ANYWAYS, HERE WE GO WITH CHAPTER 6.
PLEASE ENJOY.
Ann found herself entranced by the scene before her.
"Wow."
Sumire nodded.
"Our coaches would have called this poetry in motion."
Kasumi grinned.
"Such flashy yet precise movement. Not a single moment of wasted energy."
Even Ryuji had to admit that what they were witnessing was impressive.
"Their teamwork is something else too. They're on a whole different level."
If Ren hadn't been busy slicing a Jack O Lantern in two he would have probably blushed a little bit. He had intended to hold himself back for this specific visit to Kamoshida's castle but fighting Shadows had become second nature to him.
Without thinking too deeply about it his body knew how, when and where to move. Spending a good chunk of a previous lifetime fighting beside Morgana had also left him with a thorough understanding of the feline's move-set and tactics. To the black cat's credit he had caught on to some of Ren's style as well as they worked together. Their coordinated efforts left the Shadows they encountered with little space to present a challenge much less counterattack.
Our of the corner of his eye a pair of Pixies circled around Morgana preparing to attack once they felt an opening was there.
Ren shouted to Ryuji as he dispatched another Mandrake.
"Ryuji! The gun."
The blond perched an eyebrow.
"Huh?"
"The gun! Throw it!"
"But dude it's-"
"I know! Just throw it!"
Ryuji pulled the model piece out of his pocket and tossed it.
Ren slashed another enemy before catching the gun, spinning on his heels and pointing it at the remaining Pixies.
BANG! BANG!
The pair of winged cognitive creatures cried out in pain before disappearing into ash.
Ryuji and the others were left gobsmacked as Morgana surveyed the area to make sure they had completely wiped out their enemies.
"Thanks. I had an eye on them though."
"I know and you're welcome."
Ryuji finally found the words to speak.
"What the hell dude?! That gun's a model!"
Ren smiled as he holstered it.
"The Shadows think it's real and that's enough for it to work in this place."
Ann responded, her face and tone drenched in disbelief and confusion.
"What?! How does that even work?!"
Morgana shrugged.
"It's a cognition thing. I see a safe room nearby. Wanna take a short break?"
Ren nodded.
"Sure."
Ren took a sip of his drink before addressing Ann.
"How's that list you're working on?"
The blonde smirked as she pulled out her cellphone.
"I have the names of every imprisoned student we recognised saved on a note. I'm sure one of them will help us with information on Kamoshida, they may even be willing to tell the police about him."
Ren exhaled but said nothing more. If things were like in this previous timeline then no one would be willing to talk about Kamoshida's deplorable acts. However this was a necessary part of the Phantom Thieves realising that stealing Kamoshida's Treasure was the only way to stop him. He was sure Morgana would suggest it soon enough.
Ryuji spoke next.
"It sucks that none of our cameras were working though. We could have taken photo evidence."
Sumiee seemed unsure.
"Would that have worked though? Wouldn't the police wish to see the actual location where the torturing took place? Could we bring them here?"
Ryuji sighed.
"Good point."
Kasumi continued.
"We'll just have to use the information we have to get results."
Ann nodded as Morgana decided to join in.
"Up next is the rest of the King's Training Hall. Prepare yourselves. Some of the stronger Knights are known to patrol the area. We may have to retreat if Frizzy-hair and I can't handle it."
Ren finished his drink.
"Agreed. We should be extra careful. If we're all ready, let's go!"
Ryuji's fist slammed into the closest wall. His rage was a volcano on the brink of a major eruption.
"WHAT THE HELL IS THIS SHIT?"
The room was vastly different from the dark, musty dungeons that housed the tortured male prisoners.
Scented candles and perverse paintings now lined the walls. The room itself was oval shaped, brightly coloured and very spacious.
A singular X shaped rack could be seen in the distance. Thankfully it was not in use but the bloodied instruments that were hanging on the wall behind it painted a terrifying picture.
If all of that had not already been enough to agitate, disgust and infuriate the group of intruders, then the final pieces of the room's decor would finally get the job done.
Female slaves.
Several of them.
Some were leaning against the walls, others were sitting or laying down on the ground.
They were all scantily dressed, a few had on ridiculously perverse costumes.
They were all giggling, cooing...even moaning as they praised and bragged about the many impressive qualities of their precious King.
Kasumi was the one to verbalise their most frightening physical trait.
"Why...why are most of them faceless?"
Ren offered some valuable yet disturbing insight.
"Because to Kamoshida their identities and names matter very little. He's only after one thing."
Sumire averted her eyes.
"How awful..."
Ann was walking through the crowd of slaves. Her hands trembled as she scanned the room, a fear gnawing away at every single one of her nerves.
A voice caught her attention, one she so desperately did not wish to hear.
"Our Princess has seen it fit to gift us with her presence. How wonderful..."
Ann's eyes widened.
"...Shiho?"
The cognitive version of the brunette was dressed in a bunny costume that left very little to the imagination. Her bright red lipstick seemed to glisten under the candle light.
"Hello Princess."
Ann knelt down before the Shadow.
"What...what has that bastard done to you?"
Shiho frowned.
"Be wary of how you address your King... And for your information, he hasn't done anything worthwhile to me yet. I wish he would quit pining over you and finally make me his Princess. I'm tired of facing his ire whenever you reject his advances."
Ann grabbed onto the Shadow's shoulders.
"What do you mean Shiho?"
"I know you're not that stupid, Princess. I'm sure you've seen my bruises. Our King may mistreat us from time to time but things got infinitely worse when you began to flirt with him."
"Flirt with him? Shiho you know that I would never-"
"You're just a tease that enjoys being the one he wants. But I know one day he'll get tired of waiting and ravage me instead. Then I'll be his one and only Princess and you will be old news."
Ann's eyes began to water.
"Shiho...I..."
Morgana stepped forward.
"Lady Ann. This isn't the real Shiho. Only Kamoshida's twisted cognition."
Ann bit back. She was angry but Morgana knew that the anger wasn't intended for him.
"I know! I...know."
The blonde beauty turned her eyes back to the Shadow.
"I would never want Kamoshida to hurt you or anyone else. We're going to stop him!"
Another Shadow spoke up, a voice that everyone recognised.
"That's like never gonna happen!"
Ann frowned as the figure emerged from amongst another crowd of faceless slaves.
"No..."
The cognitive Ann grinned as she posed for the group. Her pink and black bikini hugged her curves closely. The silly kitty ear bandana of the same colours seemed to twitch on their own.
Kasumi discretely elbowed Ryuji in the ribs.
"Ow!"
The blond narrowed his eyes at the Auburn haired gymnast as he rubbed his side.
"What was that for?"
Kasumi blushed and turned her eyes back to Ann and her Shadow twin.
"You were staring."
Ryuji wasn't sure of how to respond to that but kept quiet and turned his attention back to the scene playing out before them, consciously doing his best not to stare at the Shadow's skin.
"I'll never understand girls."
Shiho and the other slaves in the room winced as Shadow Ann berated them.
"Like how did you idiots not realise that she's a fake?! She's nowhere as perfect as me! No wonder our King treats you like the trash you are!"
The real Ann fired back.
"Shut up! Don't talk to them like that!"
Princess Ann perched an eyebrow as she examined the real one.
"Why run from the truth? I am the Princess here. We both know that I only tease our King for the fun of it. Sooner or later I'll give him the satisfaction he desires."
Ann growled.
"I'm never giving that creep anything!"
"Oh but we will. Don't you see that our body's all we have ? We're not too bright and that modelling crap is just a part time hobby at best. Our only way to get to the top is to use our assets wisely. Our King could open so many doors for us if you'd just stop acting like a prude!"
"I don't need Kamoshida's help for anything and I'm more than my looks! I'm tired of people deciding my future for me! I will work hard to achieve my goals! I don't need to sleep around to get there!"
Princess Ann scoffed.
"No wonder the King thinks we behave childishly sometimes..."
Ann was about to step forward but a hand gently took hold of her wrist. The girl turned her blue eyes to the person standing behind her.
"Ren?"
The curly haired male spoke softly.
"Don't let them get to you. You have nothing to prove to Kamoshida's twisted cognitions or anyone else for that matter. Those who know you will always believe in you. Take comfort in that."
Ann took a deep breath.
"Thanks..."
The Princess frowned.
"You're one of those Thieves who harmed my King. You're dangerous."
Ren continued as he spoke to the whole group.
"We should go. I think she's been trying to stall us until another Guard unit arrives."
Shadow Ann snickered.
"How smart of you , unfortunately you're too late...NOW CAPTAIN!"
The ground rumbled as one of Kamoshida's Golden Knights burst through the floor. The cognitive Shiho and the other slaves took that as their cue to run.
Ren swore as he was forced to release Ann's hand and backflip to avoid the Knight's swinging sword.
"Shit! Ann!"
The blonde tried to make it back over to the group but found her path blocked by her Shadow doppleganger.
"Don't be stupid. If you go over there you'll die with them! Stay and serve our King! Save yourself! This world only has one use for women like us. It's time you accepted that!"
Sumire cried out.
"Morgana!"
Ann could see the battle out of the corner of her eye. The Knight had transformed into some kind of levitating toilet demon and had managed to knock Morgana over. Ren was doing his best to keep the Shadow busy while the group tried to help Morgana.
The blonde beauty tried to go but Princess Ann grabbed her.
"Don't try to be a hero! We both know we're too selfish for that. Why don't you submit to our King's wishes?!"
SLAP!
Ann's open handed slap was laced with so much fury that the Shadow Ann found it difficult to remain her balance. The Princess wobbled for a few seconds before finally falling over.
"I thought I already told you! I'm not gonna be some cheap toy for anyone to play around with! You've all pissed me off!"
A voice echoed within the deep reaches of Ann's mind.
"My...it's taken far too long."
Ann grabbed the sides of her head. An intense pain sank into her skull as the voice continued, her normally blue eyes had turned amber.
"Tell me...who will stop that man from hurting your friend ? Simply forgiving him will solve nothing. Will we not show our true strength?! I am thou...thou art I...We can finally forge a contract."
Ann grinned as a red mask appeared on her face.
"I hear you Carmen. You're right no more holding back!"
"There you go. Let us show them that our beauty is far deeper than what their eyes can see. Once you understand our purpose, I'll gladly lend you my strength!"
Ann ripped the mask right off.
The Shadow known as Belphegor grunted as Ren sliced through his hide with his dagger. The toilet demon attempted a counterattack as he swung his massive claws.
"Die!"
Ren ducked under the attack with ease.
The Shadow growled.
"Stay still you annoying thief. I swear by the King's throne that I will have your head."
Ren smirked.
"Wouldn't want to make things too easy for you."
The Belphegor attempted a bluff.
"Surrender! Your attacks barely phase me and you will soon run out of energy. You cannot protect your companions forever. I'm sure His Majesty will show them mercy."
PANG! PANG!
Two metallic projectiles smacked into the Shadow's eyes. Belphegor covered his face and released a pain filled groan.
Morgana put away his trusty slingshot as he walked up to Ren's side.
"Tell your King to keep his mercy."
Ren looked down at his fellow Persona user with a smile.
"You ok?"
"I'm fine. I've survived hits from stronger foes . Any clues to his weakness?"
Ren shook his head as the Belphegor was once again ready to fight.
"Not yet but I'm sure we can take him regardless."
The Shadow spoke.
'You have insulted our King and his castle with your presence for long enough! I will swallow you whole!"
Ann's shout caught the Shadow off guard.
"Leave my friends alone! CARMEN! AGI!"
A fireball slapped into the back of the Shadow's head.
"Graaghhh!"
In a somewhat comical fashion, the Shadow and it's toilet throne crashed to the ground.
Ren shouted to Ann as he and Morgana raced forward to finish the Shadow off.
"Ann! Join in!"
The blonde nodded as the three of them ripped through the groggy monster with rapid devastating attacks. The beast released one final statement as it crumbled into ash.
"To think...there would be a woman...who could stand up to King Kamoshida..."
Ann spat out her response.
"Pfft, outside of school that guy is nothing but a pathetic loser."
Princess Ann slowly stood to her feet.
"You fool. Standing with those thieves will prove nothing. You should know your place and-"
WHUPISHH!
Ann's whip ripped into the female Shadow's body with venomous intent, the Princess looked at the real Ann in genuine surprise as she faded away into nothingness.
"I'm tired of hearing you spout Kamoshida's lies."
Kasumi folded her arms in genuine respect.
"Wow Ann-senpai you just kicked some serious ass!"
Ann blushed.
"Uh...thanks, I guess?"
Sumire continued.
"Your costume is also nice...if not a bit revealing..."
Ann looked down.
"My...costume?...EEEP!"
The girl now dressed in red leather went down on one knee as she covered her exposed bosom.
"What am I wearing?! You guys better not be looking!"
Strangely enough all three males had their gazes set elsewhere.
Ren had suddenly found the ceiling very interesting, Morgana was inspecting his sword for any dents and Ryuji was too busy rubbing his newly bruised ribs to notice anything else.
Kasumi and Sumire monitored all three males closely as Ann found the willpower and strength to stop covering herself. The newest Persona user still had a small blush on her face.
"If I catch any of you boys looking I'll whip you into next week! That includes you Morgana!"
Ren spoke softly.
"That's kinda kinky..."
Ann's eyes twitched.
"What was that?!"
Ren walked away as the other males followed close behind.
"Nothing! Let's get back to the safe room."
Ren presented Ann with a Yogurt cup as she took a seat.
"Here. This will allow you to regain some of your strength. You feel completely drained, right?"
Ann nodded as she accepted the food.
"Yea. This is the backlash from awakening Carmen?"
"Yup. How are you doing otherwise? I know that Shadow...said some things..."
Ann placed her hand on top of Ren's.
"It's fine but thanks again for what you said in there, you really helped. Awakening my Persona has revealed a lot of things to me, even things about myself that I shouldn't have ignored. I want us to stop Kamoshida, Ren. We have to stop him for everyone's sake."
Ren nodded as he gently squeezed her hand.
"We will do everything in our power. You have my word."
Sumire watched the scene for a few more seconds before looking away.
Kasumi sighed at her sister's actions.
"Come on Sumi, you met the guy first! Don't let Ann-senpai just come and steal him away!"
Ryuji who was a bit oblivious to some of the things happening in the room spoke up.
"I don't know about you guys but I think I've seen enough for today. We should have enough information to find people who will be willing to testify against Kamoshida."
Ren responded.
"Perhaps you're right but we should still leaving the castle anyways. Even if Ann feels better now she won't be strong to carry on while we continue investigating."
Morgana nodded.
"I agree. Let's put a pause on this for now."
Ren frowned as the group walked towards the castle's main lobby.
This was not the route that they had originally taken but on their way back from the Training Hall they had discovered that several of the doors were now locked.
The only path that remained accessible was one leading them to the large room at the entrance of Kamoshida's Palace.
Morgana's nose twitched as he surveyed their surroundings.
"We haven't seen a Shadow in a while. You think they're setting up an ambush ahead?"
Sumire bit her lip.
"More than likely...do you think we can break through if it is or should we find another way around?"
Kasumi disagreed.
"They wouldn't leave another path accessible to us, this is a trap we have to spring and force our way through."
Ryuji grit his teeth.
"Who do these bastards think they are? Ann, any chance you'll be able to help?"
The young woman shook her head.
"I'm using all my energy to just walk right now, if I tried to fight I'd probably get into their way or worse get myself killed."
Ren spoke again as the team cautiously entered the suspiciously empty lobby.
"It's fine. Morgana and I just need you to watch our backs and run back to a safe room if we tell you."
It wasn't until the group found themselves in the dead centre of the lobby that their enemy revealed themselves.
"So it's you knaves again. You're the ones disturbing the peace of my castle."
Several Knights burst into existence around the team as a man descended the stairs.
Ann's eyes narrowed.
"Kamoshida!"
The King titled his head in curiosity.
"Princess? No, you must be that impostor my guards were telling me about. My Ann is so much prettier."
The blonde retorted.
"She's a pretty pile of ashes now."
Shadow Kamoshida didn't seem to be troubled her statement.
"Is that so? I guess I'll have to take you and those lovely twins as compensation for my losses."
Ren pulled out his dagger as the Knights lifted their shields.
"I won't let that happen."
The amber eyed King growled at the Persona user.
"You! Don't think I've forgotten how you threatened me in my own castle! I'll have you tortured and executed!"
Morgana pulled out his sword.
"You'll have to catch us first you arrogant cockroach!"
Ryuji stepped forward.
"We have evidence now, Kamoshida! We have the names of almost every prisoner in here! We're going to get them to testify against you, you sick pervert!"
Kamoshida rolled his eyes.
"After all this time you really don't get it do you Sakamoto? This is MY CASTLE! I do what I want when I want. There is not one slave here who doesn't comprehend that. It's only you and your stupid friends who seem to have a hard time getting it. "
The angry blond barked out his response.
"We would never accept a shitty King like you. You're going down!"
Kamoshida's expression became smug.
"It seems it's true when they say that 'barking dogs seldom bite'. How far the star runner of the track team has fallen."
Ryuji grit his teeth.
"What the hell are you talking about?"
"I speak of the Track Traitor who acted in violence and ended his teammates' dreams. Oh I can only imagine the pain of the others who were dragged under with your...selfish act."
Kasumi furrowed her brows.
"Violence? Ryuji-senpai?"
The Shadow King chuckled.
"What a surprise. So you're all accompanying him without knowing anything at all? He betrayed his teammates and crushed their hopes, yet still carries on as carefree as ever."
Ryuji withered.
"That's... that's not true!"
Kamoshida continued.
"What a tragedy. You all blindly trusted this fool and now he will be the cause of your deaths!"
The Monarch turned to his gaze to his royal guards.
"Dispose of them! I can no longer stand their stench!"
The Guard Captain and several other Knights burst into their Shadow forms as they closed in on the group of intruders.
Morgana shook his head as he started cutting through the throng.
"Ngh. They have us surrounded!"
Ren was as quick and powerful as a lightning strike. Weaving around groups of Shadows and not leaving any alive long enough to muster any type of resistance.
"Just keep at it until we find an opening!"
Kamoshida laughed uproariously as he watched the pair fight.
"It will all be useless in the end! You won't ever escape much less stop me! You're almost as foolish as that ape Sakamoto!"
Ryuji responded vehemently.
"Fuck off you disgusting scumbag!"
The King Shadow frowned.
"What a piece of trash, getting emotional so quickly. How dare you raise your hand at me? Even though it was only temporary, have you forgotten my kindness in supervising track practice?"
Ryuji fired back.
"That wasn't practice! That was physical abuse! You just didn't like our team!"
Kamoshida didn't disagree.
"It was nothing but an eyesore! The only one who should achieve results is me! The coach that got fired was hopeless too...If he had not opposed me with a sound argument, I would have settled for only breaking his star runner's leg."
Ryuji's hands trembled.
"What...what...did you say?"
Ann growled.
"You monster."
The King continued.
"Would you like me to break your other leg too? The school will definitely regard it as another case of self defence!"
Morgana sliced through another enemy and was quick enough to repel a sneak attack coming from his left. He was fully focused on the battle but he heard Kamoshida's words.
"So that's why...what a tyrant. We'll stop him Ryuji, I swear it to you."
Kasumi's expression softened.
"So that's what Ryuji-senpai meant...the school really is covering for him."
Sumire shook her head.
"We...we have to stop this."
Ryuji spoke up as he narrowed his eyes at Kamoshida.
"Because of you...because of you I can't run anymore! And the track team is gone! You've taken it all away from me!"
"Just wait. Soon you'll see everyone around you suffer greatly...simply because they decided to side with trash like you!"
Ren spoke next, his words and ire aimed directly at the Palace's ruler.
"Shut up you imbecile!"
Kamoshida exploded with fury.
"KILL HIM! THE ONE WITH THE WHITE MASK!"
Ren disposed of the Shadows closest to him with a singular attack.
"Raoul. Maeigaon!"
The Persona user faced Ryuji with a gentle smirk as the Shadows turned to ash around him.
"Don't believe his lies, Ryuji. You're more than that! You're stronger than that! We all know it and you need to know it too! You don't have to take this bull-crap from him or anyone else."
Ryuji grinned.
"You're right...Thank you."
The former track-star turned his attention to the still seething King.
"You hear that you asshole! I won't accept your lies anymore and I'm not gonna allow this madness to go on! I'm sick of you looking down on me!"
A voice pierced the halls of Ryuji's mind. He fell to his knees as the colour of his eyes changed to amber.
"You made me wait quite a while."
Ryuji screamed in pain as the voice continued. Ren had signalled the girls to stay back as the blond rolled on the floor.
"You seek power, correct? Then let us form a pact. Since your name has been disgraced already, why not hoist the flag and wreak havoc...? The 'other you' who exists within desires it thus...I am thou, thou art I...There is no turning back...The skull of rebellion is your flag henceforth!"
The mask of rebellion formed itself on Ryuji's face. Kamoshida groaned.
"Another one?! Damnit! Kill them all!"
Ryuji grabbed the mask with both hands as another wave of Shadows rushed the group.
"Blast them away... Captain Kidd!"
The entire group breathed a sigh of relief as they exited the Metaverse.
Kasumi was the first to speak.
"Whoa...that was really intense."
Ryuji grunted.
"You're telling me? I feel like I just ran back to back marathons."
Ann sighed.
"I know the feeling...I just wanna go home and take a very long shower."
Sumire nodded as she turned to Ren.
"I'm glad we escaped but what about Morgana?"
Morgana's voice could be heard clearly as he joined the group.
"After Ryuji awakened his Persona, the King almost went crazy there was no way I was gonna stay and face that alone...why is everyone looking at me like that?"
Ryuji blinked.
"You're a cat."
The black feline blushed.
"I...uh...this is just the form I took when I came over to this world! Once I retain my true form you'll all see that I'm a human! Really!"
Kasumi titled her head.
"Uh huh."
Ann continued.
"Well until that happens, shouldn't one of us keep him? I wouldn't feel good with him on the streets."
Morgana smiled.
"I nominate you Lady Ann."
The blond beauty smiled sheepishly.
"Sorry. My apartment doesn't allow pets...I mean cats or any other animals."
Ryuji spoke next.
"I just don't got no space."
Kasumi shook her head.
"Our Mom says we're not allowed to have animals in the house after the...'Flying Hamster' saga."
The entire group turned their attention to the mostly identical twins.
Sumire blushed.
"Please don't stare at us like that."
Ryuji whispered to Ren.
"Dude! We've gotta hear that story!"
Ren smirked before nodding.
"Alright. I guess it's up to me then. Is that okay Morgana?"
The cat did the equivalent of a shrug.
"I guess beggars can't be choosers. I hope you got food, cause I'm starving."
Ren knelt down and opened his school bag.
"I'm sure we can work out something. Here. Hop in."
Sojiro placed a plate of hot food in front of the excited Morgana.
"Does he have a name?"
Ren smiled.
"Yea Morgana."
Sojiro pouted.
"Aw, I wanted to name him. Morgana isn't bad though..."
"What were you thinking?"
"Something nice like Raphael."
Morgana made a sound that conveyed his deep disapproval. The coffee shop owner shrugged.
"Tough crowd. Remember he's your responsibility and don't allow him into the shop while it's open. Keep him out of the pantry and other supplies too."
Ren nodded.
"Sure. Thanks again Boss."
The older man pat Morgana on the head before going down the stairs.
"Yea yea, I'm gonna lock up. Have a good night."
Both Persona users allowed a few minutes to pass as Sojiro closed the shop and locked the door behind him.
The black feline was the first to talk.
"Boss seems like a nice person."
Ren agreed.
"He's a great guy just a little rough around the edges at times."
Morgana stretched before finding a comfortable spot on Ren's bed.
"I'm not sure about this plan that you guys have about finding someone willing to testify against Kamoshida."
Ren's face remained neutral but his inner self chuckled.
"Just as expected."
"I also had my doubts but I'm not sure of what else could be done. Do you have any suggestions?"
The cat nodded.
"Just one. But it may be a bit dangerous and I've never tried it before."
"Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Let's hear about it."
Morgana continued.
"We'd make Kamoshida have a change of heart."
Shujin Academy (Lunch Time)
Ryuji sighed in frustration as he took a seat on the school's rooftop. Ann, Kasumi and Sumire was also present.
"Man, I didn't think this would be simple but I didn't know it'd be this hard either. No one wants to tell us anything!"
Sumire pulled a pack of sweet biscuits out of her bag and was beginning to pass out a few.
"Even the freshmen that just joined the volleyball team are hesitant. They're all so scared of Kamoshida."
Kasumi took a bite out of the treat that her sister had given to her.
"...It gets worse, I think some of them have told Kamoshida that we've been asking around."
Ann accepted the biscuit with a small word of thanks before continuing.
"Yeah, I noticed some of his fan club giving me the stink eye. Well more of them than the set that usually do it anyways..."
Ryuji finished his biscuit in two quick bites and was secretly hoping he could have a few more. He smiled thankfully as Sumire handed him a handful.
"...Think Ren's having any luck?"
Sumire posed a question.
"Who's he talking to?"
Ann answered.
"He volunteered to speak with one of our classmates. Mishima. Maybe he knows how to get through to him?"
Mishima trembled as Ren cornered him on one of the school's stairways.
A quick flash of an irritant expression was enough to chase away any bystanders and onlookers.
The blue haired student spoke as he lifted his hands to block any incoming attacks.
"Please don't destroy me like that biker gang!"
Ren sighed.
"Lower your arms, Mishima. We need to talk."
The male volleyball player cautiously lowered his hands.
"I didn't bring much money today but I have some really nice snacks from the store-"
"I don't want your snacks. I have a question."
"W-w-what is it?"
"Are you really going to stand by and watch all this happen?"
"Huh?"
"Kamoshida. His treatment of you and the other students here."
"So the rumours are true. You and Sakamoto are targeting Kamoshida-sensei..."
"Answer me."
"Listen there's a lot that you don't know-"
"I know everything Mishima. The abuse. The way everyone covers it up. The way he elects one of you to beat up when he's in a bad mood. Everything. What I want to know is if you know everything?"
Mishima was a bit confused.
"What's that supposed to even mean?"
"Do you know what Kamoshida does to some of the female team members... especially when he has a bad day? And I'm not talking about just physical abuse."
Mishima's eyes widened.
"No...you can't mean."
Ren stepped closer to his classmate.
"Imagine Mishima. If you had a girl on that team that you cared about, a classmate, a friend, even a sister. Would you want them to be locked up in that P.E. faculty office with that monster?"
Mishima struggled to find the right words as his mind conjured the image of a female that hedid care specially for.
"I...I..."
Ren stepped back.
"Think about it. I slipped my phone number into your bag. Call me when you've made up your mind."
As Ren walked away he had hoped to inspire the gentle young man to take the initiative and help them prepare the stage for stealing Kamoshida's heart.
Ren had no idea of how different this timeline truly was and how it would respond to his actions...
No idea at all.
