It's been months since the Fall of Beacon, and Roman Torchwick couldn't be happier. After all, the people at Beacon Academy, especially those meddling kids, got screwed over by Cinder's plan. Speaking of Cinder, Roman is relieved that neither her or the rest of her group have gone after him and Neo since their defection. Not even once. It made him realize that he didn't have any value in their eyes. Roman's response to this? They can just go fuck themselves.
Now, where is Torchwick one may ask? Right now, the crime lord is sipping wine at the office of his new casino. Ever since he looted Vale during the Fall of Beacon, Roman decided to invest his money on restarting his criminal career. And what better way to do so was opening up a casino? As a gambling man, Roman felt this was the right choice. He would earn money from people gambling theirs away while also using the casino as a front for his criminal activities.
The large city of Aidoneus is the city Roman is operating at. It's also one of the few hearts of Remnant's entire criminal underworld. Any crime lord or kingpin who rules over one of these hearts is given titles such as "King/Queen", "Emperor/Empress", "Shogun", "Lord/Lady", "Baron/Baroness", "Sultan", etc. For a long while, Aidoneus didn't have a criminal ruler in its underworld. Gang wars consumed it as many criminals wanted to rule the city's underworld. The rulers of the other hearts didn't interfere as they felt it wasn't their business. After all, if you wanted to rule over one of the hearts of Remnant's criminal underworld, you'll have to do so on your own.
However, the gang war was resolved the moment Roman moved into Aidoneus. After purchasing the large building that he converted to his casino, Clockwork Romeo, Roman wasted no time eliminating his competition and gain control over the city's underworld. The title of "King" excited Torchwick, and he couldn't have achieved the title without the help of his lovely partner and girlfriend Neopolitan.
And speaking of Neo, you have heard it right. Neo is Roman's girlfriend. The crime lord was surprised when the ice cream-themed girl first pressed her lips against his after she opened the door to his prison cell. While Roman has always viewed himself as a man with a lot of charisma and charm, he never thought Neo of all people would have feelings for him. To be perfectly honest, the crime lord personally thought that the ice cream-themed criminal was way out of his league. However, Roman was told he was the only person Neo wanted the moment she locked his lips with hers.
Of course with Roman being the criminal king of Aidoneus, one would assume Neo would automatically become the city's criminal queen. However, the rulers of Remnant's other criminal hearts have stated that they would only acknowledge Neo as Aidoneus' criminal queen is when she and Roman officially get married, though Neo wouldn't need a reason to be wearing a wedding dress in the first place. Neo wanting to be his girlfriend was already a big surprise for Roman, so the thought of them getting married haven't occurred to him yet. However, he wouldn't say no to the idea either.
Torchwick steps out of his office, taking a look at the ongoing events occurring in his casino. People were gambling away their money, whether at the slot machines, poker games, the roulettes, baccarats, or at the craps. Across the gambling attractions is the bar that Roman had installed. Torchwick knew it wouldn't be fair for his customers to gamble on an empty stomach. Working at the bar is none other than Hei "Junior" Xiong.
Due to the City of Vale being infested with Grimm thanks to the Fall of Beacon, Junior couldn't resume business at his club. Therefore, Roman offered to hire him at his casino which the former club owner accepted. Despite having incompetent henchmen, Junior is someone Roman would want to have on his payroll. He worked as a bartender, is a fellow businessman, and is a talented informant. Maybe not as talented as Izaya, but nevertheless still talented. Roman also hired the Malachite Twins as part of his casino's security force. Junior mentioned the twins having a relative in the City of Mistral, but they chose to stay with the former club owner which resulted in their hiring.
However, Junior and the Malachite Twins weren't the only people Roman hired ever since he started his criminal activities in Aidoneus. Standing guard and observing the casino from a corner on the base floor is a man wearing a green helmet, green armor and a missile jetpack. The weapons this man is holding is a high-tech rifle in his arms and a sword handle hanging from his left hip. This is Boba Fett, one of, if not, the best bounty hunters in the world of Remnant and one of the 3 Revived Roman hired.
Boba is a mystery to Roman. In fact, all 3 of the Revived Roman hired are a mystery to him. A man of few words, Boba is always ready to right as seen by the rifle he carries around. Roman swore he never once saw the bounty hunter without it. Aside from the bounty hunter's other gadgets such as wrist-mounted flamethrowers, a whipcord, and the missile, the only other weapon of Boba's that Roman found interesting was the sword handle. When used in battle, a blue blade is ignited from the handle. What makes it more interesting is that the blade isn't even made of metal, but instead acts like those laser swords one would see in Sci-Fi movies.
Another thing about Boba that Roman can't decipher is his semblance. At first, Roman thought the bounty hunter's semblance was simply telekinesis. He saw Boba pull and push away people and objects. However, that was until he saw the bounty hunter perform other abilities with his semblance such as choking people without touching them and mind control, though the latter doesn't seems to work on everyone. The only hint Roman ever got about it was Boba referring to it as some kind of "force". Whatever that means.
Walking past Roman is the second out the hired Revived. A man wearing large white armor with a gold dome for a helmet. No one knows his true identity. Not even Roman. This Revived is only known by two codenames. Maine and Meta. While Boba does speak words after a job has been assigned or if he needs to say something that needs to be spoken, Roman isn't sure if Maine himself can even talk. All Torchwick ever hears from Maine are only growls, grunts, and snarls. The only information Torchwick knows about Revived is that he was a former member of the Atlas military before becoming a mercenary for hire.
The suit Maine wears contains an assortment of gear that makes him a deadly adversary for others. Such gear includes a cloaking device designed to make him invisible, an energy shield projector, and strength enhancement. There's also his main weapon known as the Brute Shot, which Roman can only describe it as being a hybrid between a grenade launcher and an overgrown knife. However, what makes Maine truly deadly is his semblance: the ability to stop time.
At this point, Roman has to wonder how many people out there in Remnant have the ability to stop time. First Dio can stop time, then those brats from Beacon, and now Maine. Why does everyone gets to mess with time? Time shouldn't be messed with at all. Torchwick wonders if he can stop time as well. He hasn't unlocked his semblance yet, though that was due to lack of effort.
Finally, the last Revived Roman hired is at the bar having a drink. The Revived is a young woman who, unlike Boba and Maine, isn't wearing any armor or special suit. Instead, she's wearing a purple side-tie dress with white floral decorations, white boots with black knee pads and matching gloves. She also has long red hair tied into two ponytails and creamy white skin. Finally, she's wearing a white half-kitsune mask that's covering the top half of her face.
Her name is Kunimitsu, a treasure hunter and a petty thief. The only information Roman knows about her is that she has trained in the ninja arts and participated in the Mistral Regional Tournament during her teenage years. However, every person she had fought in the tournament would always report missing a valuable item. It doesn't take much effort to figure out Kunimitsu was the one who had stolen those items. And unlike Emerald who needed her semblance to help her steal, Kunimitsu's thefts were based on skill alone. Other than that, there's nothing else Roman knows about her. She hardly speaks at all and has a cold personality.
Out of the 3 Revived, Kunimitsu possesses the least amount of weapons on her. In fact, she only carries around dual kunai and a sword she calls Yoshimitsu, which apparently is strong enough to cut through stone. Aside from being a skilled thief, Roman also hired her due to her deadly use of ninjutsu in combat. Roman believes that it's a good idea to have a ninja on his payroll. Oddly enough, her semblance is the ability to breathe fire. Of course, that wasn't the weirdest semblance Roman has ever seen. That title belongs to stopping time.
Despite the 3 Revived being on his payroll, Roman allows them to do whatever they want as long as they report back to him when needed. Instead of using threats like Cinder did to him, Torchwick would pay the 3 Revived top Lien to keep them loyal. And whenever there was an assignment that required all three of them, Neo would be the one who leads them. Roman's new criminal career in Aidoneus is practically perfect. Almost.
Celty, Neo's Dullahan sister, has been a big thorn in Torchwick's side ever since he moved to the city. She openly told, or rather texted, to Roman that she wouldn't participated in his criminal activities and tried to drag Neo with her into leaving, but the ice cream themed mute refused to go with her as she preferred to stay with her boyfriend. And thus, a series of never ending arguments started between Roman and Celty.
The Dullahan would claim that Torchwick corrupted her sister, believing Neo wouldn't be living a life of crime if she hadn't met Roman. Torchwick, on the other hand, would argue back that Neo deserved freedom, believing that she should be allowed to do whatever she wants while also claiming that Neo's happy with the life she's living. To everyone else, it's awkward seeing one person yelling at another person who can only respond through text.
Despite always being furious at Celty for disapproving his activities and his relationship with her sister, Roman couldn't just straight up kill the Dullahan. He knew that doing so would hurt Neo and ruin their relationship. On the bright side, Torchwick knew that Celty wouldn't tell anything to the authorities since that'll lead to her sister getting caught and put in prison. And while Neo did convince Roman to give Celty a room in the casino, he hardly sees the Dullahan due to her job with Izaya.
Walking down the stairs while observing more of his casino, Roman casually walked over to a booth at the bar. Taking a seat, he ordered a drink from Junior. While Roman waited, Neo happily skipped towards him and hopped onto his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck. Torchwick received his drink from the former club owner and raised the glass into the air.
"It's great to be the king!" Roman proudly exclaimed before downing his drink.
A/N: A HUGE thanks to my dear friend, Israel Pena, for making this incredible chapter. It was truly both amazing and hilarious. I loved all the clever ideas, cameos and new Revived and the banter, or at least, past banter, between Roman and Celty. He is truly an amazing friend and incredible writer. Thank you so much, my friend!
