Ellie, Awesome, Sarah, Morgan, and Alex stood outside the hospital room. They were watching Chuck's expressions through the door as he sat on the edge of Casey's bed. The doctor was taking off the bandages. Morgan was trying to reassure Alex. No one had asked Morgan or Sarah what had happened.

"Honey, your dad will get through this, it's Casey for god sake."

"You both promised me, you and Chuck promised you both had his back. He made the same promise to Ellie and I, to make sure you and Chuck were okay!" Alex cried.

Morgan hugged her.

"I'm sorry, okay? He will be okay." He whispered in her hair.

"What happened on that mission Sarah?" Ellie asked, as she watched Alex and Morgan.

"I don't know, we got separated. Chuck found me first then we found Casey lying unconscious in acid. We got him out of there, and called 911."

Inside the room, the doctor had taken all the bandages off. Casey's face was badly burnt from the acid.

"Colonel, open your eyes. Can you see anything?"

Casey did, immediately Chuck knew that he couldn't see, he looked straight at him and said,

"No, is Chuck here?"

Chuck picked up his hand, kissing the black tungsten wedding band that laid on his left ring finger.

"Right here, Alex, Morgan and the others are outside." Chuck whispered, as he stroked the black wedding band he had only placed on Casey's finger three months ago.

"How long until I can see?"

"Might be weeks, months, maybe never. We won't really know." The doctor said, shining a light in Casey's face with no reaction from him.

"So he might be blind for the rest of his life?" Chuck asked, his voice shaking with unshed tears.

"Yes, I'm sorry I wish I had better news." The doctor said, and left.

"It's okay Chuck." Casey whispered.

"No! It's not okay, it's not fair!" Chuck laid his head on Casey's shoulder, crying.

"Nothing ever is." Casey whispered, wrapping an arm around Chuck planting a kiss on his forehead.

"Now I don't want to hear your girly feelings, Bartowski. I guess we need to tell the others?"

Chuck's laugh was choked, he wiped his eyes.

"You want me to get Alex first?" Chuck stood, but Casey kept a hold of his hand.

"Uh… yeah." Casey let go.

Chuck kissed him, and went out of the room. Everyone had sat down and were whispering quietly, so they didn't hear Chuck walk up to them.

"Alex, your dad wants you."

Alex nodded, Morgan got up and hugged her. She walked up to Chuck, looking in the room.

"You ready?" Chuck whispered.

"I'm more scared than when he kidnapped me and told me he was my dad."

Chuck chuckled, and opened the door for her. Casey turned his head toward the door. Alex walked up to his bed grabbing his hand and hugged him.

"Hey dad."

"Hi." Casey whispered. He managed to kiss her cheek on instinct.

Chuck smiled at the interaction between the two, quietly walking out and closing the door. He walked up to the others.

"What kind of acid was it?"

"Sulfuric acid, probably from a car battery."

Chuck nodded.

After a few minutes Alex came out wiping her eyes, Chuck hugged her and she broke down once again. Chuck rubbed her back, until Morgan took her from him.

"How about everyone go home, get some rest. I'll call when there's an update or if we get to go home."

Everyone left except for Sarah.

"Guess nothing I say or do will make you change your mind?"

"Unless you need something from your apartment or food."

"Fresh clothes for both of us and decent food would be nice." Chuck said, knowing Sarah needed something to do besides sit around.

"Got it, be back in an hour." Sarah left.

Chuck walked back into Casey's room. Casey had fallen asleep or that's what Chuck had thought before Casey spoke.

"Chuck?"

"Yes John, it's me. Go to sleep, it's late."

Casey held out his hand.

"Not without you."

Chuck laid down beside him in the cramped bed, with his head on Casey's chest, like they always sleep.

"Night Bartowski."

"Night John."
