Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Shadows of the Freelancers. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own RvB, Rooster Teeth does.

(Insurrection Building, Spiral.)

William dodged a bullet which almost took his head from his shoulders as he chased Tex. The freelancer was good, and this fight? He longed for it. The fight was making his blood boil like it should have been doing.

However? She had to be brought down before she escaped with the case. William aimed his pistol towards her, continuing to fire as he tried his best to continue to weave in and out of traffic and her return fire.

"Damn, how do I stop her?" William questioned, counted the rounds as their casings dropped from his pistol. "Xi, give me a status update." William stated, trying to think about how to stop the Freelancer.

"The advance team has engaged their forward forces currently." Xi responded, his voice sounding more annoyed than anything. "I doubt anyone is going to stop them, they've been overpowering our teams since we started this chase." Xi added to which William was silent.

"What else is new? They don't have nearly the amount of security they need." William muttered, pausing to think about how to stop the woman.

She was too fast for him to catch, considering the fact that her motorcycle casually outmatched his mongoose? There was no way he'd catch the woman anytime soon, a fact that annoyed William, but didn't surprise the mercenary. Their security forces weren't investing in the best supplies they could afford… Despite Charon funding them.

It made him question why the chairman hadn't deployed better soldiers when he thought about it…. However? He wasn't paid to think about how stupid when it came down to it.

"Do you think you can disable her motorcycle?" William questioned as he dodged a stream of gunfire which impacted a warthog behind him.

The vehicle crashed, the bullets punching through the canopy and ending the life of its pilot. The warthog flipped over once more, exploding in a massive explosion as William continued to pursue her. William guessed this woman was probably far more than the others could handle, meaning it came down to it. he didn't really care, but he wasn't surprised at all.

"Hmm." William stated while he started to check off the rest of the options in his mind. "You didn't answer me, you know." William stated while he shook his head as Xi cleared his throat.

"No. There's too many security measures on their bike at the moment." Xi added while he crossed his arms. "You do know the odds of outmatching her in a head on fight are against you, yes? My analysis shows she's one of their better fighters, she'd crush you outside of a gunfight." Xi stated to which William shook his head.

"Can I point out we've fought Freelancers before." William stated as more gunfire was exchanged between the mercenary and Freelancer. "I'll give you one chance to surrender and end this." William added, bringing up his rifle at Tex.

The duo shared a look of determination between the duo as both started to continue down the highway. Both continued to race down as both started to exchange more gunfire, William started to aim towards her spokes, trying to force the woman to crash. Then again? He guessed that nothing would stop her short of him crashing her bike. She was determined, he'd give her that. But it made him think that she was skilled.

'If she was so good? She'd be a member of the mercenaries. She's too good for me to stop easily.' William thought as he swerved to try and smash into the woman.

Tex turned and grabbed at something strapped to the side of the motorcycle. William stared in horror once he noticed that she held a rocket launcher.

'Are you f****** kidding me?! She has a damn rocket launcher?!' William questioned as he quickly grabbed his pistol.

He fired wildly, not caring if hit so much as it knocked her off balance. He felt the mongoose swerve backwards. Xi slammed the breaks as the rocket slammed into the side of the highway, exploding and showering the entire highway with red hot metal.

"Where the hell did, she get a rocket launcher?" William asked as he blinked. "How did she get one? I don't know how to win this." William questioned Xi who let out an electronic chuckle.

"Their Freelancers, she probably got from her boss or something." Xi stated to which William was silent. "Your chances of winning just dropped below 10%. She's far too powerful to defeat. I doubt you're getting the codes back; nobody has stopped them so far." Pi added, crossing his arms over his chest.

"And you're telling me one bullet won't crash the bike?" William questioned, getting a roll of the eyes from the AI as he did so.

"No, considering that bike is custom made. It doesn't seem like shooting it will help." Xi said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "If it was that easy? Then I'd tell you to go crazy." Xi added, annoyed more then anything while he shook his head.
