Howdy, Luka here.

Still new to the whole writing so don't get your hopes up, still I would appreciate some feed back.

Oh and heads up, this starts waaaaay back before the anime/manga, like pre-civil war back.

Well without further ado,

Unto the story!

Prologue

The Underworld, Undisclosed Training Ground

Beads of sweat poured down the pale face of a young devil as he concentrated on his task before him.

The boy was young, around 7 years old. His skin is pale from the lack natural sunlight in the underworld, his purple hair framed is face. Bright gold eyes squeezed shut as he tried to channel his family's magic once more.

Several boulders of varying sizes, but no larger than his own head began to slowly levitate around him. He held this position for what felt like an eternity to the young boy before they dropped, and he fell down to his knees, covered in sweat and left panting for air.

An old man dressed up in a butler suit stepped into the training grounds from nearby and handed the poor child a towel to clean himself before addressing the young man,

"You're improving Silas, you held on longer than you normally would,"

"You think so Gideon? I feel like I haven't been improving at a all,"

Gideon, the butler, chuckled at his young charge's reply,

"You have only begun your training recently, have patience Silas, it took your Father thousands of years to get to where he is now,"

The young child only hummed in reply before getting up from he position and reentering his stance to begin his exercises again.

"I'm afraid we'll have to stop here Silas, Lord Shax wishes to see you after you've made yourself presentable," interrupted the butler.

"Did Father tell you why he wishes to see me?"

"I'm afraid not, only mentioning that it is important,"

knowing that was all he getting from his caretaker Silas nodded his head before making his way out of his family's training grounds and to make himself presentable for what ever his Father wanted from him.

Shax Family Manor

Silas made his way through the halls of his family's manor, classic devil pride had banners of the family's pentagrams draped all over the walls, which he had found odd. The Shax had never been a family pride or rather wasn't always pride, their family's power over the earth wasn't as strong as other family's powers.

Instead the pride of the Shax family came from their immense influence over the Underworld's economy as a result of their family's original sin of Greed.

The lands of Shax were filled with valley's of vast mountains filled with ore, both magical and mundane. Giving them a monopoly over the underworld's mining industry and making them an economical giant, paired with his Great Grandfather's sense for business and money in general made his family very veery rich.

He was taken out of his thoughts as he reached his Father's office, and 2 other voices coming from within.

He quirked up an eyebrow, his Father's voice he recognised immediately, but the others were unfamiliar.

Rapping his knuckles against the door, "Father, may I come in?" He called out.

"You may enter Silas,"

Opening the door he saw three people,

The first was his Father, An old man with purple hair lighter than his, with streaks of grey hair running through, dull golden eyes, and a goatee. He was sat at his desk.

In front of him was another man, with natural grey hair, and an imposing figure. He was sitting in front of my father and was turned towards me.

The last was a young girl around my age, her hair was long, and just like her hair, her eyes were silver too. She was clad in a simple black dress, and stood silently to what I guess was her father.

"Welcome Silas, this is an old friend of mine, Lord Lucifuge and His Daughter Grayfia."

His eyes widened at the reveal, the Lucifuge were the current leaders of the Underworld after the death of the original Satans

They were basically Underworld royalty, and two of them were here!

Lord Lucifuge smiled at him,

"Greetings Silas, Your father has told me great things about you. This is my daughter Grayfia, I was hoping you two would get the chance to talk while I have business with your father,"

His hand motioned to the young girl at his side, who hid slightly behind her Father's back.

"Don't mind her, the girl's just shy. This is the first time she's talked to anyone outside the family or her little dolls,"

"Father!"

Grayfia was mortified at her father's words, her face turned an impressive shade of red in embarrassment.

Chuckling at her reaction her father gestured her towards Silas,

"Go on, show her around, I'll call for her when it's time to go," He said. gently pushing his daughter towards me.

Meekly nodding her head, she moved her way towards me.

"I can show you around the manor, plus I've got a few cool things I can show you," he grin at her,

nodding her head show follows him around as he show her around the manor, noting her silence throughout the tour he cuts it early and decides to skip straight to the good part.

"Hey Grayfia, have you started on your magic training yet?"

The young girl, who had been silent before perks up and her eyes brighten considerably.

"Mhm! Father says I'm going to be really strong one day!" She beams with that classical devil pride that their race is known for.

"Wanna check out the training grounds? We can show each other what we can do!"

Though he would never admit it, Silas found an excited Grayfia, was a cut Grayfia.

Shax Family Training Grounds

Making their way to the training grounds was easy, the young Lucifuge Heir had a skip in her step as she easily matched Silas' pace as they walked through the halls of the manor to their destination.

Upon their arrival they made their way to the middle of the training grounds where Silas turned on the balls of his feet and faced Grayfia,

"So, how far have you gotten in your training?"

"I can show you," The girl grins before faltering,

"Uhm, I don't have anything to practice on though,"

"Don't worry about that,"

Silas smirks before lifting his right leg and stomping down, a large pillar of stone then erupts from the earth in front of him.

Grayfia smiles at the display before flaring her own magic up, her hands were set alight with cackling red energy.

She channeled the energy along her right arm before letting a blast that shattered the large stone formation.

"How was that?"

"Hm, not bad but let's see how you hit a moving target!"

Silas brought both his hands up and several boulders around the size of his head were launched into the air,

wasting no time replying Grayfia brought her right arm up again and fired faster, but weaker bolts of energy.

The red lances of ether soared through the air before they crashed into the falling rocks.

"Ha! Got them!" The silver haired girl grins triumphantly as she turned to the purple haired heir.

Silas shook his head before crossing his arms, "Not all of them." He grins as a last, unseen boulder falls behind her.

She pouted at his smirk, "Alright fine, do it again. I'll get them all for real!"

The two repeated their little game, both Heirs made it their mission to prove who was superior in friendly competition, which was stopped when both of them fell down to the ground. Sweat pouring down their faces as they gasped for breath, both showing symptoms of magical exhaustion.

"I think I won that last round," said Silas through gasps of air

"What do you mean? I destroyed all of them!"

Grayfia lifted her head up to face the Shax heir before seeing his grinning face, she resumed pouting then.

"Stop teasing me!" Cried out an indignant Grayfia,

"Then stop reacting to them," countered a smug Silas.

Their banter continued back and forth before Silas popped a question,

"Hey wanna see something cool?" He asked

"Hm? Sure, is it more rocks?"

"Nah, that's Father's magic. I'll show you something I made on my own."

The young heir quickly jumped up to his feet and lent a hand to the still grounded girl,

She blushed, but still accepted the outstretched hand.

"I can get up on my own you know," She said softly

"I know," Grinned the ever smug Shax Heir.

The girl was about to retort when the boy took off, still holding her hand.

They stopped by the racks of training weaponry on the wall of the training grounds, next to a rack of wooden training spears and swords sat an old battered suit of armour.

"Watch this!" Silas grinned as he closed his eyes and outstretched both his arms towards the suit, ignoring the curious looks of Grayfia as he intoned a short incantation,

"Eirich"

A purple pentagon lit up beneath the seated position of the armour as intricate runes and pentagrams lit up inside and on the suit, a golden glow escaped from the visor of its armoured helm.

At first it was subtle and hard to see unless one was actively looking for it, but the fingers of the gauntlet started to twitch, before grasping at empty air.

Grayfia slowly widened her eyes as they once still and empty armour slowly came to life.

Its movements were stiff and awkward at first, but as the spell coursed its way through the suit its movements became moire natural and lifelike.

The two heirs took a step back as the once still suit of armour stood up on two legs, easily towering the two at 6 feet. A soft golden glow emanating from its visor as it faced its master and his friend.

Silas' grin was wide as he presented his new friend to an old project he had been working on for months.

"Grayfia meet Stahl, Stahl meet Grayfia!"

The girl was taken out of her surprise as the suit of armour waved at her like a living being would, nodding her head before turning to Silas.

"Is he... alive?"

"I haven't gotten that far yet, right now he only does as he's told and doesn't have any conscious of his own. Though he can't do magic but he's pretty strong, look at this!"

Silas summoned another pillar in front of Stahl, the Knight in question took a great sword off one of the racks of training weapons and took on a stance, lifting the blade over his head he swung the blade downwards with immense strength. Cleaving the boulder cleanly in two, even with a wooden sword!

"I get that he isn't all that impressive now, but once I learn how channel my magic through better materials than mundane iron imagine the things i can make, what I could do!"

The young heir proceeded to shower Grayfia in endless ideas, and the intricate sciences behind them, getting more and more excited in the process

sighed in exasperation, not that she would admit it to anyone, but he was kinda cute when he was needing out.

Before Silas could be dragged any deeper into the rabbit hole he spiralling into Gideon had entered the training grounds.

"Lady Grayfia, Master Silas. I'm afraid your time together has come to an end, Lord Lucifuge and Lord Shax have finished conducting their business, and it's time for Lady Grayfia to leave,"

The two heirs looked rather downcast now that their fun had come to an end,

"Come on, you heard the butler. I'll see you off." Silas finished with a smile, cheering up the girl a small bit.

Shax Family Manor

The two Heirs met their father's at the entrance at entrance to the family estate,

"By the Mou, Grayfia, your clothes are filthy! What in Lucifer's name have you two been up to?"

Saving the girl from answering herself, Silas answered Lord Lucifuge himself.

"That would be my doing, sir. I had shown Grayfia the family's training grounds and we may have gotten a little carried away," The Shax Heir at least had the decency to look sheepish.

Seeing his son's distress Lord Shax must've seen fit to come to the boy's aide, speaking to the Lord himself

"Let the two have their fun, besides from what Gideon had observed the two seemed to have gotten along splendidly,"

"Eh!? Gideon was watching us?" came the surprised call of the Shax Heir.

Lord Shax was about to reply to his son when Lord Lucifuge called out to the group,

"While our time here has been nothing short of delightful, I'm afraid to say that we must be going now,"

At his words the silver haired girl seemed to slump her shoulders, Lord Shax no so subtly pushed his son forwards to say something.

"So... Grayfia, I had lots of fun today. Maybe we could do again someday else?" His tone trailed off in the end, trying not to sound too hopeful.

"Eh? You want to have me back? Really!?"

Taken aback by the girl's outburst he he chuckled and scratched the back of his neck,

"Uhm yeah, we're friends right?"

The girl was oddly silent at the mention of friends, her head slightly tilted down at angle that Silas couldn't see her face, worrying the boy if he had done something wrong.

However, his worries were proven unfounded when the girl looked back up with a bright and wide smile,

"Yeah friends..."

Their moment together was ruined when Lord Lucifuge interrupted again.

"As touching as this is, you're mother would be furious if we're late Grayfia, we should be going now,"

Nodding her head at her Fathers words, she waved the Shax pair goodbye as they were engulfed in a bright red light, teleporting them to parts unknown.

The pair were quiet for a bit, until the Father looked at his son with a knowing smirk,

"Have fun with your new friend, Silas?"

"Mhm, she's really strong as well!"

Lord Shax smiled with amusement as his son continued to recount tales of the two heirs' time together.

"Well you should be able to meet with Grayfia very often from now on," He decided to reveal,

"Huh? How?"

"While the two of you had your grand adventures Lord Lucifuge and I talked details about a trade deal that will not just benefit our clans, but the entire underworld as well,"

The young heir nodded along before cocking his head sideways in confusion,

"Wait, why are you telling me this though, don't you usually deal with negotiations?"

"Not forever Silas, you will one day take over the position of Lord and then this responsibility will fall unto your shoulders," he chided lightly before continuing

"And today marks the start of your studies as well, Gideon has informed of your satisfactory progress with our clan's trait. Now it is time for your real responsibility as heir to House Shax, tomorrow I will be personally tutoring you on the finer intricacies of economics and negotiations so that you will one day be prepared for your future role as Lord,"

Silas widened his eyes at the revelation, and the sudden weight of his new duties. Yet he did not waver, onky adopting a determined expression across his face as he looked at his Father with a passionate fire in his eyes,

"I won't let you down Father!

Lord Shax could only beam with pride at his son's determination.

Shax Family Manor

8 Years Later

Silas could only silently curse his 7 year old self's determination to make his Father proud. He let his head fall on his desk with a thud as he glared lazily at the thick book on economics in front of him.

Silas let out a long suffering sigh as he leaned back and looked around in boredom.

He was in his own personal study and makeshift workshop that was granted to him only 2 years ago. The room's eastern wall was had shelves of books about various things: theories on advanced magical runes, the basics to a functioning economy, a masters guide to black smithing, and advanced magical theories to metallurgy.

The back of the room and it's western wall were his workbench and tools among other things, currently his workbench was home to a suit of armour.

Silas smiled fondly at the memory of Stahl, it had been a few months since the suit of armour had been awakened and he had promised to get his first friend a better suit of armour and the possibility of voicing his own thoughts once he improved his own ability in magic.

The new suit of armour was cleaner and studier than Stahl's previous one, made from the finest metals from his family's mines. The armour itself was full plate with a helmet that had a T-shaped visor and a striking red plume, it was enchanted so that no one could see inside, not that there was anything to see in the first place.

A sudden authoritative voice interrupted his line of thought that made his spine shiver,

"Giving up already Silas?" the deep voice of his father sent warning signals throughout his mind.

"Ah... I was just taking a quick break Father,"

His Father continued to stare at him with a hard face, until he relaxed and laughed softly at his son's expense.

Realising he wasn't in any trouble, Silas was quick to try and regain some composure by straightening his back and turning to face his Father completely.

"Did you need anything Father?"

"You're studies have come along nicely Silas, and I'm proud of your progress so far,"

Silas not subtly beamed under his Father's praise until he spoke up once more,

"However, it has come to my attention that I have been rather lax with your training in our clan's trait, Gideon has said you have come far but I have yet to see the results myself and I wish to rectify that."

Silas perked up at the mention that he would be personally training with his Father,

"Wait, really!?"

His Father nodded in confirmation, making Silas quickly jump up with excitement.

"I will be at the training grounds in an hour, will have that long to get ready,"

His final word spoken, Lord Shax exited the room.

Watching the retreating figure of his Father's back, Silas turned to his desk and opened the drawer, revealing two metal gauntlets and a pair of grieves enchanted with various rune and magical pentagrams.

With a smirk he turned to the suit of armour that laid on his workbench,

"Eirich"

Like all those years before, when Stahl had first awaked, the numerous runes on the suit of armour glowed gold. The fingers twitched lightly at first, before they clenched with such strength the metal lightly groaned, the once inanimate suit rose from its position before bowing before it's one and only lord.

Unlike the times it was summed before, they looked up and addressed it's master with two golden glowing eyes that burned intensely with loyalty, and for the first time ever, they spoke.

"My Lord,"

They spoke his title with such reverence it slightly concerned him, but he swallowed his trepidation and addressed his knight,

"Rise, Stahl. It's time to prove ourselves,"

Shax Family Training Ground

Lords Shax raised an eyebrow at the two of them as they entered the arena, his Son was accompanied by a suit of armour he saw lying at the bench of his Son's study. It couldn't be a servant of theirs either, none of them had that build.

His curiosity turned it surprise, then pride. The armour wasn't inhabited at all, if his senses wren't deceiving him and the lack of any presence in the armour was true, then his son had truly surprised him this time. This must of been the grand project he was slaving over for the last few months, still time to see if his efforts were to bear any fruit.

"I hope you don't mind my friend Father, I found it fitting that he should prove his skills alongside mine," His son called out.

His Son was clad in his usual attire which consisted of black slack pants, a red blazer, and a dark grey vest with a black tie. Over his hands and legs were enchanted gauntlets and grieves he wore to help channel his magic.

"Very well; however, you are still too young if you think I am cowed by mere numbers,"

His son had no reply to his provocation, instead he smashed his two fist together and smirked at his Father.

He huffed at the action and said only one word:

"Begin!"

As soon as the words left his lips he brought lances of hard rock from the earth beneath them, and launched them at his son, a resounding boom following the process.

Lightly widening his eyes at the sudden attack he stepped back and stomped his right foot down onto the ground,

"Schild!"

At his command a thick wall of steel came forth from the ground and in front of him, shielding him from the lances of rock that shattered against the wall, but not without severely deforming the wall, a testament of his power as an ultimate class devil that survived the Great War.

Not wanting to be on the defensive Silas cocked his right fist back and channeled his magic into the enchantments of his gauntlets with glowed gold, the armoured fist then shot forwards smashing into the steel wall, and shattering it.

"Schrapnell!"

The scattered remnants of the wall were then launched towards his Father, becoming deadly pieces of shrapnel.

Following his master's attack Stahl followed suit coming into the Lord's flank with a large sword raised into a thrust at the man's throat.

Unperturbed by the duo's pincer attack the Lord responded in kind, sending large boulder towards the flying pieces of metal to intercept and counter them before raising a pillar of earth that smashed straight into the knight's gut from under him, halting his attack and launching him away.

Not faltering at the sight of his knight being knocked away like a rag doll, Silas activated another series of runes across his right gauntlet.

"Klinge!"

What followed was a short lived pitched screech as a part of the gauntlet extended into a blade above Silas' hand, using the blade he slashed at the incoming boulder and split it in two.

Without missing a beat he cocked his arm back again and punched forward, launching the extended blade from his gauntlet towards his Father.

Lord Shax merely caught the launched blade inches from his own face without a word and directed a bored expression towards his son's face,

"As if that would catch me off guard..." He trailed off in confusion, seeing the smirk on Silas' face

"Schlacke!"

The runes that ran along the length of the blade then activated, Lord Shax widened his eyes as the runes glowed bright and

BOOOM!

The ensuing explosion launched the Lord back, his face was lightly scuffed yet he was otherwise unharmed.

He stared at where he once was, the smokescreen from the explosion obscuring where his son and his knight was.

A slight disturbance in the smoke alerted him to the presence of Stahl as the knight rushed forwards in another attempt to stab at him,

Summoning a pillar from underneath the knight to knock him away-

"Not this time!"

Not being fooled twice, Stahl was prepared for the Lord's counter attack and used his off hand to launch himself off the summoned pillar and summersault him into a spin.

The knight raised his sword up high in an overhead slash and launched forth.

CLANG!

Lord Shax let out a grunt as het grasped the knight's blade with one hand

Continuing his assault, Stahl reached for the dagger behind his back and stabbed at the Lord's face, only for the dagger to be also caught with his other hand.

The two were locked in deadlock, and a contest of who was stronger when Silas' voice came from the lord's back.

"Forget about me?"

A long thin blade was held up against his Father's throat while he was holding back Stahl's blades.

"I yield," He sighed.

Stahl lowers and sheathes his blades, and Silas leans back and frowns.

"You held back," He accuses,

"The purpose of this spar was never to find which one of us was superior, but to gauge your progress. And what progress you have made!"

"Eh? Really?"

"Why yes! When Gideon told me our clan trait had mutated into power over metal instead of the earth I admit I was worried, but you Silas, have made outstanding progress! You have truly made me proud," He finishes with a smile.

Silas beamed under the praise his Father, who in turn ruffled the hair on his son's head.

Waving his Father's hands away from his hair, Silas looks at Stahl, who had been loyally standing aside from the pair since the battle ended.

"How do you like Stahl Father?"

"I've been meaning to ask, Is he a spirit inhabiting the suit, or something else?"

"Thats for me to know and you to find out," His son had the gall to wink at him,

Letting out an amused breath rather than being angry at his insubordination he gestured for the servants to clean the training grounds.

"Well I can't say he isn't strong," He shook his head before moving on to more serous matters.

"Silas, you are soon to be 16. I believe it is time for you to start assisting in me in my duties as lord, it would do well for you to gain some experience before you take over."

Silas slumped slightly at the mention of his Father's duties, usually that meant paperwork.

"In any case, we'll talk this over lunch." Lord Shax started walking out of the grounds, motioning for his Son to follow.

Silas may have won this spar, but as his Father had him swamp through stacks of paperwork it was clear to both who really won the battle.

FIN.
