Chapter 4: Bjorn

***Hiccup pov***

Hiccup was now showing the village to the stranger after he had revealed he had memory loss and could not remember his own name, Gobber had commented that since he had fought them with a strength of a bear, they should Call him Bjorn, and since the stranger didn't seem to mind it, that is what he was now called, at least until his memory returns.

He had just finished showing Bjorn the pier, and they were now making their way to the arena since Bjorn wasn't shown any of the dragons just yet.

"sooo… Bjorn…" Hiccup said, gaining the attention of the large man who now thankfully had more fitting attires thanks to his father who gave him some of his own.

"Yes hiccup?" the large man asked.

"I was wondering, what is your last memory?"

The man's brows furrowed as he thought and then said, "it is quite a blur, but I do remember being somewhere cold, but, I didn't feel the cold, I was fighting, but I cannot remember who or why I was fighting…" he then clutched his forehead in frustration.

Then Hiccup quickly said, "Hey man it's ok, you'll get there someday, don't push yourself too hard."

Bjorn gave Hiccup a sad smile, Hiccup guessed the man wasn't too old from him, In fact, if he had to venture a guess, he would say he was just younger than his father by a mere 10 winters.

But when he looked at those eyes, for a moment, they had felt much much older than that, Hiccup had a feeling that this man had seen many things in his lifetime, too many if he had to guess, even if he could not recall them at this moment.

Then they had reached the arena, and then they entered. as soon as they did, he saw Bjorn stops in his place looking at the Vikings and dragons gathered and muttered under his breath, "By Odin's beard…" as he started to approach them with great care.

Everyone minus Snotlout was present, due to him still being on bed rest. Hiccup had said to the Vikings gathered, "guys, this is Bjorn, I am sure some of you may remember him, and Bjorn," Hiccup said turning towards the giant of a man, "these are the dragon riders."

He bowed his head respectfully, and then said, "I am told I have you to thank for finding me, I thank you." Then something peculiar happened, toothless had approached the man and proceeded to lower his head in submission, and after him, all the other dragons did as well.

Hiccup and the rest of the riders were in total and utter shock, and it seemed that Bjorn was shocked and confused as well. He had hesitantly put his hand above Toothless head and proceeded to pet him, much to the dragon's pleasure.

After that experience, Hiccup had taken him to the forge, where he wanted to check with Gobber if he had something for the stranger to do, and as it turns out, the man was surprisingly good with a hammer and forges in general.

By the end of that day, they had returned to Hiccup's home, since Gothi didn't have much room in her cabin, and he was not in medical danger, so it was agreed that for now, he would stay with the chief and his son.

As soon as they entered, Hiccup could see that the man was making his way to the table, and checking out the carvings and the crafts on the wooden furniture.

"It's not much, but it's what we have." Hiccup said, now being self-aware that it might not be as comfortable to the man as it is to him.

Bjorn then spoke with his deep voice, "nay, 'tis is more than enough Hiccup, you and your father have my eternal gratitude." Hiccup nodded his head, taken aback by the emotion displayed, and then he said, "well then, I will show you to my room." As they went up the stairs.

That night, Hiccup had slept with toothless, while Bjorn had taken his bed, it was ok, but he was woken up in the middle of the night.

A thunderstorm was raging, and thunder was heard a loud, he was about to go barricade their cabin when he heard a sound coming from his bed.

It was Bjorn, he was tossing in his sleep, all the while muttering incoherently, when Hiccup had neared him he heard several words that had him both shocked and confused, "no… Loki… brother… Laufy…"

Of course, he immediately recognized those names, he had heard those names in the stories he was told as a child, but what does this man have to do with the God of mischief? Who was he?

Just then lightning struck next to them, accompanied by large thunder, which had caused Bjorn to jump awake from his sleep.

Remembering what had happened last time, Hiccup was sure to keep away from the man, lest his berserker rage would be brought upon him.

It was a minute before he calmed down, and then he looked at hiccup, and his features softened, and he said, "I do apologize master Hiccup, did I do something wrong?"

"N-no, it's just seemed that you had a bad dream,"

"Oh? I did? I cannot seem to remember…"

"well, it seemed to be pretty bad, you muttered a few things while it happened."

Again, "I did? Oh I'm sorry… did I wake you?"

"N-no, no, it was the thunder sto-" but as hiccup looked outside of his window, his words died in his mouth, for as he looked he saw the storm clouds receding, barely a trace of it left behind.

He then looked at the man Infront of him and then said, "you know what? I-It was nothing I guess, must have been my imagination, well then, good night Bjorn."

"Good night Hiccup," the man said as he was getting himself back to bed.

Hiccup had gone to toothless, and as he was getting himself under his wing he wondered out loud, "did I imagine that thunderstorm?" but Toothless had made a sound that hiccup had interpointed as 'no'.

Then he wondered out loud, "just who is this guy?"

***third-person pov-outcasts island***

It was a clod night as Alvin was looking at his Island from his vantage point, he was thinking about ways to nab him Stoick's little Hiccup, that boy would certainly be helpful to him with his plans, then he noticed something, it suddenly began to be colder and colder, and in a second, a blizzard was blasting his island, now Alvin was a man who had been through cold winters, the cold couldn't bother him, but this was something else, this cold was unlike anything he'd ever experienced, he actually felt it to his bones.

He immediately called to his men, they all were huddling around fires, and as they were resorting to were their warmest of pelts, he said to them, "something about this storm is different lads, I don't know what it is… but I can tell it is different, I need three men to come with me to try and gather whatever resources we have, we are going to need everything we've got if we're going to outlast this storm."

Three men, nearly the size of him stepped forward, he clasped their shoulders, and then said, "alright, if we are not back, Savage is in command." They all nodded their heads as they were making their way to gather some resources.

it was when they had managed to gather the last of their supplies when Alvin had heard it, a sound of cracking ice, followed by sounds of massive footsteps that were nearing them.

Soon, a massive silhouette in the shape of a man appeared through the blizzard, and it seemed to be making its way towards them.

When the figure came close, Alvin suddenly understood that it wasn't a man at all, for his skin was icy blue, his beard was ice, and a massive ice crown rested upon the figure's head.

Alvin then had heard the voice of his grandmother, when she told him stories when he was a child, but he always thought them stories meant to scare rowdy children to behave, not real things to be feared.

But he could not deny what he was seeing with his own eyes, a frost giant, in his island.

He and his men were frozen in fear of earning the wrath of the giant, so they wisely chose to stay still and quiet, but the Giant seemed to pay them no heed, choosing instead to go on his way, all the while Alvin heard him muttering, "the thunderer is not here, but I sense his power still, I will find him, and my brethren." And he continued walking.

As soon as he walked away far enough, Alvin had let out a breath he did not know he was holding, he soon checked on his men and saw that they were in a similar state as he, so he quickly snapped them back to reality, and they made their way back to the caves.

When they had returned, Savage had asked them, "well? What is going out there? Is it a wilder beast?"

Alvin shook his head and said, "no, nor was it any other dragon, or man, I had heard only tales of them as a young lad, but never thought much of them more than mere old wives tales but… what we saw out there… I would not wish on my worst of enemies."

The rest of the men were confused and shocked at seeing their leader like that, so Savage had asked, "what did you see out there?"

Alvin did not answer, instead one of his men that had gone out with him said, "It was a giant, with blue frozen skin, and a beard of ice."

The rest of the men who heard that were now shocked, and Savage asked, "a frost giant? Are you sure Alvin?"

"aye, it was all four of us saw it, it went right passed us, thank the gods it didn't pay us any mind, but all the while it muttered something to himself, that he was looking for the Thunderer."

All of the men were silent in shock, for all of them knew who that was, but none of them knew what they could do about it, so instead, they could just offer a prayer to the Gods, and hope they will see fit to grant them this one wish, to stay alive long enough for this storm that was brewing to blow over.

***Hiccup pov***

Hiccup had woken up in the morning, as he exited from under his dragon's wing, he saw that his guest was missing, he thought about last night's events as he put on his peg leg and went down the stairs.

As he was there, he heard voices, and then a voice of great strain, he soon exited his house and saw several of the men lifting some logs that most likely fell off during the storm, all of them worked in pairs, sometimes it took four strong men to lift a log.

But then Hiccup saw something that was shocking to him, one log that several of the men were struggling to lift, was now resting on one of Bjorn's massive shoulders, he helped them carry it to where it would be repaired and returned to its original place.

All the while did that, he was shirtless, and hiccup saw his muscles fibers, under a hairy strong body.

The more and more he hung around the man, the more he had questions, but then, several possible answers were popping in his head, but they were so ridiculous he had discarded them as ridiculous.

After they had finished taking care of that, they all made their way to the great hall, where a meal was served.

Again, Hiccup witnessed the impossible when Bjorn had kept putting away massive amounts of food, he figured he was hungry after the morning but it was ridiculous just how much he ate.

After that his father the chief had stood up from his seat, and cleared his throat, "well… you all know that the hammer of Thor had landed here, but, Mildew had complained that the pilgrimage the people of berk are doing constantly is disturbing his peace, so, from now on, the people of berk are to only allowed to visit and try to lift it twice a day, morning and noon, not at night time, that is a chiefly order." He said with a tone that brokered no arguments.

Hiccup had noticed that Bjorn was brought out of his eating frenzy as soon as his father mentioned Thor's hammer after that Bjorn had gone to Hiccup and asked, "did your father say that Thor's hammer was here?"

"Y-yeah, he did… why d you ask?"

Bjorn held his head and said, "I-I think I am somehow connected to it, my memories… something came up when I heard it being mentioned."

Hiccup now was stunned, he looked at the man with eyes wide, all the while thinking to himself, ~no… it can't be him… can it?~ but then he said to the man, "if you want, we can go see it right away…"

The man nodded his head and said, "I would very much appreciate that." As they started to make their way out of the great hall
