As we went to the back to meet up with Erik and began to plant the seeds, Walter approached us.

"Say, I got an idea."

"What is it?" I asked.

"How about tonight, we head to the village bar?" Walter suggested.

"Hmm, that doesn't sound like that bad of an idea…" I replied. "Let's do it!"

As we were planting the seeds, clouds started to darken the sky.

"Oh come on…" Erik complained. "Another storm?"

"Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you guys, it rains a lot more often around this area." Walter explained.

"What the hell is this place, London?" I commented. Jamie laughed.

"I don't get it." Erik replied.

"Been there for vacation once." I explained. "There wasn't one day where the forecast didn't show some sort of chance of rain."

"Ah…" Erik replied.

Just as we finished planting the last seed, the first drop of rain fell.

We decided to head inside.

"Well, while we're at it, our miles will discuss what we are going to do as to the plan." I stated, as we all gathered in the middle of the first floor.

"Alright, shoot." Walter replied.

"We have two teams." I started, "Team one will be on the frontlines to blend in with the real pumpkin head members and strike back just in case. Team two will focus on getting all the players out through the hole in the floor of our house. When all the players get out alive, we focus on taking out the pumpkin people."

"With what?" Jamie asked.

"Our weapons, of course." I answered.

"Mike, the last time we tried that, half of us failed miserably."

"Well, this is different, because we all have fighting experience, right?" I asked.

"I'm a Mineplex pro…" Erik said. "Well, I was. I played back in the 1.9 days."

"Okay, what about you Jamie?" I asked.

"Was on the Hypixel leaderboard for a whole week." Jamie said. "That was almost a year ago."

"Jos–"

"Only thing I've done is fight a wither." Josh interrupted. "And I died three times before I managed to kill it."

"Well shit, guess we need to train this kid." I commented, pointing to Walter.

"And you Walter?"

"I've played a PVP match on 2B2T before…" He said. "Without hacks."

Everyone's eyes widened.

"Welp, Walter is DEFINITELY going on the frontlines…" I stated.

"So, is this when we do the training arc?" Josh asked.

"Bet your ass it is. You need to learn how to attack and block first…" I started. "Then we'll move on to specific attack maneuvers, then you'll be going against multiple players using what you learned."

"Oh god…" Josh stated in fear.

"Oh don't worry, you won't die." I replied. "We'll do all the fights at the PVP stadium, so you will be given a totem."

"A totem?"

I rubbed my hand across my face. "How the hell do you not know what a totem of undying is…"

"OOOH, THAT totem…" Josh realized. "My bad."

"Anyways, why don't we just head there now, it has a roof so we won't get rained on." I replied.

"Mike, it costs money to head there." Walter said.

"It does?" I replied, confused. "When me and those street guys went in, they didn't ask fo–"

"Wait…" Walter stopped himself. "Who were those kids?"

"I didn't get their name tags, but one thing I do know is I have one of their swords and a poison arrow." I replied.

"Mind if I take a look at the sword?" Walter asked.

"Knock yourself out." I replied, pulling the iron sword out and handing it over. Walter inspected the blade.

"Hmm, the name tag. "Slader."

"Pfft. Sounds lame." I stated.

"Wait, I know who this sword belongs to… this sword belongs to Reece… He's the most known PVP'er in this village…"

"So you're telling me I kicked the ass of the most known fighter in this village, and two of his friends?" I asked.

"Yes…" Walter replied. "Now we're definitely going to that bar… You'll probably never have to pay for another drink as long as you live here!"

"Huh…" I replied in shock. "For the most popular PVP'er, he didn't put up much of a fight."

I headed towards the door. "How about we just practice with sticks in the backyard?"

"That sounds good." Erik replied, pulling out two sticks and passing them to me. Walter also handed back the iron sword. Grabbing it, I stuffed it back into my inventory. Motioning for Josh to come with me, I led him to the back yard and passed a stick over to him.

"Alright, let's just work on your swing for now." I started. "Try aiming for my stick."

As Josh held the stick in one hand, he approached me, trying to swing at my stick, but missed entirely.

"Try holding it with both hands…" I suggested in a sarcastic voice.

As Josh gripped the stick with both hands, he raised it and swung down on my stick, to my surprise hitting it right in the center.

"Good, good. Now do it again." I said.

As Josh lined up for another swing, sure enough that one landed as well.

"Alright, this is a good start." I stated. "You can hit still targets. Now, let's move on to moving targets."

I began to strafe from left to right. "Try hitting my stick just like before."

As Josh raised his stick, he began to swing aimlessly, only landing like 3 out of 10 hits.

"Okay, we need to work on that." I replied. "So, don't just swing at me aimlessly like you just did."

"How am I supposed to hit you when you're moving all over the place?" Josh argued.

"You anticipate." I replied. "I was going in a basic left to right strafe, all you had to do is anticipate where I'd be next, and swing there." I explained. "Plan your attacks ahead."

"Oh, I see now."

Sure enough, after my explanation, Josh started connecting more swings with my stick. He was quickly getting the hang of it.

"Well, you learn fast!" I commented. "Great job."

"Uhh, thanks." Josh responded.

"Alright, now let's switch."

"What?"

"I attack, you block." I replied.

"But I don't have a shield?" Josh reasoned.

"You don't need a shield." I explained. "Just hold your stick out to block my attacks."

"Uh… Okay…" Josh replied.

"Aight, let's go."

As I approached Josh with my stick, he held his out in front of him, and I took a swing aiming for his chest. He anticipated it and moved the stick just in time to block my attack. I went for another swing at the face. He blocked that too. Then I went for the legs.

Unlike the last two times, Josh didn't anticipate my attack at all. I swung my stick directly towards his kneecaps, and sure enough, I hit them. Josh's body glowed red for a split second and he stepped back a little bit.

"Shit…" Josh blurted.

"Why didn't you anticipate that?" I asked.

"I thought you were going to go for the chest again…" Josh explained.

"Well, clearly your anticipation was wrong." I stated "were you focusing on me, or the stick?"

"I was focusing on where your eyes were." Josh explained.

"See, that's where you messed up." I replied. "That's a good general tip, but I could just be looking somewhere completely different on purpose just to throw you off, and that's basically what I just did."

"Okay." Josh replied.

"And if you're on the battlefield out there, the eyeball trick ain't going to work at all, because all of the enemies are going to be wearing masks." I explained. "You gotta keep your eyes on the blade. Not the player."

The clouds began to clear up, showing the sun as it was nearing the horizon.

"Already?" I stated.

"Well, I guess that concludes our training for today…" Josh stated, heading back inside. As I followed, Walter was in the middle of the room.

"Yall ready to head to that bar?" He asked.

"Sure!" I replied.

"I'm in." Josh added.

"I'll go, but Mike owes me a drink." Erik stated.

"Uh, says who?" I asked.

"I set up the garden AND helped you plant the seeds." Erik replied.

"Touché…" I replied.

"I'll go." Jamie replied.

"Alright, let's head out." Walter said, as we all stepped outside and made our way to the bar. When we arrived there, thankfully the players from this morning were nowhere to be seen.

As we walked through the door, one of the workers there immediately recognized me.

"Hey, you're the guy that kicked Reece's ass!" He stated.

Almost everyone at that bar stood up and clapped.

"Bravo!"

"Yea, you go man!"

"Nice fight, you won fair and square!"

"Reece fucked with the wrong player!"

"Somebody get this guy, and his friends, a drink on the house." The guy said, as he held the door open and led us to an empty table. "By the way, what's your name bro?"

"Name's Mike." I replied, as we all sat down. As I sat into the left side of the table, Jamie sat next to me, along with Erik, while Walter White and Josh sat across from us.

"Bet, what do you guys want to drink?"

"Uhh, what do you have?" Erik asked.

"Well, since this is a minecraft server, we don't have anything like wine or beer, but we do have potions that somehow taste unbelievably good." The guy stated. "Why don't I get you all started with some potions of healing?"

"Actually, that would be splendid." I replied. "Thank you very much."

"Alright, I will be out with those potions in a jiffy, and I'll bring out a stack of bread for you all to snack on while I'm at it."

"Thanks man!" Erik commented.

"Hmm." Walter started. "This may be the one place in town where you're more popular than me."

We all shared a laugh.

As the waiter came back with the healing potions and bread, he handed us each a book containing the restaurant's menu.

"You guys know what you want yet?" He asked, as someone walked past our table giving me a thumbs up.

"Uh, yeah, I'd like the kids menu." Erik replied.

Me and Jamie busted out laughing.

"No, I'm serious." Erik replied.

Walter couldn't hold in his laughter anymore. "How old are you?" He said, catching his breath.

"Alright… and uh, what about you guys?" The waiter continued on, holding in his laughter as well.

"Don't forget to get this bitch some crayons with that kids menu." I commented. Jamie absolutely died.

"Oh, that's too funny…" She commented.

"Yeah, I'm not even gonna look at this…" I said, pushing the book back. "Surprise me."

"Right on!" The waiter said, pulling out another book and jotting something down.

"Lemme just get a few steak and porkchop." Erik asked.

"I'll take what he's having." Walter replied.

"I'll take some chicken, mutton, with some mushroom stew on the side, please." Jamie asked.

"Ooh, nice choices…" The waiter commented, jotting down the orders.

"Could I just get a bunch of steak with carrots?" Josh asked.

"Sure!" The waiter replied. "Alright, Imma get this stuff prepped for ya."

The waiter left, and I looked out the window. Sure enough, the sun was setting across the horizon. Someone passed by the table, stopping.

"Mind if I shake your hand?" He asked, his hand outstretched. I shook his hand politely.

"So, these are your friends huh?" He asked.

"Yeah, I suppose they are." I replied.

"And the girlfriend!" He said, pointing towards Jamie. She laughed hesitantly.

"Hey man, I'll buy you a refill…" He said, placing some emeralds on the table, looking at me and Jamie.

"Have a great night you two." He said, leaving the table.

"What was that about?" Erik asked.

"Well, I guess I can't argue with free money…" I said, taking the emeralds up. Popping the cap off one of the healing potions the waiter handed out, I took a sip.

"Oh shit… that waiter wasn't wrong, this tastes great…" I commented. Jamie was the next to try.

"Huh, it kind of tastes like fruit punch…" Jamie added, taking a sip of hers.

Walter took the cap off his as well and took his first sip.

"Oooh, I love that flavor…" he commented, taking another sip.

"Eh…" Erik said, taking a sip out of his bottle. "Wish it had some fizz to it…"

"Maybe the fire resistance potion will have that…" I assumed. Just then, the waiter came back with our food.

"Alright, enjoy it guys!" He said as he passed all the food out.

"Nice…" I said, looking at my food. "It's a little bit of everything! You really surprised me alright…"

"Yeah, I figured I'd give you a taste of everything…" The waiter said. "Let me know if you like it!"

"Oh, Erik wants to try a fire resistance potion." I called out, handing the emeralds over.

"Alright, I'll get that for you." He said, taking the emeralds. "And don't worry about the food, it's on the house."

"Oh come on, we have to pay you somehow…"

"Don't worry about it." the waiter said, leaving the table.

Another person passed by to greet me.

"Bro, Reece hasn't been beaten in like weeks! How'd you do it?" He asked.

"With a diamond sword." I replied. The man laughed.

"Wow, you should've seen the look on that dude's face when he stepped out of that stadium…"

"Really?" I replied.

"Yeah, he looked like he was hit by a damn freight train!"

Everyone at the table laughed.

"Well, I gotta go back to my table now, have a great night guys! Oh, and congrats on the girl by the way!"

Jamie sighed and started eating her food.

"Is something wrong?" I asked, looking at her.

"No, I'm good." Jamie replied.

"Well, if you feel uncomfortable at all with these people pulling up to the table, I'm down to leave." I said, taking a bite out of my food.

"No, I don't want to ruin this for you." Jamie replied.

"Ruin? You're not messing up anything…" I added. "Just want to make sure you're feeling okay, that's all."

Jamie smiled awkwardly.

"So, how did you and Josh get stuck in this game?" I asked, pointing to Walter across the table.

"I won an entry to this testing program at my high school." Walter explained.

"Huh, lucky." I replied. "I had to pay for my entry."

"My parents signed me up because they wanted to get me out of the house for the weekend." Josh commented.

We all chuckled a bit. "Oh wait till they find out about the whole one year thing…"

"Wait… I'm stuck here for a year?" Josh replied, confused.

"You weren't told?" I asked.

"No, I was just told that I would be able to leave this virtual world whenever the experiment is completed."

"Oh boy…" I commented.

Another guy passed by the table.

"Walter, my man!" He said, dapping him up.

"How've you been?" Walter asked.

"Doin fine, how bout you?"

"Oh, I've been managing."

"Man, Walter White, and the blue hoodie guy that beat Reece's ass. What a fuckin combo!" He commented.

"My name's Mike." I introduced myself.

"And who's the girlfriend?"

Looking at Jamie, she was staring blankly into her food.

"Uhh…"

"Hey man, is she okay?"

Jamie scooted over a bit. "Can you let me out please…" She whispered into my ear. Getting up, she scooted out of the booth and walked towards the exit of the bar.

"I just need some fresh air, I'll be right back." She said as she went out the door.

"Hmm, what's up with her?" He asked me.

"You know, I don't really know." I replied.

"Well, I guess that shouldn't be my business, so I'll leave you alone. Have a great night."

"Thanks, you too." I replied. I took another few bites of the food, and noticed that it had been a while since Jamie left, and she hadn't come back yet.

"Excuse me guys…" I said getting up.

"You gonna go check on your girlfriend?" Erik asked.

"Shut it." I snapped, heading for the exit, taking a healing potion with me.

As I exited the restaurant, Jamie was sitting on the floor beside the door, leaning against the wall.

"Hey, you good?" I asked her.

"Yeah…" Jamie said, looking at the moon.

"You want to go back in, or nah…" I asked.

"I…"

"Mike?"

"Yeah?"

"Did you tell everyone I was your girlfriend or something?"

"Uh, no? I think they just assumed that because you were sitting next to me." I replied. "And because that's why that Reece dude wanted to fight me."

"You know, you didn't have to go through with that."

"Well, I did it anyway. Those players were messing with you and I was having none of it."

Jamie sighed. "Thank you, but you shouldn't be going that far for me."

"Are you going to be okay?" I asked.

"I… I think I should just go home." Jamie replied.

"I can walk with you."

"No. Go back inside and hang out with your friends."

"I'm perfectly fine walking with you. I insist."

Jamie sighed. "Okay…"

We walked silently across the path, as I took a sip of the healing potion, passing it to Jamie.

"Want some?"

"Sure…" Jamie said, taking a sip of the potion, then passing it back.

"Hey, Jamie, I need you to do me a favor."

"What is it?"

"When we head back to the village, I need you to stay with the others."

"What?"

"It's going to be dangerous, so I need you to remain with the others and help the other villagers escape while I take care of the griefer kiddos."

"Wait… what?"

"I'm going to be holding back the invaders, and you'll be in the tunnel to make sure everyone escapes safely."

"You know I can't do that."

"And why is that?"

"Mike, you're going to get yourself killed."

"Well, so will you if you're on the surface."

"Yeah, and what I do with my life isn't your problem. I'm going to be up there on the surface."

"Well, when your decisions could possibly result in your death, that's when I'm stepping in."

"Mike, I'm not letting you go fight these people by yourself."

"You're not winning this argument."

"No, I mean it. I'm going to be with you."

"No, you won't."

"Yes, I will."

"Jamie, You are NOT risking your life for me."

"Yes, I AM!"

"Jamie, listen to me, you aren't going to be fighting with me. It's too risky."

"Too risky? Speak for yourself! You don't stand a chance against them!"

"And neither do you. That's final. You are no–"

Jamie grabbed my shoulders and pulled me in, and she closed her eyes. Suddenly, her lips connected with mine. They were really soft. As she let go of me and opened her eyes, she started to tear up.

I was speechless.

"I–"

"I don't want to lose you, Mike. You mean too much to me now."

"W-wha–"

"I love you, Mike."

I couldn't formulate a response.

"I'm sorry if I'm weirding you out but, I really do, and I don't know what the fuck I would do if I lost you out there… So please, I'm begging you. I don't care if you hate me, but please, just l-let me come with you… After that, y-you can h-hate me all y-you fucking want! P-please!"

"Oh Jamie…"

I wrapped my arms around her and returned the kiss. I could sense the tears trickling down her face, as she wrapped her arms around me. As our lips disconnected I opened my eyes to her crying.

"I could never hate you."

"W-why?" Jamie said, burying her face into my shoulder and breaking down.

"Because…"

"Because I love you too. And I always will."

"P-please… I d-don't want you to d-die…"

"I'm not going to die." I reassured her. "But I want to make sure you don't either. I want to keep you safe."

Jamie tightened her grip, continuing to cry into my shoulder, wetting it a bit.

"I know that sounds a lot like a generic ass anime confession scene, but I mean it Jamie, I love you too. I wouldn't know what I would do if I lost you either. I don't even want to imagine it."

"Could we… g-go… home?" Jamie asked, sniffing.

"Of course we can."

As we let go of each other, we began walking towards the house. Jamie outstretched her hand.

"You w-wanna…"

I interlocked my hand with hers with no hesitation.

"This is probably really embarrassing for you…"

"Not at all." I replied. As we came closer to the house, Jamie seemed to calm down a bit. I opened the door for her, and she walked in. I closed the door behind me and followed her upstairs to the bedroom.

As I unloaded my inventory into one of the chests, I took a sip of the healing potion as Jamie approached me.

"Do you mind if we… kissed again?"
