INTERLUDE - THE GRANGERS
Gingiver Granger was a worried woman as she read her daughter's latest missive from Hogwarts. It seemed that her and Dent's unspoken fears about racism had been realized, although Sparhawk had apparently taken his grandmother's words to heart and there'd been a 'duel' of sorts. That bit had cracked her up. Oh, children were precious.
Then there was the increasing reference to Sparhawk being a very religious chap. That was rather unexpected, but not entirely troubling. What was troubling was that her daughter seemed to be increasingly roped into whatever paganism the young man was practicing, judging from how she'd excitedly gushed about how Sparhawk had taught her a whole slew of things that his Goddess had supposedly helped him learn. She was sure there was something missing in translation there, but with her daughter's increasingly positive views...if she didn't know better, she would assume Sparhawk was trying to convert her daughter. But that was ridiculous. What was he supposed to be? Some sort of Christian?
"What's got you in such a mood?" asked Dent, playfully tweaking her long ginger hair.
Grimly she handed him the letter.
"Oh, It's from Hermes!" and Dent sat down to pore through the letter with some fascination. When he was done, he glanced up happily. "Well, it seems like little Sparhawk is looking out for her, yes?"
"Read between the lines, Dent!" snapped Gingiver.
"Huh?"
"Our daughter..."
"Yes"
"Our Christian daughter..."
"That she is"
"...is leaning dangerously towards some sort of paganism."
"Huh!"
He read through the letter again.
"Why I believe you're right!"
Gingiver looked pensive. "Things are already tense, what with her being a witch."
"Ridiculous term that!"
"And now there's paganism on top of that"
Dent sighed. "Well, I guess it's time to bring out the ol' stake and petrol then?'
"Don't be ridiculous Dent. We're not bigots!"
"Huh!"
A/N: I was supposed to post a chapter. But this is what you're getting. I am so sorry.
