"You think you're hot shit, huh?" Character Speech

'Tell me how that works out for you.' Character Thoughts

Himiko Toga was upset.

No, she was more than just upset.

She was fucking livid.

Of all the nights she could've spent out on the town satiating her usual bloodlust, she didn't expect to get a call from her boyfriend bearing bad news. Usually he'd like to surprise her with a random "I love you" call while she's stabbing someone or something cute like that. Except this time it wasn't cute. At all.

Instead, she gets a call telling her that Yuma was seconds away from getting sexually violated in her own bedroom.

All the while in the middle of bleeding her recent victim dry in one of the empty rooms of an abandoned factory.

The blonde psycho had happily answered her phone with a smile, expecting some form of happy goodnight wishes or something.

Then her deranged smile went to disbelief.

Then her disbelief turned into silent worry.

And then her silent worry went into a homicidal rage.

The unknown victim, in his half delirium state, would've said the scene was near comical. If it weren't for the fact that he was laying on his back in an empty building in a puddle of his own blood. The man wheezed as his body slowly shut down, staring up at the blonde girl who was now yelling into her phone. She was waving her dripping knife around screaming "Where is he!? I'll cut his fucking dick off and shove it up his own ass!" followed by a string of extremely vulgar swears.

Again, this would've been funny if the man wasn't terrified out of his mind knowing that he had mere seconds left to live.

Himiko growled and restrained herself from flinging her phone in a mindless rage.

She wiped most of the blood from her mouth before bringing the phone back up to her mouth.

The man on the floor couldn't process what she said, probably along the lines of where she was, and all of a sudden a large golden portal opened up in front of her. The teen girl stomped through the portal and left the man to his fate, clearly unhappy.

And she wasn't the only one.

When she stepped out of the portal, she didn't expect to pop up into the living room with Shinra standing in front of the TV. "Where is she?" Himiko didn't even hesitate. Shinra just glanced at her, unfazed by the fact that her eyes glowed a dangerous yellow and her teeth were caked with red. In other circumstances, he would've found the sight enticingly erotic.

"Locked in my room." Shinra answered.

As soon as Himiko was going to storm up the stairs, he grabbed her wrist. Any normal person would've backed up at the absolute venomous look she gave him. "Calm down. Clean yourself up first. I don't think Yuma would like seeing her Big Sis looking like she stepped out of Vietnam."

Obviously Toga looked like she wanted to argue. But she knew he was right.

To make it easier for her, her boyfriend pulled her into a hug and kissed her on the forehead. All the while avoiding getting blood on him. She calmed down after a couple of breaths. "I'm sorry... How are you feeling?" She asked gently. Between the two of them, Shinra was more capable of stowing his emotions till after a situation blows over. And considering what near tragedy could've befall his own flesh and blood... It was a bit concerning that he was still blocking his emotions even now.

"Like I should've hacked his head off with a machete instead of using a Rift."

"Is there a reason why you're not with her right now?"

Shinra sighed. "By some miracle, she fell back to sleep by the time I got home. I didn't want to disturb her." Then he poked Himiko in the forehead. "And I knew you'd be on a warpath if I didn't see you first. You'd probably kick doors down screaming for the bastard and scaring Yuma all over again. So here we are." He sighed.

"You sound tired."

"I spent the day training, playing at the beach, then chasing down a pedophile, killed 3 people and crippled someone." Shinra said with a little snark. Not only that, but it was also nearing midnight as well. "So yeah, I'm a bit tired."

Himiko tilted her head. "4 people? You didn't tell me-"

Shinra raised a hand to cut her off. "Babe, you smell like blood. Please go take a shower."

It was a soft dismissal. Her boyfriend was never really against the smell of blood and Himiko adored him for that. But there was a time and place for it. And now, it also didn't help that she was still dripping blood onto the carpet that Shinra was gonna have to clean up later. The blonde girl grumbled to herself, but did as she was asked and took a little time to wash herself up.

While she was doing so, Shinra just continued to stare at the TV. It wasn't even playing any shows. It just had television static with a quieted cackling to it. He didn't say anything. He didn't move. He didn't even want to think. He just remained there, so focused on a fuzzy screen that he barely noticed Himiko come back down the stairs.

"You're obviously not alright." She started.

Shinra kept staring, unblinking. "I'm not."

"Shinra, hun," Himiko took slow steps towards him. "Tell me what happened tonight. Don't bottle it up."

"Seconds." She heard him mutter. His fists were clenched painfully tight. "I was seconds away before he was about to tear her clothes off." Now that everything was calming down and he wasn't maiming a person, Shinra could feel himself start to shake. "I was in Neverland and... I-I wouldn't have known. I could've came back 10 minutes later and I could've walked in on a mess." It finally dawned on him just how close things could've gotten.

Seeing a grown man on top of Yuma pulled strings that Shinra didn't even knew he had.

As soon as he walked through that door, Shinra wasn't even thinking straight anymore.

Whoever or whatever had entered that room without his permission was fated to die before the sun was to come up the next morning.

"But you came back just in time, hun." Himiko cooed as she hugged him. She saw the angry tears building. "Try not to think about the what-ifs, Shinra. That future is gone. You saved Yuma tonight. That's all that matters."

"I could've made things worse."

Himiko arched a brow. "Worse how?"

"Those other two people I killed?" The blonde nodded slowly. "They were Pro Heroes. I wasn't thinking straight. Got reckless. I could've brought the whole police force down on our heads if I wasn't careful." The warper sighed as he recalled his actions. He didn't regret it. He didn't feel an ounce of sympathy to the corpses he left behind. They tried to stop him and save the offender instead of putting him down like the dog he was.

"What about the last one?"

"His manager." Shinra answered with a slight edge. "I went back to the candy shop he worked at. I thought he sent him after her, but he was pretty adamant that he didn't."

"And you believed him?"

"I took tore off both of his legs and threatened to find him if he was lying."

That got a smile out of Himiko. "Good boy."

Shinra smiled. If only a little.

Himiko's hand cupped his cheek. "You did what you thought was right, babe. If some stupid heroes want to get in our way, they'll die just the same." She said resolutely; an opinion shared between the two killers. They didn't have a solid rule against killing the good guys, but they didn't care all that much. They tried to avoid the trouble if they can. Better to avoid than kill and get swarmed like ants. "But you did what they can't do. Don't let it get to you."

He wished it was as simple as that.

"Today's such a mess." Shinra muttered. Why the hell was he still shaking?

He wasn't the only one to notice. "Shinra," Himiko whispered, holding him closer. "Don't hold it in. It's just us."

As if a switch was flipped, the tears fell. "I-I... I could've failed..." It ran through his head like a video on repeat. He entered his home. It was dark. A man on top of Yuma. Her screams muffled. He saw red. He entered his home. It was dark. A man on top... Shinra's breath hitched and felt his heart drop into his stomach. How far would it have gone? She would've gotten raped. Would she have been taken away? She could've been killed afterwards.

He brought his hands up to his face to muffle himself. Sobs racked through his body and Himiko just did her best to keep him close. "She's alive. She's safe." She whispered.

"I should've... been here sooner!"

"Stop that." Himiko gently chastised. "You couldn't have known."

"But-"

"Nobu Shinra, you listen to me." Himiko rarely ever used his whole name. And whenever she did, she never did it when she was angry. But her boyfriend still flinched as if he was being scolded. Her eyes were soft, but stern. "Today wasn't your day, but you did better than you've ever done. You pushed yourself to your limits today. You were smiling. You opened up. You saved your sister. And that should make you proud." The slasher kept going. "You can make portals, but you can't be everywhere at once."

"I have to." Shinra muttered.

To himself or to her, neither of them were sure.

But Himiko didn't care.

"No. You don't." She forced. "I get it. She's family. She's quirkless. You care about her more than life itself. But that can only go so far before you bring yourself down trying to keep her up." She pressed the tip of her finger at the edge of his nose and smiled. "That's why I'm here to help shoulder that burden, silly. She has the two of us. Something you manage to forget in the heat of the moment. Don't think you need to do everything yourself. Okay?"

"Yes." He replied under his breath. Then, with a small smile "Sorry for being stupid."

"Being stupid is why I love you." Himiko giggled before she kissed him on the cheek. "Among other things."

"... Was that supposed to be a dirty joke?"

"Look who's mind is in the gutter." The blonde slasher teased before she tugged at his shirt. "Now come on, I want to get some sleep. I wanna hold Yuma. And I'll clean up the bloodstains later." Himiko didn't say it out loud, but she was feeling clingy. It scared her to think how someone or something special to her could've been snatched away at a moment's notice. And she wouldn't have even noticed until it was too late. But she didn't let it get to her. She knew she can't anticipate everything in life, but she would sure do her damn best to prevent something like that from ever happening again.

She'd kill them.

Or die trying.

As they were walking up the stairs, "Hey babe, what was the name of that candy shop you were talking about?"

"The Blooming Lotus? Why?"

"No reason."

"... Okay." He knew better than to question it.

Later... (2:22 PM)

Himiko quietly hummed to herself as she picked up a tomato. People walked by selecting their own foods while she turned and twisted the tomato, inspecting it to see if it were rotten. Finding nothing out of the ordinary, the blonde continued her pace as she grabbed another two tomatoes before placing them in her basket.

She reached in her pocket to pull out a slip of paper. "Hm." She went down the list of groceries.

She still had a good deal of ingredients to look for.

Himiko rolled her eyes. A part of her wished Shinra had taken up her offer to go grocery shopping with her. Seeing as how he was the household cook, he'd know where things are in a heartbeat, how fresh they were, how much they needed, etc. But she couldn't blame him for staying home. Apparently a UA class had been attacked by villains and they gave the students an extra day off to recuperate while officials investigated what happened. Something he confirmed when she brought it up during breakfast.

Of course, Shinra took it upon himself to make brother/sister bonding time.

Still, it was boring without her boytoy.

Again. Can't blame him.

Hell, she remembered how jumpy he was when she came back to their room early this morning, a couple hours before sunrise. As soon as Himiko took a step in, the door's hinges made a creak. If the slasher didn't have the reflexes of a killer, she would've found a kunai dug deep in her eye. And speaking of eyes, she was a little put off when she looked at her boyfriend after the act.

His eyes, fresh from whatever light sleep he had, were wide and unhinged. His pupils were pinpricks and he promised absolute suffering to whoever entered. Yuma was in his arms, fast asleep and oblivious to the tense moment between the teens. Luckily Himiko didn't move a muscle until Shinra caught his bearings.

She wasn't upset at him for nearly braining her against the door.

But that didn't mean she didn't pay him back for it later.

After breakfast, Shinra had a random rush of motivation and asked her to spar with him. This time, he upped his training and handicapped himself. She wasn't sure where he got them from, but he had weighted training clothes on and the wooden training sword she'd seen him use with Yoko.

Himiko knew it was just training and Shinra knew very well what he was getting himself into, but she didn't hold back any punches.

Sure, it was sparring and sometimes it got bloody.

And by god, did she love it when they got rough.

But it did make her blush in excitement when she felt her knuckles bash into his cheeks. She had the edge over him. She was always faster than him in terms of reflexes. They both knew that. And it showed when she smacked the wooden sword out of his hands and started using it against him. She had been laughing up a storm as he cursed and complained about how fluid she was with her body and the sword.

She was always good with melee combat. Although she prefered small knives, but if she put her mind to it, Himiko knew she had him beat with weapons.

The blonde never really questioned why she was so talented with melee weapons.

While Himiko was giggling over her recent victory in their little sparring match, she didn't notice who was walking in front of her until she accidentally crashed into them. Whatever foods Himiko had in her basket had fallen to the ground, mixing with some of the other person's.

"Oh, I'm so sorry!" A feminine voice apologized.

Himiko shook her head. "No, no, that was all on me." 'Ooh, if we weren't in public right now I'd-'

"Here let me help."

Himiko saw a hand reach down to pick up one of her oranges and noticed tiny pink pads on her fingertips. "Thanks, uh..." She hinted, as the two knelt down. When she saw her face, Himiko felt her cheeks start to buzz. The girl in front of her had brown hair with a round face and near permanent blushed cheeks. 'She so cute!' The slasher thought to herself as the teenager handed her a fallen orange.

"Ah! My name is Uraraka Ochako."

"Toga Himiko." Did she know her from somewhere? "Are you a UA student?"

Uraraka blinked in surprise. "Yes, I am? How'd you guess that?"

"I remember seeing your face on the news this morning." Himiko recalled, remembering when she and Shinra sat on the sofa watching TV after sparring. "Heard you guys got ambushed by a bunch of villains in the middle of a training simulation?"

"Yeah." Uraraka sighed as she picked up a bag of grapes. "It's not really something any of us really expected, you know. Ironic. Considering we're training to be heroes to fight against those villains later." It was still something that gave her shivers thinking about how things could've ended differently at any moment.

"You're lucky there were no casualties." Himiko hummed. "I know if my boyfriend was there, he'd have you all out in seconds."

"Oh? Sorry, I don't know who you're talking about." Uraraka tried thinking of who she was talking about.

"You should. He's your classmate."

And that's when it hit her.

Her eyes widened. The only person that wasn't there was "S-Shinra?"

Himiko only smiled in a way that showed off her teeth. "Mhm."

Uraraka was still reeling from discovering Shinra had a girlfriend. Not like she thought he couldn't find one! But the gravity student really couldn't believe her odds of bumping into such a person.

"So what was it like?"

"Huh?"

"The villain attack. What was it like?"

Uraraka let out a breath and bit her lip. "The single scariest moment of my life." She answered honestly. Although she wasn't sure if she was supposed to be telling an outsider what really went down. "I didn't get to count how many villains there was, but they had dozens in the building. They separated almost all of us, but we weren't really their target apparently."

"It was All Might, right?"

"Yeah. And they nearly took him down from what I heard. He was hurt pretty badly."

"And what did you do?" Himiko asked with a tilted head. "Did you fight?"

Honestly, that question hit a nerve that Uraraka didn't know she had. She wasn't mad, but the hero student answered with a little bite. "No. I didn't. I don't even know if I really wanted to, but it sucks knowing I couldn't do anything. They were completely out of my league."

The slasher wasn't bothered by the bark. "It can be like that. To survive a life or death situation and question it like, 'I should've done more. Did I do enough? Or did I do too little?' It can get kinda overwhelming if it's your first time, but I've learned it's best to think 'I'm alive' and that's all that matters."

"... You sound like you've-"

"Been nearly killed? Several times, yeah. It sucks." Himiko said nonchalantly. Uraraka just reeled back in disbelief. "Everyone has regrets. It's natural. Just be happy you and your classmates are alive, ready to learn and fight another day."

Uraraka could understand that. It was almost like what her parents told her, after she had called them crying when things quieted down.

Both her and Himiko stood back up after picking everything off the ground. "I won't lie though. If I was in a situation like that, I'd be running to wherever Shinra is. Knowing him, he's the type of dumbass that likes to play around with people and get his ass beat." Himiko deadpanned, earning an adorable giggle from Uraraka. "He's either a reckless idiot or a blessing in disguise. But he knows how to fight at least."

"I've seen him in action. He's a bit scary." Himiko arched a brow. Uraraka faked a cough. "N-Not to be mean or anything!"

"Oh no, I know what you mean. He can go a little overboard. But that's just who he is."

Uraraka couldn't help but ask. "How long have you known him?"

"6 years." Himiko sighed happily. Her mind immediately went back to the park. "We've only started dating a year ago, but I still get those little butterflies in my stomach whenever I think about him."

"And what's he like?"

Himiko snorted. "What's he like to you?"

"I... honestly don't know." Uraraka answered. Was this supposed to be a trick question? Uraraka had heard of incidents of jealous girlfriends attempting to trap oblivious girls. She tread carefully. "We haven't really known him all that long and I've only seen him fight once. He doesn't talk much in class, but he seems somewhat... passive aggressive? Blunt? It's really hard to tell. Sometimes he laughs to himself a bit."

"All you need to know is he's an idiot." Himiko responded, to which Uraraka sweatdropped when she realized she didn't get much an of answer. But at least it wasn't a trap. "Sometimes he likes to try goofy shit with me and I pinch him in the ass for it." Uraraka blushed at the thought, but at least found it funny. "And I wouldn't really change him for the world. He can be a dumbass, but he's my dumbass, ya know?"

"I can't say I do." Uraraka awkwardly chuckled, scratching at her own cheek.

"Single?"

Judging by the expression on the student's face, Himiko knew she was right. "Eh, you'll find someone eventually." Himiko placed a hand on Uraraka's shoulder. The brunette suddenly felt like she was being pitied. Uraraka gave a dejected sigh.

"Finding a boyfriend isn't exactly on the top of my priorities list at the moment, I'll have you know."

"That's what they always say~"

"It's not!" Uraraka stammered, blushing when she realized how loud she got for a moment.

Himiko giggled. She put a hand over her mouth and wiggled her eyebrows. "From that reaction, it looks to me like you've already found that special someone. You just don't know it yet."

"And how would you know!?"

"I read a lot of rom-coms." Himiko stifled a laugh when Uraraka's cheeks puffed in a pout at the sudden teasing. "Trust me on this. You'll know who it is. If he really makes you happy, you'll know. Just don't wait too long. Or someone else will snatch him right up." The blonde girl grinned mischievously. "Luckily I don't have to worry about Shinra sneaking off with someone else because he knows what'll happen when I find him."

"Sounds like you'll tie him up and drop him in a ditch." Uraraka said in a slightly nervous smile.

"That's because I will." Himiko scoffed. Uraraka's eyes widened. "Shinra was my only real friend when we were kids. He helped me out when I needed him and it just sparked from there. Of course, he wanted to play hard to get and I decided to ask him out first." A distant memory of Himiko physically throwing a bundle of flowers at Shinra replayed in her mind. It always made her giggle.

"So if I ever found out he broke that bond between us over some random bitch, he's gonna get it."

Uraraka didn't really have a response to that. But on some level, she understood. Probably not to that degree.

Of course not.

Then Himiko said, "All I'm saying is, when you like a person, catch them before it's too late."

"You make it sound really, really easy. Don't you have any doubts?"

"That's because I know how easy it is to lose someone at a moments notice. So no, I don't allow myself to doubt him." Himiko said with an offhand eyeroll. "Life's too short to question things. And I spend every day making sure he knows I love him." Himiko bounced the food basket over her arm. "Which is why I'm gonna try to surprise him with dinner tonight. Among other things." She said sensually enough that Uraraka caught on quick and felt her cheeks heat up at the suggestion. "But take it from another girl, don't second guess yourself. Because if I heard my boyfriend got jumped by villains, I'd go on a warpath to get him back."

"You wouldn't happen to be learning how to be a hero too, would you?"

"Nope. Being a hero isn't my cup of tea." Himiko smoothly answered. She wouldn't be caught dead wearing tights and jumping in a burning building to save some random person's kids. "Anyway," The blonde held out her hand with a polite smile. "It was nice getting to talk with one of Shinra's classmates, but I gotta make sure I get cheese before someone buys it all again."

Uraraka took her hand. "It was nice meeting you too, Toga-"

"Please call me Himiko. We're friends now."

The brunette smiled.

Meanwhile...

"He's in room 18. Take the elevator to the fifth floor. Then it's down the hallway till you make a left." The receptionist instructed with a slight bead of sweat on her brow.

The girl in front of her nodded before making her way passed the desk. A boy followed alongside her.

The elevator slowly dropped through the floors and inside was a doctor, who sighed to himself. He was just 30 minutes away from finishing his 12 hour shift and he so dearly wanted to go home back to his family. Or sleep. Yes, sleep was a good thing to do first. The man hadn't managed to eat as much as he'd like today, but what can you do after being a part of an emergency surgery to remove a stop sign from someone's abdomen?

The elevator doors opened with a ding and the doctor suddenly felt uneasy.

He looked down to find a pair of twins that looked as if they were just starting their teens.

The girl, for some reason looked to be wearing a maid-like outfit with frills and small shiny heels poking out from the bottom. Her hair was a sleek raven black that dropped down as far as her lower back, with three strips of white hair hanging on each side of her face and going down the middle of her head. Her eyes were a dull red, unblinking as she took her spot in the corner of the elevator. In her hands was a dark blue teddy bear.

The boy looked near identical to her.

He wore a formal outfit as well; a black button-up long sleeve with a white undershirt and black tie. He also had white gloves on. His hair was slicked back; raven black hair with the same three white strips going down each side of his face and down the back of his head. His eyes were an ominous purple.

And both of them were just pale like they were ghosts wearing clothing.

Without a word, the doctor allowed the duo to enter the elevator while he stepped out as quickly as he could without it being blatantly obvious.

Of course, they both knew it anyway.

With a scoff, the girl rolled her eyes as the door closed.

The floors ticked by with only the annoying elevator music to break the silence. Once they reached their floor, the duo kept their even pace and went door by door until they saw Room Number 18. Before they even opened the door, an older lady walked out. She paused at the two, blinking and the duo noticed her eyes were bloodshot. "Ah, p-pardon me." She politely excused herself by the twins, her voice was a bit raspy and gave away that she had been crying.

The boy didn't spare her much of a glance unlike his sister, but instead silently stepped around her to enter the room.

Gotetsu was laying down with his head against the pillow, eyes looking up at the ceiling fan slowly spin circles above him.

He jumped in his bed when the sister walked in and spoke.

"You look like you tried the cowgirl position with a blender."

"Ruko-sama! I didn't know you were coming!" He exclaimed, sitting up as best as he could before he winced in pain. It strained him not to grab at the stubs for legs he had and make the pain worse.

"Chill out." Ruko said as she took the closest chair to the bed. Her brother just stood at the door in silence. "I'm assuming the lady that passed us was your mother?"

Gotetsu took a moment to soothe the pain before answering. "Yeah. Can't exactly keep something as drastic as this from my family."

Ruko looked down at his legs. "Yeah what the fuck happened anyway?"

Gotetsu sighed, already knowing where to begin. "First off, Kotaru's dead."

The boy just shook his head.

"... Go on."

"Instead of doing what he was supposed to do, he pissed off the wrong fucking person." Gotetsu mentally swore.

He still couldn't forget his employees head rolling on the ground.

"He was fucking kids again, wasn't he?" The man nodded. "That son of a bitch is lucky someone else killed him before I did."

"... I wouldn't say he got lucky, ma'am."

"How so?"

"I still don't know who attacked him, but whoever it was, I'm pretty sure he tortured the hell out of Kotaru because he brought his severed head in a cooler. With his dick pushed in his jaws." That got a rowdy laugh from the girl, who was clapping her hands and leaning back in her chair. Gotetsu didn't really find it all that much funny. While he can't say he was best friends with Kotaru, he still worked with the guy and somewhat liked him. But because of his stupidity, he got dragged into it.

Ruko wiped a faux tear from her eye. "Seems like whoever got you two really knows how to have fun!"

"Ma'am, please."

"Right right, sorry. I'm just enjoying the fact that you're shorter than we are now."

Gotetsu held back a groan. "The doctors say they'll give me prosthetics, but I won't be able to do shit for a month."

"Well damn." Ruko clicked her teeth. "Was kinda hoping you'd be good enough to at least smooth things over with the Lunar Pack. Ya know, like Kotaro was supposed to do before he stuck his dick in a guillotine? I'd rather not have to talk to his brother unless I really have to." The gothic child cringed thinking about the Pack leader. Fucking mutt keeps eyeing her like a damn fleshligh waiting to be broken in.

Gotetsu, as well as the rest of the Eclipse, knew exactly what thin ice the Pack leader was on whenever he was near.

And seeing as how Gotetsu worked with his younger brother, the gang leader held some form of respect for him.

"Speaking of," Gotetsu sighed, looking quite embarrassed. "I was told by my attacker to give this message. Whoever he is, he really, really doesn't want any of us going near his family or we'd end up like Kotaro. Or worse. That's all he had to say before he left. And considering what he did to me, I'm a firm believer that he keeps to his word." He wasn't going to mention that the voice belonged to a young man either.

Ruko narrowed her eyes. "Ya know, throwing threats around like that would get a man lynched in my backyard. But he's lucky we don't know who he is. Removing a pedophilic shit stain from my gang is one thing. Crippling one of my boys is another. So he'd better watch his ass. As long as he doesn't pull anymore stunts like that, he won't have anything to worry from us. Unless we find out who he is."

If he was being honest, Gotetsu really didn't want to risk it.

"Until Kotaro's brother hears about it." Gotetsu grumbled. "I'm half expecting Keiji to fly off the handle and sniff out my store looking for clues."

"About that."

"What." It wasn't even a question.

Ruko looked as sheepish as she could, even though it was obvious she found something funny.

"Apparently someone burned down your store in the middle of the night."

"What?" Now it was a question. "How the fuck did they get by all the police!?"

"Hell if I know." Ruko shrugged with a scowl. "All I know is, we gotta worry about the Pack losing their shit. Or else I gotta do damage control. Cause once they start acting up, the Relics start getting stir crazy too." At the mention of the other rival gang, Gotetsu slumped back into his pillow.

The man lost his legs. Lost his job. Lost his store with whatever savings he had hidden away. And now he has to imagine a gang war brewing. Wonderful.

"Anything else I should worry about?" The man drawled.

"For now, just worry about getting out of the hospital." The maid dressed child hopped off her chair and joined her brother at the door. "Lich and I will see what we can do to keep the peace. If by the off chance that we gotta break heads, we'll see how you're doing first."

"Aye, ma'am..."

As soon as the siblings stepped outside of the hospital, Ruko fished out a box of cigarettes and lit one.

She ignored the stunned looks of people around them and let out a breath of smoke.

"You know... I can feel a real shitstorm approaching."

"..."

2 Days Later...

After the extra day off spent with Yuma and Himiko, Shinra found himself back in UA.

Trying to get out of class.

Except there was a fuckload of students blocking the exit and crowding the hallways.

"The fuck do you extras want?" Bakugo was the first to bark out, looking beyond annoyed that these no-names were gonna make them late for next period.

And Shinra could find himself agreeing. He was kinda tempted to portal through the wall, but he really didn't want to deal with Iida throwing a fit. Although that didn't stop the glasses teen from already throwing one and berating Bakugo on his behavior.

Shinra and the rest of Class 1A were just stuck until they were given a path out.

"My my, what a cocky attitude. We didn't even say anything yet and you're already jumping the gun?" A scraggy mop of purple hair made its way through the ocean of students. Then a teen with near exhausted eyes stepped to the front and leveled himself with Bakugo with an apathetic stare. "You Hero Course students really let the fame go to your heads, didn't you? You come out of one villain attack and think you're God's Gift to the world, huh?"

"You're damn right." Shinra and Bakugo said in unison. And neither bothered to even look at each other.

"So what's all this, huh?" Shinra cut in. He eyed the crowd. Some kids tried to avoid eye contact. "You building a fanclub or some shit?"

The purple haired teen, Shinso, scoffed. "If there was one, you could apply for membership. Considering you weren't at the USJ incident to get any popularity." Shinso eyed Shinra up and down. "And from the looks of you, you'd need it. All bark, not enough bite." Some members of Class 1A held their breath.

Shinra offered a challenging smile. "I can punch your throat in before you could even blink."

Shinso sighed, but he donned a smirk without backing down. "Perhaps. I'm not so arrogant to think I'm stronger than you. But the upcoming Sports Festival can even the odds quite a bit, don't you think? Especially considering its a way to reevaluate students in other courses. Hero, General, Support, Business, etc." Shinso narrowed his eyes. "And in cause that's not simple enough for you, that means any one of us," He gestured to the crowd behind him. "Can steal your spot in the Hero Course and drop you down. So I suggest not making a fool of yourself out there."

"You're really talking a lotta shit for someone in throat punching distance."

"So what," Kirishima stepped in before things got heated. "You're trying to get a sneak peak to see what you're dealing with?"

"A good player comes to scope out the competition before they start." Shinso simply said as he started backing into the crowd. He waved a hand. "And I've seen enough. See you losers later."

"Oi!" A boisterous voice boomed in the back of the crowded hallway. Eyes rolled over to a teen with sharp teeth pointing at 1A. "Don't count me out just yet! And don't think that just cause villains took a pick at you doesn't mean you're better than any of us! I'll beat any of your asses any time! Any day!"

Nobody really paid him any attention.

"I've had enough of this." Bakugo muttered before he took a step forward and took a deep breath. "GET THE FUCK OUTTA MY WAY BEFORE I PUT MY FOOT UP EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOUR ASSES!" His voice boomed as loud as his explosions and that set some of the students straight, getting a good chunk of them to run down the hallway. "If you background character fucks think you're gonna take my spot, think again! You're worth less than the shit on my boots! You'll end up crying in the infirmary before you even get close!"

Behind him, Shinra proudly clapped his hands while Midoriya looked embarrassed as all hell. Iida and the rest of the class just looked shocked.

Bakugo stepped through the first bundle of students and gave them nasty glares, daring them to say anything against him.

Kirishima tried to keep the tears from falling as he clenched a fist. "So manly..."

As a fighter, Shinra could find the humor and reasoning behind it while the rest of his classmates tried apologizing for their classmate's behavior.

If everyone here is trying their best, why not get the opposition riled up to make it more of a challenge? Sure Shinra didn't care about who he had to beat down. As long as he got a good fight. And won. But he'd be damned if he let some insomniac looking motherfucker talk his shit and walk away. His knuckles popped as he clenched his fists. 'Save it for the Festival' He thought to himself.

He already missed a villain invasion. He didn't need to miss out on another event.

Especially when it's probably gonna end up being a Free-for-All; Him against the world.

Shinra couldn't stop the madman-like grin and didn't notice the looks he was getting from others.

He just imagined what it would be like facing off against classmates he didn't get to challenge yet.

Shoji looked like a handful to deal with; no pun intended.

Kirishima would be easy, yet difficult at the same time with that damn defense quirk of his.

Iida could go either way if he could react fast enough.

Ooh, and then there's the chance he could go against Midoriya! And Todoroki!

Shinra felt his blood pumping at the thought of rematching Bakugo, knowing damn well the explosive teen got better over the years.

Although out of all the girls, Mina would probably be the toughest to get close to while the rest would be fairly easy to deal with.

'Not counting out Uraraka just yet,' Shinra thought to himself. 'That Zero Gravity would be a pain to deal with.'

He already faced off Momo, knowing how well she'd fare against him.

Jiro is easy pickings.

Toru could actually be a problem if she got completely naked and knew how to grapple.

And then came Asui as a thought. Shinra honestly couldn't get a proper image over the frog girl. She was blunt as all hell, which is something he could get by and respect. And while he never really did make any attempt to make friends with her, he did try talking up a conversation with her yesterday after Aizawa told them about the UA Sports Festival.

Out of curiosity about the nasty scar over Tsuyu's face, which went from her right cheek up to her left eye, he tried asking how she was doing after the whole ordeal.

She just looked at him and said "Fine" before going back to her work. Personally, Shinra wasn't offended at the casual dismissal. He kinda just wanted to know who the hell scratched up her face and nearly blinded her in one eye. Oh well.

Either way, the warp user went back to thinking of possible match-ups between him and his classmates.

Especially a certain bomber. Bakugo had indeed gotten faster, stronger and more tactical in his approach. So much that even Shinra wasn't sure if he'd win as easy as he did before. Especially now that Bakugo learned how to propel himself and fly with his explosions.

Shinra rolled his eyes and grabbed his bag, leaving the classroom. "Not everyone has rockets for hands." He mumbled to himself.

Everyone worth shit knew how to use their quirk for offense and defense. It was just how well you can make use of it.

Next to him, Midoriya overheard him and practically knew who he was talking about. "Well, Kacchan has always been creative with his quirk. Especially after your... match before. For some reason he focused on learning how to fly?" Midoriya couldn't say he knew why his childhood bully was so adamant on human body and weight physics.

Shinra knew. Cunt was trying his damn hardest to be his exact counter.

Can't exactly drop someone who can fly.

"He is a fast learner, I'll give him that." Shinra said. "But I can get creative too. Then I'll beat his ass on live television."

Aizawa gave them a week to train before the big show?

That gave Shinra enough time to be just as creative.

And the warp teen already had an idea.

A Week Later...

The festival had finally began and even though nothing had actually started, adrenaline was going through the roof as students sat patiently in their designated waiting rooms.

There were several students doing their best to keep their nerves under control.

Kirishima and some of the guys were taking their time to pull off some stretching to limber themselves up.

Momo was going over a chemistry formula book.

Mina was chatting away with Jiro and Toru about how excited she was about showing off her skills.

Tokoyami and Shoji were actively trying to keep Koda from having a mental breakdown.

Midoriya, Iida and Uraraka were just making small talk.

The only one who wasn't talking in a group or doing anything much at all was Todoroki. Who Shinra noticed to be completely content with staring off into space. The Icy Hot teen didn't really do or say much in their class. At least, nothing Shinra really took note of to remember. There wasn't really anything exciting that happened in the meantime. At least, until now as Todoroki stood up from his seat and walked across the room.

"Midoriya."

Hearing his voice was actually so much of a rarity that it made everyone in the room stop what they were doing.

And the teen in question just flinched at suddenly being called out. "Y-Yes?"

"With your quirk you can easily call yourself the top student in this class. However in terms of skill, I believe I'm better than you." Todoroki said. Midoriya just stood there with his jaw slowly dropping. How was he supposed to respond to that? "I've noticed that All Might has given you some type of attention. Maybe it's because of your quirk. I don't know. And I'm not going to dig deeper than that. But just know that I'm going to win."

That got confused murmurs from other students, but no more than Bakugo. "Now wait just a fuckin' minute!" Who slapped his hand against the table and kicked his chair back. The ash-blonde teen walked up to Todoroki with a swagger in his step and his hands in his pockets. "I dunno who fucked up your anti-depressants, but you must be outta your damn mind if you think Deku is stronger than me! There's no fucking way!"

"If it weren't for the backlash of his power, he very well could be." Todoroki continued calmly, only serving to piss off Bakugo even more.

"And where do you get off talking shit?" Shinra joined in as he leaned back in his chair. "Considering you never use your left side to fight."

Todoroki zeroed his gaze on Shinra. "My right side is enough to handle this festival, I assure you."

"And what if it isn't?" Shinra countered with a bit of bite. "Because as I see it, you're handicapping yourself. At least Midoriya has the fucking balls to break his own bones to fight. Why hold yourself back?"

"That's none of your business." Came the immediate response.

"You're right. It's not." Shinra stood up and rolled his neck. "But you should really reconsider who you wanna challenge." He jerked his head to Bakugo, who was grinning like an angry bull. "Going by statistics, us four can give each other a run for their money. And you can be damn sure I'm not holding back. Neither is Bakugo. And neither will Midoriya. But you? I hope you're fucking ready to be put in the dirt if you think half your goddamn power is enough to solo us."

Todoroki narrowed his eyes.

"Todoroki-san," Midoriya said. His eyes were steeled with determination. "While I don't doubt that you're incredibly strong, don't expect me to go down without a fight. I'm here to win too. Don't forget that." He finished with a hard tone.

Iida was the one to step up with his hands raised. "Everyone, please let's calm down! There's no need to argue amongst friends. We're all aspiring to be heroes together."

"I didn't come here to make friends." Todoroki declared as the loudspeaker started calling for all students to enter the fields. Nothing else was said between the students and nobody wanted to move. Todoroki scoffed before making his way to the door.

"Hey Todoroki." Shinra called as soon as Icy Hot touched the doorknob.

The elemental barely glanced back at him.

"You better hope we don't end up fighting each other."

Todoroki didn't bother responding as he and the rest of Class 1A stepped out to the spotlight.

"You know," Shinra began as he looked around with a whistle. "I kinda expected this to be bigger."

"Bigger?" Midoriya said as he and several hundreds of students stared at the audience in awe. "There's thousands of people watching us, Shinra! And you expected bigger!?" The broccoli boy said in a hushed yell, already feeling his nerves take a hit from being center stage in front of all of Japan. Midoriya, trying his best to look as normal as possible, was making himself unknowingly stand out with his panic attack amongst the students.

"Keep that up and you'll end up shitting yourself before the games start." Shinra grinned.

"You're not helping!"

"When have I ever?"

Out of nowhere, Mina upped her pace to stand next to Midoriya. "Awe, don't tell me you have stage fright, Midori-kun!" She poked him in the cheek with a giggle. Midoriya's face flushed. "Oh my God, you do~" The pink skinned girl sang.

"He looks like he's gonna pass out." Shinra joked. Although with how red Midoriya's face was getting, he was surprised how well the teen was taking all of this attention.

"Yes, so please stop before he actually does." Uraraka stepped up with a disapproving frown to her female classmate. She huffed. "It's not funny to tease people, Mina."

Mina grinned evilly. "Oh, but you gotta admit he looks cute when he's blushing."

Midoriya's breath hitched and he wobbled on his feet, steam coming out of his ears.

"Mina!"

Shinra laughed as Uraraka rushed to his side and frantically waved a hand in his face. "And you're not helping either, Shinra!" He could've. It wouldn't take so much effort to open a small portal with some nice old Mount Everest winds.

But he didn't.

As all of the students lined up in an orderly fashion, the crowds starting cheering louder. And the students soon saw why.

In her captivating, and should be illegal attire, Midnight waltzed up to the podium with a bit of pep in her step that really showed off her assets. To which most of the male student body were caught staring a bit too much by female classmates next to them. Some girls rolled their eyes muttering 'boys will be boys' with the ever few of them feeling jealous and even fewer of them sporting nose bleeds because of their certain 'tastes'.

Shinra could see Jiro wipe her nose profusely in the corner of his eye before she stood straight with a heavy blush.

He could've sword he heard someone a couple rows back mutter, "God I want her to step on my balls."

"Dude, what the fuck?" came next to him.

Shinra couldn't blame them.

Hell, he knew Himiko wouldn't be able to sit still near Midnight.

"Welcome to the UA Sports Festival!" The R-Rated teacher exclaimed to the mic, getting more of a rouse out of the audience. Her smile was wide as she held her hand out to the students. "Before we begin, can we have Bakugo Katsuki from Class 1A take the stage to represent the students this year?"

Mutters went through the students as everyone spotted the bomber's hair move through the crowd. "Oh this is gonna be good." Shinra said to himself while Midoriya started sweating bullets.

Bakugo walked up the stairs and took the mic.

He breathed in.

"There's no way I'm gonna lose."

Almost immediately the moshpit of students behind him started raging as the teen picked at his ears without a care in the world.

Shinra stifled a snicker. "This bitch." As Bakugo made his way back to the crowds, Shinra held up an open hand with a grin that Bakugo met with a smirk of his own. There was a glint in Shinra's eyes went they looked at each other. A silent promise.

'I'll settle for nothing less than your best when we fight' Was the hidden message.

Not if. But when.

Midnight stood on stage with a hungry look in her eyes and licked her lips at the energy the contestants were giving off. She ignored the obvious callouts in the audience regarding her legal status to work as a teacher and tapped the microphone. "Okay everyone listen up! Every year we randomly select a game! A qualifier if you'd like to call it! And this year we'll be going with-" Behind her, a giant holographic screen lit up and went down a list of possible games. It stopped on Obstacle Race.

"This game will include a 4 Kilometer race around the stadium, filled with different stages of varying obstacles! And the best part is," Midnight's hungry eyes returned with a vengeance. "Anything goes as long as you stay on course!"

"Welp." Shinra muttered. That settles that.

Midoriya simply gave him a dirty glare.

"Now everyone, take your positions!" Midnight called out as 3 lights lit up over the gates. "Three!"

"No hard feelings Midoriya." Shinra laughed.

"Two!"

"I hate you so much."

"One!"

With the sound of horn and fireworks popping off, the ground shook from the hundreds of feet stomping to get an advantage over each other. Midoriya had immediately made a beeline for a clear path, only for everyone to get stuck trying to force their way through the narrow hallway. Some students jumped, others ran along the walls, some even flew a short distance.

"And the first game is already underway!" Present Mic's voice echoed over the loudspeaker. "What better way to spice things up than with some Grade A commentary!? You ready to give a little Play-By-Play, Mummy Man!?"

Aizawa's voice came after. "How did you rope me into this?"

Present Mic didn't even seem to hear it. "I can feel feel the ground shaking from here! The kids are in a frenzy folks! However it seems they're already struggling to get by the first obstacle! The Hallway of Hell!"

"... You gave it a name?"

"Of course I did! It hasn't even be 5 seconds and the students are running wild, trampling each other to get out like caged animals! Once one starts using their quirk, they all start using their quirks! And pretty soon, the Hallway of Hell is gonna be called the Hallway of Necessary Healthcare! At this point, any advantage can set you ahead of the game by a longshot!"

"Seems someone has the right idea."

The crowds just watched in confusion as Shinra yawned into his hand and looked at the couple of students staring at the clogged hallway with frustration. They were trying to push their way through while he hasn't even taken a step yet.

Then he dropped into a portal and disappeared.

Back at home, Himiko snapped her fingers as she looked at the TV screen. They all heard what type of game it was. "If he doesn't get first place, I'm kicking his ass."

Next to her sat Yuma and Yoko, who both watched the screen with small smiles. "Leave it to the brat to make looking smart seem lazy."

Yuma looked confused. "But he didn't start running yet. Isn't he in dead last?"

"Shinra can't use his quirk in that hallway or he's gonna end up dragging people along with him." Yoko explained to the child. "I just wish he'd take things seriously and not seem like his head is in the clouds all the time."

Himiko giggled. "Knowing him, he will. He probably won't even touch the ground until the end."

From all the mayhem within the hallway, nobody noticed Todoroki stomp his right foot to the ground and ice began to spread at a rapid pace. Well nobody except his classmates who had all came prepared. Just as a thick enough layer of ice entrapped several dozens of students to the ground and even spread along the walls, Todoroki escaped the hallway and squinted his eyes at the sunlight.

He heard Present Mic call out.

"And Nobu Shinra is already ahead of the game! Look at him go!"

The scarred teen looked around him in confusion, trying to pinpoint where the warp-teen could've been. There's no way he passed him so easily!

"Get your ass back down here!" He heard Bakugo pop off behind him and Todoroki looked back to see him taking off in the air, keeping himself from touching the ground. Except he realized Bakugo wasn't talking about him. He followed the ash-blonde's eyes that lead upwards and narrowed his own when he spotted a shadow just near the sun.

A portal had opened up high in the sky and Shinra popped out.

Todoroki grit his teeth before he sped up, his classmates following close behind him.

Shinra loved being the air. It was peaceful and quiet, albeit the noises of teenagers screaming and raging at each other below him. But he enjoyed feeling weightless, as if he was actually flying himself. He wasn't really gliding forward, but he was able to angle himself to fall at an angle instead of straight down. As he began to free fall, Shinra looked below him. "Huh. Well would ya look at that?" He could see a huge mass of ice trailing across the ground with students slipping and falling in its wake.

That would've been him if he tried to play fair.

Good thing flying was his version of fair.

"He's like a bird! Unless someone shoots him down, we might as well give him the crown!"

"Many students here have quirks that can be extremely versatile even outside of battle. In this case, Shinra's portals can let him be anywhere he wants as long as he has a clear sight of it. If it weren't for that, Todoroki would be far ahead with this use of his ice slowing down more than half of the competition in seconds."

Below on the ground, other students had caught sight of Shinra having the time of his life being a speck in the sky before falling through another portal and repeating it.

Riding atop of other students, Shinso clicked his teeth. "If I had known he could make portals, I'd have spoken to him first. Tch, oh well." He looked down at one of his four horsemen and snapped his fingers. "Oi, hurry up. I don't wanna lose because you're lagging behind."

"Seems like a majority of Class 1A is gonna lead the charge here, huh Mummy Man!?"

"Don't call me that."

"They may have gotten through the Hallway of Hell, but can they get through the Robo-Inferno!?"

Just as soon as Todoroki had gotten far enough ahead, the scarred teen skid to a halt as an old 3-Pointer robot made a beeline straight for him. Behind him, he saw well over 10 hulking 0-Pointers moving up behind the smaller ones. "Of course." He muttered to himself before a mist escaped his lips.

Shinra hopped out of another portal and whistled in surprise when he saw four 0-Pointers get frozen solid in a flash freeze. "Guess he wasn't just all talk." He said to himself as he spot the red and white hair rushing through the legs of the first robot. He didn't bother freezing any others as the first couple of frozen 0-Pointers tipped over and knocked into the rest like dominos.

Of course he spotted Bakugo keeping up fairly well, blasting himself over the robots and diving straight down towards Todoroki. It was obvious he wanted to bring Shinra down, but both boys knew it would've been a waste of strength to even reach him just for Shinra to portal away.

"If you guys thought that hard, check again! We're ramping it up!" It only took a minute for the students to reach the next obstacle. To which several of the students paled in comic disbelief when they saw numerous pillars connected only by metal rope. And below was an empty abyss. "I hope you kids got a sense of balance, because if you fall, you're OUT! Welcome to the Pits of Tartarus! Where the chasm is so deep, you can't even see the bottom!"

"Do you even need me here?"

Present Mic was cackling up a storm while the students tried to figure out how to walk on a tightrope.

Again, Shinra was keeping himself well in the air. He was starting to envy birds and their ability to fly.

He should talk to Tokoyami about that later.

Taking another quick glance, he was actually caught off guard with how smooth Todoroki was sliding across the ropes while freezing them with his right foot. The dude had a real good balance if Shinra ever saw one. And it didn't even look like the ice user hesitated for a second.

"Ugh," Mina panted as she finally stepped on stable ground. Her heart was pounding from the running and the adrenaline rush from nearly falling. Three times. She was glaring up at the air and followed Shinra until he portaled again. "That has to be cheating right? He hasn't touched the ground since the race started!" The pinkette whined and stomped at the floor. Then she heard heavy huffing and grunting.

Turning around, Mina saw Midoriya struggling to underhand climb his way across the rope and quickly reached out to grab him when he tried reaching for land.

Midoriya groaned as he was hefted on land, having nearly fell because he was lightheaded from being upside-down for too long. And it didn't help that there was a giant metallic guard from the robots he hooked on his back.

"Oh thank god..." The green teen panted as he tried to regain his bearings quickly.

Mina looked a bit concerned. "Are you okay, Midori-kun?"

"Y-Yeah, thanks for the help. But shouldn't you be running?" Midoriya questioned as he stood up and shook his head.

The two began rushing down the lane again once they noticed people started passing them. Mina only grinned. "What, you think just cuz we're racing each other means I can't lend a helping hand to my classmate? I want all of us to have a chance at winning." Her black eyes flickered to the abyss behind them. A bead of sweat trickled down her face. "That and I don't know if they actually have catching nets at the bottom of this pit." She looked back when she heard someone curse and slip off the rope.

They saw a random female student from the general studies falling down with a scream. "Delete my browser history!" She disappeared in the darkness.

Mina cringed when more people fell below as well.

"They're dropping like flies down there! Oh what a cruel world we live in, Mummy Man!"

"What did I just say?"

"Man they're uh, really getting into this, huh?" Mina wondered aloud, somewhat nervously and honestly wondering if Mic was on some sort of medication that he missed.

"Sorry, Ashido!" Midoriya huffed, feeling a second wind coming his way. He started to speed up. "But I can't lose this race! I need to make it to the next round!"

"Hey hey, call me Mina!" Midoriya looked back at her for only a second and saw her wink, nearly making him trip. Mina laughed as she passed him for the next obstacle. Although not too far ahead, the two teens spotted pink explosions rocking the ground and people flying like ragdolls. "... You've got to be shitting me." The pinkette slowed down with wide eyes.

"And here we've got the final obstacle of the race, folks!" Present Mic practically screamed and if people were able to see in the commentators box, they'd see him standing up with his face against the glass. Next to him, a bandaged up Aizawa just stared at him, unable to leave because the blonde lunatic locked him inside and pocketed the key. "Whoever's leading the charge at the tip of the spear is gonna have a bad day! Because they're walking in a field of landmines! Enter a bomber's wet dream! IT'S THE DEVIL'S PLAYGROUND!"

"... I think we're gonna need an intervention." A mutter came afterward.

"Oh lay off! The kids aren't gonna die. Those explosives will break the bones in their legs at the most."

All the while, Shinra was laughing his ass off as he watched the absolute chaos at the ground below. The white head hadn't had to deal with anything this whole race. Other than the occasional birds he collided with, Shinra couldn't even call this a challenge. At first he was tempted to just portal at each obstacle and jog for the exercise. Or better yet, just make a portal at the exit and re-emerge at the entrance; finish the race in seconds.

Except he had a feeling they wouldn't accept that.

"Fuck you Icy-Hot!" He heard Bakugo scream.

He spotted the explosive teen gaining quick on the elemental heir. He had the advantage, not having to touch the ground. Except Bakugo's temper took the wheel and practically goaded the teen to go on the assault. In a race. "Midnight did say that anything was a go..." Shinra said with a hint of amusement. He shrugged. Not like it was his problem. He had enough fun for now. "Time to end this." He was about to snap his fingers to open a portal when a massive explosion 10 times the normal size went off.

"Would you look at that!" Mic echoed. "Someone must've gotten desperate!"

"INCOMING!"

Shinra wasn't ashamed to admit that he was completely caught off guard when he saw Midoriya flying out the smoke like a bat out of hell. He was riding a robot's shell like a sled, soaring through the air at a pace that was getting increasingly uncomfortable the closer he got-

Just as Shinra conjured up a portal to get out of the way, Midoriya lost his grip on the metal plating and crashed into the free falling warper, pushing both of them into the portal. It was one moment in the air and the next moment, it was a pair of bodies rolling out onto the ground. For a moment, there was only ringing in their ears before the sounds of cheering brought them back to attention.

"Nobu Shinra comes in First Place!" Present Mic announced with a celebratory roar of the crowds. "Midoriya Izuku hitches a ride for Second Place!"

Shinra wasn't even sure how they found out who came first until he opened his eyes and saw his fingers touching the finish line. With a grunt, he started pushing the green haired student off of him and sit himself up. "Did it hurt?"

"Huh? What?" Midoriya groaned. "Well, yeah that explosion-"

"When you fell from Heaven?"

By the time Todoroki charged in at third with a fuming Bakugo rushing for the immediate fourth place, the two spotted Shinra laughing his ass off as Midoriya pushed him back to the ground with an embarrassed/angry blush. "I should've known you'd cheat your way first place!" Bakugo growled out as he hunched over to catch his breath. Todoroki had already moved off to the side to be alone.

Shinra rolled his eyes. "Not my fault they picked a game that's completely one sided for anyone that's not me." Then he pointed at the bomber. "Plus, you didn't have any issues either. You flew over every obstacle like I did, so I don't know how the fuck you came in fourth after Todoroki."

A tick mark appeared over Bakugo's forward as more and more students rampaged onto the field.

Soon enough, the horns blared once the first 42 students stepped over the finish.

"And the first game of the festival is over!" Midnight called out at her podium. Her cheeks grew pink at the sight of out of breath, sweaty students. She bit her bottom lip. "Take a 5 minute break before we move on to the next challenge!" The holographic scoreboard popped up overhead, showing the placements of the individual students for everyone in the stadium while the students themselves gathered up.

"Deku-kun, that was amazing!" Uraraka was the first to approach the greenette. Her hair stuck to her face from all the sweat.

"Yeah, what the hell did you even do anyway?" Shinra pondered. He noticed Iida off in the background, mumbling to himself in disbelief about coming in 7th place with an engine quirk.

"Yeah, yeah!" Mina popped up too. Both her and Uraraka beamed with excitement.

Midoriya took a step back from the sudden attention. "W-Well," He stammered. "I took a bit of time to think before rushing ahead. Todoroki and Kacchan were in the lead, but they were being careful as to not set off the bombs. But there were too many people making mistakes between me and them for me to catch up. I would've just gotten sent back if I tried, so I..." He chuckled in embarrassment and scratched his cheek. "Sort of gathered up the mines and set them all off at once?"

"You didn't even use your quirk at all, did you?" Shinra inquired with a knowing grin.

Midoriya sent him a warning glare.

"Of course he couldn't." Mina sighed with a pout. "Even though I wanted to see him punch another 0-Pointer again. Guess he only goes Plus Ultra for damsels in distress." She covered her giggling mouth as she watched both Uraraka and Midoriya turn a shade of red.

"Yeah, instead he piggy-backed my portal to the finish."

"I didn't mean to!"

"Meh, guess it's a better alternative than watching you take one jump and end up crippled on the ground." Shinra teased with a mock wave of his hand.

"His quirk can be a game changer though!" Uraraka interjected. "But it's not like we don't have Recovery Girl in case he needs it."

"Pretty sure he doesn't want to go around shattering bones on purpose. He's just lucky he didn't need to use it for the first challenge."

Mina grinned. "Imagine he manages to win the festival without using it?"

"Ha!" Shinra exclaimed, wiping a fake tear. "Fighting me would be a death sentence then. We all know there's gonna be a tournament and I'm gonna end up fighting one of the top 4 in our class."

"Someone's cocky." Mina deadpanned.

Uraraka reacted similarly. "Yeah, you're kinda riding your own hype."

"I am the hype."

Midoriya sighed. He didn't look forward to facing off against the teen in front of him. "So what do you guys think the next challenge is going to be?"

"Probably something team based." Uraraka tapped her cheek to think. "First round would be a free for all. Second round has enough people to make groups. And the final round is always a tournament. With that in mind," Uraraka was quick to step close to Midoriya. "I hope we end up on a team together. I think it would be exciting. You know, as long as you don't plan on using an explosion like that to win again." She laughed.

"U-Uh, I can t-try...!" Midoriya stuttered.

Mina just looked back and forth between the two.

Midnight's voice rang out over the crowds. "Everyone gather up! We'll be going over the next event!"

A list blurred behind her on screen before it came to a stop. "This year will be a Cavalry Battle! In this challenge, everyone will split into groups with a minimum of two and a maximum of four players. There is to be one 'rider' and the rest is to be the 'horse'. Each player will be given a set of points depending on where you placed in the Obstacle Race and will tally up with whomever you team up with. The Rider will hold the points as headbands and the objective of the game is to steal points from enemy teams WITHOUT purposely knocking them to the ground. Doing so will get you disqualified."

There was a not-so-quiet "Fuck!" from Bakugo.

"From 42nd Place and up, there is a tally of 5 points stacked up. From 5 to 10, 10 to 15, and so on! Pick your teams wisely, because even those at the bottom and take victory!" Midnight had a near sadistic gleam in her eye and Shinra was growing a bit concerned as to why she was staring at him so intently. She held a hand up to the screen that showed the point value of first place. "The price of victory is a whopping 10 Million Points! You're practically guaranteed victory by the end of the game no matter how many points you start off with!"

Shinra could feel the eyes bearing down on him like a tidal wave and all he could do was chuckle.

Then chuckles turned into full blown laughter.

The students were given another 5 minute cooldown to think amongst themselves and find groups to build.

Except Shinra was having a surprisingly hard time finding people to work with him. A large majority of players were either more afraid of being at the top or didn't trust their chances working with a wildcard like him. Hell, even his own classmates were hard pressed to join up with him. Obviously there was an increased rivalry built up between him, Midoriya, Todoroki and Bakugo. But that shouldn't extend to the rest.

Iida had come out of nowhere with a burst of determination to rival Midoriya and so ended up with Todoroki. Because fuck him, right?

Uraraka was felt more comfortable teaming up with Midoriya over anyone else. No surprise there.

Tokoyami was picked up by Midoriya before Shinra could even find him. So fuck him too.

The rest of his class were kinda iffy when it came to being near him.

But it did tick him off a bit when even Kirishima chose his side and picked Bakugo.

And for whatever retarded reasoning, most of 1B was choosing to make the game about class rivalry. Due to that blonde lunatic who hadn't stopped staring at him from a distance. And just when Shinra was about to ask Midnight if she could make an exception for him to play solo, someone approached him.

A strong tap on his back caught his attention. "Nobu-san, would you mind joining up with me?"

The white head looking at them from top to bottom before shrugging. He grinned.

"Sure. Why the hell not?"

The Sports Festival is kicking off to a good start! However there's an uneasiness building up on the sidelines! Along with an unexpected meeting with Toga and Uraraka? Who wants to take guesses on who Shinra's gonna end up working with?

Stay tuned for the next one!
