When I get back to the common room I see Harry being congratulated by the whole house.
Although he looks extremely comfortable Dean Thomas ties a Gryffindor banner tightly around him.
I roll my eyes and head up the staircase to the girls dorm.
I needed to wait for Harry to get alone so I could ask him if I could borrow his invisibility cloak-to amazingly sneak out at midnight.
I change into a simple nightgown, blue in color and I wash my face in the bathroom off to the side of the room.
Tossing my mess of hair into a bun and I sit on my bed drawing the crimson curtains closed so the other girls don't bother me.
I curl into a ball grabbing my wand and potions notebook.
"Lumos," I whisper, the tip of my wand lighting up.
I page through the notebook reading over my notes while observing the drawings Abby had done for me.
I hear outside my curtain, the girls giggling about the boys they had danced with at the celebration party.
Once I hear the metal rings sliding against the metal of their beds, I quietly open my curtain and leave my dorm room walking down the stairs of the red and gold decorated hall.
The boys dorm is quiet as I step into the fourth year room.
I see their curtains drawn which usually would make it hard for me to know which one was Harry's.
Luckily I know the difference between him and Ron-he doesn't have a favorite Quidditch team and Ron, he likes the Chudley Cannons.
The picture lining his wall was another indication, pictures of Ron, him and I as well as his parents waved down to me.
I shake Harry gently awake.
"Hermione?" He whispers, fumbling for his glasses.
"What're you doing here?" He sighs groggily.
"I need to borrow the invisibility cloak," I whisper back.
"Why what for?" He groans, swinging his legs off the side of his bed.
"I need to go to the library," I say.
Standing up he walks slowly yawning to his trunk situated at the end of his bed.
He dug around inside the trunk until he found what he was looking for.
Pulling out the invisibility cloak he hands it to me.
Without another word he climbed back into bed shutting his curtain.
I sigh, throwing the cloak over me leaving the boys dormitory.
The common room is empty, littered with trash that the poor house elves are going to have to clean up.
The only sound coming from the fire crackling softly in the heats.
I swing open the fat lady's portrait and step out of the Gryffindor tower.
She was fast asleep in her painting, I knew that I was going to have to wake her up when I came back.
I walk hidden under the invisibility cloak through the empty halls, I can only hope that Professor Moody doesn't have patrolling duty tonight.
It takes me about ten minutes to get to the other side of the castle where the Astronomy tower was located.
The Ravenclaw prefects were prowling the halls, talking while completely oblivious that I was there.
I watch them round a corner before heading up the stairs leading into the Astronomy tower.
I see her standing there.
Abby stands by three ledges gazing out into the darkness, the starlight lighting up her skin.
She's dressed in green silk pajamas, her hair loose hanging down her back.
I slip off the invisibility cloak placing it on the bench beside the door.
"Abby?" I say quietly.
She turns slowly, seeing me she smiles.
"Hey Hermione," she says sweetly.
I beckoned her to the bench beside the planetarium where the telescope was covered beside the railing.
She takes a seat beside me on the bench moving her hair to the side.
"I'm guessing that you want to know about my name being in the Goblet, I didn't put my name in there Hermione," she starts.
"I didn't ask you to come up here because I wanted to know about that-I know you wouldn't put your name in the cup," I assure her.
"Then why did you ask me to come up here? I don't really want to study right now."
"No, not that either," I say nervously.
She watches me expectantly.
"God-I wish I would have brought veritaserum..."
"Why?" She asks, confused.
"Because...it's hard to admit something when you're scared," I say shrugging.
"Oh-then why don't I admit something to you and then you can admit whatever you needed?" She suggests kindly.
I nod thankful.
I was curious what she had to admit.
"I-I had a dream about you.." she says simply.
It's my turn to look confused.
"I'm not going into it but I felt I needed to get that off my chest," she gazed at me, her eyes bright. "Now. Your turn."
"Well...I urm...I am in..."
"In what?" She asks.
"I'm in love with someone," I say.
"Oh-Who?" She raises an eyebrow.
"...I love...you."
My face burns about a hundred degrees hotter than it was earlier.
I know that by her silence I must have ruined our friendship.
"I knew that wasn't cool but I heard your name at the feast and I couldn't hold it in anymore, I felt it weighing on me and I just couldn't-I'm sorry just forget about it."
"Hermione...Hermione stop...you're rambling," Abby says quietly.
I turn my face back to her.
Her head was tilted slightly to the side and she seemed to be thinking deeply.
"I'm not going to forget about Hermione..." she says slowly.
"Why? Please Abby just-," I'm cut off yet again.
"I'm not going to forget about it because I feel the same way..." when she says this my heart starts palpitating faster than I thought possible.
"You-What?" I ask.
"I. Love. You. Too." She says smiling.
She scoots closer to me.
Cupping my face with her hands she peers into my eyes.
Breathing deeply she plants a soft, sweet kiss on my lips startling me.
I kiss her back.
Abby leans into my kiss, pressing into my touch.
My hands went to her hair, softer than silk as it ran through my fingers.
She smiles against me and moves a hand to my own hair playing with one of the escaped ringlets.
Then I remember Malfoy.
I break away first gazing at her smiling face.
"What about Malfoy?" I ask.
"Oh right..." she says her smile is fading.
"Well...I don't know...I can't break up with him without a reason..."
"Then we keep this a secret until we can find a reason," I say desperately.
"Like we do with studying."
"Ooh~Hermione Granger...you want to break the rules? Again? I like this side of you," she giggles, hugging me tightly.
I wrap my arms around her torso grinning when she kisses my forehead.
"I think... that I'm going to like studying a whole lot more now," she murmurs.
In the distance I hear the bell chime one.
I sigh sitting up.
"What's the matter?" She asks me.
"We should probably go back to our dorms," I say.
She nods reluctantly.
"Cmon I'll walk you back," I say, grabbing Harry's invisibility cloak.
I throw it onto the both of us and we head down the stairs to the dungeons.
"Don't worry they can't see us," I murmur as her breath hitches when she sees the Ravenclaw prefects walking our way.
She nods, breathing normally.
We arrived outside her dorm not long after, Abby showed me secret passages that made our journey shorter.
I kiss her once more before drawing the cloak off of us.
She waves at me before she disappears through the Slytherin portrait hole.
I throw on the invisibility cloak one more time heading back to the Gryffindor tower only to arrive just before the bell chimed two.
