Day 1: Cooking Together
Aki stared at the recipe in front of her and sighed dramatically. She wanted to bake a tarte aux mirabelles for a festival that Sherry really liked, but the recipe seemed so confusing. "So first I need to make the dough and then...," she murmured quietly, only to sigh again.
"Why are you sighing so much?", she heard the voice of her girlfriend as she entered their shared apartment. Aki looked shockingly at the clock that was hanging on the wall. Four hours had passed and Aki wasn't even done with step one of the tarte. "I- uh…," she began just as Sherry entered the kitchen. "Ah you're baking something?", Sherry questioned with a slight smile on her lips. "Well… remember that festival you told me about?", she began and Sherry just nodded while she was stealing a Mirabelle from the bowl Aki had prepared. "Well I wanted to make that tarte," she explained and handed the recipe to Sherry. "I'm just terrible at baking, so I haven't even finished step one," Aki murmured quietly but Sherry heard every word and had to laugh slightly. "Well then," Sherry began as she washed her hands, "let's bake it together."
Aki smiled brightly and watched Sherry put all the ingredients for the dough together. It seemed so easy when Sherry did it. Aki was preparing the Mirabelles by cutting them into half and adding sugar to them. In the meantime Sherry prepared something that resembled a pudding, but according to Sherry it was crème anglaise. Now they just had to put all things together into a round form and bake it. "See, it's not that difficult," Sherry said as she placed the round form into the oven. "Just because you actually know what you're doing," Aki said as she began cleaning the utensils they had used. She soon felt the hands of her girlfriend around her. "Don't worry, you're better at other things," Sherry murmured into Aki's shoulder.
In the end, Aki was glad she didn't begin to bake the cake alone. Baking together is so much more fun, especially if it ends in a back hug.
A/N: Not really "cooking" together but rather baking, but close enough I guess.
