Samey walked out of her car, and through the parking lot, wearing a green jogging suit, and almost slouching as she walks. The twin nervously walked through the hallways of the studio, and reached for the door, where she was introduced to Josh and the entire production crew grinning at her. She froze for a minute, "Uh... Hi... For some reason, I'm more nervous than ever."
"DON'T be nervous. Come on over here Samey," Josh instructed, and almost rushing her to the interview seat. "I have a stack of photos that had people you competed with, and we're going to go through them alphabetically. We are going to skip your sister to save her for last, and focus on Beardo first.'
She just groaned and rolled her eyes, "Firstly, my name is Samantha, my nickname is Sammy, and I have no issue talking about Beardo. I didn't have a chance to get to know him while being in the game, since he was the first boot. After I was eliminated, all of the others who were there before me wanted to get a chance to properly get to know me, and he was open to that. He wanted to know everything about what happened to Amy and I in the game in addition to our lives prior to the show, and I expressed the truth, even owning my negative parts. Beardo was intrigued and understanding, which pissed Amy off even more, so he saw some of her negativity and vindictiveness for himself, proving that I was telling the truth about her and our history. We had a lot of fun and great moments over the next several weeks, as the season continued on, and I appreciate him for standing up for me, and getting a chance to see how I am as a person, on my own. We don't speak much now, but I have no issues with him."
He pulled out the picture of the dark indian man for them to discuss, "Dave is the next person we are discussing, and for some reason, I don't see the two of you getting along, but I've been shocked before. What are your thoughts on him?"
"While I was in the game, I did not have many thoughts, but I did think he was crossing the line with Sky. He had no interest in speaking to most of the cast, especially me, so our first dealing was when he was eliminated from the game, and kept complaining about his situation with Sky. In the two week gap between his and Jasmine's arrival, he started blaming her for his relationship with Sky failing, and started slandering her, which I was not going to allow. We spoke about it, and I told him that he needs to be accountable for his actions, since a person who is not in his relationship could ruin it, and then he just replied that I was mad about Amy and Topher sleeping together as a deflection tactic. After what he did to not only Sky, but Jasmine, and his supposed good friend Shawn in the finale, I was done with him, and thought he was complete garbage. Things got so much worse once he and Amy befriended one another, since most of the cast and the viewing audience hated them both."
Josh immediately perked up, "I could imagine that going so well. Did Amy tell him personal stuff about you? Did it make your relationship with Amy even worse?"
She nodded her head, "Absolutely, since they leant on one another as they became more hated, and the both of them had reasons to go after Jasmine and I. Dave would listen to everything Amy said about us, Dave tried to turn Topher against me, which Topher shot down, and really started attacking the two of us on social media. When Shawn and Dave became friends again, Dave told him EVERYTHING Amy told Dave, which caused tension between not only Shawn and I, but Shawn and Jasmine as well. I truly believe he helped Shawn go crazy, and I don't respect him at all for his homophobic claims."
"We are going to move onto Ella, who in my opinion, was also bullied and treated horribly by most of the people on the season, as I think the two of you were treated the worst on the show. Do you see things like that?" he brought up, as he handed her Ella's picture.
"I DID see it like that, and I was the only one to see it, since Ella was in denial about a lot of what happened throughout the game. I knew what that was like, since I did it in my past, thinking that it was going to kill or minimize the drama and trauma, but it only made things worse, so I had to tell her to break out of it. Once we were not trauma bonding, we did bond over having a lot of similar interests, and we would watch movies, tv shows, gush over guys, and cheer as well as work out together. It was really nice, and she was one of my great friends at the elimination resort, but something changed, and I don't really know what the change was, or at least on her end, but it happened around the end of our time on the resort."
He remembered what Ella told him, "So I spoke to Ella days ago, and she mentioned that you changed around the time Jasmine got eliminated, and kind of ignored her and others for Jasmine. Do you think that's what the change was?"
Samey immediately disagreed, and shook her head, "I don't know why she came to that conclusion, but I did not cut her off because Jasmine was eliminated. Maybe that was something Ella was insecure about, since she didn't have many female friends in the game, and she got sad that I was bonding with Jasmine again, who was my friend beforehand, but there was some stuff that Jasmine and I needed to clear up, hence me spending more time with her immediately. In MY opinion, the REAL change was when she dated Dave, since it was clear that he was using her to repair his image, and to be a rebound. He treated so many of the cast, INCLUDING HER so badly, and he didn't show any interest in her until after the season wrapped. SEVERAL people brought this up to her, and were GENUINELY CONCERNED for her, but she ignored all of us, and thought we were biased. It got VERY tense between us, and while she and David did break up, we never became best friends again, though we are on good terms today."
Josh did not look interested once he gave the next picture to Samey, "I hope I am not bored with this, but it's time to talk about Jasmine. We saw you two become quick friends, and I want to hear your perspective on it."
All she could do was smile, "Jasmine is a very nurturing and selfless person, and she is good at sensing someone's auras, but she isn't as developed as Dawn in that element. She knew that I was a good but wounded person, and that there was something dark with Amy, so she wanted to speak to me, and turns out that she went through something very similar in her life, so it did cause us to bond with one another. Jasmine really helped me grow as a person, and I wanted to be as confident, strong, and elegant as she was at the time. We ended up sleeping next to one another every day, and it was fun hearing her talk about her love for Shawn, and she told me A LOT about her insecurities. It did disappoint me that she did not support me in pretending to be my sister, and during my final day in the game, she remained silent when Amy came back, and fought me. I didn't like that at all."
"So what happened once she arrived in the last two weeks, and how have things been like since the season stopped filming?"
"We had a talk about it, and I asked her why she left me hanging to deal with all of that mess on my own, since she always said she would be there to defend me, but she didn't. Jasmine mentioned that she had her own thing happening that I didn't ask about, and she told me for two weeks to stop pretending to be my sister. It was definitely an argument, but we got over it, and once she was sad about having to go back to Australia, I spoke to my parents, who allowed her to live with is. We had a good time while she was living with us, and helping her transition into being a Canadian citizen was great. It felt like having the sister that I wish I had. It's... unfortunate that people..." Samey went on to explain, but started crying, which cut her words short.
Josh saw this, and wanted to comfort her, but also wanted to prod her as well, so he handed her a box of tissue, "Is... this about the rumors of you and Jasmine having a sexual and romantic relationship? Why did it bother you so much if it was false? Or was it false?"
She immediately got offended, "NOTHING HAPPENED! If something DID happen, I would embrace it, but it didn't, and they USED IT AS A LIE! My PARENTS got FREAKED OUT about it, and there was some notable tension. There were little comments that were made, and it became clear that Jasmine wanted to move out, so she did. Luckily we did not have a fall out over it, and we did clear things up, but then SHAWN started attacking our friendship, and she did EVERYTHING SHE COULD to ATTEMPT to save their relationship, even if it meant distancing herself from me for a bit. So there was a period of time where we did not speak, but she broke that, since it still was not fixing things with Shawn and herself. We are still friends today."
Josh grabbed another picture, "So we are going to move onto Max, and he WAS on your team. What are your thoughts on him overall?"
All she did was immediately toss the picture, "I don't know how he passed the screening to get on the show, like seriously. All Max did was play up for the cameras, promote his evil schticks, and just harassed all of us when he knew the cameras were on us. It wasn't like he was trying to be a strategic TD villain like the others, but he just really wants to be like Adolf Hitler. He claimed that I was being fake, and that Amy was the true victim in the situation, but I think his REAL issue with me is that he was jealous of Topher, and I was good friends with Topher. They both liked the cameras, and I found it ridiculous that he was getting mad at Topher for doing the same thing, but I just said that Topher was better, more entertaining, and the cameras liked him better, and then he rambled ON AND ON about every horrible thing that happened to me. He continued his antics after being disqualified, and REALLY attacked me on my life story, so I ignored him at the resort, and every TD event we attended together."
"Now it's time to get into the guy who was booted between yourself and Amy. What was it like dealing with Rodney? I only imagine that it was not an easy thing to deal with. And he was closer to your sister than yourself."
Samey just huffed and rolled her eyes, as she was presented the redhead's picture, "We had no connection whatsoever. After seeing how he treated the women on our cast, I thought he was an immediate misogynist, so I had no intention on speaking to him at all. And he clearly had no interest in speaking to me either, since he ate up everything Amy said about me, and would actively avoid me whenever I was around, which was fine with me. Rodney only spoke to me after my sister was eliminated, and he thought that I was her, so I was just over him in general. Once we were all out, and the game happened, I started hearing stuff about his story from other people, and I did feel bad for him, since I might have misjudged him, so I apologized to him. After that, we still didn't really speak at all, but we were kind of brought together for one convenience, which was when Shawn was trying to isolate Jasmine from the both of us, as we were her friends, and wanted the best for her, which he did not like. After that situation happened, Rodney and I lost contact, but I do appreciate him for that brief moment we were on the same side. I don't like how he latched onto Scarlett, who is using him to be her minion, so some of my original sentiments about him might have been correct."
Scarlett's picture was placed on the table, and there was a silence between them from what seemed like a minute, "This one is... awkward, and I'm not looking forward to speaking to her tomorrow. What are your thoughts on this Kinosewak teammate?"
The blonde woman looked around quite a bit, before speaking, "I thought she was a nice, though very odd, and somewhat isolated woman. Scarlett was the only person who decided to be neutral about the situation with my sister. The thing with Scarlett is that you could tell that she was analyzing, and breaking down everyone and everything, but she never gave ANYTHING to ANYONE, so she kept things too close to the chest for anyone to really feel comfortable with. With all of that being said, I NEVER WOULD HAVE IMAGINED that Scarlett would have threatened to kill everyone, and blow up the island. Everyone just removed themselves from her, and isolated her on the resort, since we didn't think she should have been there with us. The producers REFUSED to arrest her, or put her into rehab, which pissed us ALL off. She did get mad at me when I told Rodney to not bring her back into our cast circle some years later, and we did get into it, but that's it for my interactions with the nutjob."
"Now it's time to move onto Shawn, though we have talked about him here and there throughout the day. I don't recall you ever having a full-on conversation with him on the show."
"We did have some conversations on the show, and I thought he was nice, though clearly was suffering from a lot of trauma. I tried to use that as a way to bond with him, since that description fit me as well. In general, we had a nice enough repour with one another, though Shawn did not speak to many people that wasn't Jasmine anyways. Once I started sleeping outside with the two of them, he said that he was proud of me. We had a nice enough friendship that was starting to form outside of the show, I went to his house, he went to my house, and we hung out quite a bit. Shawn in his heart is not a bad person, and while the show was airing, and after the show wrapped up, he was happy, and was putting in the work to go to therapy, but... a switch ended up happening," she went over with a bittersweet cadence.
Josh's interest immediately grew, "What, where, and when was the switch?"
Samey's face grew blank for a bit, "One of the main reasons was when he reconnected with Dave and his toxicness a few years after the show. Dave brought his nastiness, and the stuff he got from Amy to get at Shawn, and it REALLY caused him to... derail his mental health. Another issue is that Shawn got mad when Jasmine wanted to hang out with people without him, and it seemed like he attached his mental health and recovery to Jasmine, which is NOT a good thing to grasp onto one person or thing. He became too codependent towards Jasmine, and then started to sabotage all of her relationships, so he picked fights with myself, threw out nasty rumors that he heard about me, and tried to poison her against me. I was not going to take this lying down, so I defended myself, and NOT ONLY did I find out that he stopped getting his medication, but the third reason why things fell apart is that HE STARTED TO TAKE ILLEGAL DRUGS. Shawn started tweaking, and it became clear that he was doing drugs, which was the REAL reason why Jasmine broke things off with him, and he was put into rehab. The way Shawn disrespected me during that time is something I just cannot forgive, and I want NOTHING to do with him for the rest of my life, and even in the afterlife."
Josh just grabbed the next picture, "Sky is the next person on the list. I didn't see the two of you interact during the season, but I could see the two of you getting along."
"Sky and I have never had any issue with one another, and don't have one now. But we never really became close friends. I think my early elimination, us being on opposite teams, and her never showing up to the elimination resort had a HUGE part in that. When the drama with Dave happened, I did reach out to her, and she did reach out to me once she knew about the story with Amy. Jasmine is friends with us both, so we did hang out quite a bit with one another, and Sky's confidence is something that I still admire for today. We had A LOT of GREAT moments when we were in Australia, had a lot of tough talks with one another, and I really felt like she was going to be one of my best friends. She seems like someone who only does things when it is convenient, and I think that is how she sees a lot of relationships as well, as she focuses on accomplishing goals, and being competitive more. I called her out for her convenient friendships and relationships, which she did not take well to, and I thought it was odd when she hooked up with Dave again. Still a nice person, but just not close, though I wanted us to be close."
"Now we're going to move onto Sugar, and I don't think the two of you interacted whatsoever on the show."
She immediately shook her head, "Absolutely not, and she was revolting from the very beginning. She makes Owen look clean and tidy, with how she dresses, her hygienic process, what she eats, and how she eats. She hated on all the pretty girls on the season, but I just mainly ignored her, and I was glad I didn't make it to the merge, so I wouldn't be forced to interact with her. I remember when she finally arrived in the last week to the resort, and she was SHOCKED that no one wanted to be around her. Sugar tried to turn everyone against one another, and she was mad that I was being friends with Ella, so we got into a nasty argument at the end of the season about her being fake, her being jealous that everyone was thinner than her, and that Ella is everything that she wished she could be. Sugar threatened to beat me up, mentioned something about Amy and Topher, and she continued taunting all of the girls when we were at Australia, but no one cared. I made some sort of dig about Leonard hooking up with his partner during the spinoff, and she ATTACKED ME. It was done for her after that."
He could not help but shake his head once he handed her Topher's picture, "From what we saw, he did not speak to ANYONE, but there was a soundbite from your sister that mentioned he thought you were fat. But from the interviews I've done so far, you've had A LOT of dealings with him. What the hell is that about?"
A blush came up on her face, "Things are... complicated between Topher and I. He was one of the FEW people who showed genuine interest in getting to know me, so we had a lot of conversations, and he really was more social than what the show captured. I did think he was sexy, and he was clearly attracted to me as well, but we just became friends, and there was nothing romantic going on. Amy was jealous that he became close to me, and it became EVEN WORSE when we got close after she was booted. He told me after he was eliminated that he could tell that I took her spot, so it was nice that our connection was... ours. There was a time or two where we made out at the resort, and he's good with pleasing women, but I just could no go out and date him."
"But from what I've heard, he has also gotten intimate with Amy as well, so it seemed like he was playing the two of you, and pitting the two of you against one another. How did you feel comfortable getting with someone who slept with not only your twin sister, but your biggest adversary?" he questioned with intrigue, and annoyance in his voice.
Samey groaned, "That was very frustrating, but he and I were never formally together, so it wasn't like he was cheating on me. There were periods where Topher and Amy were not speaking, since he even realized what a piece of shit she was, and Topher has really supported me through many things. When he was getting the backlash for being humiliated on the show, he came to me. But there was a point where I questioned him about what his intentions were with me, and he just saw me as someone he wanted to have fun with, and to be friends with benefits. I took that for what it was, and we never did anything whatsoever, and that happened a few years ago. We still occasionally text or whatever, but we are not as close as we once were."
The final picture was put on the table, and Josh was excited, "Fortunately for YOU, your twin Amy is last, though I would have LOVED to have talked about her first. Talk about her from birth, but don't waste 20 minutes on that either."
She refused to even look at the picture, and spoke as she ripped it into pieces, "She was diagnosed with being a narcissist, and a sociopath from when we were very little, but our parents did not know what to do with it, so they unleashed her into normal society without the proper tools. She would torture me any chance she could get, and it got so bad to the point that Child Protective Services got involved. Amy thought that I played the victim a lot, but I am just a normal human with normal feelings, while she was, and still is mentally ill. Our parents would punish us, and would not pay attention to either of us much, as they were too preoccupied with other things. Due to that, we were forced to do EVERYTHING together, and I think they were being lazy parents. Amy was on EVERY team that I was on, and because of that, she used her sociopathy to charm people, and poison them against me. She would pick on me because I saw her number, and our parents were too lazy to deal with it, so they sent us away. If my parents generally took the time to get Amy the proper help that she needed, all four of us would be a better position, and we would be a healthy family, but that wasn't the route that they took. I told them that she needed help, they refused to get it, and Amy was mad that I said she has a problem that needs to be fixed."
Josh wanted to get to the good stuff, "So how did this lead to the both of you being on the show? And was the edit accurate as to what happened?"
"We were both fans of the show, but Amy was not going to audition for the show, since she was worried that she would not pass the medical evaluation. Luckily for her, they threw that out with our generation, especially since there were more evil people on the season than her on it. I made the mistake of mentioning a twin in my casting tape, so of course they investigated her, and we were both put on the show. How she got on the show, while lying that she did not seek out production was what we were arguing about on the blip. For the most part, what you all saw on the show was accurate to the events that happened, from her pulling the same tactics that she used in school to isolate me, and performing poorly in challenges. The only thing that they did not show was that Topher and I had a flirtation, and she was mad that I was able to get someone to like me, so she sabotaged that with the best of her ability, and I called her out for that. While I'm not proud of the antics I used to get her out of the game, it had to be done for me to prove myself on my own."
He couldn't help but shake his head, "I can't believe the two of you fought over Topher, and none of it was put on the episodes. How were things like at Playa des Losers, and how have the two of you been like since the show ended?"
She just had a saddened look on her face, "Amy and I got into a HUGE fight once we landed on the resort, and we actually almost drowned one another once we got out of the cannon. It was REALLY BLOODY, and the entire cast, as well as the crew were worried, since Amy BROKE OUT OF SEQUESTER AT THE RESORT TO COME FOR ME. A therapist was brought in to speak to us, and it got so bad to the point that we could not even do a joint session together, and even the therapist got fed up. We just went out separate ways after a while at the resort, but more people were getting to know me on my own, wanted to hear my life story, and they felt bad for me, which pissed her off because Amy's antics were no longer working at the resort. It got even worse once the season aired, and the general public took to me more than her. Amy got depressed, but refused to get help, and I officially cut her out of my life when she used homophobic rhetoric to slander Jasmine and I, accusing us of being lesbians, and trying to ruin Jasmine's relationship with Shawn."
"Now it's time to move onto the other casts, since I know there are TD events that causes for the generations to interact with one another. What are some notable interactions that you've had with the other casts?"
"Well, I am actually good friends with a lot of the first generation women. Lindsay, Sadie, Katie, and Beth are some that I talk to a lot, and I'm on good terms with Gwen, Leshawna, and Bridgette. A lot of their men are also people I'm cool with, like Trent, Cody, Harold, Geoff, and DJ. Not as close to the second generation cast, though there are some like Dawn, Brick, Zoey, Mike, Sam, and Dakota who I am also on good terms with. In general, I like a lot of them."
Josh started wrapping things up, "And lastly, what have you been up to since the show ended, and what have you learned from your experience on "Total Drama?" I wonder if it's similar or different than your sisters."
All she could do was smile, "The main thing that I learned from my experience on "Total Drama" is to attain self-confidence, and individuality. It was something that I always craved, but how to get it was what be founded me, and I was not going to waste this opportunity being hovered by my evil sister. My life truly changed for the better after that, so I decided to go to school for social work, which I did for a while, and I did get my degree in it. Did a few internships, and how I'm working at a therapist's office, where I will officially become a therapist in a year or two, once I get my certificate."
He went to shake her hand, "Thank you for the interview, and not being unpleasant, like the last few people I spoke to."
"No, thank you for this. I really enjoyed it."
