The walk to the infirmary was more unsettling than it should have been, with Nemo holding a towel to his face, informing Jekyll of what happened correctly. Pretty sure his wound had stopped bleeding by now, but he had kept it in place at Henry's insistence.

Well, Nemo was more than capable of taking care of himself, and a small scratch would not cause lasting damage other than perhaps a minor scar; the Captain knew Henry liked being useful, where he could be a doctor and not just a storage vessel for Hyde to come out of when needed.

'Is there anything I can do?'

'Nothing, for now, Jekyll, don't worry, Mr. Hyde will get his hands dirty.'

The subtle bitterness in his friend's voice when he had informed Nemo one time of this encounter spoke to how much the words wounded him; they all had been out of line several times with each other, not knowing who to trust, and at the time unwilling to even try.

Nemo knew that the hunter had meant little from his comments to every league member, ranging from mildly rude to surprised-Ms-Harker-did-not-slap-him-senseless, though Quatermain had quickly stopped once he realized her true nature as a vampire.

No one was that stupid. Let their enemies be the ones who received impromptu tracheotomies from a vampire.

But, there was no denying they had come a long way from how they started.

The accusations against Skinner still weighed heavily on everyone's consciousness, despite the invisible man not holding it against them in the slightest, even joking about it once and a while.

Or use it as a shallow defense when something around the ship went missing.

Coming across Jekyll in the hallway, ready to break apart, to give into whatever nightmare Hyde had created in their shared mind, being prepared to defend his ship to the end, Nemo remembers the tight grip on his sword as he commanded Henry to control his supposedly evil half.

"Your talk is well and good sir! But your own past is far from laudable!"

A stinging accusation, but not a wrong one.

The stuttered apology afterward was worse. Made Nemo dislike him even more at that moment, refusing to be held accountable for both action and words, trying to backtrack his anger, pretend he was nothing but a meek man, cling to his definition of goodness, trying to walk away from any confrontation at the cost of his dignity.

The Captain had quickly called him on this reaction in the face of his darkness.

"Has Hyde... killed?" the subtle pause between 'Hyde' and 'Killed' he allowed into his voice, the burning question that he already knew the answer to, forcing the doctor to stop in his tracks to answer it, if for no other reason than an attempt at gaining some understanding from the Captain.

'He...has done every evil a man can do...and my curse, I recall his actions'

'I sympathize, my curse; I recall my own.'

Everyone had to learn to accept the consequences of their actions and live with the aftermath—friendship and loyalty as their reward for succeeding.

Humorous, that he would think of such things now.

Perhaps he was allowing himself to become more sentimental. Still, Nemo guessed that risk of death and having your life's work perverted for some twisted dream and only overcoming it through hard work and learning to trust those not his crew would have softened him a bit on it.

The ships doctor, Roshan, always thought he was a practical man, taking the including of Ms. Harker and Dr. Jekyll in stride; who was he to complain about the extra hands? Only a fool would complain with how large the crew was and with how many injuries happened on an almost weekly basis, not that it was a surprise, it was a vast ship that needed maintenance and when the mood caught a crew member right...and beer was involved...

The extra eyes babysitting was rather lovely, now that he thought about it.

Though some of those extra eyes sometimes found their own trouble, such as Mister Skinner's horrific burns from the flamethrower during the factory incident but, he had only done it to save young Sawyer, the American practically gorging the man on sweets as thanks spoke to his gratitude.

But their much-respected Captain walking in with a shockingly bloody rag to his face with Doctor Jekyll at his heels was not something he expected to encounter that morning.

Nemo was now more disturbed with a healthy dose of confusion and annoyance.

The infirmary was empty save its confused and concerned ship doctor, beds all made and clean of so much as a speck of dust.

"Captain! What has happened to you? Are we under an attack?" Roshan said as he made to take a pistol out of the drawer where he kept it, just in case an enemy appeared behind the two, only for Nemo to hold up his hand for calm.

"Peace, there is no attack, just an accident with an ill crew member."

"A crew member did that to you!?"

"Not purposefully," Nemo tried to explain as he sat down on one of the beds to make it easier for Jekyll to work before removing the towel from his face and catching a glimpse of himself in the mirror.

It was a rather jagged cut for having been made by glass, but most injuries involving it did not include trying to assist a man in the throes of a living nightmare.

It ran from the middle of his cheek and trailed down, curving a bit to reach his chin, deeper and broader than he had initially thought, the sting of its presence more prominent now that adrenaline had run out. Unfortunately, it also started to leak blood again the moment he removed the makeshift bandage.

"It will need stitches," Jekyll noted, grabbing up a bottle of numbing gel, Nemo offering nothing but a nod. Both a bit disturbed at the lack of another person in the infirmary. Had the person just finished their seizures and literally up and walked away? No, that was not possible. Such attacks left people groggy and not themselves for a while afterward.

And Nemo mentioning glass, such a scene couldn't just be wiped clean in a few minutes, the Captain had raced to find the person help and dragged him back just as quickly, but that also brought up another question.

Why had no one else been alerted? If someone had screamed so loudly, Nemo had heard it from his room,it would have rung through the ship and possibly dozens of men rushing to their aid, the spot would have been far from empty, with a crewman possibly right behind Nemo or heading to the infirmary to get Roshan or even go to find Mina in the town.

Henry had not heard anything of the sort despite his sensitive hearing either, some muffled clanging, but on the Nautalis, where every loose bolt or scuff mark was tended to obsessively, especially after she had almost sunk because of the bombs being overlooked, such noises were far from a rarity before or after.

But surely he would have heard something, right? Hyde most certainly would have gleefully informed him if he heard a scream of all things, if Jekyll himself was too distracted, any chance to get out for his beloved sport.

This morning, Edward proved rather well behaved; that was almost scarier than a bloodied Nemo. Almost.

Nemo's fingers tapped against the table as he stood still as possible to allow his friend to stitch up his cheek. The numbing meant the Captain felt no pain, but the needle being so close to his eye at points and the sensation of it going through skin and thread, pulling flesh tight, was far from a feeling he enjoyed.

But injured or not, he had to get to the bottom of this before it got completely out of hand; if it was a crew member who suffered from convulsions, he would talk to them about it; perhaps Nemo might be forced to order them to only go places with someone else to make sure they did not hurt themselves again or was this all an elaborate prank at his expense?

No

Not even Skinner or Sawyer seemed the type to pull something of this magnitude, much less drag someone else into it.

The doppelganger was also not someone Nemo recognized. He certainly would have remembered if someone bore such a likeness to any of his allies. His friends all knew better than to allow guests on the Nautilus without her captain's knowledge and permission.

Much less allow one to hurt themselves or draw the blood of another.

"I will accompany you back to your rooms; if someone is hurt, they might have tried coming to the infirmary but got turned around and headed for your quarters," Jekyll said as he allowed Nemo his space to get to his feet.

"I believe that would be wise. Let's go now, Doctor, before they see fit to keep moving in their condition," Nemo agreed as he straightened what he could of his appearance for some semblance of order despite the large bandage on his face and browning bloodstains on his coat.

The plan agreed upon, the two headed back to the Captain's rooms to find their mystery man, hopefully.
