A/N: You finally get to see what happened to Deidara and Hidan, as well as meet another unlikely companion.
AKA, the scenes I never showed you in the original book.
The castle dungeons were dark, chilly, and damp. No sunlight made its way into the depths.
Deidara grunted as he was thrown into a cell, the dingy stone digging into his back.
In the cell next to his, Hidan snarled, "Fuck!" as he received the same treatment. The woman with him just lay there on the cold stone, her face totally blank.
"Know your place, traitor scum," the guard snapped as he leveled them with a glare. "We'll take you both in to see what you know later. For now, sit there and say your prayers to whatever god you believe in."
"Jashin-sama will get his revenge on you bastards," Hidan swore, grabbing the bars as best he could with his cuffed hands. "He won't forgive a sin like this!"
"Shut up, inmate!" Another guard barked. "Or you'll be the first to go!"
The guard stalked off, leaving them all alone.
Deidara huffed, tugging fruitlessly at the chakra-sealing collar around his neck before he looked around the cell.
His eyes landed on another woman in with him, and he raised an eyebrow at her. She was decently attractive, with long, mussed crimson hair and dirt-smudged, tanned skin. Her brown eyes blinked, staring back at him.
"Hey," she spoke, her voice gravelly from disuse. "Guess you got unlucky, huh?"
"That's an understatement, yeah." He grunted, sitting down on the empty cot with a heavy sigh. "I wonder if our troop is looking for us… I know Sasori-danna is gonna be pissed."
"Tell me about it," she laughed sarcastically. "I'm in for smuggling across the border, you?"
He stared at her blankly for a moment.
"We're all inmates here," she shrugged. "I'm not gonna judge ya. If you're a rapist or something, well, you wouldn't be here right now, right?"
"Nothing that depraved." He shook his head. "I doubt even Hidan would be into that."
"Fuck that, I can get my thrills in other ways." The silver-haired man agreed with a disgusted tone.
"You think Sasori-danna would murder me if I spilled?"
"That buzzkill would get pissy anyway, doesn't fuckin' matter."
"Ah, you're right, yeah." He nodded, before turning to the woman. "We're a part of Akatsuki."
"Whoa." Her eyes widened, and she nodded, impressed. "My father worked for Akatsuki for a while. Is Pein-sama still head honcho?"
"Yeah."
"Yeah, cool guy. Mad respect." She nodded once more before smiling, sticking out her hand. "Chinen Akari."
"Deidara." He took it, shaking firmly.
Akari startled at the feeling of his mouth hands, pulling back and staring at his open palm in surprise. "Wha-"
"It's a… forbidden technique," his face flushed red in embarrassment and he looked away. "I can't exactly stop it."
"No, no, that's… cool, actually." She grabbed his wrist and studied his hand as the mouth opened and closed, grinning at her. "Can you control the mouths' movements, or is it totally automatic?"
"Autonomous," he replied, staring at her. "You think it's cool?"
"It's fuckin' rad," she nodded with a grin. "I've never seen something like this before!"
"Ugh, this fucking sucks," Hidan suddenly grumbled, catching their attention. "Why do I have to be stuck in here with this invalid?"
Deidara suddenly remembered. "Oh, right. I forgot about Miya."
"What's she in for?" Akari raised an eyebrow, looking over at the young woman, now curled into a silent ball.
"She was with us for a while. Her faction was ambushed and she was the only survivor." He leaned in to whisper in her ear, "She's got severe PTSD. I doubt they're gonna get anything from her after this."
"Poor girl," she mused with a shake of her head. "Jail's not gonna serve her well."
"I hope we can get out of here soon." The blond shook his hair out of his face.
"Yeah." The redhead sagged against the wall. "I've been in for about a month, I think. At least they feed us."
Deidara didn't know how many hours had passed since they were thrown in the dungeons. Akari had proven to be a better conversational partner than he'd first thought, and they'd spent a long time talking about things.
He only realized what time it was when the guards came back, wheeling in a covered tray.
"Inmates!" The buff man barked. "Stand at attention!"
Akari nudged Deidara and pulled him to stand.
One of them banged on Hidan's cell. "INMATE! I said STAND!"
All eyes went to the curled-up young woman still on the floor.
"Hurry up, bitch!" Hidan hissed at her. "I know you can still hear!"
Miya didn't respond. Her breathing didn't even change.
One of the guards groaned irritably. "Another one?"
"She'll have to be the first to crack," another sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "We'll deal with her later. For now we need to hand out rations."
Akari sent the girl a sympathetic glance as two trays were pushed through the slat on the bottom of the barred door.
A/N: Please tell me what you thought.
