Chapter 1: The sound of rain

Izuku was just 6-year-old when he killed his father. He watched as the life seeped through his father's sunken eyes; eyes that pierced through his soul like a honed dagger.

The sound of rain tapping at the windows mingled with the echos of blood dripping from his father's stomach.

"I… I didn't mean to…" He murmered, staring blankly at his father's expressionless face. "You… you were hurting mommy and… and… I'm sorry… Dad… dad?" a pair of arms quickly wrapped themselves around his body before he could continue any further.

"It's okay, Izuku." He heard his mother whisper, pulling him closer to her. "This… this wasn't your fault. It… don't blame yourself. Everything… Yes, everything will be alright."

Izuku looked back at his mother's battered and bruised face, and it was then that he cried. Looking into his mother's weak expression filled him with nothing but dread. He sunk his head into her chest, trying to get away from it all.

"Mommy… will dad be okay? Will he? Will he? I didn't mean to… I…"

He felt her hand caress his head.

"Izuku…"

Tck Tck Tck

"Please… just…close your eyes…"

Tck Tck Tck

"It wasn't your fault."

"You were just trying to be a hero, right? To protect me, right? I know It was just an accident." She whispered into his ear, her voice quivering.

At age 6, Izuku received his quirk, a momentous day, a gift for most, but in the case of Izuku Midoriya, It was nothing but a promise from the devil himself as to what laid ahead in his future.

"Midoriya!"

Izuku jolted up lethargically from his, opening his eyes to the dismay of his homeroom teacher.

"s-sorry! I was- "

"Forget it for now. Think of this as a warning. If I end up catching you dozing off in class one more time and I'll have to call your mother, alright?" The teacher interjected.

"Yes… sorry sir." Izuku said, sliding back down to his seat as far as possible to get away from the stares of his classmates.

He took a glance at the dreary clouds looming just outside the class windows. The tap of rain upon glass soothed his mind as he had come to find. It allowed him to get lost in his mind without much difficulty.

Whilst his teacher talked about the ever-nearing topic of high schools and enrollments, Izuku watched as each one of the droplets beat at the glass, one by one, unrelenting.

"Damn right!"

Izuku spun his head around to the commotion.

"Of courseI applied to U.A, I'm Katsuki Bakugo! I aced the midterms no sweat! I'm a genius like no damn other! And my quirks a gift from the god-damn heavens compared to you bottom dwellers!"

Izuku's childhood friend was as bombastic as ever, he thought, watching as the rest of the class drew insult from his remarks.

"The hells your problem Bakugo?"

"You're acting as if you're guaranteed a spot in U.A! It has a 0.5% acceptance rate, y'know!"

"Did you just call us bottom dwellers!?"

"Oh, shut it, extras!" Katsuki retaliated with a sneer.

"Settle down," The teacher began. "You especially, Bakugo. In any case I wasn't quite finished. Midoriya has also applied for U.A aswell.

The class erupted into chaos once more.

"Really? Midoriya? But he's always so… passive!"

"Does he even have a quirk?"

"He's nice and all… but I don't think he's thought this through hard enough!"

Izuku stood from his desk, followed by a gentle push of his chair.

"I'm going to U.A." He said calmly, yet clearly, his hands clenched tightly. "I'll become a great hero no matter what everybody thinks of me, alright?" He turned to Katsuki Bakugo. "And Kacchan… Lets hope we both manage an acceptance from U.A."

He flashed a smile at the class before quietly taking back his seat.

"The hell do you mean you're going to U.A," Katsuki yelled as he pushed Izuku back into a wall behind the school after the last lesson had ended. "Are you trying to piss me off? Acting like we're equals?"

"Kacchan, let me go. I-"

"Or what, freak." Katsuki's hands began to glow, releasing miniature explosions soon after. "You think I've already forgotten?"

"I know you haven't," Izuku responded, pushing Katsuki's hands off his collar. "But it's none of your business."

"I'd say competing with a fucking murderer for the same damn school is. What makes you think someone like you has ever been qualified to even think of becoming a hero?"

"You of all people know I didn't… you know it was an accident." Izuku said as rain trickled down his head. "Just… just leave me alone, alright?"

"You know, you better be glad that news didn't spread too far. If everyone knew just the type of monster you are… how'd you think they'd react?"

Tck Tck Tck

"I get it, Katsuki! I get it already! Please just stop already!" Izuku yelled, his emerald eyes illuminating the droplets of rain before him.

Katsuki's countenance waned ever so slightly as he took a quick glance at Izuku's scrunched face. "Tsk, whatever. You won't get in no matter how hard you try either way. Just don't get in my way."

Tck Tck Tck

Izuku watched silently as Katsuki walked away from him, hands shoved in pockets and all. He took a deep breath and dug through his cloudy hair with his hand before regaining composure.

With the rain fading ever so slightly, he started his way home.

Over the years Izuku experienced his fair share of bullying. He'd just come to be accustomed to it at that point. Afterall, he was an easy target. A pale, frail-looking soft-spoken kid, the only thing he was missing was giant post-it note stuck to his back that said "Kick-me".

It wasn't as if he couldn't defend himself. Believe him, he wanted to, but there was always something holding him back from doing so. He assumed it was just fear of repeating passed events, however at times he thought it might be the fear of the possibility that he'd take too much enjoyment in retaliating. Was he protecting people from a false identity, or rather, his true self?

It wasn't something he'd found the answer to quite yet.

As the clouds began to disperse and the sun began to peak its head through, Izuku smelt something off with the air.

He looked towards the center of musutafu city and caught view of a cloud of smoke that enveloped all that got in its way. Following it were screams of terror layered upon one another like the howls of wolves.

Something bad just happened- a villain attack maybe, Izuku thought.

He quickly made his into an emptey alley way with a dumpster situated right next to a small building. He looked around, making sure nobody was around before jumping into the dumpster.

Seconds later, a hairy hand popped up from the dumpster, pushing the dumpster lid off just enough for a monkey to leap out from. The monkey shook its body vigorously before flailing its arms about, seamlessly transforming into an eagle less than a moment later and taking off.

The green-eyed eagle flew up into the air, circling the alleyway once then twice, looking for something before picking up on a gigantic smoke cloud and shooting straight towards it.

One moment the streets of Musutafu were bustling with people of all types, the next moment buildings were getting exploded left and right, entire blocks were charred, blackened, turned to ash and soot after being set ablaze.

A villain with a body made of sludge captured a young male within itself, gaining control of the teen's body and quirk.

"Shit…" Death arms, a pro hero said grimly as he and a few other heroes were forced to retreat backwards from another explosion sent their way. "Kids got one hell of a quirk I'll tell you that."

Death arms looked back at the crowd of civilians, looking at the scene whilst another pro hero held them back from moving any closer.

"Death arms," Other Pro hero kamui woods began just to Death arms' left. "We don't have much we can do at the moment. Blunt force attacks won't work. My piercing attacks go straight through his body and getting close just triggers him to send off a flurry of even more explosions."

"The hell's taking him so long?" Death arms grumbled.

The crowd murmured worry and frustration. All might should've been there already.

"where's All might?!" Once man asked from the crowd.

"We got this!" Death arms replied. "Don't panic!"

As death arms and Kamui woods kept their distance, Katsuki Bakugo fought for his mind and body. His whole world had been encompassed, ensnared in slime. He was running out of breath and with every second that passed, the villain drew closer and closer to full control over his body.

He cursed himself, trying desperately to escape the villains' clutches, to no avail. The thought of keeping his eyes open to witness the destruction that had been caused due to his quirk, the people he'd injured, the fear he put onto their faces, it only became harder and harder to bear.

The world grew darker as he could barely hear the muffled screams of the civilians through the sludge.

"Hey- is that a bird?!" He managed to hear someone yell from the outside.

THUD

The hell just happened. Katsuki thought as he felt something else enter the sludge villain's body. He bent his neck, only to find a green-eyed snake with its mouth wide open, spewing something from its fangs through the slime right below him. The snake then wriggled through the slime before escaping out the other end and… transforming into an eagle?

For a moment the slime became stiff, only to soften completely seconds later, dropping to the floor, freeing Katsuki completely from its clutches in one fell swoop

He took a massive gulp of air for the first time in what had felt like an eternity.

"Kid!" He heard one of pro heroes call as they made their way over to him.

Katsuki sat next to unmoving puddle of goo, stirring ever so slightly. Soon enough, paramedics and police came to the scene. Everything went by in a blur. They asked him questions about incident, people even praised him for his quirk's destructive capabilities, yet the only thing stuck on his mind was who or what even saved him back there.

The worst thing about it was that he felt like he'd seen that thing somewhere before.

Izuku poked the lid up from the dumpster with a sharp inhale.

"Everything stinks… my clothes… my books… mom's not going to like this." Izuku murmured as he made his way out of the dumpster. "Yeugh… Well… I mean it beats someone seeing me naked in public, but I need a suit for this or something!"

He grumbled and took out a notebook and pen from his bag, flipping a couple pages before scribbling something down.

"Cobra… venom… mutation quirk… good to know…" He mumbled with a smile that hopped from ear to ear. "Suit…"

The sky was clear now, the sun kissing the top of his head as he wrote down more notes into his notebook.

It had been a while since Izuku had first started saving people in secret with his quirk. Technically it was vigilantism and was sort of… illegal, but he made sure not to get caught. He liked helping people, saving lives, bringing hope to people faces, just like All might.

Though it'd been years since the incident, the look in his father's eyes that had pierced his soul left a wound that would never heal. One that would forever remind him of what he'd done that night.

Unbeknownst to him this was just the very start of his journey to conquer himself and his persisting past.

This is the story of Izuku Midoriya.

The devils omen.

Son of monsters.

king of beasts.
