Chapter 1: The Headmaster's Plan

Authors Note: Hi all, just wanted to reiterate, that Pets in this 'verse are treated at their Master's whim. This means that they can be pretty much slaves, or the 'Most Treasured Possession'. Please note there may be further warnings, and Harry currently is treated as a slave, with all that entails. As always, don't like, please don't read, and please adhere to any further warnings.

On Wednesday 24th July 1991, Master received a Strange LetterTM, it was thicker and heavier than normal, but Harry knew better than to investigate. Instead, he put the Strange LetterTM on top of the post pile next to Master's plate, before returning to cooking breakfast. Once breakfast was sorted, Harry hurried to begin his chores while Master same down and started eating.

After a while, however, Harry was summoned back to the dining room, to find Master looking at the Strange LetterTM.

"It looks like you've been accepted into a special school. As such, we will be going up to London this afternoon, so I expect all your chores to be completed before we leave."

"Yes, Master." Harry said softly, before starting to clear the table.

"I will, of course, be adding to the rules." Master commented idly as he picked up his newspaper.

Knowing Master didn't like it when he talked too much, Harry retreated back to the kitchen, his mind spiralling from what Master had said.

Despite his confusion, Harry still managed to complete most of the day's chores before his collar buzzed, sending him back to Master.

"Get me some sandwiches, then we will be heading out, so I expect all the chores done before I've finished." Master said firmly.

Bowing, Harry scurried off to fetch his Master's lunch.

They were joined by Master's friend on their trip to London. As it turned out, his daughter had also been accepted at the school, and knew where they had to go for supplies. Needless to say, Master assigned Miss Hermione in charge during school.

While at the bank, Harry noticed that the Goblins kept giving them, or, more specifically, Master, weird looks. Upon noticing, Master lost no time in rushing them back out to the Alley. Mr Granger separated off to collect most of the supplies, plus some more stuff for Hermione, as Master took Harry for robes.

Being led into the robe shop, the assistant took one look at Harry's collar, before turning and showing them through to an isolated backroom, where Harry was promptly ignored after taking his measurements. Harry didn't mind being ignored, it was safer this way, although he would prefer the tape measure to leave him alone.

Once the robes were obtained, Master led the way down the Alley to Ollivander's. Harry quickly decided he did not like the crazy old shop owner, as they slowly went through the available wands. Eventually, he matched with a holly wand of eleven inches, with a phoenix feather core.

Knowing his place, Harry ignored the conversation between Master and Mr Ollivander, after all, he was just Master's Pet, his Property to do with as he wished.

While all this was happening down in England, up in the Scottish Highlands, safely ensconced in his rooms at the top of a tower (located in the Magical Castle of Hogwarts), sat one Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore. Said Headmaster was barely containing his glee. Harry Potter's letter had gone out, and, according to his predictions, the young boy's Aunt and Uncle would prevent him from reading it, allowing him to send Hagrid on the boy's eleventh birthday. This would allow him to introduce the boy to the wonders of the Wizarding World, and establish a connection, provided the boy's relatives had brought him up correctly.

Of course, Hagrid being Hagrid, would tell the poor boy all about the wondrous Headmaster, the Glory of Gryffindor, the Horror that befell his parents, and the Evil that was Slytherin. All while limiting the boy's knowledge of the world. It certainly wouldn't do for the boy to know about all his various titles, vaults, and public standing!

And, once September 1st came round, Dumbledore would be able to claim Magical Guardianship of the boy and put said vaults and the Wizengamot votes to use! He'd spent years working out just what needed to be done and planning the best ways to implement it. Naturally, there were several tomes and artefacts in the boy's vaults that would be absolutely wasted on the boy – he'd need to get an audit of the entire vaults sorted first thing. Although he supposed that the Potter Cloak of Invisibility could be given to the boy – that, or he could keep the Cloak for himself, and gift the boy a copy? Now, that was an idea!

Gathering up his various spell books, the Headmaster set to work looking for the required information for creating a copy. It helped that the boy would have never seen the Cloak before, nor would he recognise the Family Magic such Artefacts were steeped with. Seeing as he spent the day locked in his office, pouring over old tomes to find the required spell, it was no surprise that the Headmaster missed the response to a certain Mr. H Potter's acceptance letter.

The next morning, straight after breakfast, Dumbledore set off for Diagon Alley to obtain the necessary items for the cloak. First stop was Madam Malkins. There was no point in running the spell if he didn't have a cloak to perform it on. He found a lovely purple cloak with silver and gold stars, and a silver clasp. It was perfect, and only cost 5G, too! The rest of the items were easily obtained at the Apothecary, mainly sage and thyme, and a vial of Morning Dew.

Then, it was back to Hogwarts to cast the, slightly illegal, spell. Oh, alright, it was very illegal, the category that, if caught, meant time in Azkaban. But, fortunately, being Headmaster had it's perks. As he controlled the school's wards, he could perform as many borderline-dark Magics as he wanted to, and with none the wiser! Oh, it was a good day when he poisoned old Armando Dippet!

And so, on July 31st, Hagrid was sent to collect young Harry from the Dursleys. Sadly, due to spending so much time locked in his office preparing everything for Harry's return, Dumbledore hadn't realised that no more letters had needed to be sent. The plan he'd crafted itself was simple.

Hagrid would arrive, inform Harry he was a wizard and scare the Dursleys – maybe perform a tiny amount of magic on them. He would then 'gift' the boy with a cake loaded with potions (compulsions, trust Hagrid, loyalty, and a friendship one geared towards young Ronald Weasley). Then, with Hagrid firmly cemented as a 'trusted adult', the friendly half-giant would take the boy to Diagon Alley, making a spectacle of him at the Leaky Cauldron. It would not do to allow the general public to forget that Harry would now be attending Hogwarts.

Upon arriving at Gringotts, Hagrid was to make sure that A, Harry's interest was caught up in Vault 713, and B, he didn't take too much out of the Trust Vault. Another reason for sending Hagrid was to ensure the boy didn't get anything not on his list (which was a special list he'd given to Hagrid, he'd spent years telling anyone who'd listen that the boy was being tutored and trained in the Wixen ways). At some point in their trip, Hagrid would have to inform the boy just how, exactly, his parents died. Then, drop him off back home, with his train ticket, but without explaining how to reach the platform, thus setting up the perfect meeting with the Weasleys.

The staff breakfast was just finishing when the doors to the Great Hall swung open to admit the Gamekeeper.

"Hagrid?" Dumbledore asked in confusion. "I thought you were heading to the Alley this morning?"

"Aye, Sir, I was, 'cept I could'na fin' 'em." Hagrid admitted, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.

Dumbledore frowned, before smiling.

"Ah, they've most likely gone on holiday, I should imagine."

McGonagall's eyes narrowed.

"Who has gone on holiday, Albus?" she asked.

"Oh, nothing to worry about, my dear, just young Mr Potter and his relatives, it appears that he's been having a slight difficulty with receiving his letter, so I asked Hagrid here to pay him a visit." Dumbledore chuckled, causing McGonagall to raise an eyebrow.

"Oh? How peculiar, I received a response from Mr Potter a week ago. He said that he didn't require any help, as a close friend of the family will also be attending, so he knew where to find the Alley for his supplies. Honestly, Albus, you should have asked, instead of assuming, and wasting Hagrid's morning." she huffed, leaving the Headmaster gaping and internally scrambing.
