A/N: this update is just really long overdue. It's been so long that I had to actually read all the shit I have written myself to maintain the level of consistency. For those of you who didn't want to go back and read all the previous chapters, basically Bo and Tamsin are getting married soon, and Kenzi is fostering a kid, Myra, from a previous case that they worked on.

I figure the next chapter (or a couple of chapters) would be about their wedding, and of course it won't be a Valkubus wedding without some sort of shitstorm lol.

With my other fanfic in progress, I don't think I'll update this story too often. My goals is 1 chapter per month maybe.

Anyway, enjoy!

Chapter 53 - I Can't Wait

7:30 pm - Bo and Tamsin's Place

Sitting on the couch, Tamsin nervously glanced at Myra, who was digging through their walk-in pantry like a happy chipmunk.

When Myra threw herself into the pile of throw pillows on the couch with a bag of chips, Tamsin immediately stood up and moved away from her.

Scratching her forearm uncomfortably, Tamsin turned to Kenzi and Bo. "So, let me get this straight," she started as she pointed at Kenzi, "you-", then she jabbed her finger softly into Bo's shoulder, "and you are going to a party, where you two are gonna be surrounded by hot chicks, booze, gourmet food, all that kinda fun shit, while I have to sit here and babysit that little rodent for the entire night?!"

"It's not like we are there for a fun night, Tamsin," Kenzi explained. "We are working on a case, and our client asked us to be there tonight. Like...trust me, you are the last person I'd pick for this job." Seeing that Tamsin crossed her arms in front of her chest and raised her eyebrows, Kenzi added, "no offense."

"Why can't you send her to someone else? Like a real babysitter, you know, someone who would do this shit happily, for cash."

"I can't just invite some stranger into my house and babysit her, Tamsin," Kenzi said. "I mean, I have a regular babysitter, but she's out of town tonight for some family emergency. My backup babysitter was really, really sick. Whatever she has, it's highly contagious. And-"

"What about Dyson? I'm sure he's really good with kids. All large, fluffy dogs are."

"I would send her to his place in a heartbeat if she wasn't a Ubume, Tamsin. Have you forgotten that large canines scare the sh-the whatevs out of Ubumes? She still shudders in fear every time he gets close."

"Yeah and she hurls rocks at him too," Bo added.

"Well she can do that tonight all night long, and I'll personally send a basket of rocks to his place with her," Tamsin drawled, and got a playful punch on her arm.

"What about Trick? Wouldn't he be thrilled to babysit Myra?" Tamsin suggested.

"Important meeting with the Elders," Kenzi explained. "He's out of town this week."

"What about the others?" Tamsin asked.

"There are no others, Tamsin," Kenzi replied. "Remember when I said that you are the last person I'd choose for this job? Me coming to you means I've exhausted all my other choices."

"There has to be someone else," Tamsin argued.

"Oh yeah? Like who?"

"I don't know...like...Evony?" Tamsin blurted. Kenzi rolled her eyes while Bo chuckled softly.

"Yeah, sure, Evony, babysitting," Kenzi scoffed. She then put both of her hands on Tamsin's shoulder and squeezed. "Officer TamTam, I repeat, no one is available tonight. No one but you."

Tamsin let out a dying whine and threw her arms into the air in great frustration.

"Hey..." Bo said softly as she rubbed the Valkyrie's arm. "Relax, Tamsin. She's just a kid. She's not a fire breathing dragon."

"Oh, trust me, Bo. I would much rather deal with a fire breathing dragon, because I know damn well how to handle one."

"Chillax, bitch." Kenzi slapped Tamsin's shoulder. "It's not like you have to bottle feed or change diapers. She's a big kid. She's not difficult. You have game consoles here. You have snacks. Hell you have a VR headset, too. She loves that shit. Actually, I want to borrow that headset later…anyway, all you need to do is to stay here with her for a few hours. You'll be fine."

Tamsin closed her eyes and let out a deep sigh. She took another glance at Myra, who was now watching a show that was not appropriate for her age at all while munching her chips noisily.

"Fine, fine, fine. I'll watch her tonight, but no bedtime stories, and no...tear wiping or anything like that. Are we clear?"

Kenzi sighed. "Just…make sure you have eyes on her the whole time, okay?"

Tamsin reluctantly nodded. Then she turned to Bo and whispered, "you are so gonna make it up to me later."

Bo chuckled and gave Tamsin a sweet kiss. Then, she grabbed her jacket and put on her boots.

"Alright, we're leaving. Have fun," Kenzi told Tamsin before she left with Bo.

"Yeah, right, fun, that's what I'm gonna be having tonight," Tamsin growled in a low voice as she closed the door.

She turned back and met Myra's curious eyes, and she groaned again.

8:15 pm - Bo and Tamsin's Place

Hmmm. This is actually not that hard. Tamsin thought as she looked at Myra.

Myra was playing a virtual reality game. She was too busy shooting at monster robots to pay attention to anything else around her, including Tamsin. Other than an occasional shout or two, she didn't bother Tamsin at all.

Tamsin shrugged, and went back to her research on a case that she was working on.

11:50 pm - Bo and Tamsin's Place

Yes, this is hell. This is fucking hell! Tamsin thought as she rolled to her side for the hundredth time.

She was in her bed. She was under the soft blanket. She had her head on her favorite pillow and Bo's scent was all over the sheets. Everything was perfect, except one thing.

Myra was sleeping under her bed. The little girl had refused to take any of the guest bedrooms and insisted on sleeping there.

Tamsin could hear the young girl moving, rolling and murmuring something under her bed. She could hear all kinds of subtle noises that the little girl was making. The noise itself didn't bother her. What bothered her was someone who was practically a stranger invading her personal space. It made her very anxious.

Just go to sleep. Tamsin told herself as she closed her eyes. And spank Bo's cute little succubutt till she begs for mercy when she comes home.

Before she could fall asleep, though, Myra knocked on the bottom of the mattress from under the bed.

"What now?" Tamsin growled. "If you need to pee, go to the bathroom. If you need more snacks, go to the kitchen."

Myra didn't answer her question, nor did she go anywhere else. After a brief silence, the young girl asked, "you and Bo are getting married next month, right?"

Tamsin rolled her eyes. "Yes, we are."

"I saw her wedding gown in Kenzi's closet," Myra told her. Tamsin couldn't see her at all but she somehow had no problem picturing that big grin on Myra's face like she had just shared an incredible secret with Tamsin.

"It's pretty," Myra added.

"I know," Tamsin said simply.

"How do you know? You haven't seen it," Myra protested.

Tamsin rolled her eyes again. "I don't care. She looks great in anything, everything and…nothing."

"Are you and Bo going to buy a house?" Myra asked.

"Probably," Tamsin muttered.

"What kind of house are you gonna buy?" Myra pursued.

"A big, nice one?"

"Will you have a pool in the back?"

"Maybe."

"Will you have fruit trees in the yard?"

"Gee, I don't know. Why is any of your concern? Just go to sleep, kid!"

There came a long pause. Just as Tamsin thought the girl had gone to sleep, Myra asked, "are you two gonna have kids?"

"Noooo!"

"Why?"

"Because they are f- because they are annoying and they won't go to sleep when it's bedtime!"

The young girl snorted under the bed and then she went quiet. However, Tamsin knew that Myra was not done with the conversation yet. She could smell her nervousness in the air.

"Do you have something that you want to tell me?" Tamsin asked, frowning. "You didn't break anything in the house, did you?"

"No," Myra replied immediately.

"Then what is it?"

Myra stayed quiet for a long time, before she asked, "you are a police officer, right? You catch bad guys."

"Technically I am a homicide detective, but whatever. Why do you want to know?"

"Why haven't you caught the Crying Baby Killer yet?"

"The what?"

"The Crying Baby Killer," Myra repeated.

Tamsin frowned hard. "By Crying Baby Killer, you mean…the story where a lonely woman at night hears a baby crying outside and then calls the police, only to be told that it is a ruse used by a serial killer to lure her outside, abduct her and then kill her?"

"Yes."

"Hate to break it to you, kiddo, but that's just an urban legend. It's not a real thing."

"It's not?"

"No, it's a made up story that has been circulating the internet for many years," Tamsin explained.

"Oh..." Myra murmured. After a long silence, she asked, "if…it's not real, how would someone have been killed by the Crying Baby Killer?"

"What are you talking about?"

Myra went quiet for a long time, before she hesitantly replied, "last week, I went to a sleepover at my friend's place. In the middle of the night, I heard a baby crying. Two days later, my friend told me that a family in their apartment building was murdered that night."

Tamsin propped herself on her elbow. "Okay, so, you stayed at your friend's place and you heard some baby crying at night. That same night some neighbors got murdered there. And your conclusion is that…it was the Crying Baby Killer who killed them?"

"Who else could it be?"

"Some evil bas-some evil killer that is not made up? What you heard was probably an actual crying baby somewhere in the building."

"No, the crying came from the floor below us, the same apartment where the murder happened."

"Look, playing detective is cute and all…but it was definitely not the Crying Baby Killer, okay?"

"How do you know it's not?"

"Because it's not real!"

"Fine, I'm done talking to you," Myra announced in a loud voice as she wrapped herself into her blanket noisily.

There was a hint of anger and a lot of disappointment in her voice, as if Tamsin not trusting her had hurt her.

The silence filled the room, and it suddenly made Tamsin feel guilty. She rolled her eyes at herself and said, "if you don't believe what I said, I'll prove it to you."

"Oh really, how?" Myra taunted loudly.

"I am a detective," Tamsin bit out. "I am going to solve this murder and find the real killer."

"Fine, but if it turns out to be the Crying Baby Killer, you are gonna apologize and…and give me ice cream," Myra demanded.

"Fine."

"With chocolate drizzle and a cherry on top."

"Okay, fine, ice cream with chocolate drizzle and a cherry on top. Now can we pleeeease stop talking and go to sleep?"

2:00 am - Bo and Tamsin's Place

Tamsin moaned softly when she was awakened briefly by Bo's kiss. She held the brunette and kissed her back.

"How was your night?" Bo asked in a low, soft voice as she tucked herself under the blanket.

"Oh it was definitely worse than a fire breathing dragon," Tamsin murmured with a sleepy voice. "And the little rodent has built a nest under our bed...it's sooooo fucking annoying…."

Bo chuckled quietly. "I know. Kenzi took her home."

"Oh..." Tamsin purred as she buried herself closer to Bo. "Good, now you can make up to me, like maybe take off your…."

She didn't finish her sentence before she drifted back into her sleep in Bo's arms. Bo chuckled and held her tighter.

7:45 am - Police Station

"You are early today," Dyson commented as he greeted Tamsin with a raised hand.

Tamsin shrugged as she invited herself to the box of donuts that Dyson had brought in. "I heard that there was a murder last week at an apartment building at the 3rd and Park Avenue?"

"Ummm…I don't know, let's see…" Dyson murmured as he did a quick search in the system. "Yeah…there was a case. Scott's working on it."

"Good, and I'm gonna be working on it as well," Tamsin announced. Then, she grabbed Dyson's mouse and clicked "print" on the case files.

"We don't usually just invite ourselves into a case like this, Tamsin."

"Why not?" Tamsin hummed as she quickly read through the files. "I mean, apparently…Scott is hitting one dead end after another. I'm just offering a helping hand."

"Since when do you offer that?"

"Since whenever I feel like it?" Tamsin smirked. She took the printouts, grabbed another donut and headed out.

8:15 am - Crime Scene

Just as Tamsin expected, Detective Gale Scott welcomed her to the case because he had exhausted every lead he had. He quickly briefed Tamsin on the case, before he left to work on other cases.

Tamsin walked through the crime scene - a 3 bedroom apartment where a family of four had been murdered. Two young children died in their bedrooms first. The mother was killed in the hallway, and the father was killed in the living room.

There were no signs of forced entry or any struggle. Each victim's throat was slashed open with a clean cut (presumably by a sharp claw or a blade), and exsanguinated. However, the majority of the blood that the victims had lost did not present at the crime scene.

Detective Scott had concluded that the killer had either stored the blood in containers and took with them for evil ritual or other wicked purposes, or that the killer was some type of Fae that would feed off human blood.

Tamsin came to the same conclusion, and she quickly went through all the blood sucking Faes that she was familiar with in her head, but none would fit into this particular scenario.

As she stood there staring at the blood spatter on the wall, something occurred to her. Myra, who slept in the apartment unit above, had heard a crying baby around the time when the murder happened.

Tamsin didn't believe Myra's Crying Baby Killer theory at all, but she wondered if there was a connection between the presence of the killer and a disturbed infant.

"Time to make my cute fiance useful," Tamsin murmured as she called Bo.

10:05 am - Crime Scene

"I heard that a badass detective needs my help," Bo teased as she walked into the apartment. She pulled Tamsin in to give her a quick kiss.

"I need you to charm the residents here and see if any of them had heard a crying baby the night of the murder."

Bo frowned a little. "A crying baby? That's oddly specific."

"Well, it was something mentioned by a witness."

Bo chuckled and leaned in. "Why do I sense that you are hiding something from me, hmmm?"

Tamsin rolled her eyes. "The night the murder happened, Myra was having a slumber party with her little rodent friend in this building. She said she had heard a crying baby."

"Myra was here that night? I did not know that. Wait…did she share a secret with you and then you two bonded?"

"No, we didn't bond. She just talked and talked and talked and I had to listen because I didn't have a choice!" Tamsin hissed, "but…she's a Ubume. She picks up the crying of babies like you pick up the sexual energy in a bar…."

"Alright, let me just ask around and see if I can help my Valkyrie on her case," Bo smiled.

12:40 pm - Crime Scene

"Well, the guy living two doors to the left actually heard a crying baby as well. Though, he said he was drunk at that time, so…he thought it was just a dream of something," Bo said, "and I also found something interesting.

"What is it?"

"There's no infant in this building," Bo said. "I've checked every apartment, and I've talked to the super as well."

"Well there has to be one. Maybe a guest brought an infant over that night or something,"

"Or, maybe, it was done by the Crying Baby Killer," Bo teased, as she had become aware of Myra's theory.

"That's not possible, Bo. You know very well that it's an urban legend."

"Maybe the killer read about it and thought hey it would be a nice ruse to get into people's homes," Bo shrugged. "Do you want me to go through case files with you?"

"You mean actually going through the case files or flipping two pages and then having wild sex on the couch?"

Bo laughed. "Maybe…something in between?" She playfully laid her eyes on Tamsin's cleavage, and allowed her eyes to turn blue for a brief moment.

2:00 pm - Police Station

After a quick bite from the food truck outside the precinct, and a quick "dessert" for Bo in Tamsin's truck, the two women settled in one of the empty interrogation rooms as they read the case files side by side.

"Why does it feel like I've seen something like this before?" Bo frowned at the crime scene photos.

"Listening."

"I think I saw something similar at Dyson's several years ago," Bo eventually remembered. "It was when he was digitizing the precinct's case files. I remembered that there was a case where exsanguination was involved."

Tamsin stood up and opened the door. "Hey, Padfoot, come here for a second."

Dyson walked into the interrogation room, slightly confused.

"Does this look familiar to you at all?" Tamsin asked as she tossed him the crime scene photos.

Dyson took a look at the photos, before he nodded with his eyebrows furrowed. "Yeah…it was 6, 7 years ago. We had a case like this. I actually was the one who found the victims."

"Oh? Do Tell."

"I got off work late that day and had a few drinks with Hale on the other side of the town. On my way home, I suddenly picked up the smell of fresh blood, like…a lot of blood. I knew something was wrong, so I followed it to an apartment complex. I found three victims there, a young couple and their son exsanguinated with their throats slit just like these victims. Also…."

"Also?"

"I also found a survivor, the couple's daughter. When I got there, she was sitting by her parents' side, crying, with blood all over her clothes."

"Wait, so we might actually have an eye witness?"

"I don't know if she's gonna-I mean, she was like 2 at the time. I don't know if she'd remember much."

"Still worth a shot, right?" Bo suggested. "Maybe if I give her the right amount of charms, she could remember something?"

"Where can we find this kid?" Tamsin asked.

"I have no idea. After I found her there, I called the child protective service. Someone came and took her. I...back then I was still navigating the whole detective stuff and the case was assigned to other detectives. I just didn't…really follow up after that."

"Looks like we need to make some phone calls then."

7:10 pm - Police Station

After having made countless calls, Tamsin had finally gotten in touch with someone who knew about that kid. The entire phone call made her frown deeply. After hanging up, she announced, "well, this is interesting."

"What did they tell you?" Bo asked as she pulled out two slices of pizza from the pizza box and placed them on a paper plate for Tamsin.

"Turns out the social worker who took the kid from the crime scene went missing, and the kid never got into the system."

"What do you mean? The person who took her just…disappeared?"

"Yep, right after he left the crime scene with the kid. He was supposed to take her back to their office and complete all the paperworks but he never made it back. The CPS filed a missing persons report the next day but the cops never found him, or her."

"Could the killer have followed them, killed him and then taken the kid?"

"Then why didn't the killer just kill her at the apartment? It would have been much easier," Tamsin commented while picking olives off her pizza slices and pilling them on Bo's.

"Maybe the killer was about to, but Dyson got there before that?" Bo guessed.

"Could be," Tamsin murmured, "but…is it just me or it's weird that the old case involved a missing toddler and the new case somehow involved a crying infant that was nowhere to be found?"

Bo gasped as her eyes opened wide. "Oh! What if…what if the toddler was killed by the killer, and her soul somehow just…haunted the killer's victims like…like the crying was some sort of dire warning from her?"

"Wow, sweetheart, why don't you pitch that idea to Netflix?" Tamsin teased as she swallowed the last bite of her pizza.

"Well…in case you haven't noticed, detective, your sweetheart is a bit hungry," Bo leaned in and whispered with a sultry voice.

"What you think I can work on a homicide case AND take care of your Succubus needs at the same time?!" Tamsin drawled as she gave Bo a glance. Then, she smirked and added, "oh wait, I totally can."

She pressed her lips close to Bo's ear and commanded, "meet me in the archive room downstairs in 5."

9:05 pm - Police Station

Dyson, who had left hours ago, got called into the precinct by Tamsin again.

"What is this about?" He asked.

"That old exsanguination case. When you got there, did anyone escape from the scene?" Tamsin asked.

"No, I don't think so. I mean, the windows were locked from the inside, and the apartment only had one entrance, the front door, which I kicked down."

"So the killer left before you got there?"

"That was what I had thought at that time, yes," Dyson answered. "The apartment had no other exits."

"What about the air vents?" Bo asked.

"No signs of anyone, or anything, going through any of the vents that day," Dyson explained.

"Then, how did that kid survive?"

"I wondered the same thing back then," Dyson replied. "I thought maybe the kid hid somewhere and the killer was in a hurry so she survived."

After a brief silence, Bo asked, "do you guys think there might be more cases like this? I mean…6 years is a long time. Could the killer have committed other murders during that time?"

"You make a good point, Bo," Dyson commented. "Let me check in the system."

11:20 pm - Police Station

"Two more cases," Dyson said as he tossed the case files on the desk. "Each case is roughly 2 years apart. These two cases happened in different districts and the detectives who worked on them never made a connection."

"So we have something out there, sucking people dry every 2 years, and this thing is still on the loose?" Tamsin grunted as she started to read the case file. Then, she frowned hard at one crime scene photo. She took it out from the folder and showed it to them.

"What's wrong with this photo?" She asked them.

"Umm…what's not wrong with this photo?" Bo asked as she took a look. It was a photo of two dead parents side by side in their bed. The look on their faces was pure horror. The bed sheets were drenched in blood.

"Look," Tamsin said as she pointed at the corner of the photo. There was a small, bloody footprint on the floor.

"A footprint?" Dyson murmured, confused. "Is there something wrong with it?"

"The killer followed the same routine, first the children, then the parents, which I find weird. If I were the killer, I'd kill the parents first, because they would be a much bigger threat to me. After that, I could do whatever I want with the kids."

"I agree," Bo said, and Dyson nodded along.

"Anyway, my point is that…if the children died first, how could one of them have left a bloody footprint in their parents' room?"

Both Bo and Dyson paused. Tamsin was about to continue, but she got an incoming email. She opened it and quickly read it, before she murmured, "you guys wouldn't believe what the CPS lady had sent me."

"What is it?"

"After our call, she thought she'd do some research on that kid and see if she could send her profile to some of her well connected friends to help with this case, but when she was doing that she found out that the couple that Dyson had found only had one child, who died with them there."

"Wait…if they only had one child, who was that kid that I found at the crime scene and why was she even there?" Dyson asked in great confusion.

Tamsin and Bo exchanged a look, and they both opened their eyes wide. "Oh, no…" they blurted at the same time.

"Oh no what?" Dyson got even more confused.

"Oh no as in…the child you found at the crime scene might actually be the killer." Tamsin explained to him.

"What?! How?"

"It could explain everything, Dyson," Bo told him. "The crying baby that Myra had heard, it was the killer's ruse. She must be crying outside the door so the victims would just let her in. No one's gonna suspect a crying child to be some sort of evil killer, right?"

"She would kill the kids first because the parents probably left her with their kids," Tamsin continued to explain. "I'm sure the parents tried to find her parents or even attempted to contact the police, but she would kill them before they could succeed. The only person who could leave a bloody footprint with that size at the crime scene would be her."

"Right, and when you discovered the bodies, she probably didn't have time to leave, so she played along. I mean, who would consider a crying toddler the suspect?" Bo said. "When the CPS guy took her, she had to kill him, because if he actually took her to the office, they'd find out that she wasn't the victims' child."

"Wow, you two really don't need me here," Dyson commented with a smile. He paused briefly, before he continued, "now the question becomes, how do we find this kid?"

"No, I think the question now really becomes, what kind of Fae takes the form of a toddler and sucks humans dry?" Tamsin corrected him.

"Let's hope Trick has an answer for us," Bo said as she texted her grandfather.

3:05 am - Police Station

Bo jolted, almost falling off her chair when her phone suddenly beeped. She rubbed her sore eyes and yawned as she took a look at her phone. "Hey guys, Trick says that it must be a Tiyanak," she announced. "They are like Vampires. They usually have the form of a toddler, and they cry to attract victims and lure them into the deep jungle before the attack."

"Guess the mother fucker adapted to city life and now just goes door to door like a girl scout. How do we kill this thing?"

"Trick says that…Tiyanaks are really the lost souls of children who died a tragic death before they were even given names. All we need to do is to find the Tiyanak, give her a name and light her a candle. Then, she'll be…cleansed and become a normal soul."

"So, how do we find her?"

"I have an idea," Dyson suggested. "I've met this kid. I can give the description to a sketch artist. With that, and the fact that she died young and a tragic death, we can probably figure out her identity."

"Sounds great," Tamsin nodded. "Why don't you do that?"

4:20 am - Bo and Tamsin's Place

Tamsin got out of the shower like a walking dead. She mumbled something as she crashed into bed. Then, when Bo got under the blanket with her, she took her into her arms and inhaled her.

"Can you believe that…in a month we are getting married?" Bo said softly.

"Mhm…and I can't wait," Tamsin said, half asleep already. She gave Bo a kiss on her temple. "Now let's get some sleep before I give you your early morning snack…"

- Several Days Later -

3:15 pm - Police Station

Tamsin and Bo stood side by side as they watched two police officers bringing the killer in. The killer was in her true form - a small, malicious goblin-like creature with a big mouth and a big nose. Her claws were as sharp as fine daggers. Shackled and chained, she fought and struggled, hissing and spitting.

"You want to do the honor?" Tamsin asked Bo as she handed her a white candle.

"Oh, no, this is your case, Tamsin. Just give her a name."

"Fine," Tamsin snatched the white candle from Bo. She grabbed a lighter from her desk drawer and lit it. "Your name is Selene."

Like casting a magic spell, the creature quieted down as she stared at Tamsin.

"Really? Underworld?" Bo whispered as she leaned in.

"What else do you call a blood sucker? She's lucky I didn't name her Bloodsucker," Tamsin whispered back.

She lit the candle, and the creature's true form started to change. Eventually the malicious goblin disappeared. All it left there was a scared toddler.

"There, cleansed," Tamsin said as she blew the candle out.

"What happens now?" Bo asked.

"She'll be sent to a facility that specializes in dealing with..malicious spirits that have been cleansed and reborn," Dyson explained.

8:00 pm - Bo and Tamsin's Place

"See! I told you! It's the Crying Baby Killer!" Myra beamed at Tamsin.

"No, it's not. It's a Tiyanak, who shapeshifts into a crying child and kills people. It's not some lunatic who plays a crying baby tape to lure the victim out," Tamsin snorted.

"They heard a child crying. They opened the door. They got killed. The same as the Crying Baby Killer. When can I have my ice cream?"

"No, you don't get ice cream, kid, because it's not the Crying Baby Killer."

"Yes it is," Myra crossed her arms in front of her chest.

Tamsin let out a frustrated growl. "Why did you bring her here?" She hissed at Kenzi.

"Well…she said you promised her ice cream once the case is closed," Kenzi replied. "I mean, technically, she's…not wrong about the killer. Why would you even be arguing with a 10 year old over technicality?"

Tamsin groaned. "Fine, fine, fine," she bit out as she went into the kitchen and grabbed a bowl. She scooped the ice cream like she was murdering someone.

"So," Kenzi nudged Bo as she watched Tamsin and Myra in the kitchen, who were fighting over who should have the last scoop of rocky road. "You are gonna be married to Officer Grumpypants in a month, Bobo. In a month! Panicking yet?"

"Actually…I just can't wait," Bo answered without hesitation as she smiled at her best friend.
