Scythle Rebounded Off Walls Inside The Boat And Guards Alike, A Purple Streak Firing Off A Stream Of Bullets At Whatever Targets She Could Catch A Glimpse Of Before She Kicked A Man In The Face, Throwing Herself To The Floor, Where She Slid Back And Fired Another Shot Into A Man's Chin As She Flew Under His Legs. Quickly Jumping To Her Feet, She Threw Her Pistols About, Firing At Whatever Guards She Could See, Chuckling To Herself As They Fell To The Floor.
"Now, You See, I Told You Guys I Could Kill Them All." She Said As She Stretched Her Arms, Chuckling To Herself Some More As She Looked Between The Groups Of Terrified Party Goers. "Just Saying, We Could Have Done This The Easy Way." She Pulled Her Cloak Off Her Shoulders And Pulled It Around Into A Make Shift Bag. "Now Then, About The Payment For My Services?"
The Citizens Began Reaching For Their Pockets, Or Jewelry, Or Anything They Thought Could Keep The Girl Calm As She Walked Along The Lines, Holding Out Her Cloak For Them To Drop The Valuables Into. "Yeah, Just Keep Those Dollar Signs Going Up." Scythle Muttered To Herself As She Reached The End Of The Line, Looking Over To The Next Group Holding Onto Shining Pearls And Golds And Silvers As A Woman With Sharp, Animal Like Claws Dropped Her Bracelets Into The Collection. "Almost Forgot How Good This-"
Kill him.
"This… This Feel…" Scythle Muttered As Her Attention Was Drawn To One Man In Particular, Dressed Much More Casually Then Most Of The Suits In The Room, Yet Much More Modestly Than The Swimsuits. She Locked Eyes With Him As She Approached, Stumbling, Swaying Back And Forth Like The Room Had Been Coated In Water Around Her.
Kill him now.
The Bag Slipped Out Of Her Hands, Allowing The Stolen Goods To Pour Out Like Flood Waters As Scythle Reached Behind Her Back With Heavy Hands. Flicking Out Her Wrists, Her Pistols Unfolded Into Their Knife Form, Catching Any Light They Could As She Narrowed Her Eyes At Him. Tightening Her Grip On The Weapons, She Leaned Forwards As She Picked Up Speed, Pushing The Blades Forward As She Closed In.
A Quick Splash Of Red Flew Out Of His Chest As The Blades Dug In, Giving Way To A Waterfall Of Blood Pouring Out As She Pulled The Blades Out And Pushed Them Into His Ribs Again, And Again, And Again. She Gritted Her Teeth As He Slid Down The Wall, The Scream Of Fear Getting Caught In His Throat Like Thick Tar As The Rest Of The Crowd Backed Away. Pulling The Blades Out One Last Time, She Brought Them Up To His Throat And Cut It Open, Allowing The Blood To Spill Out Onto His Shirts Collar Before She Raised Her Head, Quickly Glancing Around As If Only Then Realizing Where She Was.
Spinning Around On Her Prosthetic, She Quickly Sprinted Back Down The Length Of The Room, Grabbing Her Cape Before Throwing One Of Her Blades At A Window. As It Shattered, She Quickly Kicked Herself Up, Jumping Through The New Hole Out Of The Boat. Diving Towards The Water As She Pulled Her Cape On, She Got A Good Look At The Black Suit She Was Wearing In Her Reflection Before Hitting The Water.
Scythle's eyes flung open, and her body spasmed within the sheet of fabric she called a bed before she realized where she was. She looked around the dark room as she sat up, before falling back into her bed with a groan. "That's The Fourth Night This Week." She muttered to herself as she rolled over. "Wasn't Even Aware The Author Could Give Me Dreams."
Scythle found herself in Ecrubeige's office the next day, lying on a couch she hadn't realized he had. In spite of her protests, she still needed to meet him every Saturday, answer whatever questions he asked her and perform any test he handed her, all for the sake of, 'getting to the root of her problem.' She hated the first session, and she could barely stand the second; but to her surprise, this third session wasn't as bad as the last two. The questions didn't feel nearly as brain taxing, and after the first half of the session, all she had to do was explain most of her life up to that point.
"And That's Pretty Much How I Used To Live Before Being Captured." Scythle finished explaining to Ecrubeige as she lazily threw a small ball into the air above her. "Just Jumping Around From One Kingdom To The Next, Wait For The Manhunts To Die Down, And Never Stop Moving."
"And this is all the truth, Ms. Dieful?" Ecrubeige asked.
"Yeah, Of Course." Scythle said before shrugging. "Eh, Well, Mostly. It's How I Remember It, At Least."
"And you've been doing this for how long, again?" Ecrubeige asked as he took down a note.
"Since I Was…" Scythle caught the ball and began shaking it in her hand as she tried to come up with an answer, feeling the sand shaking within it before she finally threw it again. "Nine? Eleven-ish. Somewhere In That Ballpark."
"So six years at the longest." Ecrubeige muttered as he took down more notes.
"Well, As A Pro Anyway." Scythle said, sitting up as the ball fell into her hand. "Up Until Then, I Only Managed To Get Anywhere By Pick-Pocketing And Crawling Through Small Spaces. Then I Went For Bigger Fish, Got My Leg Chopped Off, And Then Created A Series Of Weapons To Ensure I'd Never Be That Venerable Again."
"And what of your Aura?"
"My Wha?" Scythle asked after throwing the ball into the air, allowing it to fall to the floor past her hand.
"When did you unlock your Aura and Semblance?" Ecrubeige asked. "In the face of great tragedy, ones Aura can unlock itself, but when did you discover your Semblance, or learn to use it like you do?"
"I… I…" Scythle muttered to herself, tapping her head in the hopes that the noise would wake up the memories. "I Don't Know, I Just Remember The Dust Shop And Then… Then I'm Working On A Robbery With My New Weapons About A Year Later, Zipping Around At The Speed Of The Wind." She quickly shrugged, pulling on a wide grin. "Eh, I Barely Remember Where I Learned To Talk, Honestly. Memory's Normally Pretty Bad." Ecrubeige hummed to himself as he dotted down another note as Scythle continued. "I Don't Even Remember If I Put On Pants This Morning."
"Hmm, Thank you, Ms. Dieful." Ecrubeige said as he reached into his desk for her file. "That's all I intended to talk with you about," As Scythle began to get up, Ecrubeige raised a hand, gesturing for her to sit back down. "Though we still have some time left in this session. Is there anything else you would like to discuss with me?"
Scythle was ready to say no and dart out the door as she had last week before clamping her mouth shut and looking back at the doctor. "… Well, Actually… Have Any Of Your Patients Talked With You About Their Dreams Before?"
"From when they were sleeping?" Ecrubeige asked as he placed the folder on the table, before tucking his hands together. "Of course, the sub-conscious mind can often times help me understand the patient's psyche."
"Well, I've Been Having These… Weird Dreams Since That Robbery A Few Days Ago." Scythle began, sitting back down on the couch. "I'm… I'm Always On A Boat, Going To Or From Vale, And I'm Just… Going To Town On Everyone." The doctor cocked an eyebrow as Scythle began rubbing her temple. "And Then I Hear Someone Say-Tell Me To Kill Someone In Particular, And I Just… Do It… I Just Kill Them And Dive Off."
"Are there any other details you can remember?" Ecrubeige asked as he ran his pencil across a piece of paper.
"… It-It's A Man's Voice." Scythle said, scrunching her eyes. "I Think. It Sounds Kinda High Pitched, But It Sounds Like A Man." She began messaging her temples with her fingers as the doctor took down his notes. "It Sounds… Familiar."
"Have you ever had dreams like this before," The therapist asked. "Or at least anything similar."
"Oh, Not By A Long Shot." Scythle said. "Normally They're The Standard Wet Dreams And Stuff."
"Of course." Ecrubeige muttered, still off-put by his clients crude nature. "Well, while it hasn't been going on long enough for me to properly interpret, recurring dreams are typically caused by something in your life that causes stress, typically when you don't acknowledge it. As for what is happening in your dream, I'm afraid it's too vague for me to properly interpret, but with your comments on the voice, it's possibly it could be a sign of repressed memories."
"Repressed?" Scythle muttered as Ecrubeige jotted down another note.
"That would explain your tendency to rewrite your history in absurd ways." The therapist said before slipping the papers into Scythle's folder. "You aren't fully aware of it yourself."
"I… I Know Exactly Who I Am, Doctor." Scythle grumbled, standing up before crossing her arms. "I'm The Main Character Here, If Anyone Knows My History, It's Me."
"It's nothing to feel insulted about, Ms. Dieful." The therapist said. "Most minds tend to repress and run away from traumatic experiences-"
"Do I Look Like The Type Of Girl Who Runs Away From Her Problems?" Scythle snarled, slamming a hand into his desk as she leaned in. "I Wouldn't Have Made It Anywhere If I Was. I'm A Student At Beacon In A RWBY Fan Fiction, I Tackle My Problems Head On."
"I'm not saying you don't." Ecrubeige said, catching Scythle as she turned to leave. "Though our minds tend to act in ways we ourselves don't fully realize."
Scythle let out a cross between a sigh and a snarl as she reached for the doorknob, glancing over her shoulder at the therapist. "Whatever, Session's Expired For The Day, Doc. You Can Psycho-Analyze Me Next Week." As the door clicked shut behind her, Scythle let out another sigh before smirking. "Course, We'll Probably Skip Over It, But You'd Never Know."
"So how'd it go?" Ruby asked as she got up from her chair she seemed to always sit in while waiting on her sister's sessions, laying the weapons magazine on the table in front of her as she approached her purple double.
"Same As Always." Scythle moaned before stretching. "I Thought Therapy Was Supposed To Make Me Feel Better, Not Tired."
"It's a process, I'm sure you'll feel results eventually." Ruby said as she took her sister's hand. "Now come on, we still need to finish your extra credit assignments."
"Uh, Why Is This School Such A School?" Scythle moaned as Ruby began dragging her off to the library.
Scythle ran her fingers across the hard-light screen of her Scroll, quickly scanning over the images and files across the page as she and Ruby sat in the library, books on world history scattered about the table as the two worked on Oobleck's extra credit assignment. Whipping her forehead, Ruby looked over at her sister as she stuck another sticky-note into the textbook. "Well, I think I've found all the sources you could need, you find any good images."
Scythle didn't answer as she continued to scroll through the page, eyes never leaving the device in her hand. Ruby scooted towards her sister, shaking her shoulder. "Amethyst?"
"Huh?" Scythle asked, finally taking her eyes off her Scroll as she looked at her twin. "Sorry, What Were You Saying?"
"You weren't looking up porn again, were you?" Ruby asked, narrowing her eyes before Scythle put up her hands.
"What, No, Of Course Not." Scythle sputtered out, glancing between her sister and the Scroll. "I Was Just…" She let out a sigh before she pulled her Scroll up, showing her sister the articles upon articles of White Fang attacks in Vale. "Look, Something About The Whole 'Frame The White Fang,' Thing Keeps Rattling In My Brain, So I've Just Kinda… Been Looking For Any Other Attacks The WF Were Framed For."
"Sis, You don't need to worry about that. Ozpin can handle it." Ruby said, looking over the collection of tabs Scythle collected.
"Yeah, I Don't Trust Ozpin To Stop A Toy Car." Scythle stated, eyes drifting away from her sister. "Plus, That Canister Thing Gave Me A Weird Sense Of… Of Déjà Vu. It's Like I Know This, But I Don't Know This."
"Amethyst, you don't need to worry about this." Ruby said, bringing her arm around Scythle's shoulder to pull her into a hug. "Ozpin knows what he's doing, he wouldn't have gotten his job if he didn't; and I'm sure once he stops this, he'll tell us all about how you relate to-" Ruby stopped mid-sentence as she scrolled through the tabs on Scythle's Scroll, quickly reading the title of the last one before tightening her grip on her sister's shoulder. "I thought you said you weren't looking up porn!"
"Oh, Right, I Might Have Been Doing That On The Side." Scythle stated, causing Ruby to roll her eyes. "Apparently, Shifting Through Articles Upon Articles Of Terrorist Attacks To Find The Fakes Is Kinda Boring."
"And Then I Said, 'But Officer, I Don't Have Any Panties To Lose!'" Scythle Finished Before The Table Burst Into Laughter As She Chugged The Remainder Of Her Soda, Most Of Her Team Throwing Their Heads Back As Weiss Sprawled Across The Table.
"You, My Friend, Are A Running Riot." Blake Said As She Slowly Composed Herself, The White-Haired Girl Still Wheezing Face Down On The Table.
"What Can I Say? It's What I Do Best." Scythle Said As She Leaned Back In Her Chair, Running Her Eyes Over The Party Before Glancing Back At Her Team. "Although, I'm Also Pretty Good At Getting Women."
"We Know, Sis." Ruby Brushed Off As Weiss Picked Herself Up.
"Yeah, I Mean, Who Else In The World Has Thirty-Seven Wifes?" Yang Asked As Scythle Shrugged.
"What Can I Say? I'm Just That Attractive." Scythle Chuckled Before Sipping Her Soda, Finishing The Can. "I Mean, Remember Back At Beacon, When All Those Girls Were Literally Lining Up To Fuck Me?"
"One Of These Days, You Need To Teach Me How You Do It." Yang Said As The Rest Of The Group Chuckled.
"Eh, You Either Got It Or You Don't." Scythle Smirked As She Threw Her Soda Can Over Her Shoulder, Letting It Clank And Deform Off The Walls And Pillars Of The Boat Before Landing In The Garbage Can. "It's Not Exactly Something I Can Teach You," She Began Explaining As A Man Walked Behind Her Sister. "Though I'm Surprised That My Doppelganger Hasn't-"
Kill him.
"Ha-Hasn't… Hasn't Managed To…" Scythle Felt Her Train Of Thought Jump Rails As She Followed The Man With Her Eyes, Locking Onto His White Jacket As He Picked Up A Glass From A Table. "Ma-Managed… I… I Need To…"
Kill him.
Limply, She Lifted Herself Up Out Of The Chair, Vaguely Hearing The Gurgled Questions Of Her Friends As She Stumbled Over Towards The Man. She Felt Like She Was Walking Through Water, And Her Breathing Felt Like It, Too. She Stumbled Over To One Of The Waitresses, Dressed In The Usual Scythle Dieful Fan Attire, Allowing Her Gargoyle Like Winds To Unfold Behind Her; And Yet, She Paid It No Mind As She Lazily Pulled A Bottle Of Wine Off The Tray She Was Carrying, Knocking Over The Glasses As She Absentmindedly Wondered Off.
Kill him now.
Scythle Spun The Bottle Around In Her Hand, Tightly Gripping The Cold Glass As The Music Was Drowned Out, Muffled And Distorted As She Wondered Up Behind The Man. She Lifted Up The Bottle, Feeling Its Weight Shift With The Wine As The Man Talked With One Of The Guests, Drinking His Beverage, Unaware Of The Girl Behind Him.
Kill.
"Kill…" Scythle Muttered Out, Almost Too Quiet To Be Heard Before She Brought The Bottle Down.
The Glass Let Out A Loud Scream As It Shattered, Shards Digging Into The Man's Skin As He Fell To The Floor, His Coat Now Stained Purple. All Fluidity Returned To Scythle's Body Then, And She Lifted Up Her Scythleg And Brought It Down Onto The Man's Chest. With A Loud And Deafening *BANG!* Scythle Let Out A Shot, And The Bullet Dug Into The Man's Chest, Causing A Splash Of Blood To Rise Up. Scythle Dropped To Her Knees, Pulling Back The Bottle Before Whacking It Across His Face, Causing The Shards To Dig Into His Skin Before She Brought The Remainders Of The Glass Back Up, Plunging It Into His Face.
Kill. Kill. Kill!
The Music Died, Not That Scythle Noticed, As She Brought Her Scythleg Up To The Man's Neck And Fired Off Another Shot, Jumping Off Of Him. She Spun Around In The Air, Seeing The Faces Melt Together As She Landed Before Throwing The Remains Of The Wine Bottle At The Window, Shattering The Glass As Everyone Moved In Like Floodwaters. Another Shot Filled The Room, And Scythle Found Herself Flying Out The Window.
She Quickly Began To Fall Headfirst Toward The Water, Giving Her A Chance To Catch Her Distorted Reflection. She Casual Ware She Had Was Now Gone, Replaced By A Black Suit That Was Shrouded By Her Purple Cape, Not A Tare To Be Seen As Her Eyes Narrowed Behind Her Mask As She Put Out Her Hands. She Cut Into The Water Like A Knife, Pushing It Out Of The Way Before It Submerged Her, Surrounding Her In The Place Of The Air.
For A Moment, It Was Dark And Blue, But It Was Quickly Overtaken By The Golden Liquid. It Felt Cold Yet Burned Her Skin, Thick And Thin, Calm Yet Wild. She Tried To Move, But It Held Her Down Like Concrete Weights, And She Fell Slowly To Darkness.
Return to me.
Scythle's eyes shot open before she sat up, bringing up her arm to wipe away the sweat that wasn't there before she looked around the dark room. The only light she could see was the moonlight coming in through the window. She silently groaned to herself as she shifted in her bed, jumping out of it and causing it to sway before hopping to the middle of the room, looking over at the clock on the table between the beds.
3:56 AM.
"Yeesh, And I Thought Rubes Was A Morning Person." Scythle muttered to herself before hopping back over to her bed. She sat down on the stretched-out fabric before turning over, laying in the sheet as she stared at the ceiling, before closing her eyes, slowly drifting back to sleep.
Kill.
She forced her eyes open once more before rolling over, rubbing a circle into her forehead. "I… I Know You, Don't I?" Sitting back up, Scythle glanced at the door before glancing back over at the clock, humming to herself as she slid off the bed and locked her leg into place.
"You Wouldn't Make Me Do Anything That Would Fuck Up The Rest Of The Story, Would You?" Scythle asked, looking up at the ceiling. Cracking her neck, Scythle threw open the closet door and disappeared into the room, before coming out in a very poorly done Weiss Schnee outfit.
Scythle took a quick glance at her reflection in the window, pulling on several Weiss-ish faces before smirking to herself as she turned away. "I'll Be Honest, I Barely Recognize Me."
With that, she quickly opened her team's dorm room and jumped out into the hall, pressing herself against the walls of the hallway as she tiptoed down the dark corridors, humming the Mission: Impossible theme rather loudly all the way.
Glynda chugged down the remainder of her coffee before slamming the mug back down on the desk, glancing between all the monitors portraying the various halls and corners of Beacon as she rested her head in her hand, groaning to herself as she recalled how Ozpin had convinced her to fill in for the usual night shift tonight. "This is the last time I bet on odds." She mumbled to herself as she ran her eyes across the cameras once more.
Her thoughts then shifted from reminiscing on her previous choices to a quick blur across one of the cameras. Cocking an eyebrow as she looked to the next monitor, she saw a similar streak race across the screen before stopping at a corner in perfect view of the camera. She rolled her eyes as she quickly recognized Scythle, wearing one of Weiss's dresses for some reason before she spun her chair around and got up.
"What's that idiot up to this time?" Glynda grumbled as she pulled the door open.
Scythle pressed herself up against another wall, reaching into Weiss's jacket to pull out the map of the school, still humming the Mission: Impossible theme as she looked around the corner, quickly locating the door to Beacon's lab. She smirked to herself as she tucked the paper into her pocket before rushing over to the door, sliding into her knees as she reached for her lock picks.
*Blam!*
"Ow!" She cried out as she pulled her face off the hard surface of the metal door, gripping her nose as she pushed herself back a few inches. "Can't They Make These Doors Any Softer?" She grumbled to herself as she looked over the doorknob. "I Should Really Get A Stunt Double Or Something."
"How's about you get on your feet and explain what you're doing here?"
Scythle's eyes widened as she slowly looked over her shoulder at Pr. Goodwitch, who slapped her riding crop into her other hand as Scythle quickly pulled herself to her feet and put on her best Weiss face. "We-Well, You See, Pr. Goodwitch, I – Weiss Schnee, Heiress Of The Schnee Dust Company And Resident Stuck Up Bitch – Simply Wanted To-To Ensure That The Beacon La-Bore-Atory Was Up To-To Proper Standards!" She spun around to better face the teacher, who continued to scowl at the not-at-all white-haired girl as Scythle put a hand to her face in what she presumed to be a Weiss-esk fashion. "Y-Yeah, Something Like That."
"Ms. Dieful, who do you think your fooling with this?" Goodwitch growled.
"Well, The Author Almost Called Me Weiss In The Last Paragraph." Scythle said before her eyes widened. "I-I Mean – What In My Good Name Are You Talking About. I - Weiss Schnee – Heiress Of The Schnee Dust Company And Resident Stuck Up Bitch – Am Most Certainly Not That-That Baboon Scythle Dieful. Why, She-She Probably Doesn't Know How To Work My-" Scythle found herself reaching up to the silver tiara on the side of her head before smirking. "Crown."
"I thought it was a diadem?" Glynda stated in an annoyed tone, causing Scythle to gasp.
"R-Right You Are!" Scythle proclaimed, attempting a verbal back space. "I - Weiss Schnee, Heiress Of The Schnee Dust Company And Resident Stuck Up Bitch – Was Merely Testing To See-Ensure That You Were-"
"Or was it a coronet?"
"O-Oh, Right, Got Me – Weiss Schn-"
"Or was it a nemes? I always get these mixed up."
"… You're Not Buying Any Of This, Are You?" Scythle asked, finally deciding to drop the act that fooled no one.
"No, please, keep going, I want to see if you'll call it a fedora." Goodwitch said before swinging her riding crop. Scythle pulled back as Glynda did so, before feeling herself get lifted off the ground, brought up to eye level with her teacher. "Now, what are you doing out here this late?"
"I… Was… Hoping To Run Into You?" Scythle asked more than said before Goodwitch turned around.
"And here we are, shall we discuss your expulsion or execution first?" Goodwitch asked as she pulled Scythle down the hall.
"Okay-Okay-Okay!" Scythle sputtered out, getting the teacher to stop as the blonde turned to look at her. "I-I Was Planning On Sneaking Into The Lab To See What They've Figured Out On The Stuff I Brought Back A Few Days Ago."
"Even if we have, that is none of your concern." Glynda stated.
"Glynda, That Stuff Gave Me A Worse Case Of Déjà Vu Than A Flip Show." Scythle stated. "I Just-I Need To Know What This Is. I Have These… Lapses In My Memory, And I Think This Can Explain Them."
"Even so, that does not-" Glynda began before Scythle brought her hands together, ducking her head behind them.
"Glynda, Please, This-This Legit Scares Me." Scythle began. "The Idea That The Life I've Been Living Hasn't Been What I Thought It Was... This Is Important, I Can Feel It, I Wouldn't Be Having Those Reoccurring Dreams If It Wasn't; And If I Can't Remember Something This Important, Then-Then Who Even Am I?"
Glynda pinched the bridge of her nose as she turned around, and Scythle felt a slight tug in her direction as she began walking down the halls. "I am much too tired for this. You're going back to your room."
"Gly-Goodwitch, Please, I Have No Idea What Is Going On And It Scares Me." Scythle said as the clicking of Glynda's heels began to echo down the halls. "Do You Have Any Idea What This Has Been Like? How Can I Know Who I Am If I Can't Tell Who I Was. I've Told A Lot Of Lies In My Life, But The Idea That I've Been Lying To Myself?" Glynda stopped in place as she glanced back at Scythle, as the girl parted her hands to rub her forehead. "I… I Need To Know This, Glynda. What Do I Need To Tell You To Convince You To Let Me In There?"
"… I'd imagine there isn't much you could say." Glynda stated before pulling Scythle off again.
"But-"
"We'll discuss this tomorrow, Ms. Dieful." Scythle slumped in the air as Glynda continued down the hall, the purple glow around Scythle serving for most of the illumination as they headed for the girl's dorm room.
Ruby and Scythle sat on Scythle's bed the next day, looking over the email Glynda sent the purple-haired girl. The latter giving it the most worried expression as she read over the words once more. 'Meet me in my office at 11 AM. We need to talk about last night's incident.' The meaning to Scythle felt clear, and she glanced up at her sister nervously. "Wh-What Are We Going To Do?" She asked nervously.
"Not much we can do." Ruby said as she handed the Scroll back to her sister.
"Bu-But I Don't Want To Die!" Scythle cried out as Ruby got up. "May-Maybe We Can Break Out Of Beacon, Or-Or We Could-"
"Amethyst, listen to me." Ruby began, placing her hands on her sister's shoulders in an attempt to compose her. "It's not going to come to that, we-we don't know if that's what Goodwitch wants to talk about."
"What Else Could It Be?" Scythle asked, hands shaking around the Scroll. "I Broke Curfew Last Night And Tried To Break Into The Labs, You Know The Deal."
"Well, maybe-maybe we can re-convince her." Ruby said as Scythle put her Scroll away. "Either way, you'll be in more trouble if you don't go than if you do."
"I… I'm Scared, Ruby." Scythle said before Ruby's hands slid down her arms.
"Me too, Amethyst." Ruby said, taking her hands. "But it'll be okay, I'll make sure of it. I promise." Ruby pulled Scythle out of the hammock, trying to give her a reassuring smile. "Come on." Hesitantly, Scythle followed.
Scythle felt her legs quivering as the two sisters approached the door to Goodwitch's office, and she held onto her sister's hand as tight as she could as Ruby knocked on the door. All hope that the woman wouldn't be in were quickly dashed when the teacher answered. "Come in."
Ruby pulled the door open, bringing her sister in with her as Glynda put her pen down, giving the two her full attention as she leaned onto her elbow. "I take it Ms. Dieful told you what happened last night?" Glynda asked in a tired tone as the two look-alikes sat down.
Ruby was about to answer before Scythle popped up, cocking an eyebrow in a confused manor. "Eh, What Happened Last Night?" She asked in a confused tone. "I Didn't Do Anything Last Night. I Was Sleeping Like A Baby."
Goodwitch rolled her eyes as Ruby scowled at her. "Sis, you already told me everything when Weiss started ranting about needing to burn her favorite dress."
"I Said No Such Thing." Scythle stated before she looked back at Glynda, the woman giving her an annoyed scowl. "If I Did Do Anything Last Night, It Was More Than Likely A Result Of My Habit To Sleep Walk. I Do That A Lot, And It Got Me Into Quite A Bit Of Trouble In The Past."
"Ms. Dieful, you talked to me last night." The teacher stated with a scowl.
Scythle quickly shrugged her shoulders, giving the blonde a nervous grin. "I'm Very Talented In My Sleep?" She asked more than she lied before Goodwitch let out an annoyed sigh.
"To think, I wanted to help you." Glynda grumbled as Scythle brought up a finger.
"Yes, Yes, My Failure To Remain In Bed As I Sleep Has Certainly Led To-Did You Say Help Me?" Scythle asked as she and her sister looked up at the teacher wide eyed.
"I thought over what you said last night." Glynda began, leaning onto her table. "You're actions last night weren't fueled by any malicious intent, and information from the laboratory isn't restricted to staff. Had you made a request, I'm sure they would have shown you the results of their tests and explained them to you, because I'm sure if you had gotten into the lab, you would never understand the notes they took."
"So… This isn't about Amethyst getting expelled?" Ruby asked, gesturing to her sister.
"Of course not, such a discussion would involve Headmaster Ozpin." Glynda stated. "I merely called her down here so that I could let her into the labs."
"Well Then, Lead The Way, Glynda The Good!" Scythle said as she jumped out of her seat, bowing to the woman as she gestured to the door.
"Although, if you really weren't in control of your actions last night…" Glynda began, giving Scythle a sly look before the purple girl slapped her own head.
"Oh, You Meant Last Night Last Night." Scythle proclaimed loudly. "I Thought You Mean Yesterday Night Last Night." Sighing, Glynda and Ruby got out of their chairs as Scythle added. "Grammar Check Identifies Them As One And The Same, Don't Ya Know."
"We're still going to talk about the fact that you broke curfew and attempted to break into the lab last night after this." Glynda stated as she began towards the door. "Not to mention the fact that you just lied to me."
"Seriously?" Scythle asked as she followed. "I'm Still Helping The Janitors After The Last Time."
Scythle ran her eyes across the lines of notes the lab had on the substance, quickly realizing how lost she would have been had they not have been there to simplify it for her. They may have had days to test it, but everything was still relatively vague and theoretical, mere guesses as to what effects the golden liquid could produce based on substance. Though one aspect of it was clear to them.
"'Performance Enhancer?'" Scythle asked as she looked over the notes, looking up at the green eyes scientists as Glynda read the notes over her shoulder.
"The specifics still escape us," One of the scientists, short and round, noted before pointing to another section of the report. "But we believe that this substance can somehow stimulate muscle growth through the use of the Dust particles and trace amounts of anabolic steroids, producing more immediate and pronounced results while removing most of the drawbacks."
"So It's A Super-Steroid?" Scythle asked, glancing at the container standing on a table behind the scientist.
"Practically," The other, tall and lean scientist said as he put his hands in his coat's pockets. "Though what caught our interest is one of the after effects."
Scythle looked back down at the papers, scanning over them before finding the notes he was referring to. "With the traces of Dust and the combination of other chemicals within it, we believe it's possible that this could effect Aura as well."
Scythle's eyes widened as she looked down at the paper, re-reading over the notes as Ruby spoke up. "Wait, this stuff makes Aura stronger too?"
"Not just stronger," The short one said. "We have reason to believe that by taking this drug-"
"It Can Unlock Aura." Scythle finished for him, whether she was aware of what he was saying or not.
"We also believe that it can have mental effects on a user." The tall scientist said, pointing down at the notes. "We're not entirely sure how, though, we're still testing it."
"Well, Let Me Know Once You Figure It Out." Scythle said quickly as she flipped through the note's pages, quickly glancing at chemical formulas and diagrams. "Is There Anything Else You Can Tell Me, Anything At All."
"Aside from the fact that it matches absolutely nothing on record, no." The tall scientist said as Scythle flipped the notes closed.
"So what, that robber was making the stuff himself?" Ruby asked.
"No, It Was Made For Him." Scythle said, narrowing her eyes at the container. "He Just-He Just Got His Hands On It."
"Well, that's all we can tell you." The short scientist said, turning away from the pair as his partner left to get back to his experiments. "Keep those notes if you want, we'll let you know if we find anything new."
"Prioritize This Thing." Scythle said, rubbing the oncoming headache. "I'm Not Sure How, But It Relates To Me – The Main Character – So It's Important."
"Thank you for your time." Ruby said as she took Scythle's shoulder. "Come on, sis, let's go."
Scythle absentmindedly followed, pulling the notes off the table with her as she looked over the points of interest, flipping back over to the Aura page as Ruby and Glynda led her out of the lab. As the entered the hallway, Glynda looked over Scythle as she read the notes again. "So, did you get everything you needed?"
"I… I'm Not Sure." Scythle said, not taking her eyes off of the notes. "It… There's A Lot Of Blanks Here, And I Don't Know Exactly How This Relates To-To Me, But… There Has To Be Something Here."
"Don't worry about it, Amethyst." Ruby said as she patted her sister on the back. "For all we know, this stuff just reminds you of stuff you forgot. There's nothing saying this absolutely has to involve you."
"… Yeah, Maybe." Scythle muttered before chuckling, pulling on her favorite grin. "Yeah, And Here I Am Getting Worked Up Over Nothing."
"Good to know." Goodwitch stated as she pulled out her riding crop. "Now then, are you going to walk with me back to my office to discuss your punishment, or will I need to drag you there?"
"Well, It Is Kinda Funny Being Carried Like That." Scythle stated, glancing at the blonde teacher.
"First The Cafeteria, Now The First Floor Bathrooms." Scythle grumbled as she and Ruby walked away from Glynda's office. "Why Do I Need To Clean Up Messes I Didn't Make."
"Come on, sis, it's not that bad." Ruby said as Scythle stuffed her hands in her pockets, grumbling one last complaint to herself as Ruby put an arm over her shoulder. "I mean, it could have been worse."
"Yeah, Yeah." Scythle grumbled as Ruby took the lead.
"Anyway, I was planning on heading to the gym today," Ruby explained as she glanced back at her sister. "Wanna come when your done with your project."
"How's About Before?" Scythle asked as she stretched her arms. "I'm Probably Gonna Fall Asleep By The Time I'm Done With It."
"Amethyst, we need to get your grades up." Ruby stated, before Scythle's arms went limp and she slouched forward.
"Fine, Fine." Scythle complied, almost groaning as she followed her sister to the library. "Don't Think I've Ever Been To A Gym Before."
Scythle followed her sister for a few more steps before stopping in her tracks, quickly straightening her back as she squeezed her hand around the muscles weaved around her arm, flexing them to feel how hard they got. Ruby looked back at her sister as she did this, pulling up her sleeves to reveal the toned muscles of her arm. Scythle's eyes widened when Ruby spoke up, cocking an eyebrow. "What are you doing?"
"I Don't Think I've Ever Been To A Gym Before." Scythle repeated as she turned towards her sister, gesturing to her muscles as she quickly put two and two together. "Where Did These Come From?"
This chapter was actually harder to write than most of the others, and I'm not sure why. I just didn't have much passion for what I was writing here, and it all felt kinda bland to me. I also wrote this chapter a bit out of order; first I wrote Ruby and Scythle studying, then Scythle's therapy session, then the second dream before sneaking out, then the first dream, then it was a straight shot to the end. I never really bought into the idea of writing a story out of order, I always felt more comfortable writing a story chronologically, but apparently, I'm perfectly fine breaking from that convention. Also, you may recognize the scientists from my other RWBY story, HoodWitch.
Aside from that, I have nothing to add. I hope you all enjoyed, and I'll see you all in the next update.
