A/N; It's been four years since I've last updated. I've grown up and life has changed drastically. Recently I've been inspired to write again. Maybe I could finish this story this summer? Please feel free to comment about what you thought about this chapter.

It's been a week since Maura and Jane shared their first kiss. A whole week of overthinking or avoiding the topic at all. It all happened too quickly. Maura only knew the italian for five days, and during that time she stood up to her horrible boyfriend… now ex boyfriend. She went to a faculty party, danced in front of people. The most surprising of them all was when she kissed Jane Rizzoli. It was all overwhelming for Maura. How was she able to gain all this confidence by only spending a mere five days with this wonder, amazing, beautiful…

Maura shook her head, she was getting off track. Zoning out was something she was doing excessively since her kiss with her Jane.

"Mine?" Maura said out loud, which made Susie jump. Maura was quiet their entire lunch period. Only nodding and giving the occasional "interesting" when needed. Susie knew her coworker and close friend was not well. But she couldn't put her finger on it.

"What's yours Maura?" Susie asked, maybe she'll actually get something out of the blonde. Besides the same excuses of her being tired or busy that she's been giving her for the past week. Maura's eyes finally focused on Susie, she seemed as if she just woke up from a dream. She looked around realizing she was in her classroom having lunch.

"Pardon me, I was thinking out loud." Maura didn't feel ready to share her thoughts, especially when she doesn't have them in order. She does not remember a time when she didn't have a plan or didn't exactly understand her feelings or thoughts. It was all new.

Before Susie could respond, the bell rang indicating the end of their lunch period. They both got up and awkwardly smiled at each other. "Well then, I'll see you at the softball game this afternoon then?" Susie asked and pushed up her glasses. Her voice was shaky because of her nerves.

"The girls actually were able to enter into the league this season?" Maura asked, she's been out of the loop for a while. Had she done that on purpose she thought. Has Jane reached out to her? Why was it now she was finally waking up.

"Uh, yes. Don't you remember? Coach Frost invited us to the game. I told him to congratulate Coach Rizzoli on this great achievement." Susie packed up her lunch container and put them in her lunch bag. She was leading her and Maura to the door. She wanted to keep talking to the Doctor but she also really needed to get to her class.

"I'll have to get into contact with Jane, I mean Coach Rizzoli. I've been tired and-"

"Busy." Susie finished her sentence and let out a sigh. "Please keep me posted, It'll be nice to see you there." And with that Susie officially walked across the hall in her class room. Maura watched her colleague go, and moved to the side when her students started to walk in. Maura needed to see Jane. She needed to do it as soon as possible.

"Okay class, please open up your textbooks to page 91."

Meanwhile in the Gym

"Hey Jane, can you pass me that sign in the worksheet?" Frost asked from his desk in their shared office. Jane was still staring at her computer, she didn't respond. It's like she didn't hear him at all. Frost rolled his eyes and got up. He grabs the paper, but not before punching Jane in the arm.

"OW! What the fuck man." Jane rubbed her arm and looked up at her friend with confusion. "I didn't even hit you that hard, stop being dramatic." Frost turned around to make his way back to his seat. "What's your deal?" Jane asked, her voice was horace and she cleared her throat. When was the last time she spoke out loud she wondered.

"What's my deal? What's your deal? You've been acting all weird and closed up. Well, more than usual." Frost snapped back, he's known Jane since they were kids. He always knew when there was something up with her.

"I don't even know what you're talking about." Jane scuffed and turned her attention back to the computer, she was trying to finalize her game plan for the girls first official match this afternoon.

"You can go ahead and pretend like nothings wrong but there is. You've slowly made your way back into your cave. You were finally doing better Jane… Did something happen to Casey?" Frost asked the last part more quietly, trying to connect the dots. The last time Jane was this distant was when she broke up with the soldier a few months back.

"Casey? What? No, I haven't thought about him in weeks. I'm just tired and-" Jane was rubbing her neck while talking when she got cut off. "And busy… that's all you've been saying all week Jane." Frost threw his head back in his chair.

"It's beginning to feel like groundhog day with you using the same excuse."

Jane fell silent, has it already been a week? Has it really been a week since she saw Maura? Since they shared that kiss, basically a scene straight out of the cliche movies she always pretends to hate.

The bell rang and Frost sighed in defeat before standing up. "Hey, why don't you get out of the office for a few. I know it's your free period, go for a jog or something. Your game plan looks great." He wanted to help, but he didn't know how.

Jane took Frost's advice and slipped on her matching set that the Doctor had gotten her. She made her way up stairs to the first floor with her water bottle. She went to reach for the button at the water fountain when she ended up pressing her thumb against someone else's.

"Oh sorry, I was kind of out of it…" Jane started to walk backwards then she saw who it was. "No, it was my fault. I wasn't paying attention." Maura looked up and locked eyes with Jane.

"Jane" was all she got out. She wanted to see the coach as soon as possible but didn't prepare to see her at this moment. Jane offered her a small smile, she wasn't sure what to say. It's been a week since they spoke. Since they've seen each other.

"Congratulations on the girls first game today. I could only assume that they must be ecstatic." Maura spoke again, she started to fidget with the hem of her blouse. Only Jane can make her feel this nervous. Jane opened her mouth to speak then closed it again. She was speechless, she was surprised because she never was. Maura looked effortlessly stunning. She couldn't help but wonder.

"How are you this gorgeous?" Jane said out loud. Smacking her head mentally. She didn't actually mean to say that. 'Seriously Rizzoli, that first thing you say to her in a week is that?' Maura blushed and looked down at her heels. How can Jane make her feel like a teenager all over again?

"Well, I'm quite flattered, Coach Rizzoli." Maura managed to say. Before Jane could respond a student walked in between them. "Um, excuse me can I drink some water?" a shy freshman had asked.

"Sure kid, sorry about that." The two separated some more. "Coach Rizzoli, I was headed to the main office, would you like to accompany me?" Maura asked, she felt so guilty for avoiding Jane. She didn't mean to do it on purpose. She didn't want this chance of them talking to go away. Jane nodded and followed the honey blonde down the hall.

"Jane, I want to apologize-" Maura started to speak but Jane cut her off swiftly. " No, I should apologize. I shouldn't have kissed you, it's obviously made you uncomfortable." Jane spoke and Maura stopped walking. Was she really taking that kiss back? Did Jane actually regret this? "No, Jane I-" Maura tried to save this but Jane was faster. "Maur, I like the friendship we started to develop. I know ruined things with that kiss. You haven't spoken to me in a whole week. Please can we just forget about this. Let's continue our friendship? I've missed you." Jane looked at Maura with pleading eyes, Maura clearly saw that Jane was uncomfortable with being this vulnerable.

"Okay Jane, let's stay friends." Maura forced those words out her mouth. This isn't what she wanted or intended. Why did this conversation just complicate things so much more?
