A/N: Well, here I am, starting a drabble collection. The name is a working title for now, I will change it at some point. These will all be Ichihime, maybe sometimes with side pairings. They will be in various phases of their lives, some set in the Bleach universe, some AU.
And if any of you are thinking: What? Two posts in one day? Then all I can say it, yeah sorry for the spam, but when BadButt94 prompted me to write about a Blind Date, inspiration just hit me like a frying pan. Right in the face. I had to write it. And now it's done, so I figure, why delay posting it?
So, there you go, my take on the prompt "Blind date". This is set in the Bleach universe, but they are a little older.
Thank you Badbutt94 for the great prompt.

Orihime stepped into the small coffee kitchen, only to be welcomed by wolf whistles.
"Dayum, Orihime-chan, you look smoking as always!" She was greeted by her best office friend, Ayumi. The other occupants of the kitchen, two more of the colleagues she'd befriended, looked her up and down before whole-heartedly agreeing. "You do, Orihime-san. That skirt is gorgeous!"
"Thank you!" A gentle smile grazed the young woman's features, making her look even more beautiful. It was unfair really, thought Ayumi. How one woman could be so utterly stunning and at the same time be so sweet and kind that you couldn't even resent her for it.
"So, who is the lucky guy that gets to unpack you after work?" Kiyora asked with a wiggle of her eyebrows. Orihime blushed lightly.
"Uhm, no one, I will just have to make do," she laughed.
"Come on, you can't be serious?"
"In all the time that I've known her, she's never even had a date. Be honest, Orihime-chan, are you into women?" Ayumi asked flatly. The red-headed beauty smiled at this.
"Nope, I like men as much as all of you." She winked at Hiroshi, who was openly in a relationship with another man and he winked back at her.
"So then, is there any guy you like? There must be someone!"
"Currently, no… I can't say that there is."
"So there used to be someone?" Orihime smiled at that.
"Yes, back in high school. He was… perfect in my eyes. And we went through a lot together. But at some point after high school, we lost touch… We were never even an item. Although it looked like it might happen at one point. And then… Life kind of got in the way." Her smile turned wistful.
Hiroshi frowned. "I see what's going on here. You have this guy on a pedestal, so no one can live up to him. What you need, my love, is a palate cleanser." A broad grin appeared on the faces of her three colleagues and Orihime couldn't help but laugh at them.
"Well, what about those guys in advertising? Some of them are really cute!" Affirmative murmurs sounded through the kitchen. Orihime giggled.
"I actually think I've talked to most of them at the last Christmas party. I'm sorry to burst your bubble, guys, but they're not for me."
Ayumi pouted. Suddenly, her face warped into an expression of overwhelming enthusiasm.
"Orihime-chan! I know the perfect guy for you! I can't believe I never thought of that before, I'm so sorry! And he's single, too. He's such a catch, if I wasn't with Kenji, I would totally have tried to make a move. Honestly, please let me set up a blind date for you! Please, you're a perfect match. He's even in the same league as you when it comes to looks and you know that is saying something."
She was obviously very excited, having taken Orihime's hands at some point during her speech and squeezing them happily now.
"Oh lala, same as Orihime in the looks department, that sounds yummy," smirked Hiroshi while Kiyora nodded zealously.
Orihime rolled her eyes at them in a playful way. Her colleagues could be such a handful.
She sighed in exasperation. "Fine. But I'm doing it for you, Ayumi-chan. And I need you to tell me at least a few things about him, so I know what I'm getting myself into."
Cheers broke out in the little office kitchen.
"Right. Uhm… I don't want to tell you too much, but I can say a few things. He's a writer and the stuff he writes is really good, none of that flat unthinking crap. He's an author at Kenji's publishing company and the two of them have become friends, that's how I know him. But he does not look like an intellectual," she grinned. "He looks like a model and a bit of a delinquent. In a hot way. And get this. You seem like the type to have a hero complex, Hime-chan." Orihime made an indignant expression, but the other two cut in with mumbled agreement.
"So this guy, he's crazy courageous. Last year he ran into a burning house and rescued like three people. It was in the paper. I'm telling you, he's amazing."

Orihime sighed for the fifth time that evening, as she stepped into the restaurant. She couldn't remember why she had agreed to this blind date. She could think of so many things she'd rather do. She had a book she still wanted to finish, and she had recently discovered a new TV-show that was just begging to be binge-watched. Plus, she had her favorite ice-cream in the freezer. But maybe if she got this over with quickly, she could still watch a few episodes after she got home. She looked down. She knew she looked good. The dark blue satin dress hugged her curves nicely and complimented her eyes. Ayumi had made her promise to go all out with her outfit.
She let her eyes wander as she walked through the restaurant. To her dismay, Ayumi had come up with the tacky idea of him holding a red rose for recognition purposes, but she saw no one that matched the description. She sighed again. Then, her eyes fell on a dark red rose, lying at an empty table in the back. A dark jacket was hung over one chair, but the owner was obviously missing. Curiosity stirred in Orihime as she walked towards the table. She had to admit that she was a little intrigued by the situation now.
She took a seat opposite of the occupied chair and reached for the rose to bury her nose in it. It smelled amazing. She jerked slightly when a deep, confident voice suddenly sounded behind her.
"So, I assume you are the woman I have heard so much about. The most amazing woman I would ever lay my eyes on." A very familiar voice. Orihime froze as the owner of the voice placed himself across from her. He chuckled in a way that made Orihime's knees go weak.
"Well, I can't say that they're wrong." He smiled a cheeky smile and Orihime couldn't help but stare at him. He was handsome alright, likely the most handsome man she'd ever seen.
"Kurosaki-kun," she breathed happily.
"It's good to see you, Inoue."
The ice cream would have to wait.

A/N: Hahaa, I am so happy with how this turned out. For the rest of the date, I'm leaving it up to your imagination, but I just looove this premise.
Give me more prompts, peeps, preferably one-word-prompts. I'm eager for more inspiration. :D
Leave me a review if you liked it. 😊
Edit: Ok, rereading this I think I want to do a prequel or sequel drabble for this after all, so expect that to appear in this drabble corner at some point.
