As the video loaded Makoto fast-forwarded to virtual Junko's death. He didn't notice anything he didn't remember until he saw the moment when he and his friends exited the Neo World Program. Kyoko's leaving sequence was unusual, before disconnecting and returning back to the real world a weird glitching progress bar appeared in front of her. After about two minutes it reached one hundred percent and said "Upload completed". That's when the virtual world collapsed and Kirigiri's capsule opened.
"Kiri? A-are you alright?" Naegi offered his hand to help her get up.
"I'm fine." She grabbed his hand and slowly stood up while rubbing her eyes with her other glove because her vision was blurred and distorted.
"Whoa um, you sure?" Makoto asked while helping her to keep her balance.
"I'm just a bit dizzy." Kyoko replied.
"It's probably normal considering what just happened." Togami assumed.
"I think that there was some glitch before I left, but I feel better already. We should go." She proposed.
"Okay then.. What a relief that Junko is now gone for good." Naegi smiled.
Knowing that the four-eyes might come back anytime Makoto began fast-forwarding the video and looking for anything suspicious. After celebrating by eating supper with her friends, Kirigiri returned to her ship stateroom, changed her clothes, and lay in her bed.
"Seems like that guy was lying.. Of course he was." Just when he wanted to exit the video player, a familiar voice sounded from the device's speakers.
"Hi Kiri, I hope that you won't mind me joining you on this hopefully long night. I was wondering if you would want to investigate the hopeful body of mine~" Junko said trying to imitate Makoto's voice.
Kyoko recognized the Ultimate Despair's voice and immediately rolled aside and jumped out of her bed to grab a knife from a plate that was lying on a table.
"Aww that's cute, you gonna kill me with this?" Enoshima asked in her Kawaii persona.
Kirigiri turned on the lights while keeping her eyes on the intruder.
"That's me again!" She cheered and sat up on the bed. "Wait! Don't call for anyone if you don't wanna be seen as some crazy bitch. I'm dead don't ya remember? Duh, I died two times! You're paranoid!"
"Let's see." Kyoko grabbed a fork off the table and threw it at her persecutor. It flew through her like she was a ghost.
"Surprised? Scared? Oh don't worry I was just joking! You're not mentally ill, you really do have me in your head, physically! I mean, me installed onto your brain if that makes sense to ya." Junko got up. "Anyways uh, I'm not here to make you despair or stuff like that, this bitch in front of you is officially retired! You can treat me as your, friendly spectator!" She smiled with her eyes closed.
Kirigiri was a fast thinker so in just a few seconds she came to the conclusion that Enoshima is, unfortunately, telling the truth. She really did somehow upload herself into her mind.
"How can I get rid of you?" She questioned in her cold voice.
"You can just go ask Kamukura for help. And lose your job, and your social status by the occasion. I mean, who knows what Junko fucking Enoshima can do to one's mind right? You could be seen worse than a remnant!" The Ultimate Despair told.
"I'll find another way then." Kyoko ignored her and lay back in her bed.
"Acting all tough huh? It's no use, I can see all your thoughts. That's right, I'm the first person who'll see what Kyoko Kirigiri herself really thinks! So hyped!" She cheered.
The Ultimate Detective sat up on her bed, took a piece of chocolate from the nightstand with her slightly shaking hand, and lay against the wall with closed eyes.
The screen went dark but Naegi could hear her friend biting the candy and breathing deeply.
"Browsing through Mrs. Kirigiri's memories? It's an invasion of her privacy, to say the least." The stranger came back and stood next to the Ultimate Hope. "Let me check if the uploading has been completed."
Makoto slowly sat down next to his friend and stared blankly at the floor. "So it's all true, and she didn't tell me..."
"She's even stronger than I thought. It must be super tough to keep such a big problem to yourself." The stranger said while typing on the machine. "It's done, I deleted the unwanted data from your friend's mind. You can disconnect her now."
As Naegi heard the scientist's words he immediately got up and gently took off the helmet of his former classmate's head. "Kiri! C-can you hear me?"
Kyoko blinked a few times before she fully opened her eyes. "..Yeah" She said in a tired voice and tried to get up.
"Wait! It's better that you rest here for a few minutes, just to make sure." Makoto stopped her by making a gesture with both of his hands and sat back down.
"Did he do anything to you?" Kirigiri looked at his friend.
"I don't think so, but I'm sure he did stuff to you." Naegi replied.
"What stuff?" Kyoko looked down at herself.
"The electrodes are his doing." The stranger told while still working on the computer.
"I- I promise I didn't-"
"I know, I trust you." She interrupted.
Suddenly the machine started beeping.
"Oops, fast heart rate." The scientist informed.
Kirigiri removed all the electrodes which caused the machine to go silent and started buttoning her shirt.
"..No Kiri, you actually don't trust me at all. You didn't tell me about Junko." Makoto accused.
Kyoko froze for a moment. "..How did you find out?"
"His device can read and display memories. I played the day of her second death. Not the last, apparently." He said with emotional pain in his voice.
"It's not about trust. I didn't tell you because I knew that if I did you'd do anything to help me. Even now I ask you not to tell anyone." Kirigiri requested. "Look at me."
"She should be gone from your head now. This guy claims that he removed her." Naegi didn't glance back at his friend because of his watery eyes. "You lived with Enoshima in your head, and didn't even tell me."
"I had special pills, they muted her for most of the time." She told.
"It doesn't matter! I can never tell if you feel good or bad, you keep your mask on even around people you know. How am I supposed to know if you're struggling with something if you don't ever want to tell me?" Makoto questioned madly.
"I don't want to bother you or Aoi with problems I can handle myself. If it went out of control I promise I would-"
"Because you didn't tell us your problem became not only yours anymore. I would never let you go with me if I knew!" He interrupted.
"What do you mean?" Kyoko asked.
"This guy.. he downloaded Junko from your head." Naegi looked back at his friend to see her reaction.
Even after hearing such bad news, Kirigiri's facial expression didn't change. "You can't believe what he's saying so easily. He probably fabricated all of this and wants to blackmail us. Besides, even we don't have technology capable of downloading data from the brain. It's a bluff."
"I really hope so." He replied in a worried voice.
"Why don't you come with me and find out for yourselves?" The scientist offered.
"Don't act like we have a choice." Kyoko answered coldly.
The Ultimates stood up and followed the stranger to the metal double doors.
The room they entered had steel walls painted a bit bluish black. It was smaller and much tidier, almost squeaky clean. While the previous space had mostly big industrial machines, here the two friends could see smaller equipment like three-dimensional printers, laser welders, and tall transparent storage boxes containing precise tools. Again, they didn't find any windows, only air conditioners in the ceiling.
"Kiri, i-is this a torture room?" Makoto questioned quietly after noticing a futuristic surgery table with metal arms which were holding weird implements.
"Unlikely. But even if it is, try not to show fear." She whispered.
The stranger stopped by a big closed metal chamber in the middle of the room. It was connected from the floor up to the ceiling. "In just a moment you'll see something truly beautiful. Something I worked my entire life for. It is indeed, a perfect masterpiece. A literal work of art."
"Just open it already." Kirigiri commanded.
"I can't understand why you're not excited. You have no idea how honored you are to-"
"My partner is not a fan of wasting time and neither am I so, will you?" Naegi interrupted trying to sound confident like his former classmate.
"Fine then. Without further ado, you shall now feed your eyes with perfection." He replied and pressed his thumb on a control panel standing in front of the mysterious capsule.
The device scanned his finger and shined with green light. Afterward, the black metallic walls of the chamber began to lower down into the floor.
