Chapter 4: First Days at Camp
A/N: This will be in every chapter from now on, so you can ignore this first paragraph of the author note if you want. I would just like to thank those who read my story as this is the first one I am doing. I am quite nervous as writing is more of something I do to pass the time, so I am not the best. I try my best with grammar and spelling, so before I post a chapter, I put it through Grammarly, but even that is not perfect. A thing that I will say is that every chapter won't be the same length. The chapters will range from 3,000 words to possibly 6,000 words, but I will try to stay consistent with the lengths. I will state this in every chapter, but I am going to use information from every current Assassin's Creed game there is. I have never played Assassin's Creed personally, but I have watched others play the game on Youtube, so my information will most likely come from the Assassin's Creed Fandom Wiki.
Thanks for the reviews that you left for me; they are much appreciated. There was a review from parallaxyt: In regards to Percy having multiple wives, I don't think it'd be possible. His fatal flaw is loyalty, and that would prevent him from doing so. If you were to do so, however, I would recommend ONLY Artemis and Reyna. You'd have to write about hardships because neither of the two would take kindly to the other. Maybe in the process of these hardships, they too become close. Seeing Artemis is a goddess and probably bisexual, and Reyna, who is definitely bi, you can have the three in a relationship. I'd recommend reading combatwombat14;s 'loved' series to get a better idea. This story has potential, and I'd hate to see it ruined with a 'harem'. I have been thinking about this, and I agree with just having these two paired with Percy. At first, my idea was to include Kassandra from Assassin's Creed Odyssey. But, I have decided that she will be more of a mentor figure in this story as, in the games, she doesn't die until 2018. I might still have her die and pass her legacy onto someone else or even live on as a high-ranking member of the Order. I have thought of another fanfic where the pairing is Percy and Kassandra, though, not confirmed.
The next review was from DeadDredd: So is Perseus the mentor of the American Brotherhood or just another master assassin? The answer to this is found in the Assassin's Creed lore. During the 20th century, the entire Assassin Order was led under a single person with the title of Mentor. This individual was known only as "the Mentor" because his name and location were kept secret. He was assassinated in the year 2000, and "the Mentor" passed down his title to William Miles, the father of Desmond Miles. Or in my story, William Miles is related to Percy as his grandfather (will be further explained in the story), Desmond doesn't exist, and he had his family change their names. Percy inherited this position and is currently controlling the Assassin Order, and his name is known to other assassins as a form of trust.
I hope that I didn't give away too much information in answering your questions. If you want more information on the 'Mentor' title, then copy this URL: https/assassinscreed./wiki/Mentor.
For the review from the Guest Madame Enigma: Hey brainless, you do know that there's an A.C and P.J crossover section right? The answer to this is simple. In my opinion, by posting it in the normal PJO section, it would be seen by more people. Not everyone is going to look in the crossover section and pay more attention to the main section. I have read some pretty good crossover stories in the main section that is not in the crossover section. If people don't want to read my story because it is a crossover, they don't have to. Seriously, tons of the Percy joins Chaos fanfics have minor crossovers with Assassin's Creed, so just because mine is a full crossover, it matters. Also, why do you care where I post it? You could have also said this more politely instead of trying to insult me as well. I'm not one to care about this kind of thing, but I have seen authors quit writing because one comment like this started an entire train of haters that did nothing but insulting them. I have dealt with enough things in my life, and I don't need to see the same things here. Do you not read my story at all? I put at the end of every chapter that constructive criticism is welcome, not your insult to my intelligence.
"Beware the easy path. Knowledge only grows through challenge."
- William Miles
- Long Island - Camp Half-Blood -
It was a tiring day after they arrived at Camp Half-Blood and the twins already wanted to leave. Everywhere they went, they were looked at as if they were some kind of priceless treasures. Whispers of 'Children of the hero' 'Destined for greatness' and 'Princesses of the Sea' or even 'The unmatched beauties'-this one got on their nerves while also pissing off the children of Aphrodite-were heard everywhere they went. They were used to this though, even with their life, their father wanted them to have some kind of normality. Like every other teen their age, they went to high school, got their driver's license, except they were trained in every possible way to kill a person.
The only interaction they had outside of each other was when they were forced to take part as a requirement. Even then, they outclassed everyone in the camp, with very few being close to them in skill. The closest anyone ever came was older hunters, and of course, Artemis, but she was a goddess, so it didn't count. They were thinking about how they could escape all the drama surrounding them when some campers approached them. They realized that these campers were the immortal ones from the time their father was at camp.
The group consisted of the ones they were introduced to when they arrived here. From right to left, Annabeth Chase, Thalia Grace, Clarisse La Rue, Travis and Conner Stoll, Leo Valdez, Lou Ellen Blackstone, and Katie and Miranda Gardner. Zoë and Andromeda knew that this confrontation was inevitable, but they would rather have it if Reyna were with them as she would better handle them as she knew them, but like their father, fate seemed to be against them.
"Hello, Zoë, Andromeda. I know we were introduced to each other yesterday, but we would like to officially welcome you to Camp Half-Blood!" Annabeth said with a cheery smile, as did the others. The twins knew that this wasn't the main reason they were here, and they were never the ones to beat around the bush. "If you need an-"
"Cut to the chase," Zoë said, interrupting the girl's sentence. "We aren't idiots, Chase. If you have questions, then ask, but don't expect an answer." The immortals were taken aback by this. They thought that the girls would be like how Percy was at camp, always happy and cheerful.
Seeing how the others were still thinking, Thalia stepped up. "We were just wondering if you could tell us how Percy was or maybe if he is going to come to camp sometime?"
While seeing that she was sincere in her statement, they didn't know if they should answer directly or just give enough to satisfy them. "Our father is well, and we don't know when or even if he will visit this camp," Andromeda spoke.
This seemed to please them as they smiled, but Zoë and Andromeda were still on edge because of how the daughter of Athena was looking at them. She looked at them as if they were a big mystery -they wouldn't deny it- that she needed to solve. They weren't surprised by this as their father and step-mother warned them about the quirks that demigods had, such as children of Hermes and mischief, children of Ares being bloodthirsty, and children of Athena having an almost unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Almost all demigods had what they called a 'fatal flaw', which their father said the most commonly seen is hubris, which appears in many demigods but will always be seen in children of Athena.
The two twins began to walk away as the demigods seemed to be stuck in reminiscing. As they were almost out of the clear, Zoë spoke up with a mischievous smile on her face, one that made her twin smirk. "If you have any more questions about our father, you should find Reyna; she knows more about our father than either of us. She is one of his most trusted people after all."
'Sorry, mom, but we aren't going to be bothered anymore. Good luck,' both twins thought simultaneously. Across the camp, at the Big House, a certain Roman felt a shiver down her spine, and thought that she should punish a particular pair of twins.
While everybody else went to do their own things, Zoë and Andromeda decided that they needed some time to themselves in their cabin.
"How long do we have to stay here again, Z?" Andromeda asked from her bunk. They had just arrived in their cabin as they didn't feel that they could stand being asked questions by people they didn't know.
The cabin was pretty much the same as when their father was there: same rough grey stone outside and abalone glow on the inside. The six bunk beds were the same except with two of them now being occupied. And the thing that they made sure to take care of, the Moonlace plant that their dad got when he was younger.
"Hopefully, we only have to be here till the crisis is over. Then we can head back to Father." Zoë answered with her eyes closed as she laid down.
The twins liked times like this; the quiet always seemed to welcome them. Zoë and Andromeda have always been close. They never really interacted much outside of their family. While they were close to their mom when she was involved in their life, they were closer to their father. He taught them almost everything they knew, from the best way to hold a sword to controlling the powers inherited from Poseidon.
"Z. Do you think that mom is ever going to claim us like dad said she would. She isn't ashamed of us, is she?" Andromeda asked with uncertainty.
Zoë sighed at this; while she and Andromeda appeared to be cold and indifferent to everyone, they were still only 16. When their mother first left when they were younger, they were broken. Only ever talking to their father and barely leaving his side as they didn't want him to leave like she did. It was one of the main reasons why they tried so hard to be like their father. They wanted to make him proud and be able to stand by him when he needed them. Zoë also knew that ever since their mother left, Andromeda had a fear of being abandoned -she did too, but she has always kept it hidden from just about everyone- and only the comfort of their father was able to help with this.
"I don't know if she will claim us, but just know that even if she doesn't, we still have dad. And dad said that she loves us and he would never lie to us." That was true, though. He had never kept anything from them; it was his way of showing them that he trusted and valued them. "And I don't know if she would be ashamed of us. We have just followed the path that the Fates laid before us. It was us who chose to be like our father and follow him to the Order. Remember what Father told us. 'We have walked through the darkness of this world-"
"-that's why we are able to see even a sliver of light.' (A/N: A quote by Gaara from Naruto). Yes, how could I forget."
"Just remember how we were raised. We don't take anything for free, and as dad says, 'Don't take shit from anyone.' Now we should rest before dinner, so sleep." And with that, the two girls went to sleep. It would be a few hours later that they would walk into the dining pavilion.
All of the campers were piling into the dining pavilion for dinner when they saw that Artemis was also staying at camp with hunters and not just dropping them off. As always, the hunters were sitting at their table glaring wholes into every male camper that seemed to enter their line of sight. At the head table were Artemis, Chiron, and Dionysus. After every camper got their food and made sacrifices to the Gods, they all turned towards the Poseidon table.
At the table were Zoë, Andromeda, and Reyna, who were all eating and talking quietly. Chiron took this time to introduce the twins as new campers, so he cleared his throat.
"Campers! As you have noticed, we have some new faces amongst us tonight. One is Mrs. Reyna Ramírez-Arellano, former praetor of Camp Jupiter." This got some nods of acknowledgment from the campers. "Also, joining us are two new campers. They are Zoë Jackson and Andromeda Jackson! Grandaughters of Poseidon and daughters of our own Perseus Jackson!" This would have shocked the campers if the gossip about them didn't spread around camp and Poseidon being seen escorting them to cabin 3.
Murmurs started going around the pavilion about them, ranging from being too 'perfect' to be warriors to being destined to save the world as their father did. Chiron stomped one of his hooves to get the campers to calm down as they were getting louder but was unsuccessful. They were only stopped when Artemis flared her power, further enhanced by her glaring at everyone who was murmuring about her daughters-not that they knew-and this scared everyone into silence. Some of the more observant campers noticed that she redirected her glare onto Dionysus as he seemed to be snickering at her for some unknown reason as if he knew something that no one else did.
Depending on your choice of words, one brave or stupid camper asked a question that others were wondering but didn't want to ask as they were still scared of offending the Moon Goddess. "Why is Reyna sitting at Lord Poseidon's table? She isn't a child of his."
This caused everyone to look at the table again, wondering, and saw that the three were still eating despite what was going on around them. Even Chiron seemed to ponder on why she sat there when guests usually sat at the head table.
"Why does it matter to you if I sit here or not?" Reyna said as she looked up and stared at the camper that asked straight in the eyes. This unnerved the camper and those around him. She noticed that he was a son of Apollo based on his blonde hair.
The camper fidgeted slightly at her still staring at him but then spoke. "I was just trying to say that since you are a guest and not a child of Lord Poseidon. You should be sitting at the head table with Lord Dionysus, Chiron, and Lady Artemis."
If anyone had looked closer, they would have seen the little moment where Reyna and Artemis shared a look; Artemis narrowed her eyes as if challenging Reyna, and Reyna smirked in acceptance of the challenge. Dionysus only caught this as he gained an amused look.
"Well, I would like to think that I have permission to sit at the table of my father-in-law." Clatters of campers dropping their utensils sounded out before complete silence ensued. "And before any of you ask, Zoë and Andromeda are not my biological daughters."
The silence continued until Chiron spoke. "Very well, I hope that answers your question, campers. If you have any more, then ask on your own time."
Everyone slowly ate their food as they were still surprised. No one thought that Percy would be married to Reyna as they had contact with her, and it was never mentioned. They especially didn't think that he would be in a relationship with her after they found out that she was immortal; that was the exact reason why he and Annabeth didn't work out in the first place.
After a while, people started filing out to go back to their cabins. No one even seemed to notice when the three assassins -if they find that out- left the pavilion. It was by mere chance that they were seen as they entered the Poseidon cabin. As they were lying down, the three heard a noise.
'Knock, Knock, Knock'
Reyna decided to get it as she knew the others wouldn't because of their, uh… anti-social tendencies, yes that's right. She opened the door and saw someone that she didn't want to see. Annabeth Chase.
"What can I do for you, Annabeth?" Reyna asked with a stoic face.
"I just have a couple of questions that I want to ask. Do you have any time?" She asked with a smile. One that Reyna could tell was fake. One didn't go through the training she did and not learn how to discern real emotions from fake ones.
"I'm sorry, Annabeth. But can we do this tomorrow? I am tired right now, and I don't want to bother the girls. I hope that you understand."
"Oh… Of course, I understand! How about tomorrow after breakfast then? I can bring the others too. I know that we all have questions." She said. Without even waiting for a reply, she walked off.
"Esa pequeña perra!" Reyna cursed in Spanish. "Ni siquiera me dejó responder."(A/N: Google Translate: That little bitch! She didn't even let me answer.)
The twins, having heard her winced and felt a little pity for the blonde. When their step-mother was angry, the person responsible always ended up in some kind of infirmary. They knew exactly what she said as they knew a multitude of languages that their father taught them. The two knew that she could also have said something more colorful, but thankfully, she didn't. They also sweatdropped because they also talk in different languages when they were angry. Russia was a good/bad experience for them, depending on who you asked.
The next morning Reyna sat in the Big House waiting for Annabeth and whoever she brought with her. While thinking about what she would say, she looked down at the ring on her left ring-finger. It was made of materials given to her husband by Lord Pluto himself. The ring was made of adamantine, with red and sea-green jewels on it. It also included an engraving of her mother's symbol and the symbol of Poseidon. On the bottom was the mark of the Assassin's Order, something that she wore with pride. She was about to leave when the door opened, and a group walked in. It was the group of immortal campers that knew her husband that best, well used to anyway.
"So, what would you like to know?" Reyna said, getting straight to the point.
Annabeth was the one to talk first. "Well, we were wondering if you could get us in contact with Percy?"
"No."
"No? Why not?" Annabeth asked in an irritated tone.
"He is a very busy person. At this moment, he doesn't need any distractions."
"Are you saying we are a distraction? We are his friends. We have a right to know."
"You have received your answer. Are there any other questions?" Reyna answered. Her stoic visage unnerving some of them.
"Well, how long have you and Percy been together?" This was Katie who asked,
"I have been married to Percy for 20 years, but we were in a relationship for three years before that," Reyna said casually. She knew that they would question her on if she was involved with him for so long, then why didn't she tell them. Her answer was simple. She trusted her husband's decision to stay away.
"If you knew where the kelp-head was, then why didn't you tell anyone? You were in contact with others during part of that time. It wouldn't have been too hard to tell one of us." Thalia said. It was clear that she was angry, but Reyna could tell who the anger was focused on. It could have been her, or it could have been Percy.
"I told no one because Percy wished it. You need to understand that when Percy makes a choice, I trust him. Same with when I make a choice, he trusts me." That seemed to confuse the others.
"Why would he not want us in his life?" The daughter of Zeus asked with confusion on her face.
"It was more for your protection. Just know this. If certain people found out who Percy was and connected him to you, your lives would be in danger." She said with a grave tone, "Now, don't ask any more about that. What else would you like to know?" They seemed to accept that she wouldn't elaborate. The Stoll brothers seemed to come to a realization, one that she was interested in but felt that it would be bad.
"You said that you've been in a relationship-" Travis started.
"-for around 23 years. But Zoë and Andromeda are-" Connor continued.
"-16 years old. You said that they were not your blood daughters." Travis said.
"Does this mean that Perce cheated on you?" Connor finished. The room stilled, with the girls gaining angry faces.
"No, not at all. Percy would never cheat on me." Reyna said with a predatory smirk that scared the others.
Clarisse seemed to be the only one not bothered by the look. "What are you saying? You make it sound as if Prissy is in a relationship with another woman besides you."
Reyna put on a straight face that really shouldn't have surprised any of them."Well, the twins had to come from somewhere, and it wasn't me. I won't deny that I am bi-sexual. Also, who am I to deny a goddess the love she craves. It was an interesting experience at first, but with the things that we have been through, it didn't bother me." She gained a faraway look in her eyes towards the end. As if she remembered an experience that shaped her life in more ways than one.
"And you're okay with that? You're fine sharing the man you married to." Thalia asked. "Well, I guess you don't have to anymore. I mean, the gods can't raise their kids."
"I didn't mind sharing. As long as I was with the man I loved, I didn't care what I had to deal with. Also, the girls' mother was a constant in their life until they were eight years old. She would just split her essence so that she could do it, and Lord Poseidon made sure that no one found out. She didn't want her daughters to grow up thinking that they were unwanted, so she found a way to stay for as long as possible." Reyna answered. She said all of that with a smile as if it made her respect for the goddess rise.
"Wait, so you are saying that a goddess broke the ancient laws. I knew they didn't matter!" Leo said with enthusiasm. The others just looked at him strangely before just jotting it down as another one of his quirks.
"Now, before you ask anything else, I believe that we should catch up on your lives and not mine." They seemed to agree to this as they just started to talk about everyday things. It would be a few hours later when they left for lunch. They tried to get her to tell them who was the mother of Percy's daughters throughout the day, but she wouldn't budge. She only gave a hint that it could happen after the capture the flag game on the weekend. This was mostly because those from Camp Jupiter were set to arrive in the next few days. Throughout all of this, she didn't miss the look of absolute jealousy that a certain daughter of Athena was throwing her way.
A/N: I know that this one was late and not the best written. I am taking four college classes while still a high school senior, so it wasn't my main priority. I will continue to update the stories that I am writing, but I might have to change it to alternating stories every week to work with my schedule. I would appreciate constructive criticism, but don't flame as there is a difference. I will also try my best to answer your questions that you leave in the comments. If I post a chapter and there are random mistakes in it, the reason is that I am uploading this on my phone. I will also write other stories as well aside from this one. You might think that my stories are similar to others; well, that is because I take inspiration from other stories. Another reason for this is that I hate it when I am reading a story and the author leaves it unfinished and doesn't even give a reason why they stopped. I will sometimes just take an unfinished story and try to continue it or add my own twist. I do this because I think that it is fun and I can get bored pretty easily. When I do this I will mention the story title and name of the author that I took inspiration/used material from. Remember, if you don't like it. Then why are you reading it?
