Chapter 5: Never Underestimate an Assassin
A/N: This will be in every chapter from now on, so you can ignore this first paragraph of the author note if you want. I would just like to thank those who read my story as this is the first one I am doing. I am quite nervous as writing is more of something I do to pass the time, so I am not the best. I try my best with grammar and spelling, so before I post a chapter, I put it through Grammarly, but even that is not perfect. A thing that I will say is that every chapter won't be the same length. The chapters will range from 3,000 words to possibly 6,000 words, but I will try to stay consistent with the lengths. I will state this in every chapter, but I am going to use information from every current Assassin's Creed game there is. I have never played Assassin's Creed personally, but I have watched others play the game on Youtube, so my information will most likely come from the Assassin's Creed Fandom Wiki.
I would like to thank everyone for the reviews. I will probably answer or reply to reviews after every chapter but not all of them.
The first from BilderNick: If we see mistakes (spelling or otherwise) would you like those pointed out? The answer is yes. As I have said that I put my chapters through Grammarly as I write them, but not everything is picked up. I have seen some small/minor mistakes that Grammarly did not pick up, and I would be grateful if there are some that I miss that you point out to me. It only helps me improve.
PerseusPeverell092: Great chapter. And the touch of insecurity was nice to stave off the coldness that seemed to permeate the twins' character. I also like this. I have read some fanfics that crossover with Assassin's Creed, be they major or minor. The character always seems to have some cold side to them. I agree with this as it shows everything they have gone through with their work. I wanted to show that even though the twins are Assassins, that they are still human. I believe that Percy would like for his children not to be consumed by darkness. This is further shown as I have mentioned that the twins do have a somewhat normal life outside of the Brotherhood. I also don't think that Artemis would want her daughters to go down a dark path and never see the light. Their insecurities are them having a light side beside the darkness they work in.
RageSage: Lol why would anyone complain about not posting this under the crossover section? Such a weird thing to complain about. Cool chapter, eager to read the rest! Right! I don't know why they would complain about it. But I am not them, nor do I care. I wonder if they read multi-crossover fanfics and complain about it not being under the right section as well?
Guest: It's ring and ring-finger. Wring means "to twist" or "to grip". I have realized this error as well and will go back and fix it later. As I stated above, there are things that Grammarly or I pick up. Thanks for pointing it out to me though, I appreciate it.
Guest: Annabeth will cause some problems. When do the campers find out about them being assassins? Yes, Annabeth will cause some issues. They could be minor or significant. My reason for this is because, in my story, she believes that Percy left her because she betrayed his trust by accepting immortality. She is partially correct; she doesn't know that Percy was also dealing with other things in his personal life. And the campers will find out about the three being assassins after the Romans arrive. My plan is for the Gods to arrive at camp and try to explain it to them, still thinking about it.
Guest: Aww, that sucks that you removed Kassandra from the pairing. Would have loved to have at least one female character from Assassin's Creed in it, especially since she is Greek. Sorry about that, but people pointed out that the pairing most likely wouldn't have worked for the story that I am doing. I thought about it and where I want my story to go, and I agreed. Don't worry, though. That doesn't mean that she is out of the story entirely. Also, I have an idea for a future story that will most likely be Percy x Kassandra. Or even Percy x harem of some of the Assassin's Creed females such as Kassandra, Evie Frye, Galina Voroina, or even Aya(the only ones that I can remember off the top of my head). I plan to post a 'story' of future story ideas that I have and go into more detail there.
Guest(Mark Andrew): That would be interesting seeing a Percy Kassandra story! Hmm. I'm surprised Ary didn't flip and just claim the twins right then and there at dinner. That'd put Dio in his place! Also, I think that it'd be great if there are younger kids, of Percy and Reyna. Maybe twins, a boy, and a girl? Idk why. But I feel an "overprotective" father fits Percy well! Good luck with classes! Thank you for the input on my potential story. I might make a new 'story' that is just my future/potential story ideas. I will give a little background into them, such as the basic summary and if I took inspiration from anywhere. The reason that Artemis didn't flip as you say and claim them is simple to me. She knows that it isn't the right time yet. As you could see, she and Reyna have an, in my opinion, rivalry/sister relationship. This is shown by Reyna giving Artemis a challenging look. Reyna wanted to see how Artemis would react to what she was about to say. While I don't have experience with sisters, I have brothers, and we like to piss each other off. I have seen my friends do this as well, be it with brothers or sisters. Siblings like to annoy each other. You might ask why Zoë and Andromeda don't do this? Well, this is because twins are much more connected and in sync than ordinary siblings. And Artemis isn't petty enough to do it just to shut up Dionysus. She can tell he knows something or has a 'feeling' but doesn't question him as it could prove him to be correct. Or he might know the truth and just wants to watch the chaos unfold like the madman he is. I also like the idea of younger siblings born from Percy and Reyna; I am just trying to figure out the ages. Please help me with this! I know that they can't be too young, or that would make Reyna being with the girls difficult as I don't see her wanting to not be with her kids if they are younger than, say, the age of 12 years. I know that Zoë and Andromeda are 16 years, so I thought that Reyna's children could be maybe 13 years or 14 years. This is so that Zoë and Andromeda can have that overprotective sibling thing where they will always watch out for the younger siblings no matter what. And you are correct that the overprotective father role fits Percy well. I think that this is how Percy would act no matter what. There is no way you can say that Percy doesn't have some form of PTSD from the past two wars. He saw plenty of other campers die in just the 2nd Titan War. He would develop a kind of want to protect all that is close to him in fear of losing it. This also connects to his past with Artemis and Reyna. And thank you for the good luck in my classes.
I have one thing to say regarding my upload/updating schedule. I will most likely update one story per week and alternate stories. This means one week is (currently) Of The Creed & Moon, and then next week is From Zero to Hero, so and so forth. If it comes down to it, the most time you will have to wait is two weeks.
Disclaimer: I don't own anything in this story relating to Percy Jackson & the Olympians or the Assassin's Creed saga. If there is any talk in a different language as Assassin's Creed covers the entire world and Percy Jackson & the Olympians sometimes speak in Greek and Latin, it will be in bold and italics. I do the translating through Google Translate.
"Men must be free to do what they believe. It is not our right to punish them for thinking what they do, no matter how much we disagree."
- Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad
- Long Island - Camp Half-Blood -
It was getting harder for the daughters of Percy Jackson to stay at Camp Half-Blood. They were used to a quiet life where everyone knew personal boundaries; these campers knew none of these boundaries. Zoë thought that she would kill the next daughter of Aphrodite, who wanted to give her a makeover. She and Andromeda were just hoping that the Romans would get to camp soon so that their father could arrive. It would happen to be their lucky day as the Romans were supposed to arrive later that day.
Zoë and Andromeda were currently resting on the beach, trying to get away from everything. They had always done this since they were young as their father had told them that the ocean would always calm them down. Sure, they were supposed to be training with the campers, but it wasn't training to them. When their father had told them that Camp Half-Blood was lax when it came to doing things, they didn't imagine this. Zoë and Andromeda had always had the best trainers, whether it be Reyna, their father, or Kassandra. They were hoping to be left alone until they heard footsteps heading their way. With that, both girls stood up and turned towards the sound. Coming towards them was a red-headed girl with green eyes.
"Hello, you two. You don't know me, but I'm Rachel Elizabeth Dare, the current Oracle." The redhead introduced herself with a smile. The two assassins shared a look before Andromeda answered.
"Hello, I am Andromeda Jackson, and this is my sister Zoë Jackson," she said with a stoic face. She hoped that this new girl wouldn't want to talk to them too much. They were doing just fine relaxing.
"Oh, I know who you are. It would be kind of hard not knowing who you were with all the talk going on around camp." The Oracle said with a cheery voice and smile.
The twins were confused about what was happening. Never had they met someone like her. They, of course, knew of her from their father's stories of his earlier life, but they didn't expect to see her so soon after only being at camp for a few days. "Well, we will be going now. We don't want to bother anyone, so bye, it was nice to meet you." Andromeda said as they turned to leave.
Rachel was confused as to why they were leaving her, but she remembered why she was talking to them in the first place. She was sent there to retrieve them for the training they were skipping out on. "Wait! The senior campers sent me here to get you two. You are missing training right now. If you hurry back, you can make it before it ends and not get in any trouble." That seemed to work as the two girls turned back towards her. What she wasn't expecting was the answer she received from Zoë.
"If that is what his camp calls training, then it needs some serious help. For us, this would be a warm-up compared to the training our father had us go through. We will wait until Reyna is done with her business so that she can help us train." Zoë said with an edge in her voice as if the training at Camp Half-Blood insulted her. Rachel was taken aback by this and was about to reply until she was cut off. "Just know this, our father and a few others trained us to be the best there is in our line of work. So I wouldn't bother trying to convince us otherwise. Let's go, Andromeda; we can go relax somewhere else."
And with that, the two young assassins left, leaving a thoroughly confused Oracle. Rachel wasn't just confused by their actions but also how they acted as if everyone in this camp was a nuisance. Something that would only get in the way if it ever came down to it, and as if no one could take them on in a fight and win. She then remembered Zoë's words, "They were trained to be the best in their line of work… Just what did she mean by that." The redhead muttered to herself as she walked off to find the others.
"-and that is what they said to me. I didn't entirely understand what they meant, but that was the gist of it." Rachel finished relaying what she was told to the others. The responses were a little mixed. Half of them just didn't care and thought it would be their fault if they fell behind, while the other half -Annabeth, Clarisse, and Thalia- were miffed and angry. In their minds, the two were being cocky and arrogant.
"They seem pretty sure that they don't need our training. I say just leave them be. It is their choice anyways," said the elfish son of Hephaestus.
"Well, it doesn't matter what they think. If need be, let's teach them a lesson so that they can be kicked off their high horses. We don't need any arrogant demigods here, and I don't care if Prissy is their dad." Clarisse said with a sneer.
While the others didn't agree with what they clearly knew Clarisse wanted to do, they could see the positive points to it. With everything decided, the group of semi-immortal demigods went to find the wayward Legacies of Poseidon. It wouldn't be until after lunch that the group finally found a trace of the two.
"Gods! How hard is it to find two demigods? Come on, hunter girl. Isn't this supposed to be your specialty?" Clarisse said to Thalia, clearly annoyed. Said girl was annoyed at being referred to as 'hunter girl' and shocked Clarisse with a bit of static electricity.
"Shut up, Clarisse. If you're so good, then why don't you find them without my help?" Thalia's comment was met with silence. "That's what I thought. Now come on, I think I found a trail to follow."
The group continued walking until they heard what sounded like arrows hitting a target. Moving some brush aside, they entered an isolated clearing where they saw something truly remarkable. Standing side by side were Zoë and Andromeda, firing off arrows in rapid succession. They stood in a circle with a number of targets all around them, some on stands with others in trees. The way they were moving around each other in sync, making it look more like a dance than target practice. Thalia was in awe and was wishing that the two girls would join the Hunters of Artemis. Some of the targets had multiple arrows in them. The thing was, though, each arrow was a bullseye splitting the previous arrow down the center of the shaft. These two girls could easily outclass even the most skilled huntresses; only the veteran huntresses could come close to what the two girls just did. The two girls suddenly stopped, confusing the onlookers.
"I hope you enjoyed the show," a voice sounded behind them. The onlookers all jumped several feet into the air and screamed. "Hehehehe," the voice giggled. Turning around, the group noticed that it was Reyna who snuck upon them.
"REYNA!" They all screamed. Zoë and Andromeda walked over and looked on with amused looks on their faces. They didn't think that these seasoned demigods would get scared over such a small thing as Reyna sneaking upon them. But they were used to this as everyone they were usually around walked just as quietly. Silently, they wondered if these people were indeed their father's friends as they didn't act like someone he would be friends with.
"Where did you come from, chica? We didn't even hear you," exclaimed Leo, visibly surprised by the sudden appearance of the Roman demigod. She wore an amused smirk as she eyed the victims of her little joke; each one of them had a flushed face and was trying to catch their breath.
"I don't know what you are talking about. I have been here the entire time." She said with a straight face. "Just because you didn't hear me walk up to you doesn't mean that I haven't been here." Reyna was having fun with this. She idly wondered what was going to happen when the other assassins arrived. If these demigods couldn't handle her walking as quietly as she does, then how would they handle others who walk just as quietly without even trying.
"How can you walk so quietly? It shouldn't be possible to be that quiet with all of the twigs on the ground." Questioned Thalia. It took the hunters years of practice to get close to being that quiet while hunting, but it seemed that Reyna was doing it without even trying. The longer Reyna, Zoë, and Andromeda stayed at camp, the more questions she seemed to have.
"It's really not that hard. I've just practiced until I was this good, and if that scared you, then I wonder how you would react to Percy. He is even quieter than I am." Now that surprised them. Percy Jackson, the person who they always thought had as much stealth as a bull in a china shop, was quiet. They thought she was joking until they saw the look on her face; it showed that she was completely serious. "So if you don't mind me asking, why are you here? This area is pretty out of place; you would have to be trying to find us to come out here."
At this, Clarisse grew a little angry. "We've been trying to find the two princesses over there because they skipped out on training today," Clarisse stated while pointing over her shoulder towards the two archers. Said archers just rolled their eyes. "Chiron might not care right now because to him, they are still adjusting, but we know that they are more than ready to train. Even you skipped out today."
Reyna looked at them quizzically; she didn't understand why this was an issue. If Chiron was okay with it, then they shouldn't be bothered. "Why does this bother you? If Chiron is OK with this, then they are fine. Plus, as you can see, they are training, just not with you. Also, I have been training with them." They clearly just saw how well trained the twins were, so why were they bothered by this.
Annabeth saw that they were getting nowhere, and decided to speak. "We just think that it would be beneficial if you three were to train with the others. After seeing what Zoë and Andromeda just did, I believe that they could teach the others a few things." As much as her pride fought against her, even she couldn't deny the fact that the two girls were possibly the strongest demigods in the camp.
"I don't mean to be rude, but the level of training that this camp does is not much compared to the training that my daughters are used to. Percy wanted his daughters to be the strongest, so the training he put them through can't be compared to the camps. As their father told them, the training you guys do is basic, which was proven to them on their first day. No one can even keep up with them, bar a few." Reyna said with a serious look. She didn't want to come off as rude, but she knew it to be accurate as she went through the same training as the twins. If Kassandra were to see how these campers were being trained, she would probably walk away in disgust. She fought in the Peloponnesian War, and she knew what a true warrior was supposed to be like.
Everything Reyna just said stung their pride. They were all seasoned demigods, having experienced the Second Giant War, with most of them also having experienced the Second Titan War. For someone to tell them that their training was inadequate infuriated some of them. The more carefree of the group(Connor and Travis Stoll, and Leo Valdez) didn't mind that much; some of the others, though(Annabeth, Clarisse, and Thalia), were angry and felt their pride take a hit.
"If you're so good, then how about you prove it. You three against three of us, I believe that it will be fair." Clarisse stated. The daughter of Ares had the utmost confidence that these three couldn't beat them and that only Reyna would put up a decent fight. Oh, she didn't know how wrong she was.
"If you have your things, we can have our spar right here," Reyna replied. She really should have seen this coming from Clarisse; she was a daughter of a war god, after all. But so was she, so she had nothing to be worried about. Seeing how Clarisse and company came to find them from their exercises, they were already in armor, so they couldn't back down anyways. Getting a nod in response, everyone walked over towards the center of the clearing.
"Okay, señoritas, this is going to be a clean match. Before we start, Team Jackson!" Everyone looked at Leo as he called them Team Jackson. "Are you going to wear some armor for this or not? Also, where are your weapons?" Without saying a word, the three brought rings attached to chains from their pockets. They then squeezed them and were holding three different swords. Reyna held a black short-sword with a gold, leather-bound handle with embossments of lions on the pommel(1). Zoë had a dark steel xiphos with a golden likeness of Medusa on the guard(2). Finally, Andromeda held a golden sword a little longer than Zoë's xiphos, which had a pegasus figure adorning the crossguard(3).
These weapons surprised the group. Don't get them wrong, but these blades didn't appear to be made of any magical metals they knew of. If anything, they seemed to be made out of mortal metals. This, of course, didn't stop Leo from drooling at the weapons that were crafted with the utmost expertise. As they were about to ask, Reyna answered their unasked question.
"You don't have to worry; they have been enchanted to be able to harm mythological entities. Just think of them as a weapon that is half Mortal Metal and half Godly Metal." Now, this stunned the group. Why would these three need weapons like that? The only reason they could come up with was that they fought monsters as well as humans. They questioned why they would ever need to fight other humans. The three girls then touched a pendant on their jacket collars(A/N: Assassin Order insignia*). The pendants glowed slightly before spreading over their bodies before they disappeared. Reyna was dressed in long white robes with golden accents. A golden and silver pauldron covered the right shoulder with more gold surrounding the collar and a golden belt(6). Hanging off the back of her right shoulder was a red cloak. Zoë and Andromeda wore similar clothing but black with silver accents. Instead, the armored parts were dark steel with silver accents(6). They were about to question the clothing as they didn't know how that would work as armor, but the three girls walked away before they could. Annabeth just took out her dagger while Thalia and Clarisse brought out their spears. Thalia also touched her magic bracelet and brought out her shield Aegis.
The two groups of three stood across from each other, with the non-participants standing to the side. On one side was Reyna, Zoë, and Andromeda, while Clarisse, Thalia, and Annabeth were on the other side. The campers of Camp Half-Blood were sizing up their opponents, not knowing what to expect from them while their opponents were 'looking' at them with disinterest. They couldn't tell as their hoods covered up their eyes and shadowed most of their faces. Travis and Connor Stoll stepped forward to start the match.
"Ready…" Started Travis.
"Set…" Continued Connor.
"GO!" They finished together.
(A/N: This will be my first time writing a fight, so it will probably be terrible. Just know that I tried.) The two groups advanced towards each other as the campers advanced faster than the three assassins. Annabeth gained a glint in her eye as she tried to spot any holes in her opponents' defense but was left perplexed. Her opponents were just slowly advancing without a care as if they had already won, and it infuriated her. Her teammates were as well by the looks of anger on their faces. Not being able to take this, Clarisse rushed forward and thrust her spear Maimer at Andromeda, who calmly sidestepped the strike. She kept on lunging and striking but always missed as Andromeda either stepped to the side or lept backward. Annabeth, seeing this happening, realized what was going on; these three planned to separate them. Before she could warn her teammates, Zoë struck. The young assassin rushed forward on an unseen signal, swiftly parrying a strike from Thalia away with her blade before sending a solid kick which Aegis promptly blocked. This didn't matter, though, as the force behind the kick knocked the daughter of Zeus to the ground rolling. After a few rolls, she stood up with a bewildered look on her face. Annabeth didn't expect this. She was not like her two teammates and expected a decent fight, not what would turn into a one-sided battle against them. Turning back to Reyna, she had just enough time to block a strike that would have sliced her across her chest.
Andromeda didn't know what to expect at first. She thought that Clarisse would have been more intelligent than what she was showing her. Her father used to tell her that Clarisse was one of the strongest warriors in Camp Half-Blood, having slain a drakon during the Second Titan War. All she got instead was a girl with a spear and anger problems. Getting tired of dodging and seeing that the others took on their targets, Andromeda struck at Clarisse. When Clarisse next lunged at her, she swung up with Chrysaor, pairing the strike and throwing Clarisse off balance. Andromeda then used a flurry of strikes against her opponent; slice from the left, a feint to the right then slash down, stab, slice upward, repeat. She had to give her opponent some respect. Clarisse was able to parry and evade about three-fourths of her attacks, but she also wasn't trying her hardest. Andromeda knew that if she were to use the full extent of the things she has learned from her father and other teachers that this fight would have been over in the starting moments. With a few precise movements, Andromeda was able to disarm Clarisse. She stabbed her blade into the ground and approached for some close-quarters combat. With a few well-placed punches and kicks, she was able to knock Clarisse a few feet away from her to where she now sat on the ground.
Andromeda walked back to where her blade was and grabbed it. She stared at her opponent with disappointment; she wanted to see if anyone in this camp could give her and her sister a challenge. All she had seen were warriors who didn't take their training seriously. "If this is the best that this camp has to offer, then our point has been proven. I think I understand why my father sent my sister and me here. We don't need this camp. This camp needs us." Andromeda said with some finality to her tone. Just as she was about to eliminate her opponent from the match, Reyna's voice sounded out.
"Devochki, pomnite, chemu vas uchila, Galina?" Reyna asked in Russian, "Zakonchite eto!"(A/N: Google Translate: Girls, remember what Galina taught you? Finish this!)
Andromeda nodded and rushed forward.
Zoë was a little disappointed; she was fighting a daughter of Zeus who couldn't even take one of her kicks and remain standing. True, she did probably surprise her by suddenly rushing forward. But she was a seasoned demigod and huntress to boot. She should have better senses than most demigods; what Zoë was seeing was, in her opinion, pathetic.
"What the hell was that!?" Thalia asked Zoë.
Zoë looked at her like the answer was obvious, "It's called a kick." She didn't understand what the issue was; it was Thalia's fault for not preparing for the kick. You would think that she would be prepared for everything for as long as she had been alive.
Not wanting to waste time, Zoë lunged forward once more. This time Thalia was ready for the attack as she braced herself for the sword slash as she brought her shield up. Once more, she was shocked by the amount of force the sixteen-year-old in front of her could use. Thinking quickly, she sent some electricity through her spear in an attempt to shock and stun her opponent. Her attempt was in vain as Zoë lept backward, dodging the attack with ease as if she expected the attack to come.
"If you thought that I didn't expect you to do that, then you are foolish. Have you already forgotten who my father is? He taught us all about the ways that you and your friends fought. You fought and trained alongside him, he learned how all of you fought so that he could counter you, and he passed that information on to my sister and me." Zoë said with a knowing tone. Zoë and Andromeda used to wonder why their father would teach them about the different fighting styles of the campers at Camp Half-Blood. He later explained to them that their enemies would not always fight the same way. She now wondered if he meant that as them possibly fighting the campers in the future. They didn't doubt it. The Templars had ways of getting informants everywhere. There were past instances in the Assassins Order of this happening; their father even experienced this and was forced to kill a traitor. Another example was the Assassin turned Templar Shay Patrick Cormac.
Deciding that enough was enough, Zoë brought up her blade, the Gorgoneion Xiphos, once again and charged. Just like her sister was doing, she attacked with a systematic flurry of strikes; slice from the left, a feint to the right then slash down, stab, slice upward, repeat. With a quick step, she was able to get into Thalia's guard and cut the inside of her left arm. This forced her to drop her shield, Aegis, leaving her with only her spear. Zoë then sent a decisive strike downward, causing Thalia to drop her spear, thus disarming her. Like her sister, Zoë chose to fight her unarmed opponent in close-quarters combat. She stabbed the Gorgoneion Xiphos into the ground and attacked. Zoë swiftly dodged an overextended punch toward her head and thrust her right knee into Thalia's gut. She then spun and sent a left high-kick lifting her opponent off the ground while immediately following with a palm thrust toward Thalia's chest.
Thalia struggled to get up while holding her stomach. Zoë just stood there while holding her recovered sword. The young assassin pointed her blade at her threateningly, and the huntress could have sworn that she heard voices of people but saw no one speaking. Zoë then said, "Know this now, Grace, the difference between this camp and the training we have endured is too great. Look at the difference in skill between us two. I could have killed you at any moment." Zoë might have spoken in a stoic tone, but it was no less intimidating. Thalia wanted to retort that Zoë was wrong but was stopped by Reyna's voice.
"Devochki, pomnite, chemu vas uchila, Galina?" Reyna asked in Russian, "Zakonchite eto!"(A/N: Google Translate: Girls, remember what Galina taught you? Finish this!)
Zoë tensed before she charged forward.
Reyna was smirking. Everything was going according to the plan she silently relayed to her daughters before the 'spar' started. She wasn't going to call this a spar. The skill level between opponents was too great. It was closer to master teaching his new student not to get cocky and overconfident. While she knew that Annabeth was one of the most experienced campers, she wasn't necessarily the strongest. The girl was more brains than brawn. Reyna had to wonder if she had to hold back even more of her strength because the daughter of Athena was barely able to parry her obvious sword strikes. She should have expected this, though. You don't spend the time she did trying to learn how to block a strike from Percy and Kassandra and not develop some strength. Seriously, those two didn't know what the term hold back meant, and if they did, they needed to hold back more.
Annabeth stumbled back after blocking another strike from Reyna. She wondered how someone could be so strong, but she remembered that she hadn't seen Reyna in around 20 years. How Reyna could move in her current clothes, she didn't know. In her opinion, those types of clothes should be counterproductive to her movement, but she was moving without restriction as if such clothes were natural to fight in. How she could see was a mystery to her as the hood clearly blocked Reyna's vision from what she could see, and she only had one visible piece of armor, and that was on her right shoulder. She was brought out of her thoughts by a kick to her stomach that sent her to the ground.
"Get up. This is supposed to be a fight where you beat us, is it not," Reyna said in a mocking tone that one would not expect from her. "I am waiting for when you prove us wrong." Reyna was not amused by the way the fight was going. In her eyes, this fight was showing that the demigods wouldn't be able to win the coming war without help. She was about to speak again when she noticed Annabeth start to stand.
"I never expected those kinds of words to come from you, Reyna. What happened to the warrior who was nothing but professional at all times?" Annabeth asked. Reyna didn't know if she was serious with her question or not and decided not to answer. She regretted not doing so as the following statement infuriated her. "If you have changed as I have seen you, then I do not understand what Percy sees in you. I mean, if he's with you now, then I wonder what you did to make him choose you over me?"
Reyna was infuriated by what Annabeth was insinuating. Did the girl believe that she would stoop so low as to hore her body out to someone just for them to love her? The daughter of Bellona saw red. Today a certain daughter of Athena would die. All Annabeth did was remind Reyna of why she disliked her. She was already mad at her for the way she selfishly chose immortality over her 'so-called' love of her life. Now she had an entirely new reason just to hate the demigod. "Know this now, Annabeth. You have crossed a line, a line that should never be crossed. Out of anyone, you are the single person who has no right. No right! To question the love that Percy and I have for each other. Now prepare to face defeat." The look alone on Reyna's face was able to freeze Annabeth in place.
Reyna was upon Annabeth in an instant. She started to unleash strike after strike upon her opponent, victim? You could call her either right now. Reyna was striking without restraint, and it was showing with all of the cuts that now covered Annabeth's body. Reyna deliberately only made shallow cuts to make it more painful as she wanted the girl to feel the kind of pain that her husband felt when his heart was first broken. She knew that Percy didn't care about it anymore, but she did. To her, family will always come first, and she would protect that family even if it didn't want it or need it. She knew Annabeth was going to surrender soon, so she decided to attack quickly. Slice from the left, a feint to the right then slash down, stab, slice upward, repeat. Just like her daughters, she took down her opponent with strikes that she wouldn't be able to defend correctly.
As soon as Reyna disarmed her, Annabeth knew that the fight was over. Just as she was about to announce her surrender, Reyna brought her blade up and turned the flat side towards her. She looked at the blade and was confused. All blades showed a reflection, but this one didn't, which should have been impossible as metal was a reflective material. Just as she was about to look away, she felt the blade call out to her, drawing her in. Suddenly she felt as if she was sucked into an inescapable void that just drug her deeper and deeper in. She was frozen, without a way to properly defend herself.
Reyna inwardly smirked. She knew that those without a strong enough will wouldn't be able to resist the effect of her blade, Drinker of Light. Once that person looked at her sword, they were done for as they would get the feeling of being drawn into a never-ending void. She noticed that Zoë and Andromeda had disarmed their opponents as well, so she spoke in Russian so that no one else would understand what she was about to say. "Devochki, pomnite, chemu vas uchila, Galina?" She asked, "Zakonchite eto!"(A/N: Google Translate: Girls, remember what Galina taught you? Finish this!)
Seeing signs of acknowledgment, she rushed forward with the twins following. They all intended to end the fight right then and there. Just as their blades neared their shocked opponents, they heard Leo yell, "STOP!" Simultaneously, they all stopped just a few inches short of their opponents.
Everyone held their breath as the three swords glowed before tuning back into rings. The three assassins turned toward the crowd with what looked like disappointment. While the group might not have heard what Annabeth had said, Zoë and Andromeda certainly did, and they were not happy. No one was going to get away with disrespecting their mom in such a way. The three flashed before being left in their regular clothes, and everyone saw the intimidating stoic faces that they would probably never get used to. Just as one of them was about to speak, Reyna did.
"I hope that this shows you not to underestimate us. We have shown you just how costly it can be, and next time we might actually try to show you just what you are truly messing with." The three then turned away and started walking off. Leo wanted to stop them but was interrupted by a horn to signal the arrival of the Romans. "You might want to get them to the infirmary. Now goodbye, and we might see you at dinner." Without another word, the three assassins disappeared into the forest while the campers rushed to help their friends.
A/N: I know that this one was late and not the best written. I was in the hospital when I was supposed to be writing this, and then I had family visiting for Spring Break. I am trying to get back to writing now. I will continue to update the stories that I am writing, but I might have to change it to alternating stories every week to work with my schedule. That is also why this is the longest chapter. I would appreciate constructive criticism, but don't flame as there is a difference. I will also try my best to answer your questions that you leave in the comments. If I post a chapter and there are random mistakes in it, the reason is that I am uploading this on my phone. I will also write other stories as well aside from this one. You might think that my stories are similar to others; well, that is because I take inspiration from other stories. Another reason for this is that I hate it when I am reading a story and the author leaves it unfinished and doesn't even give a reason why they stopped. I will sometimes just take an unfinished story and try to continue it or add my own twist. I do this because I think that it is fun and I can get bored pretty easily. When I do this I will mention the story title and name of the author that I took inspiration/used material from. Remember, if you don't like it. Then why are you reading it?
If you don't understand the part where I referenced Galina Voronina from Assassin's Creed Syndicate, I did this for a reason. I remember reading on the wiki that she once killed three Templars with just a candlestick. This was pretty ruthless, and I believe that she would know the twins in one way as she is a Master Assassin in the Brotherhood.
