(Disclaimer: I do not own A Monster In Paris; just my OC.)
(Authors Note: Hello dear readers and fellow writers! If you can't already tell, this is my first Monster In Paris FF, so please don't hate. I recently discovered this movie and I instantly fell in love with it! In truth, I think Lucille and Raoul's romance was a bit rushed at the end. Regardless, I decided to go from there and add my own character to the story as I was struck with a wave of inspiration shortly after watching the film. Feel free to leave a comment and enjoy!)
Chapter 1
Six months after the whole 'Monster in Paris' incident, Francœur was no longer seen as the monstrous creature people portrayed him to be. Sure, there were still those who saw him as something of an oddity here and there, but for the most part, he was accepted into Parisian society. Since his first performance with Lucille at L'Oiseau Rare, he had received much praise for his musical talents and was now her stage partner. His voice melded with hers and their choreography was effortlessly flawless.
At the moment, the giant flea was compiling a new song on the piano while Lucille was busy getting ready for her date with Raoul. After confessing their love for one another, their relationship quickly blossomed and while Francœur was happy for them, he sometimes felt disheartened that he had no one to call his own. He fully understood the meaning and concept of love, but as a giant flea, he knew that was a luxury he could never possess. With a sad sigh, he mentally shook his head of such disheartening thoughts before a soft *knock, knock, knock* came at the door:
"Oh honeybee, I have a surprise for you. May I come in for a moment," Aunt Carlotta's voice sounded from the other side of the door, to which Lucille gave a smile.
"Come in."
Upon stepping inside the dressing room, the older woman regarded Francœur with a smile as she approached her niece with an unopened parchment, "I'm sorry to bother you both, but a letter came for us just now. It's from your cousin Madeleine."
"Oh, I was wondering when we'd hear from her again," she excitedly replied as she opened the envelope and read her letter:
Dearest Lucille and Aunt Carlotta,
I hope this letter finds you both well and in good spirits. I myself have fared better than most during these past few months; although, I must admit that I have greatly missed your company since our last visit. The chateau feels much quieter and empty without your presence and laughter to brighten the halls. No offense to Mother and Father, but they don't have much of a sense of humor, nor can they sing quite as eloquently as you, dear cousin.
With that aside, I am happy to announce that I will be traveling to Paris on the 23rd of June and hope to stay and work with you both during the summer months. Until we are reunited once more, may the sun illuminate your paths and the flowers bloom at your feet.
Yours, Madeleine
"Oh, how exciting! Our little Maddie is coming to Paris," Carlotta happily exclaimed while Lucille smiled over at her stage companion who had been listening to their conversation with curious interest:
"Oh Francœur, you'll adore Madeleine. She is absolutely wonderful and so amazingly talented," standing up from her vanity, Lucille approached the collection of framed pictures she had displayed on a nearby table before returning with one in her hands and presenting it to him. The image (while black and white) portrayed a beautiful young woman with a heart-shaped face, wearing a simple casual dress and a crown of roses atop her head. She stood amidst a field of wildflowers with a violin in her hands as she played a melody. Her long hair was captured dancing freely in the breeze as her face was adorned with a radiant smile.
Upon seeing the picture, Francœur felt his insides flutter as a warm smile lined his blue face. She was lovely. Why hadn't he noticed this particular picture before? He stared at the image and emitted a sigh before Lucille spoke up: "This was taken almost three years ago; however, she won't let anyone photograph her now-a-days."
At that, he emitted a curious chirp, to which Carlotta somberly answered, "I think that's a story best left untold. I doubt Madeleine would want us to bring it up without her consent."
"No, she wouldn't," she sighed in agreement before facing her friend once more. "Regardless, I still cannot wait to introduce you to her." At the worried look he made, she gave him a reassuring smile, "Don't worry, she's not one to judge others based on appearance. She's a very understanding and compassionate person." Her words reassured the giant flea, to which he visibly relaxed and emitted a grateful chirp.
