A/N: Shorter chapter, but nonetheless important.
"Letter from the palace," Kakashi greeted as he touched down in the meeting place with Rin. Instead of his usual pleasant smile, something in his face looked tense, pinched, and he glanced around before handing it to Rin. "Please give that to Ayame the next time you see her."
"Is everything alright?" The brunette questioned, slipping the letter into her coat pocket. "You… did something happen?"
"All day, I've felt distinctly off," he explained, casting another glance around the area before leaning in and lowering his voice. "I've felt like I've been watched all day. And earlier, just before I left the palace, I saw someone. Someone with…" he gestured to his hidden eye.
Rin's own eyes widened in horror. "Y- you don't think…?!"
He didn't answer for a moment. His eye was itching again, yet he couldn't relieve it. Rin's eyes, so full of worry, bothered him. He hated that he couldn't assuage her fears. He hated that he couldn't deal with his own.
"You'd best be careful regardless," he finally warned, pulling her in for a tight hug. "I don't want you to get caught."
"Yes, that's definitely a good idea," she agreed hastily. "I'll have to let her know to move camp again."
Kakashi nodded, and his visible eye softened as he brushed hair out of her face.
The two shared a long, silent look before he stepped away.
"Be safe," he murmured, before disappearing in a cloud of smoke.
Turning away, Rin smiled to herself. "Don't worry, I will."
Tsunade accepted the letter eagerly, and upon pulling it open and scanning it, her smile immediately faded.
"Any good news at all?" Rin asked, folding her hands together.
"Nothing but premonition," she sighed harshly as she set it down on the table. "You were right when you mentioned moving again. We'll need to be wary from here out."
"How soon?"
"Right away, so we don't hinder the group going out tonight," she replied as she stood up from her bedroll. Her eyes were troubled, her lips pressed into a grim line.
Rin waited, yet she didn't speak further. With a bow, she turned and left the tent, Kakashi's words echoing ominously in her mind.
Glancing up at the sky, she sighed. "We've only got eight hours. Is that enough time?"
A/N: Please tell me what you thought.
