A/N: Here we go again!

I don't own Eden's Zero.

I hope you enjoy the prologue.

The Ill-Fated Voyage of the Undine

Prologue: The Call of Space

The sun shone through the thick smog, painting the dark gray sky over the world of Kakorum a dull orange as large freighters and trash hauling skiffs flew through the air, their robot pilots mindlessly carrying out their tasks as workers toiled down on the surface below, breaking down and scavenging useful parts from old, derelict spaceships that dotted the landscape of Kakorum as far as the eye could see, their blowtorches and other tools could be seen from a distance, lighting the old vessels up in a spectacular light show as the workers went about their business.

Aboard one of these large vessels was a young woman, covered in ash and oil, though her face was covered by a large, black gas mask as she held out a B-Cube in her hand and a large blowtorch in her other hand.

"Looks like that wannabe B-Cuber is about to go at it again," she heard a nearby worker say loudly.

"Yeah, when's she gonna learn that's a waste of time. She's stuck here in the muck with the rest of us scum no matter how hard she tries," another worker remarked harshly.

"Just give up already, Ziv!" the first worker shouted as the woman, Ziv, grit her teeth under her gas mask.

"I'm not giving up. I'm getting off this rock if it's the last thing I do," Ziv muttered before the B-Cube in her hand lit up as she began recording, "Hey there guys! We're back with Scav-Ziv here on Kakorum! We're picking up where the last shift left off with breaking down this Class-X Heavy Cruise- Ow!" she gasped as she was struck on the head with a large piece of metal that one of the workers had thrown at her.

"Shut up already! We don't wanna hear you talking to yourself anymore!" the worker shouted before grabbing another piece of scrap and chucking it at Ziv, the metal sailing right past her head before impacting against the wall as Ziv began to run off as the other worker started heckling her again while another piece of scrap sailed through the air and hit her in the back as she ran away, not stopping until she entered the Clean Room, a safe zone in the ship stocked with medical supplies and air scrubbers to filter out the toxins in the air. Ziv pulled off her gas mask as soon as the doors were sealed, revealing her black hair which was dyed with streaks of cerulean blue as her light blue eyes stared at her face in the mirror, grimacing as she inspected the now bleeding wound on her forehead before she scrambled to find a first aid kit.

"Tch… those idiots. I don't have to put up with their shit… I shouldn't have to," she mumbled to herself as she felt tears welling up in her eyes as she continued to dig through the supply cabinet, eventually finding a medical kit with disinfectant inside before starting to clean up her forehead and placing a bandage on it before dressing the wound on her back as best as she could before putting her gas mask back on and leaving the Clean Room, making sure to seal the door behind her before patting her side, "Shit. I dropped my blowtorch back there," Ziv cursed as she realized what had happened before she began to slowly and quietly make her way back to where the other two workers were, hoping that they had moved on by now, though a sudden shift in the ship caused her to stumble into the wall, "What the hell!?" she gasped before a loud screeching noise could be heard throughout the entire ship, along with screaming as the ship began to lean too far in one direction, "Did the supports snap!?" Ziv screamed before the ship toppled over, throwing Ziv from where she was and into the other wall before blacking out.

"Wh-what happened?" were the first words out of Ziv's mouth as she woke back up, surrounded by darkness until she began to fiddle with her gas mask, the goggles in the mask lighting up as she activated the mask's night vision before standing up, thanking her luck for not waking up crushed under a metal pillar or impaled by a piece of scrap, though the hairs on the back of her neck stood up as alarm bells in her head were screaming about how unstable the ceiling over her head was, especially as the creaking of metal could be heard throughout the structure, "I've gotta get out of here," she mumbled before starting to wander off in a random direction, eventually coming to a rather large chasm with several wires hanging over it.

"Well, not going that way," she muttered before hearing a large collapse happen back in the direction she had come from, "Orrrrr… Maybe I am?" Ziv said as she nervously looked around, eventually spotting an opening on the other side of the chasm. "This has got to be the stupidest thing I've ever done," she sighed as she reached out for one of the wires, grabbing it and tugging on it as hard as she could to make sure it was safe to use, eventually deciding that it was and starting to back up, wire in hand, before getting a running start and leaping over the chasm, swinging across it with the wire before leaping off the wire and landing on a small platform in front of the opening she was aiming for.

"Shit," she cursed as she felt the platform buckle underneath her weight before collapsing and dropping her onto a sloped wall beneath it, "Shit!" she cursed again as she began to slide down the wall, grabbing whatever exposed wires she could to try and slow her fall until she eventually reached the bottom, rolling as she hit the ground, kicking up dirt in the process until she stopped rolling, "Dirt?" she gawked as she scooped up the earth into her hands, "It's dirt! I'm on the ground! I've never been so happy to be on this ball of toxic waste and garbage!" Ziv celebrated before tossing the dirt into air before sighing, "I still need to get out of this wreck before it falls on my head though," she mumbled before standing up to start walking, only making it a short way before tripping over something.

"The hell?" Ziv gawked as caught herself before falling over, looking down at what she had tripped on, "A hand? A robot hand!?" she said excitedly as she quickly scrambled down to examine the hand before grabbing a piece of scrap from nearby to use as a makeshift shovel, digging out the hand and then the arm until she found the main body of the robot, an egg-shaped dome with an old, digital screen on it with what she assumed to be some sort of projector sticking out from above the screen, "What a haul!" Ziv shouted as she struggled to lift the robot up, "Ugh… It's heavy, but it's not too bad since this robot is pretty small," Ziv groaned, "But this'll make one hell of a video! Old ass robot disassembly! Hell yeah!"

. : + : .

"What a day," Ziv sighed as she eventually made it back to her rundown apartment. Her escape from the wreck had been pretty uneventful after she had found the robot and after making some made-up excuse to the authorities, she was allowed to take the old robot home with her. After opening up the door to her home, she dragged the robot into her small and cramped studio apartment, leaving it on the kitchen floor as she examined it properly now that she could take her gas mask off again, taking note of the small, cylindrical tube that stuck out of the bottom of the main body and the four, small spider-like legs sticking out of a platform on the lower end of the tube.

"Alright, let's get this started," Ziv said as she pulled out her B-Cube and began recording, "Hey there guys! We're back with Scav-Ziv here on Kakorum and I've had a hell of a day! The supports for the Class-X Heavy Cruiser I was working on collapsed with me inside it, but as I was making my way out of the wreck, I found this!" she announced, gesturing to the old, silver and rusty red robot, "An old robot that's probably centuries old and we're gonna work on restoring it today and see if it's got anything interesting stored in its memory! Why? Because from what I can tell, this is a really old Mechanized Astro-Navigation Plotter Model, so old it's not even an android like the more modern ones you all at home might recognize!" she explained as she sat the robot up to look at the back of it, revealing a missing panel and a mess of wires, "Unfortunately, this guy's missing a lot of his old hardware, so we'll have to make due with what's left," Ziv continued before grabbing a small tool before sticking it inside of the robot.

"First we've gotta restore the parts this guy does have left and make sure they're serviceable, so we're gonna clean the grime and dust off with the electro-spanner and then use it to try and get this guy back online," Ziv said before droning on and on about the ins and outs of robot restoration, what she was doing with each tool and what each part she was cleaning was responsible for in the robot until the screen on its body began to light up, flickering on and off with heavy static, "Looks like he's almost back online!" Ziv announced before the robot's projector lit up, displaying a large star map of the seven cosmos before quickly changing to an image of a large, reptilian alien in a large coat with a large, cannon-like prosthetic on his left arm where its clawed hand should have been.

"M-m-m-m- BZT! Own-owner! C-c-c-c-Captain! Bzzzzt! Talon!" the robot blurted out in a mess of static as it whirred back to life, "Captain! Captain! Captain Ta-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-lon!"

"Captain Talon? The Captain Talon!? The Dread Pirate from the stories!?" Ziv asked excitedly as she moved around to the front of the robot.

"D-d-d-d-d-read Pirate's H-h-h- Bzt! Treasure!" the robot exclaimed before the star map appeared in the air in place of the pirate again.

"You have a map to the Dread Pirate's treasure horde!?" Ziv exclaimed as she sat the robot up as it shut off its projector, a simplistic face appearing in the screen, scrambled by static.

"Affir-af-a-a-a-a- Bzt! Yes!" the robot responded before the static cleared from its face as it stood up on its four small legs before wobbling about the apartment.

"Hear that, guys? A real map to THE Dread Pirate Talon's treasure horde! This little guy is worth a fortune! But that's all from me for now, see you next time!" Ziv said before ending the recording session and holding her B-Cube up closer to her face, "Aaaaand edited and uploaded. If that doesn't go viral, nothing will," she sighed before turning to the wobbly robot.

"Oh c-c-c-c-a-aptain, my c-captain. Wh-wherefore-fore-fore are you cap- Bzt! Master?" the robot stammered out while repeatedly running into Ziv's kitchen counter, "I'm go-go-going to loc-loc- Bzt! Find you, Master!"

"Hey, buddy," Ziv called out before kneeling down to be closer to eye level with the robot, "Hellooooo?"

"O-o-oh. Gree-gre-gr- Bzt! Hello there, human! Have you seen my mas-ma- Bzt! Owner anywhere? He's a tall- tall- tall- tall- tall… Bzt! Above average height individual! With scales! And a big fluffy, feathered pirate hat!" the robot asked as his face screen glitched out along with his speech.

"Captain Talon, right?"

"Yes! Have you-you-you s-s-s-s- Bzt! Witnessed him?"

"I hate to tell you this little guy, but Captain Talon died two-hundred and fifty years ago," Ziv explained as the robot's face screen changed from a light blue to a very dark blue and a tear drop animation began to play underneath its eyes as its body drooped forward a bit.

"O-o-o-o-oh… P-poor-poor- Bzt! Misfortunate captain. His organic bits finally caught up to-to-to him," the robot mourned as the crying animation continued to play in its face screen.

"Hey, it's alright. If it makes you feel any better, there's no one that hasn't heard the legend of the Dread Captain's Treasure Horde."

"It's-it's-it's what he wanted, cor-cor-cor- Bzt! Yes. That's why he too-too-too-took parts of my hardware and sca- Bzt! Hid them across the cosmos, so no one would ever loc-loc-loc- Bzt! Find it and his legend would last forever," the robot explained.

"Wait, but you have the map," Ziv asked.

"Part of it," the robot admitted, "M-m-m-mas- Bzt! Captain Talon scattered the parts of my hardware that contained parts of the map across the cosmos. Each fragment contains part of the map, and each map fragment leads to one of my missing piece-piece-piece- Bzt! Hardware fragments until all of my missing pieces are restored along with the map to the treasure."

"But why would you tell me this when the Dread Pirate wanted the treasure to stay hidden?" Ziv questioned as the robot's face screen lit up in bright yellow.

"Because you are my new-new-new Master! O, restor-restor-restor- Bzt! Fixer of functionality! You may addre-addre- Bzt! Call me Map!"

"Map?" Ziv repeated as she furrowed her brow at the robot.

"Yes! Map! It is an acronym for Mechanized Astro-Navigation Plotter! Coinci-coinci-coinci- Bzt! Incidentally, it was what my old Master called me! So, you can too!" Map declared happily as he held out one of his hands to Ziv, the young woman grabbing in return as the two shook hands.

. : + : .

"Captain!" a man shouted as he ran across the deck of a spaceship, "Captain! You need to see this, someone found the map to the Dread Pirate's Treasure Horde!" he declared, holding out a small B-Cube before the captain, a man with dirty blond hair and a navy-blue coat draped across his shoulders reached out and took it before playing the video, revealing Ziv and Map in the cube with a staticky, indecipherable map in the background, "Are… Are we going after it?"

"That's a funny question. Are we, the crew of the Undine going to hunt for the Dread Pirate's Horde?" the captain said as he handed the B-Cube back to his crewmate before stepping out into the middle of the open-aired deck before holding out his arms, "Naturally! We go where we please! And hunting for that treasure will be the greatest adventure we ever embark on! Crew of the Undine! Set a course for Kakorum! We're going to get that map!"

"Yes, Captain Antares!" the crew shouted back before the ship flew off into space on its new course, straight for Kakorum.

A/N: And there we are with the prologue for the new story. I've not written for Eden's Zero before, but it seems like it'll be a lot of fun since it's a lot of fantasy mixed with a lot sci-fi.

BE SURE TO READ THE INFORMATION DOWN BELOW! IT IS IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO KNOW FOR CHARACTER SUBMISSIONS!

But anyways, this is an SYOC and you all will be submitting characters that are or will become crew members of the Undine under Captain Luan Antares. I will be taking a total of 17 characters from you all, 5 of which will already be members of the Undine's crew while the other 12 will be picked up during the course of the story.

Regarding OC submissions, it is not first come, first serve. I will leave submissions open until I feel like I have enough to choose from and then close them before selecting which characters make the cut for the story. I am also the one who will be choosing which character is a part of the crew from the beginning or not.

There is a Discord Server for this story, this is the invite link code Z7fHPHAJNZ.

When it comes to sending me your submissions, do it in either the PMs here on fanfiction or in a DM on Discord. Discord is highly preferred though. Any character submitted in the reviews will be ignored, no ifs ands or buts.

Currently, there are no restrictions for Ether Gears except for the fact that I will not accept one that is already in use in canon. Restrictions will pop up more and more for various things as I accept characters though. I will make a list of them on the Discord.

I will allow your characters to be from any of the three currently named cosmos, being Sakura, Aoi and Kaede.

I will NOT accept any characters related to canon characters.

The story begins in the Sakura Cosmos, so keep that in mind when making your character.

Lastly, there are notes in parenthesis in the OC Form, please read and then delete them when making your character. If you send in the form and I still see my notes, I will make you delete the notes and resend the form.

That's it for now thought. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know. The best place to talk to me is on Discord since it's more fluid communication on there than in the FF private messages.
