–Back to Mike POV–
As I could feel myself sinking further down into the soul sand, the sand turned into a sauna. It felt like I was in a giant slow cooker. Struggling to keep my hand above the surface, I felt what I could only assume to be Jamie grab onto it and start pulling, but to her prevail, she didn't seem to be making any progress. I could barely hear her desperate screams for the others to come help her.
The warmth of the soul sand kept increasing, and I could feel my HP start to trickle down point by point.
"Ah shit, I may actually die this time…" I thought to myself. Thankfully, the force Jamie was pulling on my hand subtly increased, and I could feel myself slowly getting dragged back up. Soon, my head emerged from the soul sand to the sight of Jamie with both her hands grabbing mine, with Erik and Josh behind her to ensure that she didn't fall in herself.
"PULL!" She yelled to them, as they tugged harder. As they were slowly making progress, I managed to pull my other arm out and grab onto the blocks that Jamie had placed, and began to pull myself up and out of the trap that was that soul sand pit. Eventually, I was out, and we quickly rushed away from it, all taking a breather.
"What.. the FUCK… was that…" I blurted.
"I don't know, but I think we should get the hell out of this biome before we encounter something like that again…" Erik said. "And while we're at it we should get you cleaned off."
"With what, a water bucket?" I asked. "Don't you know you can't place water in the nether?"
"What about a cauldron?" Jamie asked. "Those can hold water in the nether…"
"Where the hell would we find one of those…?" I said, shaking my arms in an attempt to get the now sticky soul sand off of my arms and armor. "Man, this shit is disgusting…"
"You have a spare set of armor, don't you?" Jamie asked.
"Actually, I do." I said, taking my soul sand covered armor off. "Thank you for reminding me."
As I was taking out the backup set, two arrows flew past us.
"Company." Josh said, pointing out to two skeletons in the distance, already preparing their next shot.
"Oh great…" I said, pulling out a bow and preparing to return fire, as Jamie got in front of me.
"Stay behind me." She said, preparing another shot. I took this chance to put on the set of armor, and as Jamie fired, the arrow hit one of the skeletons in the middle of the face.
I fired my arrow for the other skeleton, but due to the fatigue my arm was feeling, I missed. To my surprise, a stray arrow hit the skeleton I just missed, lighting it on fire as it ran around in circles in a panic.
"Who the hell shot that arrow…?" Jamie asked, looking around. In the distance, we could see a player emerge from the darkness. Taking a closer look, his skin looked like a minion, and he was wearing golden boots and leggings. He stuck the bow I assumed he used to kill the skeleton in his inventory and picked up the bones that the skeleton had dropped.
"Hey, what's up despicable me fan…" I called out to the guy, but as he turned around, he pulled out a stone sword.
"Who are you guys?" He called out, approaching us.
"Hey man, we come in peace." I stated. "Who are you?"
"What are you doing here?" The minion guy asked, as I noticed some of what I could assume to be his friends emerged from the darkness as well.
"We're just looking for supplies." Jamie answered for me, getting a little closer to me, her bow charged.
"Put the weapons down." the minion guy demanded as I looked at his nametag.
"QuickSaw…" I said. "That name doesn't match your skin at all."
"You need to leave." QuickSaw said, approaching me specifically, but Jamie got in between us.
"Lay a finger on him and I'll kill all of you." She said, her bow aimed directly at QuickSaw's face.
"Hmm, I don't know. Sounds like an idle threat to me." QuickSaw said, crossing his arms.
Jamie snapped.
Letting go of the string, she sent an arrow directly into Quicksaw's face and he stumbled back, dropping his sword. Just then, the rest of the group charged us.
"God dammit…" I said, switching my bow out for my diamond sword. "Why'd you have to do that Jamie?"
As we all switched to close combat weapons, the other players approached us and we got into a swordfight. I noticed that the majority of them had no better than an Iron sword, with the worst weapon on their side being a very damaged enchanted wooden sword. As QuickSaw got up, he charged Jamie, and I immediately rushed to her side to block his attack, and returned a swing into his chest, knocking him flat to the ground. I was quickly caught off guard by someone behind me who managed to dig their enchanted wooden sword into my chestplate. I groaned in pain as it rippled through my chest. Turning around, I quickly delivered a blow that the player managed to block, but it cost him the sword, as it snapped in half with the force of mine. He quickly retreated, and so did some of the others, when suddenly…
"HEY!"
We all stopped to look in the direction of the sound. In the distance, I saw a player approaching. He appeared to be a zombie wearing a tuxedo.
"What the hell is going on here?" He asked, as QuickSaw picked himself up.
"These people are trying to kill us!" He yelled.
"Bullshit!" I exclaimed. "You threatened us first!"
"Yeah, and your girlfriend fired the first shot!"
"Quit arguing like male Karens, and explain to me what the fuck just happened here." The tuxedo player demanded, approaching QuickSaw and giving him a healing potion.
"Well, we just came here to look for supplies, came across some skeletons, then this guy took one of our kills then started acting all tough asking us to leave." I explained, looking at the zombie tuxedos name tag.
"ChilledBones?" I said, pointing to it.
"Call me Max." He introduced himself, turning to QuickSaw. "This guy's name is Michael, and I apologize for his act–"
"YOU'RE APOLOGIZING? THAT CRAZY BITCH SHOT ME IN THE FACE!" He yelled, pointing to Jamie.
"In self defense." Jamie added. I chuckled.
"Quit crying about it like a little bitch and get up." Max told Michael. "Anyways, what brings you to the nether?"
"We're looking for supplies to prepare for the next attack." I explained. "We were just about to head to that basalt delta behind you guys to kill some magma cubes, then maybe dig down to grab some ancient debris for netherite."
"Ooh, that's going to be a problem for you guys…" Max explained.
"And why is that?" Erik asked.
"Because we have mined the majority of it." Max answered. "You want netherite, you're gonna have to get it from us."
Me and Jamie looked at each other, Jamie nodding.
"Name your price." I said, looking back to Max.
"Well, we are running low on warped fungus to use for our striders…" He started. "If you could get us some, we'll give you some netherite."
"How much are we talking?" I asked.
"5 is good enough for now. For that, we'll give you 10 pieces of netherite. Actually… you said you wanted to kill some magma cubes as well for their magma cream, right?"
"Uhuh." I answered.
"Tell you what, get us 10 fungus, and I'll give you 20 pieces of netherite and half a stack of magma cream."
"You got yourself a deal." I answered, outstretching my hand.
"You know where to find me?" Max asked, shaking my hand.
"Nope." I answered. "Where?"
"That basalt delta biome behind us is where our group lives." Max answered. "Also, I'll have Michael stick with you guys."
"Why?" Jamie asked.
"To make sure you guys actually follow through." Max answered. "Don't worry, he ain't gonna hurt you guys."
Michael gave Jamie a dirty look, making her feel slightly uncomfortable.
"There's not really a specific time I need the items, so don't feel stressed on getting them by a deadline, unless you guys have a deadline of some sort." Max explained.
"Well, we'd like to get out of here asap just in case the attack happens sooner than I assumed." I explained. "So the quicker we can get the supplies, the quicker we can get out of here."
"Hmm. How many people are you fighting with?" Max asked.
"An entire village." I answered."
"Got blaze rods?"
I took a look in my inventory. "Only four."
"We have tons. I can give you 2 stacks for free."
"Thanks for the offer."
"May I ask who you're fighting against?"
"Why?"
"Just wondering."
"Pumpkin heads."
Max gasped. "So… You must be the rumored leader of the resistance?" He asked.
"You could say that, yes." I answered.
"Holy shit…" Max answered. "I've heard about you from my buddies in the overworld. Good shit. Keep it up man."
"So, does this mean we get a dis–" Erik started, but I read his mind and covered his mouth before he could finish asking.
"Well, I'll leave you all to do your work." Max said. "Oh and…" he took a look at my nametag.
"You sure as hell have a name other than AssBeater420, don't you…"
"Call me Mike."
"Well, pleasure to finally be meeting you. If there is anything you need to aid you and your friends, do not hesitate to let me know."
"Noted." I replied.
As we turned to Michael, he pointed to the right. "There's a warped forest a little bit that way. I suggest we go there first."
"Well, lead the way." I said.
As he started going in the direction he pointed, we all followed closely behind, with me in the front. I could tell Michael was still pissed from what Jamie did.
"Hey man, we got food if you need more stamin—"
"Don't need it." He interrupted me.
"Do we have pumpkin heads to deal with the endermen?" Josh asked.
"Nope." I said, checking my inventory.
"As long as you don't piss me off and have common sense, you will be perfectly fine," Michael said. "Now let's get the damn fungus so I can go back to base and take a nap."
"I think you need a snickers man, you're not you when you're hungry…" I said. We all shared a good laugh, while Michael gave me a dirty look.
"Oh come on man! Have a sense of humor…" Jamie said.
As we trekked through the soul sand valley, the warped forest that Michael was talking about came into view.
"There's only two mobs that spawn here naturally." Josh explained. "Endermen, and striders, which means we should be relatively safe as long as we keep our heads low."
Looking in the distance, I noticed a handful of striders closer to a lava lake.
"Does Max need some extra striders too?" I asked. "We can take some of those back."
"You're forgetting that you need saddles to ride them." Michael said. "Unless we get lucky and find some in here, we can't bring any of them back with us."
Venturing into the forest, we immediately found 2 warped fungi on the ground. Quickly picking them, I stuffed them into my inventory.
"Okay, 2 down, 8 more–"
"Why don't you just hand em to me, I can keep them for you." Michael interrupted.
"Uh… Max wanted them from me, not you. I think it's best if I hold on to them." I replied. Michael rolled his eyes.
I couldn't help but notice the warped forest trees that surrounded the biome. They looked nothing like the regular overworld trees.
"Yknow, fun fact about these trees, their wood is fire resistant." Josh stated.
"E-excuse me… run that by me again?" I said.
"Warped planks can't burn, making it one of the better building blocks to have in the nether." Josh replied.
"Well…" I said, pulling out an axe. "Time to cop myself some." as I started mining some of the planks, Michael crossed his arms. "I thought you guys were in a rush."
"This shit doesn't burn, it'll come in handy for later so it's worth the extra time to grab some." I replied. "We'll get your precious fungus, stop getting on our asses."
"Why don't me and Josh go mine some of the non-flammable wood, while you, Jamie and minion get the fungus, then we regroup here in 5?" Erik offered.
"Yeah, let's just do that." I replied, Jamie approaching me.
"You two be safe." She said.
As I mined the last block of the tree, I scanned the area for more fungus as Erik and Josh went off into the distance to get more wood. I saw a couple more and went over to pick them, Michael and Jamie following behind closely. Taking a look at my total so far, I counted 5.
Looking at the trees, there were shroomlights scattered across some of them.
"Welp, that surely ain't glowstone." Jamie pointed out to it.
"Those are shroomlights." Michael explained. "They are useful for electrical systems, cause unlike glowstone, redstone signals can pass through it."
"Huh, I didn't know that." I said. "I thought it was just put in the game to make glowstone look like shit."
"I'm sure Erik will stock up on it too then." Jamie said. "If it's good with redstone, then I can picture him building up a stash."
"You see any fungus Jamie?" I asked, Jamie taking a look around.
"To your left." she said. We got lucky. There were five more all in one spot.
"Well, that was quicker than I had expected." I said, approaching the fungus to pick it up. "And we didn't even encounter a single mo–"
I heard the sound of an enraged enderman in the distance, followed by Josh's high pitched screams.
"Shit…" I blurted, running towards the screams, with Jamie and Michael following behind. I switched my axe out for my diamond sword. In the distance, I could see both Erik and Josh i corridor, with an enraged enderman running towards them.
I could see that Erik had his sword out and was attacking the enderman, while Josh was in the corner cowering in fear.
I approached the enderman and dug my sword into its back, managing to hit it before it teleported away. Rushing into the tunnel accompanying Erik and Josh, I looked at Jamie.
"Stay back…" I said. "We'll take care of the enderman."
As it quickly teleported back, me and Erik took turns swinging as the enderman desperately tried to reach us with its arms, thankfully, we were able to kill it quickly.
"We have all the fungus, so let's head back." Michael suggested.
"How much wood did you get?" I asked Erik.
"Uh, I believe I was able to get like 24, and some of the shroomlights before that enderman started attacking us." Erik replied. Josh had just calmed down enough to get up.
"I-is it gone?"
"Mhm." I replied. "We destroyed that enderman more than I destroyed my credit score."
"Aight, your friends are aight, let's get you back to our base so you can get your shit and get out." Michael said. "There's a portal at our base, so you can go straight from Max's quarters to–"
"We have our own." I said. "Besides, a block in the nether is like 8 or 9 in the overworld, and we've traveled across 2 whole biomes. I don't want to emerge in the middle of nowhere and not know how to get back home."
"Fair enough." Michael said, starting to trace his steps back. We followed closely, as Jamie got a bit closer to me. Grabbing onto my arm, our armor pieces clacked as she pulled herself closer to me unexpectedly.
"Something wrong?"
"Nope." Jamie replied.
I could sense Erik and Josh's grins from behind, but at this point, I didn't really care anymore.
As we kept making our way back, I looked around at the trees. I couldn't help but admire how weird yet scenic this biome was.
"This biome sure is an eye catcher." I commented.
"Yeah, no kidding." Josh replied.
Making our way out of the warped forest and back into the soul sand valley, we began to head towards the basalt delta in the distance.
"Man, this place feels like a damn sauna…" I said. "How the hell do you guys live here?"
"You get used to it after some time." Michael answered. "Or by drinking a LOT of fire resistance potions."
"Oh, I'll bet you brew like a thousand bottles a week, don't ya…" Jamie said.
"Actually, we brew more than that." Michael replied. "2,300 a week."
"Damn…" I replied. "How many of you guys live here?"
"Quite a few." Michael replied. "It's gotten to the point where our mob farm won't be good enough to supply the magma cream needed for the potions for everyone, so some of us are starting to just learn to get used to the heat."
Just at the edge of the soul sand biome, I saw a giant glass tube leading over a lava lake to the basalt delta.
"Uh, why didn't you build your bridge out of a more durable material?" I asked.
"It prevents ghasts from attacking." Josh answered.
"Bingo." Michael replied. "Wow, your friend is a fucking nerd."
"This stuff is common knowledge, what do you mean?" Josh added.
"This guy probably has all the item ID numbers for every weapon in the game." I joked.
"I do, actually." Josh replied. We all shared a laugh as we started to walk across the bridge. Noticing 2 ghasts in the distance, sure enough, the glass was doing its job, as they weren't firing anything at us as we kept on going. Looking at the lava lake down below, I could see some striders walking across the lake, some with players mounted on them.
"Once we cross the bridge, just go straight and Max will probably be there waiting for you." Michael said, making his way to the rear. "I have to go run some errands."
"Uh, okay then. See ya." I replied, as we exited the tunnel and walked back into the soul sand valley, pulling his sword out. As we reached the other side of the glass bridge, Max was at the side. Jamie let go of my arm as I approached him.
"Yo, we got your stuff." I said, taking out the warped fungus. Handing it over, Max started counting it.
"Five… six… seven… alright, it's all here." Max said, stuffing the fungus into his inventory and pulling out the items he promised us. "Here's your stuff."
"Thank you." I replied, taking the items. Looking at them to make sure they matched what he first offered, there were 20 pieces of netherite, 32 magma cream, and 2 whole stacks of blaze rods, as well as some diamonds.
"Wait, you didn't say you were gonna give us di–"
"Keep it." Max said. "My treat."
"Well, thank you so much." I said, shaking Max's blocky hand and looking back to the others. "Now, let's get out of here and get ready."
As we turned around and started walking down the bridge on our way back, I turned to the others.
"What's our strategy?"
"Huh?" Erik asked.
"Our combat strategy, duh. What should we use?"
"Same as before." I said.
"Which was…?"
"Winging it."
Jamie scoffed. "We can't just "wing it" every single time and expect positive results. We should come up with an actual plan this time."
"Uh, okay, what ideas do you guys have?" I asked.
"Well, for one, it's best that we don't let them get inside the actual town, so preferably, we'll want to stack some players outside to stop that from happening." Jamie replied.
"We'll have to either pick out the best, or absolutely swamp the gate with players if you don't want them coming in."
"How are we going to know when these people are going to attack anyways?" Josh asked.
"That's the thing." I replied. "We won't."
"How will we even know if we're their next target?" Erik asked, as I took a glance at one of the ghasts hovering a bit over the lava lake below the glass bridge.
"The pumpkin people are most likely pissed off at me for killing one of their guys, so of course they're going to want to hit the village nearest to the one where I was last." I replied. "It would only make sense."
"You have a point." Jamie replied. "I guess we all have to act like fugitives from this point forward, now that we've stuck our noses where they didn't belong."
"Well, I wouldn't say that, more like a "we made it personal" kinda thing." I said. "The deeper we go, the more "personal" it's gonna get."
"Are you sure you want to keep going?" Josh asked. "Remember, they had command blocks n shit, what if they find out how to slash kill you or something?"
"If they could do that, they would've done it already." I replied. "And they probably would've Thanos snapped all of you guys too."
"Perhaps the command blocks they have only run under certain parameters?" Josh suggested.
Reaching the end of the bridge, we trekked across the soul sand valley. There was no sign of Michael anywhere.
"I wonder where that minion dude went…" Erik said. "He ditched us like my dad ditched me…"
I couldn't hold in my laughter.
"For real though, he kinda just dipped." Josh replied.
"Eh, it doesn't matter." I added. "What matters now is how we're going to prepare the other players in that village, and we'll start with the supplies we just got. We'll mainly use the netherite for weapons, but if we have some left over, which we probably won't, we can make chest plates."
"We don't necessarily need full netherite armor anyways." Jamie said. "You only need stuff like that for fighting the wither, or ender dragon."
"Yeah, I suppose. Let's just use it all on weapons then." taking a look into my inventory, I noticed that the stack of diamonds Max gifted me was a lot more than I was expecting.
"Holy shit, that guy gave me 28 diamonds…" I said, pulling them out. "That's enough to make like… 14 swords!"
"Wow, that guys pretty generous." Josh commented.
"I guess we got our discount after all." Erik added.
I chuckled. "Yeah, I guess we did."
Approaching the nether portal at the end of the soul sand valley, it was thankfully still lit.
"Alright, I'll head in last, you two go first." I said, pointing to Erik and Josh. in the distance, I saw a ghast. "We need to hurry."
As Josh stepped into the portal and slowly disappeared, the ghast eyed us and let out an ear ringing scream, prompting Erik to rush into the portal as well. As the ghast shot a fireball at me and Jamie, I quickly brought out my diamond sword and whacked the fireball back, and it collided with a nearby biome. Jamie grabbed my hand and dragged me into the portal behind her, just as the ghast was about to fire another shot at me. My head began to spin as reality began to warp, but I felt reassurance in Jamie's firm grip. Soon enough, we were emerging back into the overworld, just as the sun was about to start to set.
"I gotcha." Jamie said, letting go of my hand.
"I got you first." I replied.
Taking a look at my diamond sword, there were some subtle cracks formed across it.
"Well, it looks like our sword's kinda getting a little worn out." I said, handing it to Jamie to look for herself.
"What are you guys waiting for? Let's head back!" Erik said in the distance.
Walking through the forest, I could already see the village coming into view. Soon enough, we arrived at the doors, and they were quickly opened for us as we walked through, the gatekeeper waving at us.
"Let's drop this shit off at the house, then I'm going to go have a chat with Charlie and let him in on our plan."
"Who?" Josh asked.
"The village headmaster." I replied. "I had a chat with him before we left."
Nearing Walter's house, he opened the door for us.
"You're back earlier than I expected." He said, greeting us as we came into his house. Immediately, Miles rushed down the stairs, barking with joy as he approached me and jumped up to my chest, almost causing me to lose my balance and fall.
"Yeah, some people there hooked us up with some supplies." I replied. "Damn Miles, you missed me huh!"
"Oh yeah, your dog here was REALLY down while you were gone, he didn't leave your room." Walter explained. "Also, that worked out well, didn't it?"
"Sure did. I thought we'd be stuck in the nether for hours only to find like 4 ingots worth of ancient debris…"
"I'm going to go drop the stuff we got upstairs real quick, then I'm going to head to Charlie's place to let him in on our plans for the invasion." I explained. "I'm thinking we need a small army of players sitting outside the gates to make sure they can't get in without a fight."
"Ah, gotcha. I'm assuming that's what you want the people from Contavern to do?" Walter guessed.
"Bingo." I replied. "If they're up to it, of course."
"You literally saved all of their lives. How could they not be up to it…" Erik commented. "Now get your ass upstairs and get that stuff in your chest so you can talk to the bossman…"
Walking up the stairs, Jamie and Miles followed behind me, Jamie still had the cracked diamond sword still in her hand. Entering our bedroom, I dumped the materials we had collected into the chest, as Miles jumped on Jamie as well. Petting him, Jamie couldn't help but smile as Miles wagged his tail rapidly.
"Aww, he missed you too…"
"Yeah, I guess so." Jamie replied. Looking out the window, the sun had already set past the horizon.
"Good thing we got back when we did, any longer and we'd be fighting mobs now."
"You beat this sword up hard…" Jamie said, approaching me with the diamond blade. Turning it to me, the edge of the blade was where the majority of the cracks and scuffs were.
I reached back into the chest and pulled out a netherite ingot. "Why don't we upgrade it then?"
"U-um…"
"Something wrong?" I asked.
"If you upgrade the sword, you'll lose all of the enchantments." Jamie explained. "Are you sure you want to do that?"
"Well, it's better than losing the entire damn sword." I said. "Plus, I think that mechanic got changed a while ago."
Taking the sword and approaching the crafting table in the corner of the room. Placing some wood planks and iron ingots at the top, they merged together to form a smithing table, which I placed next to the crafting table. Placing the diamond sword on the side of it, I got out the ingot and began to lay it down.
"W-wait…"
"Huh?"
"C-can we… Do it together?"
I placed the ingot in her hand, holding onto it. "Sure."
As we both lowered the ingot onto the other side of the smithing table, the ingot started to fuse with the diamond blade, starting by filling in the cracks that had accumulated on the corner. As we held the ingot in place, more of its contents became one with the sword, its shimmering velvet glow spreading across the entire sword. Sure enough, the glistening effect of the enchantments had stuck, as the last of the ingot merged with the diamond. Picking the sword up, I inspected the top of the blade, as well as its durability points, which had risen subtly.
"Well, good as new!" I said.
"Better than new." Jamie replied.
"And you get to use it first." I said, passing it to her, smiling.
Jamie chuckled. "I'll try not to damage it as much as you."
"Oh come on, I'm not that hard on my weapons." I said.
"I beg to differ." Jamie replied.
"Eh whatever. I'm going to go talk to Charlie now." I said, wrapping my arms around her. "Love ya."
"Love you too." Jamie replied, returning the hug. "Don't be too late, I want to cuddle you to sleep again."
"Don't worry, I won't." I reassured, letting go of her.
"I'll start crafting some diamond swords with the free diamonds and upgrade em to netherite while I'm waiting." Jamie offered.
"You don't have to. You can just rest." I replied.
"I have to do something to keep me awake." Jamie answered. "Like I said, I wanna cu–"
Placing my hand on her cheek, I drew her in for a quick kiss.
"Heard ya the first time."
Jamie's face warmed up a bit, she couldn't help but to smile.
Making my way to the door, I left the bedroom and made my way outside and to Charlie's place. Giving a knock on the door, he answered it almost immediately.
"I hope this isn't a bad time." I said.
"No, not at all, please, come in." Charlie replied, holding the door open for me. As I entered, I sat down on the nearby chair.
"We just returned from the nether with enough diamonds and netherite to make 14 netherite swords." I started. "We also have some stuff to make potions."
"Awesome!" Charlie replied.
"I also have somewhat of a plan for what to do." I added. "We need people guarding the door to make sure getting inside isn't possible for them. We can't even let them get close, or else they can just build a TNT cannon and destroy the wall."
"You have a good point there." Charlie replied. "What comes after that?"
"We overwhelm them." I answered. "They were able to take on us in Contavern because of how few people were in that village, but this place has like what… 50 players in it?"
"Around that, yes." Charlie replied.
"Exactly. Now, let's assume we're fighting with 50% of that, that still gives us 25 players, plus the Contavern people, if I can get them to join in. we'll overload their defenses easily and they'll be running off in no time."
"Smart thinking." Charlie replied. "Well, tomorrow morning, I'll make a village-wide announcement and have everyone train up in the stadium and prepare. Do you need anything like supplies or stuff like that?"
"Well, we didn't stock up on any food while we were in the nether, so a couple stacks of steak would be nice." I replied. "Other than that, I think we're good."
"We have golden apples we can hand to people, but they are in limited supply, so we can only give each of you guys two." Charlie offered.
"Hmm, sounds good. Let's have some of those too." I replied.
"Alright, sounds like a plan! We should be ready for em by lunchtime tomorrow, whenever they come here, they'll be met with a giant calvary they don't stand a chance against!" Charlie said, holding his hand up high and clenching it into a fist. "The resistance goes on!"
I did the same with my hand. "Yeah!"
"Aight man, get a good night's sleep, see ya tomorrow."
"You too, Charlie."
On my way back to the house, I took a second to look at the full moon in all its glory.
"Wow." I said, admiring the glorious pixels that made up the relatively unrealistic floating square.
Opening the door to Walter's house, everyone was already sleeping and the lights were out, so I quietly made my way back up the steps. Opening the door to the bedroom, I noticed that Jamie was sitting at the crafting table, with her head down. I could hear her snoring all the way from the other side of the room. Heading to the bed and undoing the covers, I took my inventory and stuck it into one of the chests. Approaching Jamie, she was out like a light. Looking at the slots of the crafting table, there were a few diamonds and sticks.
"Oh Jamie, you didn't have to… I told you to take a rest…" I whispered. I got no response.
"Welp…"
Picking her up, I slowly carried Jamie over to my bed and laid her down softly on the side, pulling the covers over her.
"I'll come to bed soon honey, I'm just gonna finish what you started."
Returning to the crafting table, I placed the diamonds and sticks into the slots and finished making the last of the diamond swords for the night. Returning to the chest, I stuck them inside, and laid down next to Jamie.
"Good night." I whispered to her, kissing her forehead.
