Hope you like and love it. I would really appreciate it if you leave a review telling me what do you think about the story so far. Kiss and love.
Kaysa left the queen's room convinced that Loki would come out behind her and give her a logical explanation for his attitude. She waited for him for a while but the only person who came out of there was Kaira.
"What has happened in there?" Kaira asked her sister in a whisper.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Kaysa pretended to be serious as she walked past her sister. "What took you so long?" She had to pretend she had been waiting for her and not Loki.
"I had to get out of my dress," Kaira replied. Kaysa nodded and directed one last look at the door to the room, which still did not open.
Loki sat in a chair covering his face between his hands and sighed heavily. Frigga looked at him with a sad look. Though his son would never recognize him, he knew he felt a betrayal, and he sensed that the betrayal was of Kaysa.
"What the hell is she doing here?" Loki asked after a moment of trying to calm himself.
"Your father had to invite her," Frigga replied. "We must maintain diplomatic relations with other realms, son." Loki looked at her sharply.
"Diplomatic relations?" Loki did not bother to hide the irony in his voice. He knew that Ada's visit was not a simple diplomatic thing.
Kaysa spent all afternoon with Kaira in her room. The sisters had caught up on their new lives. Kaysa told her about her days in prison and, very delicately, told her all about her conviction.
"So it was your execution they wanted me to see?" Kaira asked with a lump in her throat. She couldn't believe Viggo wanted to put her through that.
"But a man bought me just the night before," Kaysa replied without giving the matter further thought as she lay on her sister's lap and her sister pulled her hair into several braids. "I was with him for a while until the queen found me and brought me here, but I had to hide so the king wouldn't find me and kill me," Kaysa told it as a normal thing. She was not afraid of Odin. She knew that if that happened, Loki and the queen would help her.
"And that's all?" Kaira asked annoyed. "Be a servant for the rest of eternity?" Kaysa had not seen it from that point of view. She had always thought she would return to her realm one day. She was thinking about how to change the subject when someone called to Kaira's room.
"Lady Kaira?" It was the voice of Thor. The two sisters glanced at each other and Kaysa quickly transformed into her image as a maiden. She walked to the door and nodded as a sign.
"Come in," Kaira replied by standing and waiting for Thor to enter. He came with a strange girl with white hair and dark skin. Kaysa looked at her from a distance with curiosity. Her graceful movements made Kaysa think she was a nobleman, and Thor's words confirmed it.
"She is Lady Ada. She will be with us for some time and I thought you might like to meet her." Thor adopted a diplomatic pose but barely looked at Kaira.
"A pleasure," Ada replied by bowing her head. Kaira imitated her and began to converse politely with her. Kaysa knew the conversation would go on for a long time and left the room, walking towards her room.
Kaysa only needed to set foot in her room to know that Loki was there. The moment she closed the door she felt her hands encircling her waist from behind and her lips searching for her neck and ear.
"You're late, honey," Loki whispered in her ear as he bit into her earlobe. Kaysa sensed the urgency in his voice, but he owed her an explanation first.
"What has happened earlier?" She asked without turning away from him but undoing the spell that had hidden her.
"What has happened when?" Loki's hands began to pull up the skirt of her golden dress as he dug his fingers into her thighs.
"You know when you came screaming in your mother's room." Loki stopped, breathing heavily against Kaysa. "Tell me about it."
"Kaysa, not right now," Loki said, but Kaysa kept insisting. "I told you no!" Loki shouted angrily away from her and turned his back on her. "Why the interest?"
"Because I care about you!" Kaysa shouted back as well.
"That you care about me? You care about me?" Loki did turn in anger and with a mocking tone. "Save the corny stuff for someone else, Kaysa." The two of them were silent for a long time, looking at each other coldly. "I just need to distract myself for a moment." Loki sighed, lowering his gaze. Kaysa felt a lump grow in her throat. In that instant, she understood her role in that story.
"Please," Kaysa said, trying to keep her composure and walking to the door, holding the doorknob and signalling Loki to leave the room.
"Oh, come on, Kaysa." Loki laughed as he walked towards her and tried to bring her closer to him, but Kaysa took a step back. "Kaysa."
"In a few days." Kaysa took a breath and closed the door. "In a few days, everything will be all right. I will serve you again, smile and accept my role as your distraction." She was making a great effort not to break down in tears in front of Loki. "I promise you." She nodded and closed her eyes. "But until then, leave me alone."
"Kaysa, don't say that." Loki's tone was neutral.
"Go away!" Kaysa shouted as she opened the door again and pushed Loki out of the room. She felt hurt and humiliated. She had not expected her relationship with Loki to be serious, but neither had she expected everything to be a distraction and entertainment for him.
Kaysa was frightened to hear Loki knock on her door as he tried to force it open while shouting her name. Kaysa leaned against it, covering her ears with her hands and shouting to silence Loki's screams. A moment later silence fell. Kaysa slowly opened her eyes and found herself at Loki's feet. "How?" she asked, but Loki quickly interrupted her as he squatted and, without touching her, whispered in her ear.
"Don't even think about playing that game with me again. Don't even think about threatening me again." Loki's cold look stung deep into Kaysa's amber eyes. "Because next time, I might not be interested in you at all." He whispered after a long silence. Kaysa reacted almost instinctively and threw herself at him, falling flat on her face.
"An illusion," Kaysa whispered on her knees, hands on the ground. "A fucking illusion!" Kaysa cried out, frustrated, not knowing if she was referring to Loki's image or to their relationship.
Kaira was talking to Ada and Thor most of the afternoon. A conversation that was quite boring for her. Sometimes she could not help but cast shy glances at Thor, who was quick to avoid them.
"Excuse me, but I have other business to attend to," Ada said as she rose and nodded. Thor soon got up, too, and escorted her out. Kaira walked them to the door as she thanked them for the pleasant conversation. "I hope it won't be the last." Ada smiled. Kaira nodded and closed the door once they were all out of there. She leaned against it as she sighed and closed her eyes. A small headache was beginning to grow in her head. It had been an emotional day, and her nerves could not take it anymore. At that moment, the idea of a hot bath appealed to her quite a bit.
Kaira started to prepare everything. She filled the bathtub with water that she heated in the small fireplace in the room. The steam rose slightly and caressed her face. She took the opportunity to add a few drops of essential oil. She took two small bottles, one of jasmine and the other of gardenias. She thought about which one to choose and after a few moments, took the small jar of gardenias, as the smell of jasmine reminded her too much of Kaysa. Surely she knew how to make the best use of it. Kaira started to drop a couple of drops of gardenias when a knock on her door distracted her. Carefully, she set the scent jar aside and walked to the door wondering if it was Kaysa who had come to visit her. Opening the door she found a cold, empty hallway. She glanced around strangely as she wondered if she had made it up. She turned to focus on her bath and the knock was heard again. She startled herself and threw the whole bottle of essences into the bathroom. She ran in a hurry and saw nothing again. She had not made it up. She was sure. One of the advantages of being an elf was that her sense of hearing was highly developed. Kaira heard footsteps moving down the hall and a murmur. She closed the door again, but this time she did not walk away from it but waited on the other side. She heard the footsteps approaching. Kaira held the doorknob, impatient to find out who her strange visitor was, but forced herself to resist and be patient. It was still not close enough. Just a few more steps. It was time! Kaira opened the door quickly and found Thor's gaze confused.
Kaysa was lying on the bed in her room as she tried to calm down. Hours and hours had passed and she could not stop crying every time she remembered Loki. It was a cry of rage. Rage at herself for believing that Loki had some sort of feelings for her. A few knocks on her door drove her out of her thoughts. On the other side was the voice of her superior as she commanded her to open the door.
"Where have you been all day, child?" The superior scolded her once Kaysa opened the door, as she shook her arm and led her into the kitchen. "Start doing your job." She said, throwing Kaysa against the kitchen table where there were several half-prepared dishes. She looked over her shoulder at the superior before preparing them in low spirits.
"Are you all right?" Biscuit appeared beside Kaysa and began to help her.
"Not really. I may be tired, but I've been too tired lately." Kaysa lied.
"Don't worry about serving today, my child." Kaysa looked up quickly and found a funny expression on Biscuit's face. No one but one person called her that.
"My queen?" Kaysa asked with a pale face.
"Not so loud, my dear." Frigga laughed at Kaysa's surprised face. "Did you think your absence would go unnoticed?" Kaysa looked at her with the same expression she used to get when she was a child and someone caught her in some mischief. "Are you going to tell me the truth about what's wrong with you now?"
"I'm just more tired than usual." Kaysa lied again.
"Oh come on. Who do you think taught Loki to lie so well?" Frigga could see a fleeting expression of pain on Kaysa's face. "Has something happened to him?" Frigga had to be careful about talking to Kaysa about that. Neither she nor Loki knew that Frigga knew of their 'secret' meetings, and for the moment, she preferred that they remain unaware.
"Oh, not at all my queen. He doesn't even know I'm here." Kaysa felt increasing pressure on her chest. "I need to leave. I really do. I'm not feeling very well." Frigga looked at her before nodding to her and telling her to go rest.
On the way to her room, only one thing was on Kaysa's mind. Queen Frigga was very easy to change her appearance to hide her identity. Loki had done so from time to time as well. Kaysa had only tried to change into her false appearance as a servant, but would she be able to transform into someone else entirely? Would she be able to transform into Biscuit?
As she walked along in her thoughts she came across the white-haired girl who had arrived in Kaira's room. The girl called her politely.
"Excuse me, I'd like to have dinner in my room. Who should I tell?" asked Ada. Kaysa looked at her for a few moments. She was very curious about her and eventually agreed to help her.
Kaira sat across from Thor as she waited for an answer from him. They had been at it for ten minutes and Thor still seemed to have not resolved his internal struggle.
"If you're not going to tell me anything, I'd appreciate it if you'd leave." Said Kaira as she stood up and headed for the door.
"Kaira, please. It's been weeks." Thor grabbed her wrist to stop her. "I need to fix this. Please." Kaira was surprised to hear Thor beg. Her eyes fell on him and, for a brief moment, she decided to lower her defences by talking to him.
"Thor." She said as she caressed his cheek. "Don't you realize we can't be right? It's the only way we can handle this."
"But I don't want to be like this," Thor confessed as he felt Kaira's hand. "I can't be like this."
"Would you rather we go back to the way things were? To suffer while we tried to find a solution in vain to make things right?" Kaira did not want to be hard with Thor, but she had to make him see what was best for both of them.
Thor and Kaira looked at each other in silence for a long time until a sweet melody began to come through Kaira's window. The elf stared absent-mindedly without knowing its origin.
"They're rehearsing for the ball," Thor said without looking at her. "Your ball." He muttered and then he did look at her. Slowly he took her hand and began to move around the room as Kaira followed him.
"What are you doing?" Kaira asked curiously.
"It will be difficult to dance with you in the ball that is given in your honour and in that of your future husband," Thor said as he began to move to the music. "Why not take advantage today?" Kaira had a sad look, but she did not refuse the proposal and let herself be led by Thor, whose hand was quickly placed on her waist. Kaira's free hand was placed on his shoulder. The elf closed her eyes and let her mind wander to the sweet chords that came from her balcony.
Thor could not take his eyes off her. Her graceful turns hypnotized him and made him lose his sense of time. As they moved around the room, Thor could not help but think of what it would be like if he could dance with her in front of everyone on the day of the ball. A small smile grew on his lips as he imagined how all eyes would be on them and, above all, on her. Thor opened his eyes again and saw the amber eyes of Kaira on him. The music faded slowly but Thor and Kaira had long since stopped dancing. Thor's gaze passed from her eyes to her half-opened lips. His thumb drew the perfect line as he bent down to caress them.
"No," Kaira whispered when she could react, pushing Thor back slightly, knocking him out of his reverie. Thor lost his balance easily. Kaira went to hold him down with such bad luck that she fell into her bath with him. Kaira let out a gasp of surprise as her room filled with rose-smelling water. Thor, on the other hand, could only laugh as he held Kaira tightly, thoroughly enjoying the situation.
Loki heard the last notes fall silent. He was lying on his bed looking at the ceiling as the argument he had had with Kaysa kept repeating itself over and over in his mind. He could not understand why Kaysa had been so upset by what he had said. After all, neither of them had talked about feelings. It was only out of the need for one another, nothing more. But at the same time, he could not stop feeling guilty.
As he finished listening to the notes, he thought of the image of Kaysa in a green dress dancing with her blonde hair in the wind to the music and joining him. Loki sighed. What he would give to make it happen.
