Chapter 2: Who Is This Mysterious White Wolf/The Academy's Final Physical Exam

WARNING: Trigger warnings of murder, abusive parents, running away from home, blood, graphic content, abduction, and probably other things.

Special thank you from Upplet for allowing me to use Al Catpone and the Fangpyre family! As well as Berserker88 for letting me mention Sandcat Sanchez!

Now, we must go back in time and answer the question that is burning in all of your minds. Who is this mysterious white wolf who goes by the name of Alex Moon? To start, we must go to the beginning. Alex was born twenty-five years ago to the Wolfgang family. His mother was a white wolf who had an affair with a psychopathic murderer named Logan Wolfgang, and he kidnapped her and stole his son from her before murdering her.

Logan then raised Alex with his wife Lilith and his five other sons. Each of the Wolfgang family was as equally insane as Logan. Well renowned and feared in the world of crime, the Wolfgang family was the worst of the criminal groups in Zootopia, even more fearsome than the Big regime, the Nocturnal District's Fangpyre family, the gambling thrill seeking Sandcat Sanchez, and the Al Catpone criminal organizations rolled into one!

How could they be so terrifying, you may ask? Well, the Wolfgangs were the ones who had established the black market of Zootopia. The Black Market was the forbidden zone of the city, somewhat like a red light zone. It was where animals would sell parts of themselves to be eaten by other carnivores. There were also many murders and predation incidents that happened within the crimson stone walls of the subterranean

Although many, many detestable deeds occurred within the Red Light District (located within the underground chasms and tunnels that connected the Canyonlands to the Nocturnal District), the ZPD had their paws tied, as taking down the black market would effectively cut off the meat supply that satiated a fair percentage of the predator population. As long as prey animals kept far far away from there, the police left that area of the city fairly unmonitored.

Growing up, Alex knew that something was wrong with the family he had been born into. Four years old, and he was always feeling nauseous in the house due to the smell of decomposing corpses that his brothers and parents chopped up to sell at the butcheries

No matter how many times his father and mother would hit him or yell and scream and snarl at him, Alex would not eat meat. His parents grew displeased with him and increasingly frustrated, the verbal and physical punishments getting worse and worse every time he refused. It grew to the point where Alex would sometimes go for days without eating a proper meal, and suffer through hours upon hours of verbal assault from Logan and Lilith.

As Alex sat locked in his room licking his bruises and cuts, often with nothing for nourishment except a few bottles of water, and nothing to do but read a few books such as a large dictionary animal anatomy book, and a comprehensive guide on the different illnesses and afflictions that befell mammal-kind, he sat and thought about the life he had been given. He knew his family didn't love him… this couldn't be what love was. Alex also came to the conclusion that if things continued like this, he would likely end up as one of his family's meals.

And so, on his fifth birthday, in the wee hours of the morning when the rest of his family was sleeping, Alex ran away from home. Fearful for his life, he didn't dare stop running for fear that one of the less stable carnivores might attack him, or even worse, if one of the sane ones might take him back to his parents. When he saw the back of a horse in a police officer uniform, he breathed a sigh of relief. Cops meant that he was no longer in the black market. The horse then whirled around and stared Alex in the eyes, startling him.

"What are you doing, kid?" The horse gruffly said. He then leaned in and sniffed Alex, before his eyes narrowed and he began to assume a defensive stance. "That stench! You must be one of the ankle-biter cubs from the black market! And don't you deny it! Your body reeks of meat!" The horse growled, prepared to strike at a moment's notice.

"M-my family are the monsters…" Alex whimpered, suddenly feeling the effects of the punishments he had endured now that the adrenaline of running away from home was gone. The horse paused momentarily, considering that. "Your parents are the monsters? Why is that?" He asked, curious as to what the kid meant.

Once Alex realized that someone might actually believe him, he felt a glimmer of hope. Logan had instilled within him that if he ever tried to go to anyone for help, they wouldn't believe him because he was just a kid. "They… they eat animals… and they cut them up… and… they kill others…" Alex sobbed, and his stomach roared. The poor cub was starving, and the idea of taking a bite out of him was becoming more and more appealing, even though he was trying to reject it. "F-food… I need something to eat!" Alex moaned. "GOSHA! COME QUICK!" The horse screamed.

At that moment, a Komodo dragon walked up to them, and saw the kid clutching his stomach and instantly took action. He ran up to the wolf cub and pulled out a neatly wrapped sandwich, giving it to the young pup. "Yahya, what's wrong?! Oh my goodness!" Gosha exclaimed. "Look at him! He's so skinny, and sure, he smells of meat, but if he had eaten any he would have been chomping at you." The Komodo dragon told the horse, who was apparently named Yahya and apparently also his partner. "D-does this have meat…?" Alex asked, eyeing the sandwich hungrily. The reptile looked taken aback, and shook his head. "Heavens no!" He exclaimed, and was about to say more, but Alex snatched the sandwich away from him and began to hungrily devour it.

When he was finished ravaging the sandwich, he smiled at the lizard. "I can't remember the last time I ate…" Alex said, letting out a small burp. His tail started wagging as he felt the hunger lessened for the first time in days. "It's nice to meet you, little guy. My name is Gosha, and this horse here is my partner Yahya. We're Zootopia police officers. Now, why aren't you with your parents?" The Komodo dragon sweetly asked.

Alex's expression soured instantly, and his ears drooped. "They were going to eat me…" Alex sadly said. Yahya told Gosha about what Alex had said. "My word. What kind of monsters would do this to a child?!" Gosha worriedly wondered. "I have an idea on where to start." Yahya responded, and bent down to Alex's level. "What's your name, kid?" Yahya inquired.

"Alex… Wolfgang." The white wolf meekly said, afraid of them not wanting to help him when they discovered he was the son of the meat market's crime lord. Yahya let out an angry whinny, and stood up with a murderous look in his eyes. "Gosha. Take the kid to the hospital. He definitely needs some IV injections, judging by how skinny he is. While he's being treated, I need you to question him, get as much information on what exactly his family did to him. You're a hell of a lot better with kids than I am." Yahya ordered.

That was the day Alex knew that he wanted to be a cop when he grew up.

Present day, six months after the ball-kicking incident between Alex and Judy…

The final day of physical training had arrived for the ZPD academy cadets. It was time for their last run through of the daily exercises. Judy smiled confidently as she looked at her reflection in the mirror. Everything in her life had led up to this moment. And she was not going to squander it! She WILL become a real cop!

Alex was grinning as he met up with her and the other cadets. "Trainees! This is your final day of training. If you pass the exams, you will become a certified, bona fide Zootopia police officer! But if you fail… Well, I'll discuss that if any of you actually do fail. I have the utmost faith in your abilities! Remember the advice that I and the other instructors have given you, and you should pass." Alex announced. Judy nodded her head in agreement and understanding.

Judy performed exceedingly well for her class, and today, she pulled out all the stops. She kept her grip tight on the bridge handles as she swung across the Rainforest District simulation, pushed with all her might against the sandstorm winds of the Sahara Square simulation… However, her best performances were in the Tundratown and large criminal parts of the examination.

During the Tundratown section, Judy didn't even bother trying to climb the ice wall; instead, she used the heads of the other trainees to jump over it! Then there was the fight against the rhinoceros. Judy used the ropes that lined the edges of the boxing ring to launch herself at her opponent and redirect his punch into his face! Alex was proud to name her valedictorian of the class.
