The Furious Wolf

I do not own Halo or the Fast and Furious franchise in any way, shape or form. They belong to their respective owners.

HereticSmurf: Glad you liked it and it just makes more sense that Six/Jericho to use a car of that era rather than bringing out his Warthog. Also, re-watching the first movie I realized that Dom and the others are hitting a hundred and sixty miles per hour, so they would've actually been faster than the Warthog.

HaloZealotDemon: That was what I was going for. Unlike in the previous version, Six is colder and has stopped pulling his punches.

Duelmest: We'll have to see what happens. For the time being though he'll keep his vigilantism under wraps. But if they do find out I'm sure they'll be horrified that they've been spending time with the murderous vigilante and wonders how long it'll be until he hunts them down. If Brian figures it out, I'm sure it's a case that will make his career.

Jesktalnaker94000: Happy New Year too you as well :) And you'll find out soon who will be going with Dom to Six's place.

Guest: Agreed. I made Six a little to cheerful and OOC. With this version I hoped that I've made him more like his canon version only a little bit more fleshed out.

SoildGhost: I'll be sure to use it, or parts of it, when I have the FBI investigate Jericho. Thanks for the help.

War Sage: Six and Dot have created twenty-sixth century with parts that are available to them. As to where he is getting the fuel from then it'll be brought up soon.

Chapter 5.

"Just my luck." The Spartan thought to himself somewhat bitterly as the crowd went into a frenzy mere moments that Leon had warned everybody about the cops and Dom had yelled at everyone to go as squadron of patrol cars came speeding down sides of the street breaking up the street race. Whilst everyone else panicked, he simply walked calmly towards where the Challenger was parked.

Looking around, he spotted Dom scrambling to his car and quickly sped away burning rubber along with dozens of other vehicles that hightailed it out of there to avoid being apprehended. The sound of chugging drew his attention to see Brian also pulling away, however compared to the others he was more sluggish.

The race had really done a number on his Eclipse to the extent that it would take a miracle for him to make it out of here in both one piece and as a free man...at any rate, it wasn't his problem.

Walking up to his Challenger, Six opened the door, climbed in and turned the power making the engine come to life. However, just as he was about to drive off the passenger door opened up and a very familiar face jumped in; one he had not been expecting to see again.

"Mia?" Six questioned seeing the brunette from the café climb into his car instead of leaving with her friends and/or brother instead of jumping in with a stranger.

"Unless you're planning on getting arrested, I'd hurry up and go." Mia recommended as she closed the door and fastened herself in. Inspecting the interior, she was taken aback when she saw the extensive work he had done inside. The entire layout had been modernized, scratch that! It looked state-of-the-art. The black leather seats were extremely comfortable to the extent that it felt like she was sitting on a cloud as she sunk into it.

The analogue layout had been replaced by a digital dashboard that had numerous features; and where the radio should have been was a large flat screen sitting bang in the middle that displayed the GPS showing their exact location. Oddly enough she saw no buttons surrounding the screen possibly hinting that in all likeliness it was touchscreen.

Not only was he a revered solider, handsome to look at, but also seemed to know his way around cars...assuming of course he had done the work himself. Just when she thought that she couldn't be any more surprised, she learnt something else about Jericho; he was really beginning to intrigue her.

Before she could think too much about it, she was thrown back into her seat as Jericho put his foot down and accelerated towards the oncoming squad cars and showed no sign of backing down. Privately, she wondered if she had made a mistake by jumping in with him instead of leaving with Letty like she had originally planned and if perhaps he had some sort of death wish as she watched him head straight for the cops.

Thankfully, she was proven wrong when he skilfully weaved through the squad cars and headed down the street away from the cops that went in the other direction. Glancing at the speedometer, she was taken aback when she saw it hit forty within the span of a few seconds.

"You make a habit jumping into strangers' cars?" Six questioned Mia as he peered up into the rear-view mirror to see the cops hot on his trail while the others tried to round up the others that headed in the opposite direction.

Keeping an eye on them for a few more moments, the Spartan frowned. This was not someone tipping the cops off and they had come to investigate, rather the raid had been orchestrated. Someone had been planning this for a while, the sheer number of cops that had arrived on the scene was a clear indication of that; the question remained who. He was tempted to conduct his own investigation...but again it had nothing to do with him.

As soon as he lost the heat and dropped Mia off somewhere, he planned to go home and forget this ever happened.

"Not usually." Six heard Mia as he looked at her from the corner of his eye to see her smiling at him. "I guess you're just special."

"Lucky me." He saw her smile morph into a smirk before he turned his attention back onto the road. Pulling the handbrake, he drifted around the corner, making Mia grip onto the railings for support, and onto oncoming traffic. Turning the wheel in the opposite direction, he straightened the car and sped down the road.

"You done this before?" Mia asked as she watched as he weaved between the traffic masterfully.

"Done what?" Six questioned as he saw blue and red light flashing behind him. Peering into the mirror for a second time, he spotted the cops racing around the corner flashing their lights and blaring the sirens as they pursed him.

"What do you think?" Mia droned as they sped down the street to escape the cops that were pursing them whizzing past the traffic that became blurs as they tore down the road.

"Well be fine." Six told her calmly as he went into fourth gear as they reached a hundred miles per hour, the engine roaring down the street quickly becoming centre of attention. "I won't let anything happen to you." He added as he briefly looked at Mia to assure her that everything would be fine.

As she looked into his eyes and heard how composed he sounded, how genuine, she could not help but believe every word he said. He sounded so self-assured, so intrepid that he would get them out of there safely; and unlike countless other his confidence didn't come from arrogance.

"How chivalrous of you." Mia smiled as Jericho pressed the brakes making her lurch forward, thankfully the seatbelt held her in place, and he pulled the handbrake and spun the wheel to do a ninety-degree turn cutting in front of the oncoming traffic and headed down the side alley to evade the cops. "Do you even know where you're going?" She asked the obvious question, her heart in her mouth as she held onto the hand bar.

"Away from here." Six responded as he tore down the alley, the engine reverberating between the buildings resembling an enraged lion.

"Do you have to take everything so literal?" Mia asked rolling her eyes as raced past the trash cans that lined the walls, which looked like blurs to her, before reaching the end of the alley and turned back onto the street.

"It's a personal choice." Six responded as he pushed down on the accelerator and raced down the street.

"You know you never answered my question." Mia remarked as she took a deep breath but couldn't keep a smile from forming as she felt the adrenaline course through her veins. Looking at Jericho, she saw that he was as calm and collected as ever. Although, if what she and the others had seen in his file was true then fleeing the cops was a walk in the park for him.

"Nor did you." Six countered as raced down the road, the Challenger quickly becoming centre of attention as the pedestrians that were either walking down the pavement or waiting for a bus to arrive all stopped what they were doing and gawked as he came shooting past them.

"Touché." Mia admitted as Jericho did a hard right and glided across the road and between the oncoming traffic making Mia's breath hitch as moved between two cars skilfully before he straighten up as they went onto Lakewood Blvd. Feeling her heart pounding like a drum, she took a deep breath and watched as he sped up and tore down the road.

The way that he was driving and how well he handled his car, Jericho could have easily been mistaken for a professional driver rather than a retired soldier. It made her wonder what else the military had taught him or if he had learnt those skills during the years that he had dropped off the grid when he was a teenager.

Staring out through the windscreen, the city became a blur to her as Jericho accelerated down Lakewood boulevard leaving her speechless, as well as a little fearful for her life, as they finally found a stretch of road that allowed her to see first-hand the sheer power the Challenger possessed.

Reaching speeds that were way beyond anything that the classic American muscle should have been capable of, she felt the car shake as they tore past the traffic weaving in and out and like the rest of the city looked like an old oil painting becoming blurry.

Glancing over at the speedometer she wanted to say that there was something wrong with the electricals, but when she barely had time to register the cars that they passed, she knew that it was accurate when she saw it display one-ninety, one ninety-five, two hundred, two hundred and five, two-ten, two-fifteen, and showed no signs of slowing down anytime soon hurtled down the boulevard.

What should have taken them around ten minutes to do, they made it from one end to the other within around a minute, although to her it felt like a lifetime, uncertain if this was how she was going to go out.

Hitting two hundred and twenty-five, Mia reached out and grasped Jericho's arm and gave it a squeeze taciturnly pleading with him to slow down. While she loved the racing scene having grown up with it, she wouldn't consider herself an adrenaline junkie like the others. Maybe if they had the road to themselves, but the last thing she wanted was for someone to get hurt because of them.

Still, it made sense how he had beaten Dom so easily.

Looking at Mia and seeing the visible distress cross her features, and how hard she was squeezing his arm, he gently applied the brakes to slow down at a gradual pace rather than abruptly and risk her suffering whiplash, he turned off down Carson Street.

"We should be in the clear." Six told her as she looked back at him, much more relaxed now that they had slowed down.

"They probably gave up the search when they realized they couldn't keep up." Mia stated as they drove past the YMCA building, relived that they had slowed down to a speed she was comfortable with. She had never gone that fast in her life and doubted the others had either. Although, she did find quite alluring how calm he seemed throughout the entire thing.

"Maybe." Six agreed. If Mia hadn't been in the car with him, he would have simply called Dot and gotten her to call off the search and wipe all traces of his car from their records. Alas, he couldn't do that while she was there...it would have raised far too many questions.

"So where did you learn to drive like that?" Mia asked before a blush spread across her cheeks when she realized that she was still holding onto his arm and yanked it back like she had grabbed hot pan. "Sorry." She apologised, even if deep down she was a little disappointed that she had let go so quick.

"Here and there." The Spartan answered cryptically unbothered by her suddenly retracting her hand as they passed the golf course.

"Well, aren't we mysterious." She teased coquettishly as they drove across the intersection and continued down Carson Street.

"Not really." Six disagreed as they headed down the road passing by many establishments along the way. "I'd just like to retain a few secrets from you." He added as he gave her a hard look making her blood run cold when she caught onto what he was implying.

"I...umm..."

"Don't lie very well?" Six answered for her making the brunette swallow a lump in her throat.

"Sorry." Mia apologised. "We weren't trying to pry. It's just..."She trailed off trying to think of the right words before she decided just to come clean with him. "Dom likes to know who he's racing against is all." When he said nothing and concentrated on the road, she suddenly felt extremely anxious. "You have the right to be angry..."

"If I was angry, you'd know."

"You're not?" She asked slowly. If it had been the other way around, she would've been and rightfully so. "Wait, how did you know that Jesse brought up your profile?"

"You just told me." The Spartan answered making her look like a deer caught in the headlights.

"No, no, no. That doesn't...no, you said you'd like to keep a few secrets from me." Mia pointed out to him.

"Regarding your previous question." He said making her blink owlishly when she caught on to what he meant.

"...I'm an idiot." Mia swore as she covered her face with her palms in embarrassment when she realized that she had just ratted Dom and Jesse out; unaware that Six had already known that they had read the profile that Dot had created for the Jericho Reach persona.

Jericho merely grunted slightly as they headed deeper into the city before they spotted a multi-story carpark. Driving up the ramp and going to the third level, he parked in one of the empty spots that overlooked the city and turned the engine off leaving him and Mia sitting alone in the shadows.

"We should keep a low profile." The Spartan said softly as he looked out at the city below. In the distance he could hear sirens blaring downtown, no doubt still trying to round up the other street racers or maybe it was something completely unrelated. That last thought soured his mood. He should have been out there patrolling the city, eliminating the gangs that smuggled in the narcotics as well as dealing with the Trans that operated in Orange County...which was not too far from where he currently was.

"Good call." Mia's voice pulled him from his thoughts to see her smiling at him, though there was something different about her smile that he couldn't put his finger. "Assuming of course that is the only reason you brought us here."

"..."

"I told you we lost the cops a while back." Mia reminded him. "If I didn't know any better, I could easily be led to believe that you brought me here for specific reason." She continued deciding to have a little bit of fun with the stoic Jericho, anything to see him crack a smile. "Most men, and some girls for that matter, would take advantage of this situation."

"I'm not most men."

"Really?" She feigned curiosity. "Then tell me Jericho, what sort of man are you?"

"Complicated."

"Is that so?" Mia smirked. "And what exactly is it that makes you so complicated?" She asked cracking a smile as Jericho turned back to look at her, the moonlight revealing a part of his scarred face. "Or are you just trying to be as mysterious as possible?"

"What would be the point?" Six asked rhetorically as he looked down at the much smaller woman who was resting her cheek in her palm and had a twinkle in her eye. "You already know everything."

"Not everything." Mia whispered, the tranquillity and silence of the car creating a very intimate ambience. "Only what was in your file." She told him getting a small nod from him but otherwise kept his thoughts to himself as he looked away. "I'm sorry about what happened to your parents..."

"It was a long time ago." Six said automatically. Besides, technically it hadn't even happened yet.

"Doesn't mean that it gets any easier." Mia countered knowingly speaking from experience. "My mother died when I was a baby and my father died when I was ten years old, but I still had Dom." She decided to leave out Jakob just in case he began asking her questions about her estranged brother. "I can't imagine what it was like having no one after..."

"I wasn't alone." Six told her, his thoughts lingering on Beta Company, his brothers, and sisters...those that he considered his family after losing everything he had ever known. A sentiment that they all shared, they had all lost their families, their homes because of the Covenant. That pain, that shared loss allowed them to form a connection that words simply could not describe; and when they needed him the most he was nowhere to be seen.

Failure. That would be the appropriate term to use to describe him. That was all he ever seemed to, either failing himself or the people that he cared about. His family back on Jericho VII, Beta Company during Operation: TORPEDO, Noble Team back on Reach, and Kurt and Gamma Company amidst the Onyx Conflict. He was a bad omen, and anyone that got close to him was fated to die.

"Jericho?" Blinking when he heard Mia trying to get his attention. Turning his head to look at her, he saw her staring back with a sympathetic look. "Are you okay? I think you zoned out on me there for a sec."

"Just thinking."

"Ah, no wonder it took you so long." Mia grinned at a flat stare from the Spartan. "Want to talk about it?"

"I should get you home." Six ignored the question and powered up the Challenger, missing the frown that Mia gave him when she realized that he had no intention of answering her. Although, she couldn't really blame him.

While it felt like she had known him his entire life after reading his dossier, he knew nothing about her; and the feeling that she was getting from him he had no desire too; which admittingly did disappoint her. Still, that didn't mean that didn't mean that she wouldn't try and get to know him a little better.

Reversing out of the parking spot, Six headed down the inclines and back onto the street and followed the directions the GPS was pointed him after Mia gave him her address. The drive across Los Angeles was quiet as the two sat in silence, which the Spartan appreciated, alas nothing lasted forever.

"You know I never apologised for today." The silence was broken as Mia suddenly spoke up. Looking at her from the corner of his eye, he saw her staring at him. "With what happened with Vince, I mean." She clarified for him. "His mentality is to shoot first and ask questions later."

"Not your fault." Six brushed off her apology. "I shouldn't have antagonized him." He added referring to the gay comment that had really been the catalyst for their fight; if you could even call it that.

"Trust me, Vince was going to fight you regardless." Mia told him. "You're not the first person that he's tangled with and you won't be the last. He did the same thing with Brian...um, that's the guy at the race that ruined his car." She informed him, unaware that he knew exactly who Brian was. " He does it every single time another man comes to the store because...

"He harbours a sexual attraction for you?" Six bluntly finished for her making her laugh.

"I wouldn't have phrased it quite like that...but, yeah." She confirmed as she nibbled her bottom lip to hold back her laughter. "I've known him ever since he met Dom in the third grade and he's never really grown up. He means well, but he's never really gotten past that macho, child-like mentality, and thinks that he has to pick on the biggest guy in the playground to prove that he's a man." Mia said shaking her head having dealt with his shit for twenty years now.

"Although, I think he's learned his lesson thanks to you."

"Was he injured?"

"Only his ego, I think." Mia replied, "Don't worry, I'm sure he'll think twice before tangling with you again after the beating you gave him."

"I wasn't."

"Of course, silly me." Mia rolled her eyes playfully as she turned back to look at him. "Just what was I thinking? Please, I humbly beg for your forgiveness." She teased getting a grunt out of Jericho.

"You do know it's not a crime to smile every now and again, right?"

"Best not take any chances." Six retorted making her smile grow as he followed the route that the GPS had set out for him.

After around twenty, twenty-five minutes, Six and Mia finally reached Kensington Road to see that the street was overwhelmed by the cars from the race that had all gone back Mia's to party and get smashed off their faces.

Pulling up outside of her house they both heard the music blaring out of every crack and crevice. Through the windows they saw the house was packed solid as no one wasted any time and getting the party started as they drunk and danced the night away. It seemed that her absence, and maybe Dom's too considering she couldn't see his car anywhere, did little to stop them all from celebrating.

"Someone's popular."

"It always is after the race." Mia informed him as she looked at the drinkers that had gathered outside of her house and sitting on the steps.

"This is normal?"

"Pretty much." She nodded as she looked back at Jericho. "What, don't you ever just cut loose and enjoy yourself?"

"No."

"Why not?" She teased the retired soldier. "Worried that you might actually enjoy yourself?" She questioned playfully as she looked up at him.

"Never had the time." Six told her candidly, seeing no reason to lie to her. Spartans didn't get shore leave...or at least they didn't during the war. Now that the Spartan-IVs had come onto the scene it was pretty much mandatory to be given time off to recuperate since they were not raised in the same manner that the previous generations were. Alas, since he worked for ONI and as far as everyone knew had died on Reach, he didn't get that luxury.

"Well, what about now?" She asked him. "Do you have the time now?"

"Not really my scene, Mia." Six declined her offer.

"Not even for one beer?" She probed hoping to persuade him otherwise. "Sorry, I forgot...one glass of water? You don't drink beer." She teased referring to their conversation earlier that day. "Surely you have time for that."

"Maybe another day." While he had intention of seeing her again, he saw no reason to be rude and simply tell her no.

"You know, I might have to hold you to that." Mia told him before she took her seatbelt off and leaned over and kissed his cheek softly and for the first time in his life, Six could honestly say that he was dumbfounded as he suddenly felt an unfamiliar feeling overcome him.

"Thanks for the lift home." Mia said as she pulled back smirking when she noticed his jaw tightening, the first reaction she had managed to get out of him.

"No problem." Six responded as he tried to compose himself. "Goodnight, Mia."

"Night, Jericho." Mia smiled goodbye, disappointed that he was going so soon before she opened the door and got out of the car. As soon as she closed the door, she watched as the Challenger pulled away and headed down the road and turned off Kensington Road and disappeared into the concrete jungle.

Sighing quietly to herself as she watched Jericho disappear into the night, she turned around and walked up the garden path greeting the people on the steps of her home with a friendly smile as she passed them and headed up the steps and went into her house where she was immediately tackled by Letty and hugged tightly.

"You had me worried girl!" Letty exclaimed as she hugged her tightly. "I thought something happened to you."

"I'm fine, Letty." Mia assured her as she happily returned the hug of her childhood friend before pulling away.

"Well, where the hell were you then?" Letty pretty much demanded as they pulled away from one another. "The crowd went nuts when the cops showed up and you were nowhere to be seen."

"I...um, got a lift by Jericho." Mia told her, being conservative with the truth.

"Gigantor?" Letty sounded surprised before she began to check her out. "You still seem to be walking fine...guessing you didn't get laid tonight?" She commented making Mia roll her eyes. "Where is the big guy anyway?" She asked really wanting to see what it was that he had underneath the hood of his Challenger after seeing that display not too long ago.

"He's gone home I guess." Mia responded shrugging her shoulders. "And just for the record, a man and a woman can spend time together without screwing each other." She told her discreetly so that no one would hear their conversation.

"Do I hear the hint of frustration in your tone?" Letty grinned poking fun at her childhood friend getting a glare from her.

"No." Mia blurted out and clicked her tongue in annoyance when Letty smirked at her.

"So, what did you two even get up too?" Letty questioned as she folded her arms over her chest. "I mean, if you weren't fucking him..."

"Fleeing from the cops mostly." Mia quickly cut her off. "They didn't stand the chance of catching us...Dom was lucky that Jericho went easy on him tonight."

"Listen, I get that you like him and all..."

"We were going over two hundred miles per hour, and we were nowhere near to reaching its top speed." Mia informed Letty who looked sceptical and gave a very Letty-like response.

"Bullshit."

"If you don't want to believe me then that's up to you." Mia shrugged. "But I'm telling you that Challenger of his is something else. Not just the engine either, inside looks state of the art with an entire digitalized conversion."

"Digital?" Letty sounded affronted hearing that. " Ergh, all the respect I had for him is gone. You don't mess with perfection."

"Trust me, if you saw it, you wouldn't be so quick to judge." Mia insisted remembering how she had been blown away by the interior. "It's completely state-of-the-art to the extent that it almost seems futuristic."

"That so?" Letty said intrigued. "Maybe he still has some contacts in the military that outfitted it for him." She suggested.

"Maybe." Mia concurred knowing that it was certainly possible taking his past into account. "Or maybe he did it all himself."

"Don't really peg him as a grease monkey..."

"We didn't think that he knew how to race either."

"Touché." Letty concurred before grumbling. "Damn it! Now I really want to see that baby for myself." She complained, her interest peaked.

"Well, you better get in line." Mia told her. "Somehow I expect that Dom's going to challenge him again for a rematch...and to put it bluntly I can't see him winning."

"Don't count us out just yet." Letty was optimistic. "With a few tweaks I'm sure we can bridge the gap...maybe upgrade the NOS if things become desperate."

"If you had seen the power of the Challenger, you would not be so confident." Mia informed her as she peered into the front room to see Leon sitting on the armchair with his arms around a pair of giggling blondes, Jesse was talking to a dark-haired girl, and Vince was drinking in the corner with a group of girls. "Where's Dom?" She asked upon noticing that her brother was nowhere to be seen.

"I don't know." While she didn't let it show, Mia heard the worry in Letty's tone. "No one has seen him since he bailed."

"Has anyone looked?"

"Obviously." Letty responded as she sat at the bottom of the stairs.

"You think the cops grabbed him?" Mia asked suddenly becoming worried by her brother's absence. She had already lost Jakob; she didn't want to lose Dom as well. As if the universe had decided to give her a lucky break, the door behind her opened to reveal Dom standing there. "Thank god, we thought something had happened to you." Mia said hugging her brother happy that he was alright.

"Where the fuck have you been?!" Letty growled angry that he had made her worry so much. "I was looking everywhere for you."

"So you do worry about me?" Dom grinned getting a glare from his girlfriend which he thought just made her more sexy than usual. Spotting Leon flirting with the blondes from the race his good mood soured. "Did the others help?"

"What do you think?" Letty snorted at the very idea of them helping. "You know what they're like when they think they've got the chance of getting some pussy." She then nodded at Mia. "And she just got dropped off by Gigantor."

"He came?"

"Nah, Mia don't put out."

"Must you be so vulgar?" Mia asked rhetorically wrinkling her nose. However, before she could say anything else the front door opened up to reveal Brian of all people standing there.

"What's he doing here?" Letty asked disgruntled to see the buster standing there.

"I invited him." Dom told her as Brian stepped into the house. "If it weren't for him the cops would have caught me."

"I suppose he can stay then." Letty smirked instantly setting Brian at ease not knowing the reception that he would receive from Dom's crew. "You know Vince isn't going to like this..."

"I don't give a damn what Vince thinks right now." Dom retorted angry that it was a stranger that had come to his rescue rather than his own crew, scratch that than his best friend that he had known since the third grade was nowhere to be seen. "And what do you mean that Jericho dropped you off?" He changed the subject as he looked at his sister. "What was you doing in his car?"

"Just getting to know him a little better." Mia told him but picked her words carefully since Brian was there. "And just for the record, Jericho went easy on you tonight...both of you." She said as he looked at Dom and Brian.

"Which I'm still sceptical about." Letty muttered crossing her arms.

"What do you mean?" Dom grilled wondering just what the hell she was talking about and what exactly Letty was sceptical about.

"Jericho headed down Lakewood and was going two hundred and twenty-five miles per hours and would've gone faster if I hadn't asked him to stop." She chose to leave out the part where she and grabbed his arm.

"Seriously?" Brian spoke up for the first time since he had entered the house, and when she nodded, he continued. "Shit."

"Now I really want that rematch." Dom grinned, excited to race Jericho again and see if Mia was bullshitting him or not. "And I guess I owe him one for getting you to safety." He added looking at Mia. Anyone that kept his family safe was alright in his books.

He had already been planning on heading to Jericho's to hand over his Mazda, after all he was a man of his word, but now that he had learnt that kept his sisters safe, he was indebted to him; and he fully intended on paying his debts.

"Lucky for some." Dom heard Brian grumble pulling him from his thoughts regarding Jericho.

"That's what you get for playing with the big boys, Buster." Letty smirked at his misfortune. "And why you don't bet with pink slips unless..."

"He's not talking about losing it to Jericho." Dom informed her, cutting her off. "It was blown up after we had a run-in with Johnny."

"Johnny?"

"Yeah." Dom confirmed to Mia with a stern nod.

"What the hell happened and where the hell is your car?" Letty grilled her boyfriend, pissed that she hadn't been there.

"It's a long story." Dom said short and sweet as he narrowed his eyes at Leon from across the room who had finally noticed that he was back and paled considerably. "I'll be right back." He told them as he left them standing in by the staircase and stalked across the room and over to where Leon was sitting.

After dropping Mia at her place after they had escaped the cops, Six headed back into the city making sure to stay off the main roads until he reached the freeway and headed home. Taking a deep breath, he was relieved that the race was over, and he had held up his side of the deal...even if Dom had expressed his desire to race him again to win his car back.

Personally, he had no desire to race him or anyone else for that matter ever again. It seemed pointless in the grand scheme of things considering there was more important things that he could be doing, that and none of the racers there posed a threat to him. It was the equivalent of a motorbike racing a pushbike.

Six was suddenly pulled from his thoughts when a ringing sound resonated inside of the Challenger. Looking at the monitor in the centre of the dashboard that lit up and displayed the emblem of Noble Team, he brought his arm up and tapped the screen to answer the call.

"A young and attractive female just invited you into her home and your response is to simply drive away?" Auntie Dot grilled the moment that he answered the call.

"I have things to do." Six retorted not at all surprised that his partner had heard his and Mia's conversation considering that they had built and upgraded the Challenger together, with a bit of help from a third party. With the cameras and sensors that were installed, she not only heard but had been watching their conversation back home.

"Like what?" She asked, although to the outside listener it sounded more like an interrogation. "This was the perfect opportunity for you to have some actual human interaction for once instead of spending your time brooding atop rooftops."

"I don't brood."

"Right," Dot drawled out clearly unconvinced. "And I'm not a state-of-the-art artificial intelligence...oh, wait."

"Don't remind me." Six shot back as he drove down a side alley. God, there were times when he wished that she was still a Dumb Artificial Intelligence that had as much personality as a brick wall.

"Is that acrimony I detect, Lieutenant?" Dot questioned inquisitively. "No matter." she backtracked to what they were previously talking about. "You didn't have to stay long and who knows you may have even enjoyed yourself."

"Doubtful."

"You'll never know until you try." She encouraged even if she knew it would fall on deaf ears.

"I'm a Spartan."

"But still human, contrary to what you might believe." She retorted as he exited the alley and headed back onto the main road as he headed towards the freeway. "You need human interaction..."

"I work alone."

"Need I remind you that you're not working." Dot pointed out to him.

"I'm always working."

"Which is exactly why need a vice..."

"Kinda contradicts what a Spartan is..." Six interrupted her only to be cut off himself.

"Hasn't stopped you from going on a violent rampage." Dot shot back coldly, her tone becoming reminiscent of her previous Dumb version as he sped past the traffic and headed onto the freeway.

"Not what I would call it."

"And what exactly would you call it?" She questioned.

"My job."

"Your job is to hunt down terrorists, not petty criminals." She reminded him tactfully before pausing. " "I've been in your head, Lieutenant. I know that you want to change the future but because of your actions there is the possibility that future generations will cease to exist..."

"You want me to turn a blind eye?"

"No. I know that would be impossible for you" Dot said knowingly. "It would be easier getting blood out of a stone. You have got to stop this rampage of yours. You want to continue being a vigilante, fine do it to your hearts content. However, we are in a precarious situation. Every choice that we make will have huge ramifications for the future, both good and bad. What happens if one of the people that you kill happens to be one of your ancestors?"

"If we're in the past."

"It's the twenty-first century." She pointed out the obvious.

"But who says it's ours?" Six countered as he weaved through the traffic that was leaving Los Angeles.

"Are you suggesting the multiverse theory?" Dot questioned. "As the name implies it's only a theory, it's never been proven."

"They said the same about time travel."

"Until the creation of the Shaw-Fujikawa Translight Engine perhaps." Dot stated, disagreeing with her partner. "The drive manipulates spacetime..."

"I know what it does." Six cut her off as he concentrated on the road.

"Which is why time travel is not out of the realms of possibility." She continued pretending that she hadn't been interrupted. "Plus, in conjunction with the anomaly we encountered at New Carthage." She said getting a nod from the Spartan. Even after a year of being in the twenty-first century, he still had no idea what had happened.

It had been a simple mission to eliminate a high-ranking target of the URF. Next thing he knew the ground started rumbling as seismic activity suddenly went off the charts as buildings started collapsing and people started screaming.

"Any progress on Flass?" Six asked purging his thoughts regarding his final mission for ONI.

"I have."

"Have everything ready for me when I get back." The Spartan told her as he brought his arm up and extend his finger. "Six, out." He finished ending the call and drove off into the darkness leaving Los Angeles behind.

And cut! Finally, here is the next chapter of The Furious Wolf. Sorry for taking so long but I have written and deleted this chapter so many times I've lost count. Originally, I was going to have it play out exactly the same as last time with Six taking out Johnny and his crew, but I've decided that I don't want them to know his civilian persona. They will however be meeting the Ghost soon.

Furthermore, I thought that I would write a chapter with Six and Mia, even if Six didn't really engage her in conversation and came across quite standoffish. Like I said, this version is not as friendly and warm as he was in the previous version hence why he is not cracking jokes and smiling all the time, but in time he might slowly change and gradually become more human.

But it will take time.

Also, in this version Six really has no intention of celebrating with Dom and the others hence why he never went in the house after Mia invited him in. Will he go to the barbeque? Yes, after a lot of convincing.
