Chapter 4: Gifts of betrayal
It was mid-day; Kagome lay sprawled out in the tall grass of a nearby hill. It had been four days since the incident and she had finally been able to convince her bat companion to take her out "looking for herbs" so she could make more medicine for the undeserving fox. She barely felt upset anymore, only numbness remained. Kuronue helped, She seemed to be spending more and more time with him over the past week and he started to open up to her more. The wind rustling through the grass and flowers was so soothing. Kuronue sat by her side allowing the breeze to flow through his loose hair.
"I've never allowed myself to get this close to a human before. Its almost scary how easy you are to become attached to Kagome." He sighed.
"Well we all aren't terrible. We're not all like those monsters that slaughtered your clan." She replied sadly sitting up and combing her fingers through his silky hair. Kuronue blushed and began to fidget awkwardly as she laid her head on his shoulder,
"You know Kuro, being stuck here isn't so bad with you around."
When they returned Youko was sitting drumming his fingers on his knee impatiently. "Took you both long enough." Kagome chose to ignore his comment and went to her room to grind up her newly acquired herbs. Youko followed close behind her. It took all of Kuronue's willpower not to pull him away and tell him to back off. This girl in strange clothing just came into his life and turned his entire world upside down. Youko... His best friend, had already claimed her as his own. What was a bat to do?
Youko walked up behind Kagome and pulled her hair to one side and over her shoulder. Bending down, he kissed her exposed flesh gently. Shivers ran down her spine and made the hairs on her arms stand on end.
"Go away." She managed to choke out.
"I can't do that Kagome." Her back was against his chest and he wrapped his arms around her pulling her tighter against his body. "I'm sorry about what happened. I'm happy you chose to save me and I was wrong to force my power on you again." He purred. "You're my favorite special treasure and I should be treating you that way." He turned her around to face him as he pulled out a sparkling white gold chain with a matching white gold moon pendant with the most beautiful sapphire she had ever seen set inside of it. Youko clipped it around her neck and stared down into her beautiful, flushed face. "I know someday you will grow fond of me Kagome." with that he turned and left her trembling and confused as to what exactly just happened.
Youko walked out into the foyer happily whistling to himself. Kuronue eyed him suspiciously which Youko answered with a smile.
"Whats up?" Kuronue asked. Youko grinned and simply said "I fixed it."
Kuronue scratched his head confused and shrugged. "Okay then." Youko sat next to his friend and began to eat an apple he brought back from his patrol. "I'm going to Gandara to seek out Yomi. That dog needs to learn a lesson for poisoning me." Youko growled. "It will take a total of six days to complete the trip, I trust you can keep an eye on Kagome for me? This is much too dangerous to risk taking her with me... just make sure she doesn't run away again."
Kuronue nodded. "Sure everything will be fine." With that Youko packed a quick essentials bag and left. Kuronue jumped up and went to check on Kagome. He found her sitting on her bed rolling the moon pendant between her fingers.
"Mind if I come in?" She heard the bats voice come from her door.
"Of course Kuro." She replied quietly. He came in and sat next to her.
"I just came to make sure that you were okay. Youko left, he will be gone for six days."
"Where's he going?" She was confused. He never leaves for that long.
"He's meeting up with a friend of ours that is lord of the Southern lands right now."
Kuronue's attention moved to the pendant hanging from Kagome's neck. "He gave you a gift?"
"I guess so." Kagome said shrugging. "I feel like he's just toying with me now." She sighed, laying back on her bed. Kuronue laid beside her and offered his arm. She smiled and cuddled up to him, laying on his chest and pet her head. A long silence passed before Kuronue lifted her chin and kissed her sweetly. Kagome closed her eyes and kissed him back, butterflies instantly filling her stomach. He rolled them over, so he was leaning over her. Kagome took the invitation to wrap her arms around him and pull him closer. Her skin was on fire. She could feel Kuronue's hardness on her thigh. She tentatively reached down and ran her fingers up his length, gaining a groan from Kuronue. He grabbed her dainty hands with his rough, clawed ones and pinned them over her head.
"Don't start something that we both know we shouldn't finish." Kuronue said panting lightly with need. He let her go, sitting up with his face resting in his hands.
Kagome pouted at him. "Doesn't mean you had to stop kissing me."
Kuronue fought back his urges and swallowed his pride. "I don't want to, not yet anyway. It's not right, you mean way too much to me for me to just take you like that."
"I'm sorry Kuro." Kagome said resting her head on his shoulder.
"It's okay." He smiled at her. "Besides, I have a gift for you too." He said reaching into the pouch that he kept tied to his waist. He took out a black chained bracelet with red stones hanging off of every few links. "These are blood rubies. They come from the caves that my family and friends used to reside in. These have a powerful enchantment on them which allows the wearer to communicate emotions to the person that gave it to them." He clipped it around her wrist. "Now I'll know if you're in danger or upset. I've decided to court you Kagome. I can only hope you choose me over Youko in the end... Which I fear won't have a pleasant outcome."

It was the morning of the fifth day. Kuronue nuzzled Kagome's cheek, waking her from her peaceful slumber. He'd been able to stay with her all night since Youko left and her warmth was intoxicating. He'd become completely addicted to this woman. Stirring slightly, she mumbled "Five more minutes." He smirked at her cuteness before wrapping her in his arms and taking in her sweet aroma. She always smelled like pears and vanilla. Kagome kissed his cheek and opened her eyes.
"Good morning." She yawned. They stayed laying in each other's arms for quite some time before Kagome became curous to what his reaction would be again. She climbed on top of him, straddling his waist. She had never been with a man before. She got close with Inuyasha, though he would freak out and run away every time. Kuronue's eyes widened before he put his hands on her hips and gave her an inquisitive look. "What are you doing?"
"Nothing." Kagome said innocently leaning down and gently nipping at his jaw, then neck. Kuronue closed his eyes and breathed in her alluring scent before feeling himself get hard again, Kagome grinned when she felt it under her and moved her hips, creating delightful friction. Kuronue growled and lifted her off of him "You're not being nice."
Kagome pouted again. "I was just having a little fun."
That afternoon, things seemed to go by slower than usual. Like they were stuck in time and it was surreal. Kuronue had taken Kagome out for a picnic and to a village for some shopping. She got a silk blue cherry blossom print kimono with a pink sash and some sake for them to share.
Later in Kagome's room,
Kagome hiccuped as she drank another glass and smiled drunkenly at the barely buzzed bat.
"Don't give me that look! This stuff is strong for a girl like me." She poked his chest with her finger and he scoffed at her. Kagome laughed and threw her arms around him, knocking him back on her bed. Her lips crashed onto his and he wrapped his arms around her midsection. He pulled her down on top of his chest and tangled his fingers in her hair, beginning to tug at the Kimono's sash with the other hand. The kimono slid off her shoulders, revealing her bra. Kuronue put his claw under the band between the cups and pulled, ripping it in half and it too fell off of her perfect breasts. Kagome groaned in protest.
"Kuro! That was my favorite bra."
Kuronue smirked and took one of her nipples in his mouth, nipping at it gently. Kagome threw her head back and pushed her chest out further. He reached down and rubbed her through her panties.
"Kuro, I want you... Right now."
Kuronue stopped, snapping out of it and looking at her with lust filled eyes. "No, I can't. Not just yet."
Kagome pouted and looked away from him, wrapping her untied kimono back around her naked body. Kuronue began to feel guilty about teasing her like that and sighed, grabbing her ankles and throwing them up over his shoulders. Kagome squeaked, surprised at his sudden roughness as she fell back onto the bed. Kuronue stopped at her panties and again used his claws to shred off the offending garment. He plunged his tongue roughly into her and flicked it repeatedly over her sweetest spot.
Kagome gasped and crossed her legs behind his head so hard, she thought her thighs were going to crush him. Grabbing a fistful of his hair, she moaned his name loudly. Kuronue continued to eat her out roughly. Kagome's body shook with her orgasm and her legs released him of their vice grip. Kuronue stood and wiped his mouth on the back of his hand before plopping back down next to the breathless girl. "Feel better?" Kagome nodded contentedly and laid down on his chest. Kuronue chuckled. "Glad to hear it."
The sun finally set, Youko walked in the cave with Yomi. Kuronue luckily enough, had sensed them coming in time to leave Kagome's room and sneak into the washroom without being noticed. He quickly washed off and put on new clothes before going walking to the main lobby to greet his partners.
"Kuronue, good to see you again." Yomi said, slapping him on the shoulder.
"I trust you had no issues?" Youko asked, raising an eyebrow.
"No problems. She was fine and she's actually sleeping right now." Kuronue reported.
"A woman?" Yomi grinned
"Yes, my woman." Youko warned. Yomi apologized for even thinking any different and sat in front of the fire. Kuronue grabbed a piece of fruit from the bowl and sat with them so they could both hear Youko's plan.
"It seems the half breeds group is still close. They've asked Toshin Raizen and the wolf tribes for assistance. The half demon is accompanied by a demon slayer with a giant throwing weapon, a large cat demon and a mediocre monk. I've been tailing them with Yomi and we found where theyre staying. We attack tonight."
Kuronue scoffed. "They're Kagome's friends. Don't you think she'll be pissed at you for that?" He tossed the apple core into the fire and glared at Youko.
"She doesn't need to know, Just like she doesn't need to know about all the humans you killed on our last trip.." With that Youko got up and left them there to check on Kagome.
She was asleep in a pair of warm fuzzy pajamas. Youko growled and clenched his fists. The entire room reeked of arousal.
"Wake up!" He yelled. Kagome jumped up and found herself being yaked up from bed and onto her feet in front of a very angry Youko. "What's going on between you both?"
"Nothing." She lied.
"Don't lie to me. I can smell him all over your room and your arousal."
Kagome blushed and looked at her feet, choosing to stay silent.
"You don't deserve her you know." Came a voice from the door.
"Get out Kuronue, If I were you, I'd fly very, very far from here." Youko said coldly.
Kuronue shook his head. "No, and you need to put her down." He growled drawing his weapons.
"You know you don't stand a chance Kuronue." Youko said dropping Kagome on her bed and diving at the bat. Kuronue blocked him with his blades and kicked him off to the side.
"Kagome! Get out of here!" He yelled over his blades. Kagome nodded and took off running past them as Kuronue had Youko pinned to the floor. Youko kicked Kuronue off of him, slamming him hard onto the cave wall. A jagged rock that had been sticking out of the wall tore a hole into his wing. Kuronue screamed in agony before swinging his blades at Youko, who easily dodged them and called up his plants to bind Kuronue where he stood.
"You'll regret this bat." He said before taking off running after Kagome.
When he got to the front entrance, Yomi was in a heap on the floor. Pink purification power was crackling around him. He groaned as Youko ran passed him and onto the mountain trail. Sniffing the air as he ran, he looked for her.
"Looking for me?" Kagome said from above. Youko looked up to see Kagome flying on top of the large cat demon that was traveling with her friends. She was lucky that Kirara sensed her and came to her aid so fast.. She had an arrow pointed at his heart. It crackled with energy and began to swirl with purification.
"The others must be close, Kirara sensed me coming. Now give me one reason why I shouldn't kill you right now." She yelled. Youko didn't answer, instead choosing to glare at her. She released the arrow, changing its target and pinning him to the side of the cave through his shoulder. She pulled out another arrow and shot him through the other side to make sure he wouldn't follow her for quite some time.
"Let's go Kirara!" The cat roared in response and took to the skies, leaving the stranded kitsune behind.
Kirara landed four hours later in front of the bone eater's well.
"It's too risky to stay here right now. He will come looking for me. I'll come back soon." Kagome said, scratching a quick note in the dirt for her friends. "I'm going the one place he'll never be able to find me."
With that she gave Kirara a hug and jumped down the well.
