Kaysa watched as a female form formed in front of her. It was a tall woman, with long dark hair falling over her face. Her skin was white as snow and her large black eyes were fixed on her. Loki kept calling out to Kaysa, trying to make her run away. He was shouting for her to get to safety, but Kaysa couldn't hear him. All her attention was on the figure that was beginning to walk towards them.

"Well, well." Her voice sounded cold in Kaysa's head. "What's going on here?" For a moment, Kaysa remembered the sensation she felt the first time she heard Malekith's voice in her head repeating over and over again that she was him. She had to be strong this time. She wasn't going to let them manipulate her like a puppet again. She owed it to her child. Her child. Kaysa glanced sideways at Loki, who was fighting the poison trying to work its way through his veins. His sweaty brow and ragged breathing flooded the place. The thought of her child growing up without its father terrified her, and again her dilemma returned. Who to save? Loki was her child's father. A child who would never be acknowledged and whose destiny was written in being just another bastard of the nobility. Would it have Loki's support? Or like so many kings and princes, would she be forced to get rid of it? Yet she loved the man, and deep within her, she harboured the hope of sharing a life with him. But Kaira was her sister. She was her blood, and she had supported her with the baby from the moment she knew of its existence. And there were her feelings for Thor. She had never seen her sister so happy around a man. Never had they been able to touch her heart the way Thor had. She deserved a happy ending, after all.

"Hela." Thor muttered. His voice brought Kaysa back to the reality of facing the strange woman who was surely going to claim the souls of her sister and Loki. Kaysa watched as Thor instinctively stood in front of Kaira, protecting her from any attack the woman might attempt. Thor was protecting what he wanted. He was keeping her sister safe. Kaysa, did the same for Loki, standing at his level. Loki called her name in a whisper and with his gaze ordered Kaysa to come closer. Keeping her eyes on Hela, Kaysa knelt down, bringing her face to Loki's level.

"You have to listen to me, Kaysa. For once, I need you not to question what I say. Go away. Save your sister and let Thor and I handle this." Loki swallowed hard as his face contracted. Kaysa shook her head. She had to tell Loki the truth about why she couldn't leave him there. She had to tell him about the baby. Kaira's voice rang out in the distance as she tried to draw her to her.

"It seems the Gods have decided to be generous to me." Hela laughed cruelly as she walked towards them. Hela looked at Kaira and walked towards her. Her sister needed her. Thor and Kaysa stepped in front of Kaira. "An elf?" Hela tried to reach her thin, bony hand toward Kaira's face. Thor prevented him by raising his hammer, at which point Kaysa pulled her sister out of her reach. Hela managed to push Thor out of the way by smashing his hammer into a great blade that came out of the depths of the earth. Neither Kaysa nor Thor saw it coming. They could not face her. "What's going on here?" Hela looked closely at the situation. How Kaysa and Thor defended Kaira caught his attention. She didn't understand so much movement over a mere elf. But she didn't look like a normal elf. Her dress gave her away and so did the pendant shimmering coyly around her neck. Hela knew the power that pendant held. She opened her hand in front of Kaysa and with an unexpected twist, Thor and Kaysa fell to the ground as they struggled to relieve the pressure they felt in their throats. Loki forced himself to break the chains as he watched Kaysa struggle to catch her breath. He knew there was a way to do it, but that would be the end of Kaysa. He had sworn to protect her above all else. Even his own life. Kaira ran to her sister as she tried to help her. She was trying to cast her fourth spell when she felt Hela raise her arm and twist it until her wrist was exposed. Kaira watched the scene in fear. She wasn't afraid of Hela, but she was afraid of what she could do to her sister.

Kaysa looked at Thor, hoping he knew what to do, but God was struggling. They couldn't physically confront her. If they wanted to defeat her, Thor needed Hela to be distracted. And seeing the power she harboured, there was only one way to do that. Kaysa focused and began to mutter elvish spells. Her voice, barely a whisper, drifted into Hela's ears like a lullaby. Kaysa could feel the effect of her spell and insist on delving deeper into it. She only had to distract her for a few minutes and Thor would take care of the rest. As if she had opened a locked door, Kaysa knew her spell had worked. She had put Hela into a deep sleep, though she doubted how long she could keep her there. Kaysa opened her eyes and found herself on the edge of a cliff that was being pounded hard by the rough waves of the sea. A figure loomed and flashed against them, causing them to shatter into a thousand drops of water. Kaysa watched the scene in amazement. It must have been in her head, not on that cliff. People's minds are usually clear and empty, surrounded by nothing. Hela's was sad and angry.

Kaysa began to wander through that strange mind, capturing every detail she saw in it. She had to keep keeping her in this situation so that Thor could act. But she was too curious to find out the source of so much pain. Kaysa focused on the waves crashing against Hela and noticed that they all had the same shape: Odin. That had to be her distraction. To keep Hela in that dream, she had to use the figure of Odin. With his eyes closed, he tried to control the raging sea as he had always done. The lake of Svartalfheim was easy to master, its calm waters mouldable with just a little concentration. This time Kaysa had to do more.

"Did you really think I was going to give up so easily? Hela shouted as she continued to flash against the waves. "I know what you've done to me. Damn you!" Kaysa instinctively recoiled as she realised that Hela was actually fighting her spell. "I'll go after you first. I don't care if I get an elf or not. I was promised two souls." Kaysa discovered how to save Kaira. Hela did not want Kaira. She wanted a soul. Suddenly, Kaysa was back on the esplanade. She fell backwards as she felt her spell undo itself. "Where the hell are you?" she heard Hela searching for her, but her sight was blinded by darkness. The spell had required a great deal of effort on her part. The only way to save his sister was to sacrifice herself.

"You've got me here," Kaysa shouted. She still hadn't been able to regain her sight, but she felt Hela's darkness move quickly until it reached her. Loki was still trying to break free of his chains and felt Malekith slowly working his way into his mind. He was the first one who needed Loki alive in order to survive. But Loki could not let him go free. He had to stay strong for Kaysa.

"Damn elf." Kaysa heard her voice in her head. "Did you think you could fool me? I am the Goddess of Death. No one escapes my world without my permission first." Hela grabbed Kaysa by the shoulders, digging her claws into her thin skin. Kaysa heard her sister's cries of despair, calling out to her as Thor's voice tried to soothe her. Kaysa wished Thor would get her out of there as soon as possible. If Hela found out she was going to or the opposing elf, she could finish them all off on the spot. And then she wouldn't be able to save anyone. "Wait a minute. You." Kaysa felt her stomach twist. Hela knew she wasn't Kaira. "You're not the one from before. There's something different about you." Kaysa's muscles tensed as she thought about Hela's words and about what that could mean. "There are two energies."

"Two energies?" Loki asked. Kaysa looked at Loki who was pale and sweating because of the wounds. Hela looked at Kaysa. The elf was with bright and scared eyes looking at the Prince. Hela understood what was going on. She took Loki's hand as she concentrated on him. "Your energy. She has it." Loki fixed his eyes in Kaysa's, trying to get an explanation. "Your child." Hela looked at Kaysa. Loki's eyes widened like wide plates, and Kaysa could see in them not anger or rage, but fear.

"Loki, let me talk to you." Kaysa felt the air run out of her.

"Kaysa. I beg you, leave before it's too late!" Kaysa watched as Loki tried to break free of his chains, strands of blood trickling from his wrists where they dug in the most. "Don't do it for me, but for the baby at least!" Loki cast his gaze at Kaysa and Kaysa could see his eyes turn dark. "Thor, get her out!" At that moment, Kaysa felt a force push her and managed to free her from Hela's arms. The wind, which was hitting Kaysa's face, suddenly stopped and her feet touched solid ground. That was when Kaysa allowed herself to open her eyes.

"What the hell are you doing, I have to help him again!" Kaysa shouted as she pushed Thor hard.

"Are you crazy, haven't you noticed, Loki isn't the same anymore!" Thor shouted back as he blocked her path.

"Kaysa!" Kaysa turned and saw her sister approaching her.

"Kaira, I have to." Kaysa took her sister's hand and brought it to her belly, which was already marking slightly. "For him or her." Kaira closed her eyes and noticed the light flowing from her sister's belly. It was the same light she had seen with Frigga that day in the gardens as she taught her power to her. Kaira turned to Thor, still with her hand on KAysa's belly.

"Kaira, we can't do this," Thor told her as he saw his beloved's expression. "It's dangerous for her and her baby." Thor approached the sisters but his attention was focused on Kaysa. "I have lost my brother. I cannot allow us to lose his child as well."

"But he is there. Somewhere. He just needs help getting out." Kaysa knew what she was talking about. She herself had had to put up with Malekith in her head for years.

"But he won't be able to protect you. They'll come after you as they know you're carrying his child. Knowing that this creature is a demigod and the child of the dark elf queen." Kaysa raised her head in surprise and met Thor's eyes that glowed with pride. It was the first time since she had been caught as a prisoner that he had called her and acknowledged her as queen. "We must go." Thor turned to raise his hammer and call Heimdall, asking him to open the Bifrost. He held Kaira tightly as he gave her a sweet look of satisfaction. At least they had gotten her out of there safely. The loss of Loki was a heavy blow for him, but he would look to Kaira for comfort. The elf looked at her sister and held out a hand, inviting her to cross that bridge together. Kaysa cast a glance into the distance as if she could still feel Loki there, grieving. She took her sister's outstretched hand and nodded as the area began to brighten. The three of them began to ascend and pick up speed. Kaysa felt she could still hear Loki's screams and Hela's laughter. Their voices were getting louder, but she was sure it was all in her head. However, the sensation began to make her uncomfortable and Kaysa tried to distract herself by looking around. It was then that she saw the figure of Hela on a chariot pulled by a large, monstrous dog being driven by Loki. There was no trace of the green eyes that had always accompanied her during those months. Instead, two large, dark eyes were fixed on her. His devilish grin made Kaysa's stomach twist. He was coming for her.
