Chapter 1
The 100 – smart and good decisions made on Halloween
Bellamy Blake and Clarke Griffin have been frenemies and rivals since they first crossed paths at the prestigious Arkadia college they both attend however that is about the change. It's Halloween one of the most powerful times of year and bad choice are about to be made that will set events in motion that are going to pulling both Bellamy and Clarke together.
It's Halloween which is my favourite time of the year so I wanted to wright a bellarke centric Halloween fic which is what you have here. The idea is that Bellamy and Clarke are both the smart kids in the horror movie and you'll see how they react to the scary Halloween stuff.
Also fair warning this is not going to be a fic any supper Lexa fans are going to enjoy.
Bellamy Blake
Sighing Bellamy gave himself a slight slap to the side of the face in order to keep his concentration on what he was doing, doing paper work was a really boring task but it was part of his job so he needed to do it and do it well. When Bellamy had gone after this fellowship in the historical department of Arkadia he'd understood the same as anyone that it would probably entail doing a lot of grunt work but he hadn't quite realised how much there would be.
Professor Sydney who was effectively his boss wasn't exactly the type of person to send the people working under her to go out and get coffee or anything like that but she was definitely the type of person to get someone to do her paper work to the point all she would have to do is sign it. It was a drag to be sure but Bellamy always tried to remind himself he and the others who had won the five places had beaten out something like 400 other applicants so he should take advantage of the position he was in whatever the circumstances.
After all it wasn't all bad Bellamy mused as he continued shifting his way through the paperwork, he did get paid for this which was a definite bonus for someone like him and it wasn't all mind-numbingly boring. Thinking about this Bellamy looked up from the desk he was sitting at and across the mid-sized research room he was currently in at Finn, who was going over some new artefacts that had come into the department and getting them ready for Professor Sydney to see too tomorrow. That was definitely the better job in Bellamy's mind and the one he would much rather be doing but sadly Finn had won rock, paper, scissors so he had ended up doing the job neither of them wanted.
Giving another frustrated sigh Bellamy turned back to the paper work he really wanted to get this over and done with so he could get out of here. It was Halloween after all which was one of his favourite times of the year and there were at least a dozen themed parties planned for tonight he knew of and the sooner he finished here the sooner he could go and get ready. He didn't have much spare money to spend on things like costumes but Bellamy felt like he had figured something good out and he was eager to see what girls thought of it once they saw him.
With this in mind Bellamy redoubled his efforts to get through Professor Sydney's paper work, it worked too because after what felt like a short time he found he was on the last bit of paper. Smiling a triumphant smile Bellamy started ticking the various boxes all ready to leave a stack of paperwork ready for Professor Sydney to sign and see to tomorrow in the spot she had told him to leave it and then go get his evening and then night started, however just as he was finishing Finn called him over.
Bellamy couldn't help but frown at being delayed at getting out of here again but all the same he finished off the last few lines on the paper and then got up. 'What's the problem Finn,' he asked walking over and standing next to Finn who himself was standing at one part of a large table looking over several of the items that had come in hoping he could get whatever this was handled quickly.
'Look at this;' Finn asked gesturing at an open wooden box right in front of him 'this was part of one of the estate sales the department bought up.'
'Ok,' Bellamy nodded looking down at the box which looked to have had three locks keeping it shut before Finn pried it open which was something he shouldn't have done but before he could tell him off for that what was in the box drew Bellamy's attention. It was some kind of book shaped package wrapped in old looking brown paper and rusty barbed wire of all things that wasn't what really drew Bellamy's attention though, it was the writing that had been scribbled everywhere on the paper. For some reason Bellamy couldn't understand someone had written things like don't open it or go away all over the packages surface in a dozen different languages in a rather determined kind of handwriting.
'Wow,' Bellamy said breathing out a deep breath not sure what to make of this but his curiosity was definitely peeked 'what's the story with this, where exactly did they find this thing.'
'Yeah,' Finn nodded 'I looked that up, turns out some family found this box in a wall with a couple of other things when they were getting a dead relatives house to resell.'
'Really,' Bellamy smiled intrigued by this information 'this could have belonged to their relative or it could have been hidden away for years in that wall before their relatives time.'
'I was thinking that,' Finn said grinning a daring kind of grin 'so what do you think Bellamy.'
'What do you mean what I think,' Bellamy asked razing an eye brow looking up from the package to face Finn now challenging him 'I think it's not on either of us to take this any further.'
'O come on Bellamy,' Finn pouted grinning slightly 'you've got to be curious, I'm sure Sydney wouldn't mind if we opened this thing up a bit further.'
'Really,' Bellamy countered rolling his eyes as he spoke finding it a little hard to believe he was actually having this conversation 'one Finn I'm not going to risk my fellowship on taking that chance and two I'm not about to open something that actually says don't open it on it.' Bellamy made sure to etherize these last few words to make sure to get his point across it wasn't like he believed in curses or anything like that but he also believed tempting fate was never a good idea so he had no plans on doing anything like that, plus the first reason was definitely a concern.
'Didn't take you for a scaredy cat,' Finn mocked grinning obviously trying to gode Bellamy into going along with him 'are you too scared to see what this is all about.'
'Think whatever you want to think Finn,' Bellamy shrugged stepping away from him now as Finn eased the package out of the box moving back towards his desk 'but I'm finished with my work and I've got much better things planned.' With that he picked up his bag and coat from where he had left them and started walking out of the room ignoring Finn as he called after him it was true he did have better things planned, going to Halloween party's easily beat getting involved with whatever Finn as about to do.
Leaving the research room Bellamy walked a short distance down several corridors and then he moved from the main entrance of the historical department buildings main doors and in to the nicely cool evening air. Stopping where he was Bellamy closed his eyes and breathed in the fresh air glad to have gotten out of there, for a moment as he stood there Bellamy considered going back inside and to Finn but he decided against it. The reasons he had come up with were valid, doing what Finn was about to do would be risking his fellowship and he did have a much better option of what to do tonight plus he had seen enough scary films to know what Finn was about to do was a bad idea.
Giving a resigned sigh Bellamy opened his eyes and started walking forward across the courtyard the historical department building opened up on to walking in the direction of the car park and his car. Arkadia university wasn't exactly ivy league but it was close so the campus was a rather sprawling mass of buildings some of them actually rather old, apparently Arkadia had started as an art school for girls in the 1700s and grown from there. Arkadia was the kind of place Bellamy had dreamed of going as a kid but had never thought he'd be so lucky to actually go to but thanks to his scholarship and a bunch of other things he actually managed to get here.
Smiling as he thought about this Bellamy moved across the court yard moving on to the grass that was beyond it and then into the three story car park that was after the grass. This mourning Bellamy had been lucky in terms of parking so he reached his car right away and getting in its plush but warn interior he got ready to set off, Bellamy's car was old but also high end. A few years ago one of the rich ass holes Bellamy's mum worked for had been getting rid of one of his sports cars that wasn't quite fashionable enough for the man and rather than sell it for scrap he had decided to do something different. The man had held a mini auction amongst his house hold staff to see who would get the car and Bellamy's mum had won the auction and she had in turn given the car to him when he had gotten in to Arkadia.
Pulling out of the carpark and moving on to the small road that cut through the campus Bellamy passed by the historical department building and again he thought about Finn but this time he only thought about how he had made the right choice. He'd grown up really poor so there was no reason for Bellamy to risk anything just to satisfy his curiosity, putting this idea out of his mind now Bellamy concentrated on the road ready to get home and change for tonight.
After an uneventful drive Bellamy found himself walking into the flat he shared with his two best friends at Arkadia Murphy and Miller just in time to see the two of them flinging several water balloons out there flats small window. Unfazed by this Bellamy just walked in and shut the door moving over to the kitchen area and getting himself a drink while he just watched Miller and Murphy high five each other and laugh triumphant laughs.
'Do I want to know,' Bellamy asked holding back a smile as his two friends turned around and saw, seemingly for the first time him standing there both of them now with guilty expressions on their faces.
'Probably not,' Murphy admitted shrugging slightly 'but don't worry Bellamy this Halloweens not going to be like last year.'
'Yeah,' Miller added joining in clasping his hand to his chest theatrically 'hand on heart Bellamy, besides those guys had it coming.'
'Good to know,' Bellamy nodded freely smiling finishing his water 'now I'll go get ready and then we can all head out.' Both his friends were already wearing shirts which were the first part of the costume idea that they had all come up with so Bellamy needed to get ready himself so they could do the rest of their idea. Bellamy was eager to do this so he was back quickly ready to get started dressed in a similar white shirt to the others as well as black genes 'alright,' he said clapping his hands together smiling 'let's do this.'
'Alright,' Murphy smiled picking up several red bottles off the floor and putting them down on the cracked wood of their kitchen table 'who's first then.'
Bellamy didn't even hesitate once Murphy had said this he grabbed a bottle of fake blood dumped some on his head to start with and then started spreading it across his shirt seeing him do this both Murphy and Miller started doing the same. Both Murphy and Miller were fans of Halloween the same way Bellamy was so they had all wanted to dress up as something before they went out partying tonight but money was tight so they had needed to get inventive. The idea was if they all covered them self's in fake blood they could claim to be any number of things so this would work as costumes for them all tonight and make it much easier to flirt with girls or guys in Millers case.
'How do I look,' Bellamy asked putting the bottle of fake blood down after a few minutes of covering himself in it wiping some of the stuff out of his eyes as he spoke.
'You look horrifying,' Miller grinned rubbing a bit of fake blood into his buzz cut scalp and then putting his own bottle down 'I think you'll probably really scare a few people.'
'Well we both know as long as he scares one special person Bellamy will be happy,' Murphy remarked streaking his bottle across his shirt as he spoke 'in fact I bet you've been thinking about her all day.'
'I have no idea who you're talking about Murphy,' Bellamy said rolling his eyes as he spoke, he knew full well who Murphy was alluding to but he wasn't about to encourage him. Both him and Miller already had enough theories about there being something between him and the princess without him giving them more to work with.
'O really Bell,' Miller remarked joining in now 'you seriously telling us you are not hoping to see Clarke Griffin tonight so you can have a go at her and start one of your little spirited arguments.'
'That princess is a stuck up bitch,' Bellamy sneered 'what is wrong with the fact I like to knock her down a few pegs when I see her,' he was getting annoyed now and he didn't want to start Halloween off like this. He and Clarke Griffin had been having a back and forth for almost two years now ever since she had come to Arkadia after he had completed his first year, he'd been touring some of the newbies around the historical department and well that had been the beginning. He'd been trying to look smart so Bellamy had dressed up a bit wearing some of the nicest clothes he owned which were old and a bit warn but still good, he shouldn't have even bothered for all the good it did though.
To begin with the princess had been one of the best people in the group he had been taking round she'd asked a lot of questions that had really needed Bellamy to think but then she'd noticed his clothes. Out of nowhere Clarke had asked if he was here on a scholarship and Bellamy had been too shocked by the question to answer right away so some guys had been listening in took that as an answer and started mocking him. After that it had been clear to Bellamy what kind of girl the princess was so he had made a point of putting her down a few times after that and that had in turn sparked a mutual hatred between them which continued to this day.
'That's not wrong Bellamy,' Murphy smiled in response to Bellamy 'it's just you seem to really enjoy finding ways to spend time with that girl.'
'Yeah Bell,' Miller said piling on 'face it your just a school yard boy pulling the hair of a girl you like.'
'None of that is true,' Bellamy hissed turning on his foot and moving in the direction of their flats doors leading the way out, the sooner they all got stuff started the better.
Clarke griffin
Staring into her bedroom mirror Clarke carefully applied her make-up there by putting the finishing touches on her whole get up for this Halloween. Clarke loved Halloween, it was an opportunity to be really creative in her mind which was something she loved doing, she loved creating art and this was what she was doing when she dressed up in Clarkes mind.
This year Clarke had decided to dress as a sexy fairy, she'd found a fairy dress that showed a lot of leg and left a good bit of boob exposed and then added a few things to it like fake flowers and just a whole lot of sparkly stuff. As well as the dress Clarke and tried out a bunch of different things like hair styles and shoes so she got everything just right and looking at herself in her bedroom mirror now Clarke knew it had been well worth the effort.
Getting out of her room into the flats living room Clarke saw her roommate Raven who was dressed as a sexy witch pacing back and forth while she chatted on her phone to someone. Not paying this conversation much attention Clarke sat down on one of the room's sofas and just looked out the flats large windows waiting for Raven to finish with her call so they could both get out of here and go meet up with the others. There was a Halloween party happening at the sorority one of their friends Harper was a part of, they had both been invited along with others months ago as thanks for helping set some of the stuff up and it was most likely going to be a lot of fun there.
Thinking this over Clarke continued to look out the flats windows at the view they had of the city of Polis which Arkadia was a big part of. This flat was really something with just the view but it had all kinds of other things that made it a great place to live as well it had a lot of space, it came with some really good utilities and the building its self-offered a lot of great extras. It was so good in fact as a student if not for her parents help she wouldn't have been able to get this place, Clarke and Raven both paid the rent but her parents had put down the security deposit for them and helped with letters and such.
This had been money well spent on her parents part in Clarke's mind from the day she and Raven had moved in they had started having some really great times in this place, when they weren't studying of course. Clarke liked to have fun the same as any girl so did Raven but neither of them had been the kind of people who didn't take their academic careers seriously, they both came from money but neither of them were stuck up about it. In fact in spite of what some people said Clarke would say her and Raven were the good kind of rich kids, yes they came from money but both of them had every intention of working for a living once they left college.
'Clarke,' Raven said all of a sudden pulling Clarke out of her thoughts.
'Yes, Raven,' Clarke said slowly looking up at her friend who was looking down at her now.
'What if I said I had an alternative plan for tonight,' Raven asked smiling mysteriously.
'I'd say this better be good,' Clarke frowned not liking the sound of this, whenever Raven started acting the way she was now things tended not to end well.
'Well Clarke,' Raven smiled speaking slowly 'we could go to the party tonight or we could go and have some spooky make believe fun with Finn.'
'What has your boyfriend done now Raven,' Clarke sighed realising it was going to be one of those times, she loved Raven really she did she was one of Clarkes best friends but for such a smart girl she could be really stupid sometimes. Ever since Raven and Finn had gotten together things had been a bit tense, Finn was a bit of a frill seeker and for some reason Raven just got pulled in by him and got involved with his crazy antics. Admittedly Clarke herself had gotten pulled in by Finn as well a few times now but after last time which had caused her to almost drown Clarke had made a decision that would be the last time she let her self be led into anything by Raven's crazy boyfriend.
'It won't be like last time,' Raven pouted sensing where Clarke's mind was at 'and besides that was an accident Finn didn't know what was going on with those crabs.' Clarke just gave her friend a doubtful look as way of a response so Raven kept speaking 'apparently Finn's found this spell book that was tied up in barbed wire and everything so now he's going to test it out for fun and he wants some help.'
'You can't be serious,' Clarke gasped her mouth falling open from shock this was out there even for Finn, was he actually proposing doing what it sounded like.
'OK come on Clarke,' Raven wined still pouting 'don't be like that it will be fun and besides there's no such thing as magic, it's not like anything is going to happen.'
'Yeah probably not,' Clarke admitted she was big enough to grant that this probably was all going to be just a game 'but still Raven this sounds like the beginning of a bad horror film and frankly considering I'm blond I should ovoid this sort of thing.'
Clarke grinned slightly as she said this but Raven didn't it was her friends turn to frown now 'seriously Clarke,' she said shaking her head 'are you going to be that girl, the one who things horror movies are real.'
'No,' Clarke argued, defensive now 'I'm going to be the girl who goes to a fun party rather than hang around trying to get demons to appear and bite our heads off.'
'You could bring Lexa,' Raven suggested her tone softening now 'I'm sure your girlfriend would enjoy playing around with this book of Finn's.'
'It's not just about Lexa,' Clarke sighed just coming up with excuses now 'I've been looking forward to this party for a while now also there are other people I'm hoping to see this evening.'
'O,' Raven began giggling now 'I know what that means, your hoping to lay eyes on a certain dashing ass hat aren't you Clarke.'
'I'm not going to dignify that with a response,' Clarke scowled 'I'm going to the party end of Raven, you can do whatever you like but I am not tempting fate by getting involved with more of Finn's craziness.'
'Fine Clarke,' Raven sighed finally excepting Clarke's choice 'suit yourself but I think you'll be missing out on a lot of fun.'
'So be it,' Clarke shrugged she would have ended things there but her better nature got the better of her 'I will do something though Raven,' Clarke sighed 'I'll drop you off where ever Finn's going to do this.' Clarke and Raven only had one car, well technically it was Clarke's but they treated it like something they shared so if they were each going their own ways this evening it was fair Clarke got Raven where ever she wanted to go. It would probably mean she was a little late getting to the party and meeting up with Lexa and all the others but she was sure that would be fine.
'That's really thoughtful of you Clarke,' Raven smiled 'I'll be able to get there much quicker if you drop me off.'
'You're welcome,' Clarke said getting up and moving forward gesturing for them to get going, the sooner she dropped Raven off so she could get involved with her insanity the quicker Clarke could go meet up with Lexa and really get the evening started. Halloween was a real special time of year, for this one night Clarke got to allow herself to let go a without needing to really worry what people would think because she could say it was just an act so she was eager to get that started. True she would probably worry that Raven was getting herself in to trouble but Clarke wasn't the kind of person who worried about that right now, tonight she was a fairy princess who was going to stick to the plan and have a great night with her girlfriend.
Well that was the first chapter I hope you enjoyed it, I know things might have been a bit slow but this was mostly build up next chapter will be more exciting.
