Chapter 11
The Company arrived at an old, abandoned farmhouse that was in ruins.
Rin took a breath as she looked around her brows furrowed with worry.
"We'll camp here for the night. Fili, Kili, look after the ponies. Make sure you stay with them." Thorin ordered them out to them.
Gandalf looked at the old abandoned house. "A farmer and his family used to live here."
"Oin, Gloin."
"Aye?" Gloin questioned looking over at his king.
"Get a fire going."
"Right you are."
"I think it would be wiser to move on. We could make for the Hidden Valley." Gandalf said, looking over at Thorin.
"I have told you already, I will not go near that place." Thorin snapped in anger.
Rin pursed her lips together in worry. How could Thorin be so against the people that would have raised her. She swallowed the lump in her throat rather concerned.
"Why not? The elves could help us. We could get food, rest, and advice." Gandalf said, trying to get Thorin to agree with the whole idea.
"I do not need their advice."
"We have a map that we cannot read. Lord Elrond could help us."
"Help? A dragon attacks Erebor, what help came from the Elves? Orcs plunder Moria, desecrate our sacred halls, the Elves looked on and did nothing. You ask me to seek out the very people who betrayed my grandfather and betrayed my father."
"You are neither of them. I did not give you that map and key for you to hold on to the past."
"I did not know that they were yours to keep."
Gandalf stomped off angrily leaving everyone behind in the company.
"Everything alright? Gandalf, where are you going?" Bilbo asked.
"To seek the company of the only one around here who's got any sense."
"Who's that?"
"Myself, Mr. Baggins! I've had enough of dwarves for one day."
"Come on, Bombur, we're hungry." Thorin said, ignoring the fact that Gandalf had walked away.
Rin let out a breath shaking her head lightly.
"Is he coming back?" Bilbo asked Balin rather concerned.
Balin looked back rather unsure if Gandalf would be back.
Rin let out a soft breath and patted her horse lightly. She clicked her tongue before quickly getting on her horse.
"Where are you going?" Thorin questioned more as he looked at the Ranger woman.
Rin looked at Thorin with slightly narrowed eyes. "Something doesn't feel right." She told Thorin. "And you can't tell me you can't feel that something is off. Gandalf is right."
Throin gripped his hands tightly at his sides in anger. "We will not go to the Hidden Valley."
Rin rolled her eyes and clicked her tongue making her horse move.
"Where are you going?!"
"Away from here. You don't heed the warning, but I am." She said as she gently kneed her horse to move before she was well on her way away from the dwarves. She gripped the reigns in her hands tightly. She didn't like the idea that Thorin was being so stubborn. But she was just as stubborn. She wasn't about to lose her life because Thorin was being bull headed.
Her brows furrowed as she looked around for Gandalf. She bit her lower lip in worry as she looked around. She continued on her path in hunting for Gandalf. She noticed a mass of gray and knew right away it was indeed Gandalf. She clicked her tongue and made her horse move faster to keep up with the pace of the angry wizard.
Gandalf turned his head when he heard hooves on the ground. "Gilrin." He said using her full name.
Rin bit her lip softly knowing that was her name.
"You should be with the rest of them."
Rin shook her head lightly. "No. Throin is too stubborn to even be around."
Gandalf let out a breath knowing what she had meant.
"I'm going to stay with you if that's alright?" She asked softly.
Gandalf let out a soft breath and nodded his head.
