The two Ultimates exited the hotel to go on a walk around the microcosm.

"It's abnormal for you to worry like this, I thought that you trust Byakuya more than I do." Kyoko said.

"I didn't want to involve our students in this. He proposed Kirumi to go with me at first but I instantly refused. Now he ignored my statement." Naegi told.

"You chose me over the Ultimate Maid? That's quite an honor." She appreciated.

"That's not because of- I mean- that's n-not the case. My point is that I am responsible for them and at the new Hope's Peak safety comes before anything else. It's our top priority right?" Makoto questioned.

"Yes, but Togami already sent our student to us so we can't stop his plan now. You'll tell him off when we'll all be safe." Kirigiri proposed.

"Tell him off? Why would he even care? You were right about him, he's unpredictable and does whatever he wants!" He shouted.

The people around stared as the two friends argued in the middle of the hamlet.

"You better save your stress for the night." Kyoko advised trying to calm him down.

"..Sorry, I should be yelling at him right now, not at you." Naegi sighed.

"You're really trying hard to be a better headmaster than my father aren't you?" She asked.

"Huh, why do you bring this up?" Makoto questioned.

"Not even two weeks in the new school passed and you already treat your students like your own children." Kirigiri pointed out.

"It's not that is just, your dad was great at his job. But I desire to be more. I want to be their hope." He told.

"I have a feeling like they already admire you, and I'm not surprised. Winning two killing games is quite an achievement." Kyoko highlighted.

"T-that's not what I mean, I don't want to be seen like this, rather like their support, someone who is there to help.. Besides, I didn't win the games by myself. Without you it all wouldn't go well, to say the least." Naegi stated.

"I could say the same for you." She looked at her friend.

"No Kiri, the truth is that you deserve all the credit. I don't know why people see me as the leader when it's actually you.." Makoto pointed out.

"You didn't have much time to get to know your students right? Just gave them a few speeches and now they probably think you're some god of hope who left them to save the world." Kirigiri said jokingly.

"Well, I didn't plan on it turning out like this." He rubbed his head. "God of hope you say? Even though you're joking Nagito seems to treat me like one for some reason."

"What do you mean?" Kyoko asked.

"He always hits me up when he gets a chance and acts all weird and nervous. From our conversations, I can deduce that he's obsessed with hope and truly believes in luck, especially in his, weird kind of luck.." He told.

"In my opinion, we should stop the lottery for ordinary students. Luck is not a talent, it doesn't exist." She stated.

"You may have a point but, it wouldn't make sense if I broke the tradition. I joined the academy that way after all." Naegi pointed out.

"Fair enough." Kirigiri stopped as they reached the end of the small village. "So it's not called a fort for no reason." They saw two runways and several medium warehouses in the distance.

"It looks like. That means that all the equipment will go to the despairs since we literally invited them here. And by the way, now I realized, what about the villagers? Do we just flee like some cowards and look at them getting captured because of us? We don't even know what could happen to them. W-we can't follow his plan!" He shouted.

"We'll have to sacrifice a hundred to save millions." Kyoko stated.

"No! We need to tell them. They can escape, there is still time!" Makoto argued.

"They won't understand Makoto, they probably don't even know what happened to the world." She denied.

"But it doesn't-"

"It's a known military base. It would get captured sooner or later since the situation here got out of control." Kirigiri assumed.

"Ugh, damn it!" He picked up a rock and threw it ahead with all the force of his body, which made him almost trip.

"Don't blame us or Byakuya, we're helpless." Kyoko put her right gloved hand on his left shoulder. "Even If we somehow managed to explain it to them they wouldn't want to leave their peaceful estate. They would rather fight with the weapons they have here which would just result in bloodshed."

"You're telling me this because you don't want me to grieve." Naegi supposed.

"..If you have better a plan than Byakuya's, I will follow it." She promised.

He looked down, placed his hand on hers, and took a deep breath. "...I want to see what's in the warehouses." Makoto looked back at her.

Kirigiri slightly nodded to express that wanted to go with him.

After a few minutes, they reached the closest hangar.

"No use, it's closed." He said after flipping the handle of the backdoor.

"Step back." Kyoko waited for her friend to follow her order and kicked the rusty entrance with her black thick sole sneaker.

"Oh wow.." Naegi spoke out as he saw the door swing wide open. "Wouldn't want to get hit with that kick." He chuckled a bit nervously and entered the building with his former classmate.

"Surprised? I already told you I can defend myself." She glanced over at the contents of the warehouse, which were two military trucks, a few questionably functional rifles, and several pale cream vests as well as some old metal tools.

"I certainly have no doubt about that from now on." Makoto stated.

"So you didn't believe me until I showed you." Kirigiri crossed her hands.

"Um, I- I just didn't think that someone so cute could-.." He instantly turned scarlet after he realized what he had spoken out loud.

"Deceiving me again huh?" Kyoko said trying hard to keep her natural cold voice and slowly brushed her already dry hair aside.

"You still mad about that? It was like, t-two years ago heh." Naegi awkwardly rubbed his head.

"No Makoto, I was never mad about it in the first place." She smiled looking at the floor, without realizing that she is playing with a lock of her hair.

"Oh um, I- I'm glad then." Makoto supported himself against the truck. "..Phew uh, this hangar could really use some air conditioning am I right?"

"Mhmm." Kirigiri muttered.

He gulped. "A-anyways, I think that I have a plan, a pretty good one."

"I'm all ears." Kyoko said.

"I just need to check one thing.." Naegi walked over to a metal chest, kneeled down, and opened it. "Jackpot."

"Assuming that this plan of yours includes grenades, I think that I will have to talk you out of it." She said after glancing at the container's contents.

"Hear me out." Makoto got up. "When they arrive, I'll lure them out of their cars and then you throw the nades at their vehicles. Afterward, the outbursts will cause everyone to rush out of their houses and go to the warehouses to hide the women and children, while the men take up arms and go into battle."

"So, you basically plan on doing a bloody shootout?" Kirigiri questioned.

"N-no of course not. As they come back with the guns I'll surrender to the despairs to prevent that from happening. Then we will just wait for the Ultimate Special Unit to knock the enemy soldiers out." He clarified.

"Why would I blow up their cars then?" Kyoko asked.

"To alarm the entire village. From that point, we'll just have to ask Byakuya to translate a few sentences for us and tell the residents to get the hell out before reinforcements arrive and raid their hamlet. Simple as that." Naegi explained.

"There's a lot of things that could go wrong with this." She stated.

"I know Kiri. But it's our best chance to save everyone." Makoto told.

"I will agree to execute this crazy idea, but only if you adjust it to my corrections." Kirigiri accepted.

"Alright, let's not waste time and move the grenades over to our hotel. You'll tell me about your adjustments when we get there." He proposed.

"And how are we going to carry this crate while staying unseen?" Kyoko questioned.

"Hm, well that's a good question... Actually, there's one way that comes to my mind, heh." Naegi rubbed his head.

She looked at her friend suspiciously "..No way, I'm carrying you this time."

"But w-we'll look unnatural." Makoto nervously spoke out.

"No excuses." Kirigiri grinned. "Lie down."

Her friend sighed and as soon as he got down on the floor, he was picked up.

"This is so embarrassing.. Why do I, somehow like it though.." He thought while looking away.

Kyoko crouched in front of the chest. "Come on."

"Right.." Naegi began taking the grenades and putting them under his shirt. "aH, Ah, h-how do they get so chilly?"

"They're probably being cooled down during nighttime." She deduced.

"aH- yeah, could be.. Alright, six should be enough. Let's just do this quickly." Makoto requested.

"I'll try." Kirigiri smiled and walked out of the hangar with her friend.

"What's so funny?" He asked after noticing her grin.

"I can't believe you agreed to this." Kyoko told.

"Me neither..." Naegi looked away in embarrassment.
