Spyro: The Hero of Avalar

Ripto arc Episode five: Spyro's Curse

Rock music played and a male voice was heard singing the main theme of the story, Spyro, with Spyro and his friends shown one by one with each guitar string, and the guitar played harder with Spyro dodging Ripto's wand blasts and breathing fire at him. "Spyro! He's a kid and he wants to get home, (Elora is shown to be sneaking around some of Ripto's forces to get a Talisman) and Avalar needs a hero, to beat Ripto's dome. (Hunter is shown to be spinning a Talisman on his finger before being chased by Crush and Gulp) Spyro! With power from his head to his tail, (Moneybags is shown to be shaking his money bag to a clearly annoyed Spyro) he'll be there and evil won't prevail."

Flame, Ember, and Cynder were shown working together to get Spyro back home. "When evil's breaking pace, (Sawyer is shown to be overpowering Ripto) he gets right in it's face, Spyro. (Spyro is shown to be struggling to control the pin in his forehead) When trouble comes for shock, (Spyro shakes the headache off and is then shown flying at Ripto) it's time; let's rock, (Spyro punches Ripto and makes the screen change to him and his friends standing with each other as Spyro: The Hero of Avalar is shown with Spyro standing confidently in front of it, Sparx laying right on top of him, Hunter on the O at the end of Spyro, Elora standing next to Spyro with a smile, Nigel and Melinda walking in next to the word 'Hero' as Cynder kissing Spyro on his right cheek, making him smile) Spyro!"

Ember was arriving home late at night, and as she walked down the street, she thought about how Spyro and Cynder were feeling right now. She was beyond worried about them since she found out where Spyro was, and that Cynder had gone through the exact portal they needed to go through to find him by herself. Of course, if Sawyer wasn't involved, they wouldn't have have this problem. And her problems only got worse, because as she opened the door, her mother was waiting for her by the front door. "There you are, Ember! Your curfew was an hour ago!"

Ember sighed, closing the door and not having the right mood to deal with her strict mother. "I sent you a call earlier, mom. I can't arrive in time for curfew while Spyro's out there."

"Honestly; it's for the best you can take a break from that infernal brat. He's nothing but a bad influence on you; nothing good to offer." Ember's mother responded bitterly, making Ember furious as she then threw her backpack at her mother, making her enraged herself. "Ember! What has gotten into you!?"

Ember flew up and got into her mother's face, stunning her by the fact that she was flying, and that she looked this angry in her presence. "What's gotten into me is that two of my best friends are stuck in a world we know nothing about, and you're standing around bad mouthing the best friend I've ever had! (Starts tearing up) And I could end up losing the only one who ever helped me because you made dad move away and never bothered to help me yourself!" Ember's grief was clear as day. The next words however, struck her mother hard. "I hate you!"

Ember stormed up to her room, leaving her mother heartbroken by what her daughter had just said. Had she truly been that harsh on her? She didn't even know what to say in response. The fact that Ember was already in her room didn't help. Ember got onto her bed and started crying silently as she grabbed a picture she had of herself and Spyro from the first year they spent as friends. The two of them went to the carnival after another one of her mother's outbursts, and Spyro knew exactly how to cheer her up. A tear dropped into the middle as Ember only thought about one thing regarding Spyro.

His life was in danger.

Meanwhile, Spyro and Cynder were explaining to Elora and Hunter who Sawyer was, and Elora was recapping what they told her. "Okay, so... Sawyer is Spyro's brother, and he teamed up with this guy named Gnasty Gnorc to cause chaos all over the Dragon Realms. You guys were looking for Spyro's father when this went down, and then after you learned who Sawyer was, and found out what he was up to, you eventually tried to stop him. And Spyro took him on in a one on one battle, but lost, and that's how he ended up in Avalar, and met us in Glimmer."

Spyro nodded his head yes, and it was clear that he felt bad for lying to Elora, which she then commented on. "That's a lot to take in. I'm guessing that's why you tried to cover it up."

"Nailed it." Spyro admitted, and then he contemplated what Sawyer was capable of, trying to keep his cool as he remembered all of the pain Sawyer caused him since birth. "Somehow he'd killed our mother the moment we were both born, and when I finally met her as a ghost... he killed her again, rendering the chance of me getting to know her impossible." Spyro held back his tears with Cynder putting a palm on his shoulder as he spoke more about hat happened. "He's the one who put the pin in me. If I take too long to cure it's poison... I'll die."

Elora and Hunter felt awful for Spyro as they listened to what he had to say. Hunter had some choice words about Sawyer as he commented on what he did. "I never thought a kid could be that sadistic. (Looks at Spyro) Whatever he's planning... there's no way everything he's doing to get there can be worth it."

Spyro had to agree with that, even though he didn't reply. He then continued talking about how he felt regarding Sawyer. "I agree. I just don't know if I'll have the power to finish him." Spyro looked over to Crush, still being distraught over how hard he went on him during the battle. "That wasn't me. I couldn't control myself once the pin kicked in. That alone makes me despise Sawyer." Spyro clenched his claws as he lamented on the situation. "But everything else he's done makes me hate him even more than I've ever hated anyone before. Especially regarding our mother."

Spyro held back his tears the best he could as he made it clear that he showed how conflicted he was about killing his own brother. "Still. To kill my own brother... after I just killed one of his right hand's henchmen in cold blood." Even though Sawyer was as evil as they came, Spyro still didn't know if he had the heart to kill his own family. He didn't consider Sawyer personal family or anything, but he knew they were blood related. "Would killing my own family... make me as bad as him?"

Cynder, Elora, and Hunter weren't entirely sure what to say about that. They knew Sawyer deserved the worst fate possible, but what would killing him personally do to Spyro? Cynder was the first to speak, hoping she knew what to say. "I can't say I know what that's like, but just know... I'll always be there for you, Spyro. I won't let you fall into despair if it gets close." Spyro was grateful for that, and nuzzled Cynder gently, despite still feeling despondent. He could only hope that this wouldn't be the defining moment of his downward spiral.

Spyro and the others were explaining the situation to Nigel and Melinda, and the former was less than pleased. "Let me get this straight, Spyro. You hid the truth about your relations to Sawyer from my daughter, and even worse, you have this pin in your forehead that could cause you to have an outburst of rage at any point?" Spyro nodded his head yes with Cynder standing next to him as the guilty dragon took the words. "You've endangered us by coming here, Spyro! Now we're in greater danger than before!"

"I'm sorry; I didn't come here willingly!" Spyro tried to explain, and Nigel listened as the dragon explained himself. "After Sawyer defeated me at the top of Gnasty's castle, I just woke up in Glimmer without a clue as to where I was. The last thing I ever wanted to do after that is hurt anyone in Avalar."

Nigel wasn't convinced that Spyro was safe to be around. The description of how he acted towards Crush made that too hard for him to believe. "Intention of it or not, that's what you're risking at the moment. Your very presence could end up being a danger to us all! The way you killed Crush proves that, even if he was working for Ripto."

Melinda was about to step forward to confront her husband, only for Elora to beat her to the punch. "That won't be the case, dad." Nigel allowed his daughter to speak, and as she did, she made it clear that she still trusted Spyro. "I get it. You're mad that Spyro lied to me, and his pin could be a danger to everyone. But he was transported to a place he knew nothing about, and had no idea what the residents there were like. The last thing that should've been on his mind was that we'd offer him our help without hesitation."

Elora then showed a look of determination to save Avalar, making it clear that she was willing to do whatever she could to make it happen. "You don't have to like Spyro, dad, but we do need his power in order to save Avalar; you know this. When Ripto first arrived in Avalar, you fought him for three hours straight and still lost." Nigel looked back on that day and sighed. He knew Elora was right. "And I know we've only known Spyro for a day, but I have no doubt that he's trustworthy. I'm holding up my end of our deal."

Nigel knew he couldn't talk Elora out of this; and that even if he could, it would lead to disastrous consequences. He still held distaste for Spyro, who gave him a look that made it clear he was ready to fight if he had to. He decided to trust him for now however, and stated what they would have to do next. "The next location we have to venture to is the Autumn Plains. We will rest for now, and as soon as we awake tomorrow, we'll eat breakfast, and venture to the Autumn Plains castle."

Spyro and Cynder were ecstatic to hear that with Cynder assuring Spyro that this was a good thing. "This is it, Spyro. We're gonna get closer with each passing day, and we'll stop Sawyer and Ripto yet!"

"Sure seems like it." Spyro replied with more optimism than before, and then he yawned a little, having to admit that sleep felt great right about now. "And honestly, sleep does sound great after all I did today." The rest of the group laughed with Nigel and Melinda watching as Melinda put a trusting hoof on Nigel's shoulder. She knew it was hard, but she also knew he would make the right calls to protect Avalar. Even if it meant working with someone he didn't trust or like.

Elora was guiding Spyro and Cynder to her room as she told them about why she had more than one bed in there. "It's a good thing I have two beds in there, just in case my parents wanna have another kid one day." Elora then came to realization about something and looked to Spyro and Cynder as she grabbed onto her door handle. "You two are okay with sharing a bed, right?" Spyro and Cynder nodded their heads yes, making Elora relieved as she opened the door. "Okay good."

When Spyro and Cynder got a look at Elora's room, upon entry, they saw that it was a big room with lots of stuff in it, including a gaming system. Spyro got a look at the gaming system and walked over to it instantly as he commented on it. "You're a gamer too!? I haven't played video games in weeks!"

"I only really play when I'm holed up inside." Elora explained, and as she walked over to Spyro, he got a look at her gaming library and saw that it had lots of games on there, from platformers to RPGs. More than he expected actually. "I do like video games, but I spend a lot more time doing stuff outside, in the garden, or, because of what's been going on lately, helping to stop Ripto."

"Whatever floats your boat, sista!" Spyro exclaimed, and then he chose the game known as 'Angel May Die: Scooter's Awakening!'. He knew this was gonna be a blast for him, especially since he knows the fourth game is coming out. "I learned that the fourth game is coming out soon during my journey through the Dragon Realms, so I think it's best to freshen up my skills. Starting with the beginning of Scooter's journey!"

Elora sat next to Spyro and watched with Cynder sitting next to him as well while commenting on video games. "I guess giving video games a shot wouldn't be too bad of an idea. I was so focused on other stuff, along with my lightning magic, that I never took the time to get into them."

"Then let me introduce you to Angel May Die, the best gaming series out there!" Cynder smiled while leaning on Spyro's shoulder, allowing him to play his game as the opening cutscene came up and showed a black wolf with a blue underbelly and a star on his right eye answering a phone call with one line in particular.

"Sorry. Not open for business yet."

Spyro, Cynder, and Elora were getting ready for bed with Elora running through the plans one more time with the two dragons. "Alright, you two. I know we've done this a couple times now, but I want to make absolutely sure you both know what to expect from tomorrow. (Looks at Spyro) Spyro. What are we doing first thing tomorrow."

"Tch. I thought you were gonna give me a HARD one." Spyro boasted, and then he answered the question for real. "Tomorrow, we're gonna stuff our face with some breakfast grub, and then make our way to Autumn Plains."

Elora nodded in response with a proud smile, glad that Spyro was keeping up. Cynder then spoke up about an idea she had for Autumn Plains. "I was thinking; maybe Spyro and I could explore the different worlds of Autumn Plains at the same time. That way, we can cover more distance and keep Sawyer and Ripto from getting any more Talismans."

"That's brilliant, Cynder!" Elora responded cheerfully, knowing that this would give them a decent advantage against Sawyer and Ripto. "Even if we can't stop them from getting EVERY Talisman in Autumn Plains, the increase in the chances to at least try to stop them from getting more is worth it."

"Exactly." Spyro chimed in, and then he playfully scratched Cynder's chin while praising her. "And I know you're gonna do great out there, baby. I can feel it."

Cynder giggled softly as she pointed out how basic her idea was. "It was a pretty standard idea. Pretty much anyone could've come up with it."

"Yeah, but it was still YOU that came up with it this time. That's what matters to me." Spyro assured Cynder, not caring about how basic the idea was so long as it helped. "Besides. If covering ground is the way you're gonna help, then so be it." Cynder smiled as Elora giggled softly, making sure to turn the light off as they all lied down and got ready for bed. They were gonna need a lot of sleep for tomorrow.

The next morning, Spyro and the others were eating breakfast with Spyro proving himself to be quite the glutton. Cynder was already familiar with how much he could eat, but everyone else was amazed by what they saw. He'd already eaten three portions of food, and Melinda couldn't help but be pleased. She was glad to see someone enjoying her cooking. She was however, stunned when Spyro let out a loud burp and put his plate down. "Any chance there's more for your knight in shining armor?"

Elora looked to Cynder, who shrugged with a sheepish smile as Melinda took his plate and went to get him some more. "Coming right up, Spyro. I think you just might be my biggest customer yet."

Spyro laughed a bit in response to that as he then chugged down a bottle of cherry soda, leaving Nigel to observe him and find that he was quite the slob. Spyro let out an even louder and longer burp after that, which caused Hunter to start laughing as Cynder rolled her eyes while smiling and Elora cringed in disgust. As Spyro accepted Hunter's hi five, Nigel expressed disgust for his sloppy eating. "You seem much more... relaxed, after yesterday."

Spyro turned to Nigel and had to admit that he was right. He was much more upbeat than he was yesterday evening. "I guess I'm just more focused on moving forward with the mission right now. It wouldn't help to just lament on what happened yesterday for too long." Spyro's mouth then started watering as he saw his next portion of food coming to the table. "Plus, this food is amazing."

Melinda set Spyro's next serving of food down, and as he thanked her and started eating, Elora made a request to her father regarding the purple dragon. "Please, just try to work with him, dad. You don't have to like Spyro, but you can at least learn to work with him as a team."

Nigel nodded to Elora, indicating that he would try his best, which Hunter let Spyro know about when leaning over to him. "That's King Nigel for 'I'll do my best'."

"Yeah; I caught onto that, Hunter. Thanks." Spyro snarked, and then he got back to eating and continued to enjoy himself while he could. "I don't know if this is genetic with parents, Melinda, but between you and MY own mom, it seems the parents cooking is the best place to go!"

Melinda was flattered, but was quick to assure Spyro that good cooking wasn't genetic amongst all parents. "I'm glad I could please you with my food, Spyro, but I can assure you that's not the cast." (Give a sly grin to Nigel) Nigel here almost burnt down the kitchen once with a poorly constructed recipe."

Nigel flinched upon the mention of that, and knew he couldn't deny it, so he gave Spyro an idea as to what happened. "My palette is... more for tasting than cooking."

"Ah." Spyro got what happened that day and went back to eating. He was also glad to know that Nigel wasn't a completely stuck up jerk. Just enough to possibly classify as one.

Back in the Artisan Home, Ember was sleeping in a little later than anticipated, and when she heard buzzing, she awoke and started searching for the culprit. She quickly discovered that it was he phone and grabbed it from her bedside table. When she looked at it, she saw that it was Flame, and she answered it to see what he needed. "Hey, Flame. Why're you calling me so early?"

"Because it's 9:15 in the morning." Flame informed Ember, who looked at her alarm clock and saw that Flame was right as the dragon asked what was going on. "Your mom ground you or something? I thought you said you left her a text."

"I did. Sorry, I overslept." Ember explained, still being shaken up by her fight with her mom last night, and also how she was coping with the Spyro and Cynder thing. "I guess I just didn't feel like getting up. The whole Spyro and Cynder being in another world thing, along with my mom saying that it might've been a good thing, I've been dealing with a lot lately."

"Dang. Sorry to hear that." Ember started to contemplate what she was dealing with in her life, and she didn't even hear that Flame was still talking. The pink dragon could only think about what she was feeling about the whole situation. She decided to at least try to be more laid back. And just then, her stomach growled. Seeing as no one was around, she set her phone down and clenched her fists, closing one of her eyes as well while moving the right side of her butt and...

BRRRRRRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUP

...a five second fart that reeked of rotten eggs covered the bed and surrounded Ember, who then remembered Flame was on the line when he spoke up. "Whoa-ho! That sounded like a ripe one!"

"Hehe. Yeah. Probably not as good as Spyro's, though." Ember admitted, and then she caught her new odor and laughed a bit as she commented on it. "I'll be at the castle in a bit. I need a shower."

An area with an autumn vibe was shown with Spyro and the others going through a big teleporting pad that was on the ground in front of the castle. Spyro and Cynder got a good look at the place and found the area to be just as beautiful as Summer Forest, but in it's own way. It was crisp, calm, and full of wondrous vibes that nature would adore not matter the scenario. Spyro then got a look at the castle and looked to Elora with a question on his mind. "You own two castles!?"

Elora giggled a bit, wishing that were the case. "I wish. Hunter's parents rule this place. We met when they visited Summer Forest."

Hunter then chimed in as he filled Spyro in on something else. "They're also totally cool about me not wanting to take the throne. My brother recently started training to take my place."

Spyro started to remember Flame upon the mention of Hunter's brother. He could only imagine what he'd been feeling at this time. He decided to use this to bond with Hunter rather than to sulk about his problems. "I have a brother too. Two of them actually. One of them came with me on my adventure through the Dragon Realms."

"That's pretty cool." Hunter replied, walking off with the others as he talked about his own brother. "My brother, Archer, is pretty similar to how I am. Laid back, not very confident in our strength, and up for anything that sounds like fun. Key difference is that he's better with responsibility than me."

"I'll keep that in mind for when Cynder and I get married." Spyro jabbed at Hunter, implying that he'd let Archer help with the festivities instead."

"Oh! It's like a dagger in my heart!" Hunter jokingly responded, and the two boys laughed with Cynder and Elora smiling. They both loved seeing their favorite boys bonding. And in Cynder's case, she knew Spyro needed this more than anything.

Spyro and the others arrived at the Autumn Plains throne room where three cheetahs resided; two who looked to be in their early fifties, and one who looked to be a young adult. The young adult cheetah instantly noticed Hunter and ran up to him with excitement. "Hunter!"

Hunter accepted the cheetah's hug, and it was then revealed that this was his brother when he spoke his name. "As upbeat as ever I see, Archer. Hope mom and dad haven't been TOO hard on you with this whole royal throne business."

Archer gave a thumbs up of reassurance as Spyro commented on Hunter's family when he saw how friendly his parents looked. "Guess the friendly surfer thing runs in the family."

"It's probably the only thing that DOES run in the family." Hunter's father responded jokingly, and then he spoke to Nigel, knowing why he came to the castle on such short notice. "If I had to guess, Nigel, this is the dragon Hunter told us Elora was looking for."

Spyro confidently pointed to himself with his thumb, leaving Nigel to groan silently at the sight of his ego before responding. "Yes. This is Spyro. He came from the Dragon Realms on the accord of his evil twin brother, Sawyer."

Cynder then spoke up, hoping that Hunter's family could help them out. "We were hoping you could help us stop him and Ripto. Now that the two of them have become a team, it'll be even harder to take them down. Especially since Ripto apparently has henchmen."

"We'd love to help, but Ripto with a partner sounds like a tough battle." Hunter's mother chimed in, feeling that they would need more power if they wanted to stand even a chance at winning the battle. "We'll need as many Talismans as we can gather before we take them head on, and even then there's no guarantee we'll win. Do you guys have any so far?"

Spyro took out his guidebook and showed Hunter's parents the Talismans he had. They were concerned when they only saw four of the six Summer Forest Talismans in there. "Sawyer and Ripto got their hands on the other two. Sawyer is the name of my 'evil twin brother' by the way."

Melinda spoke up herself, hoping to shed some optimism onto the situation. "I doubt they've started getting the Talismans here, however. There are at least eight in Autumn Plains, right? Spyro and Cynder offered to look for them while we tend to the castle defenses, so we have more of a search party than originally planned."

Hunter's parents looked at each other with Hunter deciding to chime in after hesitating a bit. As he spoke up, he showed a sense of bravery that surprised Elora. "Maybe I could help them look too? I helped Spyro get the one in Aquaria Towers. And even if I don't find any Talismans, I can still get plenty of orbs to use instead."

"Perhaps I could also help with the search." Archer offered, and he then held out a crossbow and showed it off as he spoke up about his skill with it. "I should at least be able to wipe out some of Ripto's minions with my weapon of choice."

Spyro got a look at the crossbow and had to admit that he was impressed. He'd never seen anything like it before. The dragons back home usually settled for bows and arrows. "So THIS is what a crossbow looks like." Archer was glad to see that Spyro was impressed, and even more happy to see him asking questions about it. "Does it really shoot faster than a regular bow and arrow?"

"Well, that would make it a sharper option." Melinda joked, and the bad pun resulted in her, Spyro, and Elora laughing as Archer put his crossbow away. Everyone in the room was very certain at this moment that they were going to work great as a team, and hopefully get more Talismans by the end of it.

Sawyer and Ripto were back in Winter Tundra as Ripto was shouting in pain, which was then revealed to be from Sawyer's flames. He was only being burnt at the feet, but it was still enough to cause him pain with Sawyer asking about why Ripto failed the mission. "So you failed the mission because Crush got mutilated in the battle he had with Spyro, and you didn't think to have your other minions stall them before you could break into that vault?"

"I had to think fast, Sawyer!" Ripto objected, believing that the option he chose was in fact, the best out of all of them. "I couldn't just send my basic minions after someone like Spyro! If he was able to give the best henchmen you had in the Dragon Realms trouble, then there's no telling what he could do to them!"

Sawyer sighed and snapped his fingers, causing the fire to vanish, which led to Ripto sighing with relief and wiping his forehead. Sawyer then spoke of Spyro's power to Ripto so he knew not to underestimate him. "Spyro isn't someone you should go easy on, Ripto. When I tried to kill him back in the Dragon Realms, he got right back up and came at me with an insane amount of power, full of rage and violence." Sawyer glared into Ripto's eyes, making him look in fear as Sawyer spoke clearly and coldly. "Don't let him being my brother stop you from killing him."

Ripto nodded in response with Sawyer pulling up his orb with his palm and revealing Spyro and the others to be in Autumn Plains. "Autumn Plains. A crisp, calm area. And very friendly to nature." This alone told Sawyer that he and Ripto had to act fast with the next part of their plan. "You said there were eight Talismans in this homeworld, right? Travel to the first world that crosses your mind, find whoever their leader is, and make him give you the Talisman as they die trying to defend it."

"Of course, Sawyer!" Ripto assured Sawyer, and the he asked what he should do if he sees Spyro or Cynder. "What should I do if I see one of the dragons?"

"Defeat them and return with the Talisman, or escape if you have to." Sawyer informed Ripto, not wanting him to disappoint him again. "I know you have the power needed to please me." Ripto nodded his head yes in fear and got ready to teleport to the first land on his mind. Before he did, Sawyer stood next to him and told him of another thing he felt would help his plans. "I just remembered. It would be beneficial if I were to see every area in the Autumn Plains so I can teleport there myself. We'll have to go to one place together until then."

"I'll send us to the other worlds as quickly as I can!" Ripto assured Sawyer, and then he teleported off to the first world he could think of.

Spyro and Cynder were getting ready to go into two separate portals; Spyro for Seklos Badlands, and Cynder for Crystal Glacier. The two of them were right beside each other as they talked about how they were handling being in Avalar so far with Cynder starting the conversation. "I know we've only been in Avalar for a day now, but it already feels like an eternity, being somewhere we don't know as well as our home."

"Tell me about it." Spyro replied, knowing fully well what Cynder felt there. And he was here for about an hour or so longer than her too. "I can't say I haven't enjoyed some of the stuff we've done here so far. Elora clearly cares about this place enough to risk her life defending it. I like that in a girl. One who's determined to achieve their goals."

Cynder had a feeling Spyro would be glad to see that in her as well. She didn't have any goals yet, though, and she made that clear. "If I ever get any goals in my life, I'll be sure to let you see my own determination. I think you'll find it quite satisfying to watch."

Spyro knew he'd like that, and then he started thinking about what he and Cynder were gonna do when they got back. He still felt bad about how he and Ember's last interaction went, and he wanted to give her the closure she deserved. He also knew that Flame was worried sick about him, as well as the rest of his family. And he couldn't go back to the others with his pin. "Will we get rid of my pin by then? I don't know if I can go back if I'm risking their lives."

"I'll do everything I can to help you work through that, Spyro." Cynder assured Spyro, and she was as tender and loving as she could be when she said it too. "I'm not gonna let this pin kill you. Even if we're back by tomorrow and it still hasn't been cured yet, I'll work endlessly on the last night we have to save you." Spyro was beyond touched to hear that. He knew Cynder was someone he wouldn't wanna blow it with. "I love you, Spyro. Honest, fact."

Spyro and Cynder shared a brief and tender kiss and looked into each others eyes for a couple seconds before going to their portals. They both thought the same thing. That the two of them were going to survive this mission, and that they were going to make it home to their friends and family, with everything going for the best. At least they both hoped that was the case. They were gonna try to avoid it, but the thought of failing couldn't help but cross their minds. They were gonna try their best to stay optimistic about the whole ordeal.

As Spyro went through his portal, he arrived in what looked like a prehistoric looking land with cavemen, dinosaur eggs, and lava enemies. He wasn't quite sure what to make of the place yet, as he'd read some stuff about dinosaurs and heard a lecture or two about it in school, but he'd never seen it up close before. In fact, he didn't even know a place like this still existed. As he looked around, he saw that it had some similarities, like the obvious ones, the cavemen and the dinosaur eggs. But then a scorch from behind made him flinch to something he didn't expect. "Youch!"

Spyro looked behind himself after dusting the scorch off of his tail and looked to find a cheeky looking fire wizard a few feet away from him. The wizard laughed as Spyro observed him and instantly realized that he was the culprit. "Fire wizard, huh? They didn't talk about YOU guys in history class." Spyro started chasing the fire wizard down, causing the fire wizard to attempt to escape. As he launched another fire ball at Spyro, Spyro dodged and lunged at the wizard before he started carrying him.

Spyro started flying while holding the wizard and held him over a cliff, much to the wizard's fright. "You gonna back off, buddy?" The wizard nodded yes fearfully, and Spyro went back to the land before throwing the wizard down. "Good. Now beat it. I've got business here." The wizard did as Spyro requested with Spyro getting ready to start exploring Skelos Badlands in an attempt to find the Talisman there. When he got a look at the dinosaur eggs, he sensed that one of them was hatching and headed on over to investigate. "Let's see what these dinosaurs actually look like."

Spyro went over to the egg that was shaking, and out hatched a meowing cat and bat hybrid; much to Spyro's confusion. "That... is NOT a dinosaur. Did something get lost in translation there?"

To be continued
