa, because he desperately didn't want to go on that date.

(He felt guilty for standing up his date, but he couldn't go. He couldn't compel himself to. Not when his heart belongs to Remus.)

Maybe he just loves the feeling of being around Remus. Of the way Remus makes him feel. But he's not ready to tell his friends yet because they're just testing the waters. But he knows for certain that he loves Remus.

"Back so soon?" Remus asks, grinning when he opens the door. "Did you miss me?"

Sirius silences him with a kiss. "You know what the answer is," he murmurs and is rewarded by a pink flush stealing across Remus' face. He crosses the threshold, a broad grin on his face as Remus remains silent.

"I brought the movie," Sirius says. "And the only not stale bag of chips." He puts it on top of the pile the snacks Remus already has on the table.

"Perfect." Remus finally regains his voice. "Just go ahead and put the disk in." Sirius complies and the TV screen lights up.

As Sirius sprawls out on the couch and lays his head on Remus' lap, he can't help but think that he wouldn't mind doing this for the rest of his life. His friends would eventually find out, but that wouldn't matter — he knows he's doing this for keeps.

Because Remus makes him alive.
