Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. read Thalia.
Poseidon paled, and was silently hoping there just so happened to be another demigod with his sons name. Wanting to keep him out of harms way as he does with all his children, at least until they are older.
I ACCIDENTALLY VAPORIZE MY PRE-ALGEBRA TEACHER
"Accidentally?" asked the younger demigods.
"Only Percy could manage that." replied Nico.
Poseidon figured out that they are reading about a 6th grader, and was still clinging on to the small piece of hope that this was a huge coincidence. That his 12 YEAR OLD son wouldn't have a bad fate. That he is enjoying his Christmas holiday instead.
Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood.
"Who does chorused the Future demigods."
If you're reading this because you think you might be one, my advice is:
"Oh no not his advice!" voiced Thalia dramatically.
"It's not bad Thalia!" Annabeth said defensively.
close this book right now. Believe whatever lie your mom or dad told you about your birth, and try to lead a normal life.
"See that was good advice, even if it wouldn't last forever." said Annabeth
"Alright I concede this time." said Thalia. Annabeth glared at her.
Being a half-blood is dangerous. It's scary. Most of the time, it gets you killed in painful,
nasty ways.
"Sums it up nicely." said Theseus.
Annabeth was started to get worried for Percy again. So Thalia put an arm around her for comfort, with young Annabeth squished in the middle of them. Smiling because she has Thalia back and is reading about her future boyfriend, which made her think who it was.
It couldn't be a current camper hopefully, so he must be elsewhere right now. Because she doesn't have a crush on anyone at the moment.
If you're a normal kid...But if you recognize yourself in these pages...it's only a matter of time
before they sense it too, and they'll come for you.
Don't say I didn't warn you.
"Didn't warn me." mumbled Nico. Thalia playfully shocked him for that comment.
"It was to late to warn you." replied Thalia.
My name is Percy Jackson.
Upon hearing this Poseidon paled further, but also went further into denial. Hoping this wasn't his boy.
I'm twelve years old. Until a few months ago, I was a boarding student at Yancy Academy, a
private school for troubled kids in upstate New York.
'Great, just great.' thought Poseidon. 'Its my kid, lets hope his luck is not too bad.'
Am I a troubled kid?
"Don't even say it." said a defensive Annabeth.
This caused Thalia to let out a short laugh. Much to everyone's confusion
Yeah. You could say that.
Everyone laughed after hearing that. While Annabeth just groaned and muttered Seaweed Brain fondly.
"Looks like we didn't have to say it after all." said a smug Thalia.
"Is he really that bad?" asked A.C. to Annabeth.
"No they are just teasing him, they're all really close to him." said Annabeth. "He is a trouble magnet, but its not his fault."
Poseidon got more worried upon hearing that, he decided he would ask Annabeth later. But he is fine with her dating his son as long as he is happy.
I could start at any point in my short miserable life to prove it, but things really started going bad last May, when our sixth-grade class took a field trip to Manhattan— twenty-eight mental-
case kids and two teachers on a yellow school bus, heading to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to
look at ancient Greek and Roman stuff.
"That sounds like fun." said both Annabeth's, the Athena cabin and Athena herself.
Everyone else groaned.
"Perhaps, with 28 mental case kids lots of trouble could go down." said Hermes who smirked mischievously.
"That sounds like torture." said Theseus, Orion and Poseidon. Who smiled at each other.
Thalia laughed again. Meanwhile Chiron and young Grover were thinking that the field trip is scheduled in 3 months. They were mentally taking notes of how everything was going to go.
I know—it sounds like torture.
Everyone laughed. "Like father, like son." While the three Sea people blushed.
The Futures and Poseidon all smiled knowingly too, because they now Percy heritage.
Athena looked like she got the wind knocked out of her.
"He doesn't think that way anymore, he actually enjoys going to museums." said a defensive Annabeth.
"Only with you there." responded Thalia. Causing Annabeth to blush crimson red. While young Annabeth turned a little pink at the thought.
Athena was glad that her boyfriend is willing to do things she loves, but she didn't like that he thought museums are torture. She was going to have a conversation with him about the importance of them.
But Mr. Brunner, our Latin teacher, was leading this trip, so I had hopes...He also had this
awesome collection of Roman armor and weapons, so he was the only teacher whose class didn't
put me to sleep.
"HE SLEEPS IN CLASS." screeched Athena. "HOW CAN YO-"
"MOM, he doesn't sleep in class anymore I made sure of it." said Annabeth
"Not to mention teachers care so little for students they think are trouble they don't bother to help them." mumble most of the demigods including some of Athena's children.
This made Athena feel guilty, she is supposed to be the goddess of wisdom. Yet she didn't know the struggles of her own demigods in school. She was going to find a way to fix that problem soon.
"Good job then Annabeth." said Athena who smiled at her favorite daughter.
I hoped the trip would be okay. See, bad things happen to me on field trips. Like at my fifth-grade school, when we went to the Saratoga battlefield, I had this accident with a Revolutionary War cannon. I wasn't aiming for the school bus, but of course I got expelled anyway.
Everyone laughed, even the more mature people were giggling. While Hermes and Apollo were on the floor clutching their stomachs. After they recovered the decided to go and sit with their children. Then soon after the others followed suit. Hera being the only one without demigod children stayed on her throne.
Artemis joined Thalia and asked. "Why is it you and Annabeth attacked Hercules earlier?"
"Milady, Percy told us about what Hercules did to everyone that has every helped him and that he is a selfish jerk." Thalia said. "He told use how Zoe told him the story of her getting abandoned by Hercules after she betrayed her family."
To say Artemis was shocked is an understatement. "Zoe told her story to a boy?"
"Yes Milady, Percy is the only male who's gained your respect." said Thalia.
"Really...perhaps I should invite my Hunters to listen in on this story if what you say is true." said Artemis.
"I think that would be a good idea Milady." Thalia said. "I can explain in more detail how he managed it during a break if you want?"
"I would like that, I am going to call my Hunters real quick." said Artemis.
One quick call later. (its literally a signal watch).
"They'll be here shortly, you can continue." said Artemis.
Everyone quieted down from there conversations with there children. Apollo talking about music with his kids. Hermes planning some pranks with his kids, while Luke was faking his enthusiasm. Athena and her children talking about there favorite books, etc.
And before that, at my fourth-grade school,
when we took a behind-the-scenes tour of the Marine World shark pool, I sort of hit the wrong
lever on the catwalk and our class took an unplanned swim.
Everyone laughed again.
Hermes said. "Whoever has this kid lucky, HE IS AWESOME."
"I second that." said Apollo as he and Hermes high-fived.
And the time before that... Well, you get the idea.
"No no we want more." whined all the immature people.
"When we see him again we are getting more stories out of him." said Older Travis. With his brother agreeing wholeheartedly.
At this point the Hunters of Artemis showed up and were quickly caught up by Artemis and Thalia. They weren't to thrilled to be reading about a male hero, until Thalia said he gained Artemis' respect in the future. Then they seemed interested. Probably to criticize him wherever possible.
This trip, I was determined to be good.
"Now he just jinxed himself." said Jason who was being oddly quiet.
Everyone agreed with him.
All the way into the city, I put up with Nancy Bobofit, the freckly, redheaded kleptomaniac girl, hitting my best friend Grover in the back of the head with chunks of peanut butter-and-
ketchup sandwich.
Thalia angrily said "Why that dirty rotten little bi-
"Thalia language." said an equally upset Annabeth.
Grover was an easy target. He was scrawny. He cried when he got frustrated. He must've
been held back several grades, because he was the only sixth grader with acne and the start of a
wispy beard on his chin. On top of all that, he was crippled.
"Thanks Perce, only his best-friend and I get a flattering description." said Older Grover. With silent grover agreeing and planning to talk to Percy as he is currently his protector at Yancy.
He had a note excusing him from PE for the rest of his life because he had some kind of muscular disease in his legs. He walked funny, like every step hurt him, but don't let that fool you. You should've seen him run when it was enchilada day in the cafeteria.
"Way to blow you cover Grover." everyone groaned. As older Grover blushed, and young grover was pink.
"Hey, this hasn't happened for me yet." said young Grover.
"Actually Yancy has already had enchilada day multiple times this year Grover. So this would've happened." corrected Chiron.
Now both grovers are blushing.
Anyway, Nancy Bobofit was throwing wads of sandwich that stuck in his curly brown hair,
and she knew I couldn't do anything back to her because I was already on probation. The
headmaster had threatened me with death
"WHAT!" screamed Annabeth. Poseidon was silently agreeing with her, and planned to obliterate this headmaster soon.
Until Thalia said. "Can. I. Read?"
by in-school suspension
"Oh." said a sheepish Annabeth. Everyone laughed. Poseidon was thankful it wasn't death.
if anything bad, embarrassing, or even mildly entertaining happened on this trip.
"Teacher take the fun out of everything." said Hermes and Apollo. Who got bombarded with owls from and innocent looking Athena.
"I'm going to kill her," I mumbled.
"Finally story was getting boring." Ares said as he leaned forward.
Grover tried to calm me down. "It's okay. I like peanut butter."
"Don't try and stop him, it'll be boring." Ares whined.
He dodged another piece of Nancy's lunch. "That's it." I started to get up, but Grover pulled me back to my seat.
"AHHH COME ON." Ares screamed.
"You're already on probation," he reminded me. "You know who'll get blamed if anything
happens."Looking back on it, I wish I'd decked Nancy Bobofit right then and there.
"I hope he wouldn't actually hit a girl." said Artemis.
"Um, Lady Artemis." said a nervous older Grover. "He wouldn't have hit her, he just protects his friends. Not to mention Nancy was a kleptomaniac and the worst Bully at Yancy Academy. Worse than most boys at the school."
"Alright then good." said Artemis who seemed put off at the fact this girl was as annoying as a boy. But otherwise accepted as fact, because she just read about her.
In-school suspension would've been nothing compared to the mess I was about to get myself into.
Poseidon paled. While all those who knew Percy groaned.
Mr. Brunner led the museum tour...It blew my mind that this stuff had survived for two thousand, three thousand years.
Athena started "Long-"
"We know Longer, can we just read please." said a nervous Poseidon but managed to hide it well.
He gathered us around a thirteen-foot-tall stone column with a big sphinx on the top...because it was kind of interesting
"He finds interesting, and Annabeth isn't even there." said a surprised Thalia.
Who got lightly punched in the shoulder by said person.
but everybody around me was talking, and every time I told them to shut up, the other teacher chaperone, Mrs. Dodds, would give me the evil eye.
"But he is trying to learn, is this was you demigods mean by bad teachers?" asked Athena.
"Yes Mother, even I had some teacher like this." said both Annabeth's.
Mrs. Dodds was this little math teacher from Georgia who always wore a black leather jacket,
even though she was fifty years old. She looked mean enough to ride a Harley right into your
locker.
"I see nothing wrong with this teacher." said Ares. Who got a heel thrown at him by an annoyed Aphrodite.
She had come to Yancy halfway through the year, when our last math teacher had a
nervous breakdown. From her first day, Mrs. Dodds loved Nancy Bobofit and figured I was devil spawn.
"Puh-lease, that is Nico." said Thalia. Nico being the mature 12 year old he is, stuck his tongue out at her.
She would point her crooked finger at me and say, "Now, honey,"
Hades and Nico realized this is Alecto. Nico was shocked his first monster was a Fury, he knew he had a run in with her because she won't shut up about getting to kill Percy Jackson one day. But he never knew that she was his first monster.
Hades was praying that the boys father wasn't powerful because he was going to be in a world of pain if he was.
real sweet, and I knew I was going to get after-school detention for a month.
"That sucks, a whole month?!" said everyone.
One time, after she'd made me erase answers out of old math workbooks until midnight, I told
Grover I didn't think Mrs. Dodds was human. He looked at me, real serious, and said, "You're
absolutely right."
"Nice job Grover." said everyone. They all knew Mrs. Dodds was a monster at this point. But which one, and Grover had the decency to look sheepish.
He wondered how everyone was going to react, he figured Percy would get mad at him if he said something. Especially to Annabeth or Sally, they would freak out. He just needed to hope he didn't go into detail describing the monster.
Mr. Brunner kept talking about Greek funeral art. Finally, Nancy Bobofit snickered something about the naked guy on the stele, and I turned around and said, "Will you shut up?" It came out louder than I meant it to.
"Of course it did." said Annabeth fondly. Then silently said. "Seaweed Brain." with a small smile on her face.
The whole group laughed. Mr. Brunner stopped his story.
"Mr. Jackson," he said, "did you have a comment?"
My face was totally red. I said, "No, sir."
Mr. Brunner pointed to one of the pictures on the stele. "Perhaps you'll tell us what this
picture represents?"
"Bet he doesn't recognize it." said Nico.
"50 drachma say's he does Nico." said a confident Annabeth.
"Hey lets all get in on this bet." said Hermes.
"Unless you know the answer." added Apollo.
Everyone had there bets in. Those that bet against him are Nico, Thalia, Jason (because he thinks he is an idiot), young and old Travis and Connor, y/o Katie, Pollux, y/o Clarrise, y/o Chris, Zeus, Ares, Dionysus, Hera, Apollo, Hermes, the Hermes cabin, the Apollo cabin, the Ares cabin, the Demeter cabin, and half of the Hunters. (Remember the cabins are visiting because it winter solstice.
Those that bet on Percy to get it right are y/o Annabeth, Sally, Paul, Frederick, Helen, the twins, Hazel, Frank, Reyna, Gwen, Dakota, Poseidon, Athena (because she trusts her daughters judgment), the Athena cabin (for the same reason), Artemis (she would respect a complete idiot), half the hunters for the same reason, and everyone else because they believe in Percy or Annabeth's judgement.
I looked at the carving, and felt a flush of relief, because I actually recognized it. "That's
Kronos eating his kids, right?"
"Told ya so, EVERYONE PAY UP!" said a smug Annabeth.
Everyone else was grumpy for losing so much. While Athena was impressed with the boy so far. He seems to mean a lot to Annabeth so perhaps she would approve. But will wait before making a decision.
"I have a question for the romans." said Annabeth. "How come you guys beat for Percy to get it right."
It was Hazel who spoke up. "Well we learned not to underestimate Percy very early on when he arrived, which was about a week ago."
"Really what did he do, and...um...does he remember anything?" Annabeth asked very nervously almost not wanting to hear the answer.
"I will answer the first question first." said Reyna. "He showed up to our camp being chased by two gorgons, Medusa's sisters. He then crossed the river with an old lady in his arms set her down, and managed to drown the gorgons. He then tore apart the Field of Mars were we host our War Games. He single handily beat our best two cohorts each with 80 demigods in them at least. So he along with Frank and Hazel won the game."
"I also would like to add that when he first showed up...I thought he was a Roman god in disguise." said Hazel. "He just radiated the power of one, and definitely has the looks of one. But I look up to him like an older brother so don't get upset."
She said that as Annabeth was reaching for her knife.
"Yes, and to answer your second question. He does remember you, in fact he never forgot you Annabeth. I asked him if he remembered anything from his past life, because it was obvious he was not from near our Camp. Then he described his girlfriend, which to be honest made it sound like you were a goddess. So you don't have to worry about him forgetting you anytime soon." Frank said.
Hearing this Annabeth had the biggest smile on her face, not to mention as red as a tomato. She silently vowed to herself that the second she see's him she is tackling him with millions of kisses. She wouldn't care if people saw it too, she just wanted her Seaweed Brain.
"As for the rest of his memories, he got the back on our quest in Alaska." said Hazel
This snapped Annabeth out of her daydream of Percy. "WHAT!" she screamed.
"WHY WOULD HE BE IN ALASKA, THE LAND THE GODS CAN'T REACH!" screamed Annabeth
Upon hearing this Poseidon paled at the thought of him in Alaska, but so did everyone else. Even young Annabeth was worried and she hadn't even met Percy yet, young or old. He also wondered what he was doing at the Roman camp. He'd ask later.
"Um...it was a quest...can we get back to reading please, I can explain everything in more detail later." Hazel said quietly.
"Yes," Mr. Brunner said, obviously not satisfied. "And he did this because ..."
"Well..." I racked my brain to remember. "Kronos was the king god, and—"
Zeus opened his mouth to speak, but was interrupted.
"Wait, Chiron will correct him." said a worried Annabeth thinking about her Seaweed Brain in Alaska.
"God?" Mr. Brunner asked.
"Titan," I corrected myself.
"See." said Annabeth still worrying out of her mind.
"And ... he didn't trust his kids, who were the gods...and so there was this big fight between the gods and the Titans," I continued, "and the gods won."
"Well that works I guess. Missed a lot but it is what happened." said Athena
"He left out all the good parts, this punk sucks." said Ares who was glared at by everyone in the room that knew Percy, or those that were warming up to him.
Some snickers from the group.
"He got it right though." said an annoyed Athena.
Behind me, Nancy Bobofit mumbled to a friend, "Like we're going to use this in real life.
Like it's going to say on our job applications, 'Please explain why Kronos ate his kids.'"
"And why, Mr. Jackson," Brunner said, "to paraphrase Miss Bobofit's excellent question,
does this matter in real life?"
"Busted." said Apollo and Hermes who did a quick high-five.
"Busted," Grover muttered.
"Ahhh we think like a GOAT!" whined Apollo and Hermes.
Everyone laughed at them.
"Shut up," Nancy hissed, her face even brighter red than her hair. On that happy note, it's time for lunch.
"Ah nice use of sarcasm." said Hermes who gave Chiron a thumbs up.
Mrs. Dodds, would you lead us back outside?" The class drifted off, the girls holding their stomachs, the guys pushing each other around and acting like doofuses.
"Typical." muttered Artemis.
Grover and I were about to follow when Mr. Brunner said, "Mr. Jackson." I knew that was coming...intense brown eyes that could've been a thousand years old and had seen everything.
"He is very observant." said Athena approving of the boy so far.
"You must learn the answer to my question," Mr. Brunner told me.
"About the Titans?" said the 3 Sea people in the room.
"About the Titans?"
Everyone laughed at them again. They all went red, and smiled at each other, liking the kid more and more. Except Poseidon already loved him because he knew that this was his son.
"About real life. And how your studies apply to it."
"Oh."
"Ah the first recorded instance of his most famous answer to learning the answer to every complicated question thrown his way." said Nico. Annabeth glared at him. While the futures smiled.
"What you learn from me," he said, "is vitally important. I expect you to treat it as such. I will
accept only the best from you, Percy Jackson."
I wanted to get angry, this guy pushed me so hard.
"For good reason." mumbled Annabeth getting more sad about Percy not being here.
I mean, sure, it was kind of cool on tournament days, when he dressed up in a suit of Roman
armor and shouted...despite the fact that I have dyslexia and attention deficit disorder and I had never made above a C— in my life.
Athena started. "WHA-"
"Mother, he doest make anything below an B+ now." said Annabeth getting defensive of her Seaweed Brain again. "It's for two reasons, one is Paul got him into a really good high school, and he is his English teacher so he can help. But I also help tutor him."
"Wonder what happens during those tutoring sessions?" asked Thalia while wiggling her eyebrows at Annabeth. Who became as red as a fire engine.
"Read!" she squeaked.
No—he didn't expect me to be as good; he expected me to be better...Mr. Brunner took one long sad look at the stele, like he'd been at this girl's funeral.
"He is very observant, I imagine he had been at her funeral." said Athena.
He told me to go outside and eat my lunch...watch the foot traffic along Fifth Avenue...a huge storm was brewing, with clouds blacker than I'd ever seen over the city...I wouldn't have been surprised if this was a hurricane blowing in.
"Wonder what Dad and Uncle P are mad about this time." said Apollo. Who was pointedly ignored.
Athena was silent trying to figure it out.
Nobody else seemed to notice. Some of the guys were pelting pigeons with Lunchables
crackers. Nancy Bobofit was trying to pickpocket something from a lady's purse...
"Yours?" Apollo asked Hermes.
Hermes shook his head. "Nope she wouldn't be trying, she'd have already done it." His children grinned at hearing this, while Luke scowled. Believing that this was a facade.
Grover and I sat on the edge of the fountain, away from the others. We thought that maybe if
we did that, everybody wouldn't know we were from that school—the school for loser freaks who
couldn't make it elsewhere.
"Didn't work." said older Grover.
"Detention?" Grover asked. "Nah," I said. "Not from Brunner. I just wish he'd lay off me sometimes. I mean—I'm not a genius."
"You will be quiet if you know what's good for you." Annabeth said in a threatening tone.
Poseidon smiled, happy that she really cared for his son. For when he isn't here to defend himself, she does it because she loves him.
Aphrodite was silently squealing every time she defended him. 'True love' is what she thought. Maybe even soul mates, she would need to wait for both of them to be in the same room to figure that our though.
Grover didn't say anything for a while. Then, when I thought he was going to give me some
deep philosophical comment to make me feel better, he said, "Can I have your apple?"
Everyone laughed, while both Grover's turned a bright shade of red.
I didn't have much of an appetite, so I let him take it.
"Are we sure this is Percy, his stomach is a bottomless pit." said Thalia. Annabeth rolled her eyes.
I watched the stream of cabs going down Fifth Avenue, and thought about my mom's
apartment, only a little ways uptown from where we sat. I hadn't seen her since Christmas. I
wanted so bad to jump in a taxi and head home.
"Mamma's boy." mumbled Ares quiet enough so no-one heard.
She'd hug me and be glad to see me, but she'd be disappointed, too. She'd send me right back to Yancy, remind me that I had to try harder, even if this was my sixth school in six years and I was probably going to be kicked out again. I wouldn't be able to stand that sad look she'd give me.
Everyone smiled, this was the Percy they knew and missed.
"The punk is a mamma's boy, he is a wim-" Ares got cut of by Aphrodite hitting him with her and bag and heels.
"WOULD YOU SHUT UP, HE LOVES HIS MOTHER. THAT IS SO CUTE, AND YOU ARE A JERK." screeched Aphrodite. It took 3 minutes to calm her down and for everyone to get their hearing back.
Mr. Brunner parked his wheelchair at the base of the handicapped ramp. He ate celery while
he read a paperback novel. A red umbrella stuck up from the back of his chair, making it look like a motorized cafe table.
All of a sudden the entire Hephaestus cabin was interested in writing in there notebooks, and their father looked proud.
I was about to unwrap my sandwich when Nancy Bobofit appeared in front of me with her
ugly friends—I guess she'd gotten tired of stealing from the tourists—and dumped her half-eaten
lunch in Grover's lap.
"I am going to kill her." said Thalia. Annabeth silently agreeing again.
"Oops." She grinned at me with her crooked teeth. Her freckles were orange, as if somebody
had spray-painted her face with liquid Cheetos.
"That I did not need to know." said everyone. Aphrodite turned several shades of green, and Hephaestus got her a paper bag to breath with. She looked at him with thankful eyes. Part of her wondering if she messed up by dating Ares.
I tried to stay cool. The school counselor had told me a million times, "Count to ten, get
control of your temper." But I was so mad my mind went blank. A wave roared in my ears.
'A wave' thought all the gods.
I don't remember touching her, but the next thing I knew, Nancy was sitting on her butt in the
fountain, screaming, "Percy pushed me!"
Mrs. Dodds materialized next to us.
Some of the kids were whispering: "Did you see—"
"—the water—"
"—like it grabbed her—"
"POSEIDON THIS IS YOUR BOY!" Zeus screamed.
Poseidon calmly replied. "Yes he is my son, but you have no room to speak since two of your children are in this room right now."
"BUT YOU BROKE TH-" Zeus was interrupted by Poseidon.
"Yes I broke the oath brother, but I do not regret my actions. He is my son. Also from what we heard about the future you should be thanking my son, after all your daughter is no longer a tree because of him." countered Poseidon.
"It's true dad, you will not harm Percy Jackson, otherwise you will doom Olympus to a terrible fate." said Thalia. "As annoying as Kelp Head might be, he is still my brother and he will be your best chance for Olympus to survive the Great Prophecy." Upon hearing this Jason felt a stab of jealousy course through him, he is Thalia's brother not Percy."
"What do you mean daughter, you are Jason can be the child of the prophecy?" Zeus offered.
"Father we are from the future the Prophecy has already been completed, and Percy Jackson is responsible for preserving Olympus." Thalia said loudly.
Upon hearing this all the gods were shocked, the younger campers were beginning to like Percy a lot. They hope when he shows up they can all be friends.
Young Annabeth is as shocked as anyone else. First she learns her boyfriend is a son of Poseidon. Secondly she learns that he single handedly saves her sister, and Olympus. She decided to ask her older self about him later, because aren't I supposed to hate him.
But seeing how much her older self is in love with him, he might be more like his mother instead of his father. Athena was thinking the same thing as her young daughter, and decided to not cause a seen even if she was a little upset at the revelation.
Hades was mumbling about how he was the only one who didn't break the oath.
"I am going to start reading again." said Thalia.
I didn't know what they were talking about...Mrs. Dodds turned on me. There was a triumphant fire in her eyes, as if I'd done something she'd been waiting for all semester. "Now, honey—"
"I know," I grumbled. "A month erasing workbooks."
"That is not what you were supposed to say." whined Hermes and his kids.
That wasn't the right thing to say.
"To late now...boys make sure you give him some lessons when he gets to camp okay." said Hermes.
"You will not!" said Annabeth defiantly. With young Annabeth nodding her head in agreement.
"Come with me," Mrs. Dodds said. "Wait!" Grover yelped. "It was me. I pushed her." I stared at him, stunned. I couldn't believe he was trying to cover for me.
"Thanks Grover." said Annabeth still sad Percy isn't here.
"Don't mention it Annabeth." said Grover with a small smile.
-I gave her my deluxe I'll-kill-you-later stare.
All people who had seen it shivered, except for Annabeth because she knows when she sees it. It isn't directed at her.
Ares noticed this. "Bet mines worse." He glared. But they just raised an eyebrow.
"It's scarier than my Dad's." said Nico.
Everyone raised there eyebrows at this.
"How come you didn't react that way Annabeth?" asked Poseidon who was proud of his son.
She shrugged. "It has not bite when he does it to me, because I know he'd never hurt me."
Athena thought some more, maybe he isn't that bad. Just have to wait and see.
Then I turned to face Mrs. Dodds, but she wasn't there. She was standing at the museum entrance...I went after Mrs. Dodds.
Poseidon audibly groaned.
Halfway up the steps, I glanced back at Grover. He was looking pale...but Mr. Brunner was absorbed in his novel.
"Chiron." Annabeth complained.
I looked back up. Mrs. Dodds had disappeared again. She was now inside the building, at the
end of the entrance hall...Except for us, the gallery was empty.
"No witnesses, get outta there kid." said a worried Hermes who liked Percy so far. Most people nodding in agreement.
Mrs. Dodds stood with her arms crossed..."You've been giving us problems, honey," she said.
I did the safe thing. I said, "Yes, ma'am."
"Huh, learn somethin' new everyday." said Thalia. Annabeth glared at her. She shrugged in response.
She tugged on the cuffs of her leather jacket. "Did you really think you would get away with
it?"
'It' thought Athena. Then she connected the title of the book to the fighting between Zeus and Poseidon and now this. She gasped. The futures looked up begging her to stay quiet, she obliged.
The look in her eyes was beyond mad. It was evil...I didn't know what she was talking about.
Thalia started. "When doe-"
She was punched by Annabeth a little harder this time, sending the silent message 'shut up thats not true.'
All I could think of was that the teachers must've found the illegal stash of candy I'd been
selling out of my dorm room.
"Uncle P your kid rocks!" said Apollo and Hermes together. Causing Poseidon to beam at his two ridiculous nephews. Theseus, Orion, and Perseus were also smiling, liking their brother/cousin more and more.
Or maybe they'd realized I got my essay on Tom Sawyer from the Internet without ever reading the book and now they were going to take away my grade. Or worse, they were going to make me read the book.
"He read it now mother I made sure of it." said Annabeth
Thalia replied. "How'd you get him to read it?" wiggling her eyebrows. Causing Annabeth to blush bright red, and younger Annabeth to go a little pink. Everyone laughed.
Athena sighed. 'At least he read the book' she thought. She was going to quiz him when she saw him though to make sure he actually read it.
"Well?" she demanded...Her jacket melted into large, leathery wings. She wasn't human. She
was a shriveled hag with bat wings and claws and a mouth full of yellow fangs, and she was
about to slice me to ribbons.
Everyone was silent for a minute. Hades was glancing nervously at Poseidon who was staring right back at Hades with a look that said 'you are not making it out of this room in one piece'. He got up silently fuming, and everyone was just watching him waltz across the room to Hades. When he was almost there he yelled. "YOU SENT A FURY AFTER MY 12 YEAR OLD SON!" He was about to punch him right in the snout. Then he was pulled back by Apollo and Hermes who were struggling to hold him back.
Frank decided since he was a descendant of Poseidon he would tell him Percy is ok. "Um, Lord Poseidon." Poseidon stop briefly and looked at his descendant with kind eyes. "Percy is Alive, I don't know if he gets out this unscathed since I only just met him. But he is far from dead."
This seemed to settle down Poseidon and he sat back down. But still sending a deadly glare to Hades. Who was trying not to get scared from it. 'What my brother is scary when he is angry' thought Hades.
Then things got even stranger. Mr. Brunner, who'd been out in front of the museum a minute before, wheeled his chair into the doorway of the gallery, holding a pen in his hand.
"What ho, Percy!" he shouted, and tossed the pen through the air.
"A pen? Is he going to write on the Fury?"asked Jason in a slight mocking tone. Hercules caught it and laughed.
"Right, he is pretty pathetic for a hero. Chiron is probably going to shoot it with his bow." said Hercules. Jason smiled at his brother who smiled back. While everyone else glared at them.
Thalia was shocked that her brother could act like this. Piper and Leo were confused, from what they heard about Percy he is nothing but nice. He didn't deserve to be mocked.
Mrs. Dodds lunged at me. With a yelp, I dodged and felt talons slash the air next to my ear. I snatched the ballpoint pen out of the air, but when it hit my hand, it wasn't a pen anymore. It was a sword—Mr. Brunner's bronze sword, which he always used on tournament day.
Jason and Hercules' jaw dropped to the floor.
"THAT IS SO COOL!" said Leo. "IT'S LIKE JASON'S SWORD BUT CAN HIDE IN PLAIN SIGHT." He immediately started writing stuff down in his notebook.
Jason felt another stab of jealousy. That made him angry, but he kept quiet.
Mrs. Dodds spun toward me with a murderous look in her eyes.
My knees were jelly. My hands were shaking so bad I almost dropped the sword.
"Wimp." said Ares. Who got attacked by Aphrodite's other heel. While Jason and Hercules silently agreed.
She snarled, "Die, honey!" And she flew straight at me. Absolute terror ran through my body. I did the only thing that came naturally: I swung the sword.
"Naturally." Nico said. "The first thing that would come to mind if a sword just showed up in my hand is...what the hell how did a sword get in my hand. Then I would look at it." Everyone nodded.
Annabeth smirked. 'Thats my Seaweed Brain.' she thought.
The metal blade hit her shoulder and passed clean through her body as if she were made of
water. Hisss! Mrs. Dodds was a sand castle in a power fan. She exploded into yellow powder, vaporized on the spot, leaving nothing but the smell of sulfur and a dying screech and a chill of evil in the air, as if those two glowing red eyes were still watching me. I was alone.
Everyone was shocked. Except Poseidon, Theseus, Perseus, and Orion who all looked proud. Meanwhile Annabeth was wondering why he never told her, she was going to have a field day with him later about that. But decided it could wait until after she kissed him a million times.
There was a ballpoint pen in my hand. Mr. Brunner wasn't there. Nobody was there but me. My hands were still trembling. My lunch must've been contaminated with magic mushrooms
or something.
Apollo started. "Can we-"
"NO!" said all the goddesses mainly Artemis.
Had I imagined the whole thing? - Grover was sitting by the fountain - Nancy Bobofit was
still standing there - When she saw me, she said, "I hope Mrs. Kerr whipped your butt."
"Who?" said Poseidon, Orion and Theseus.
I said, "Who?"
Everyone laughed. "If we didn't know you guys were related...we do now." The 3 respective people blushed, and smiled that they think like Percy.
"Our teacher. Duh!"
I blinked. We had no teacher named Mrs. Kerr. I asked Nancy what she was talking about.
"The mist." said Athena
She just rolled her eyes and turned away. I asked Grover where Mrs. Dodds was. He said, "Who?" But he paused first, and he wouldn't look at me, so I thought he was messing with me.
"Boy give Grover some lying lessons too, while you're working with Percy." said Hermes who was glared at by both Annabeth's.
"On second thought just Grover's lying lessons." Hermes said and then gave a nervous chuckle.
"Not funny, man," I told him. "This is serious."
Thunder boomed overhead.
"Dad agrees." said Apollo.
I saw Mr. Brunner sitting under his red umbrella, reading his book, as if he'd never moved. "Percy, there is no Mrs. Dodds on this trip. As far as I know, there has never been a Mrs. Dodds at Yancy Academy. Are you feeling all right?"
"Alright done." said Thalia.
"See Chiron knows how to lie." said Hermes as he gave Chiron another thumbs up. Who just smiled in return.
"I have a question." said Poseidon. "Where is my son and what happened to him?"
Hazel was about to answer but then a bright light interrupted her before she could start. Right in the middle of the thrown room was...
Yay cliff hangar. Sorry, but it'll be worth it.
No its not Percy I plan on bringing in 12 year old Percy first, right after we first meet Luke. Since in this story it is going to avoid the confused school girl crush because he is 7 years older and it is just weird.
Then later before the St. Louis Arch is when I plan to bring in the Future Percy Jackson.
Don't fret I have a plan, and an entire note document on how I want the story to play out. For the first book at least.
Lets just hope I actually finish this, because I enjoy reading them but they are either short. Or unfinished. The good ones at least, and even then they aren't perfect. I hope this is a good balance. I also don't like it when people think Luke can be saved early on because I would find it inaccurate.
He is already brainwashed at this point in the story, and people that are brainwashed are really hard to convince. Thalia couldn't manage it in the actual story so it won't work earlier. Not to mention Annabeth's efforts to convince him are also fruitless because it takes luke jumping into the river sticks to realize he messed up.
Anyways enjoy. Never thought I'd end up writing one of these tbh.
