(It is a lovely day in a field, and four kittens - one is pink, one is green, one is blue, and one is black, but all resemble Tuxedo cats - are gathered together and having a conversation.)
Pink kitten: Hey, is there something wrong with my face?
Blue kitten: No, it looks good.
Pink kitten: How about my paws?
Green kitten: They look okay, too.
Pink kitten: (turns behind itself) My back?! (starts licking its back)
Black kitten: Gee, Pinky, why are you always fussing about how you look?
Pink kitten: (stops licking itself) Sorry, I really don't like getting dirty.
Black kitten: Doesn't surprise me. A lot of cats don't.
Blue kitten: So what do you think we should do today?
Green kitten: I was thinking we could take a nap.
Black kitten: We did that hours ago! How are we gonna do that when the sky's all bright and stuff?
Green kitten: (sulks a bit) Good point.
Blue kitten: Or we could climb a tree.
Pink kitten: But then we'd get stuck and have to wait for someone to get us down!
Black kitten: Why don't we scratch a tree instead?
Green kitten: I'm not so much of a scratch cat myself.
Pink kitten; But now that you mention it, (lifts up its paw) my claws have been getting a bit too long lately. (The blue kitten looks up at the sky, and its eyes widen.)
Blue kitten: Hey, is it just me, or does that cloud look like a fish? (The pink, green and black kittens look up at the cloud the blue kitten is talking about.)
Pink kitten: It does, doesn't it?
Green kitten: Only problem is we can't eat it.
Black kitten: (determined) Not from here!
(It crouches down, then takes a leap toward the cloud. It only makes it about a foot into the air, however, before falling and landing on the grass. The pink, green and blue kittens giggle, with the pink one putting its paw over its mouth. The black kitten shakes its head cutely, then walks back to the other kittens.)
Black kitten: Laugh at me, will you?
Green kitten: It's not like we could help it...
Blue kitten: I know I couldn't!
Black kitten: Oh, I could tell you couldn't. (Unbeknownst to the kittens, Mario and Luigi are approaching the spot where they are.) If I saw any of you try doing what I tried to do, I'd probably laugh at you, too!
Pink kitten: Yes, but I wouldn't like that much.
Black kitten: Exactly! I don't like being laughed at, either.
Green kitten: Look, we're sorry, okay? Let's just forget about it.
Blue kitten: Yeah, let's do something else, something that doesn't involve us laughing at you.
Black kitten: Okay, like what?
Pink kitten: I suppose we could chase butterflies. (Mario and Luigi arrive at the spot where the kittens are, stopping as they watch them talk.) They say where there's pretty flowers, there's pretty butterflies.
Blue kitten: Hey, that's a great idea!
Green kitten: I wonder if they think we're pretty...
Mario: (waves politely at the kittens) Hello, kitties!
(The kittens' eyes all widen as they stop in their tracks. They slowly turn their heads to look at the plumbers. Luigi waves politely to them as well.)
Luigi: Hi!
(The kittens all gasp and wince as they run away, with each kitten going in a different direction. Mario and Luigi stand where they are, eyes wide with confusion. Then Luigi sulks in light sadness.)
Luigi: Aw, they ran away. (Mario places his hand on his brother's shoulder to comfort him.)
Mario: Don't worry, bro. We'll get another chance to pet them.
Luigi: You think so?
Mario: (nods) Oh, yeah. (thinking) But next time, we'll just bring Cat Suits. They always come running to me when they see me wearing one...
