Chapter 20: Blossom Makes A Move/Bringing The Bunny Back

Blossom sat on the couch next to Alex, who was currently lying down watching Kamen Rider. Ever since he had quit the ZPD, the white wolf had done nothing but laze around and watch television. In the weeks following, she knew he had binged most of the Transformers series, several seasons of Super Sentai, and was now focused on Kamen Rider.

It infuriated the skunk that her brother was so despondent and lazy. In her opinion, it was time for her to try to get him to his senses… and confess her feelings for him. "Alex, you know what I think?" Blossom asked, causing Alex's gaze to look at her. "What?" The wolf bleakly asked. "You deserve someone better than that bitch of a bunny! Someone who actually cares about you!" Blossom exclaimed.

Alex smirked. "Ha. That's nice of you to say, Blossom, but who the hell is going to love a wolf like me? Especially now that everyone's afraid of each other? Nick? Pretty sure that fox is straight, and even if he possibly loved me, he's gone off the grid. He was just as devastated as I was by the speech." Alex darkly said.

Blossom sauntered over to Alex, tickling his nose with her tail. "Actually… I was referring to myself." She boldly stated. Alex paused the show to sit up and look at her. "You're joking, I hope." The wolf cautiously said. "I'm perfectly serious! I would be a great girlfriend. I love you more than just as a brother, I always have." Blossom revealed.

Alex bared his fangs at her, causing her to falter. "You!? This is some sick joke. You are my SISTER. I don't give a shit whether you and I are bound by blood or not. You are FAMILY. You've always been family to me, and nothing more. I love you like a sister, not a mate. Maybe some alternate universe where we aren't siblings exists, and maybe in that universe I could date you, but here? You're just my sister. Push those hormone-fueled thoughts out of your mind, because it's not healthy." Alex snarled.

"Fine. You and I could've been happy together. Have fun without a lover. I'll still be your sister." Blossom frostily said before standing up and beginning to leave. "I already lost my chance at happiness when people started to fear carnivores." Alex shot back before Blossom slammed the door.

Infuriated, the skunk punched a wall before stomping to her car. This phase of Alex moping around and doing nothing to help the city had to end. He hadn't lifted a single digit when she told him she had isolated the cause of the predators going savage. Hadn't moved when she told him that the media had been covering up the cause. It was like he wasn't even paying attention to anything other than his shows.

She supposed he was escaping from the cold harsh reality that they were living in. But the city needed heroes. Blossom was a strong believer in the idea that if someone broke something, they should be the one to fix it. Texting Iris that she was going to Bunnyburrow, the skunk jumped in her own police car and sped off towards the nearest exit to Bunnyburrow. The animal who had broken the city apart may be the only thing that could save her brother.

"A dozen carrots. Have a nice day." Judy sighed as she handed a mother and daughter a few carrots rolled up in a newspaper. Depressed, the bunny sunk down and put a paw to her face as she stared downwards. The Zootopia Times headline read, "GROWING UNREST DIVIDES CITY". She thought of Alex and Nick. How could she have ruined their lives like that?!

Her parents walked over to her. "Hey there Jude… Jude the Dude. Remember that one?" Stu Hopps asked. Bonnie Hopps shot him a look that made him falter. "How we doing?" Stu asked in concern. "I'm fine." Judy lied. "You are not fine, your ears are droopy." Bonnie countered. Judy sighed once more.

"Why did I think I could make a difference?" Judy lamented. "Because you're a trier, that's why." Stu brought up. "You've always been a trier." Bonnie agreed with her husband. The former cop gritted her teeth. "Oh, I tried. And I made life so much worse for so many innocent predators." Judy groaned. Out of nowhere, a Zootopia police car came to a screeching halt in front of the Hopps carrot stand.

"You're one hard animal to find, Judith Laverne Hopps." A skunk drawled as she got out of the vehicle. Judy straightened up, confused and suspicious. "Do I… know you?" Judy asked. "We met at the press conference, briefly. I'm Blossom Stenchington. Though you know my brother Alex quite well." The skunk introduced herself.

Bonnie and Stu looked like they were ready to fight if they had to. "Are you here to antagonize our daughter about what she said?" Bonnie asked. "No. I'm here because I need your daughter's help." Blossom angrily said. Judy's ears started to perk up. Someone needed her? Judy hadn't felt needed since she had been a cop. Out here on the farm, the bunny felt like she was simply a burden to her parents and family. They had more than enough paws to help with the farm and business.

"You want me to help you?" Judy slowly said. Blossom nodded. "I think that you are the only animal who can save the city, and save my brother." Blossom revealed. Judy stood up at the mention of Alex needing saving. "What happened to Alex?! Is he in danger?" Judy immediately questioned. Blossom shook her head no before pulling out her phone and showing Judy a picture that hit her with a wave of guilt.

The picture in question was of Alex lying on a couch watching television. The white wolf looked drastically different than the last time Judy had seen him. There were bags under his eyes, his expression was sad and listless, and the rabbit could swear he looked a tiny bit pudgier than he used to.

"Ever since he quit the force he's done nothing but lie down and watch TV. Nothing seems to make him happy. He barely eats, sleeps, or moves around. And though he claims he hates you, I've heard him mumbling in his sleep. He keeps saying your name over and over. I don't know what it is about you, but he really, really cares about you." Blossom frostily said.

"I can go see him, but how does that tie into saving the city?" Judy inquired. Blossom then raised a paw and pointed towards a patch of blue flowers. "The Midnicampum holicithius? We use them to keep the bugs away from our produce, but one time my brother Terry ate one and went crazy!" Bonnie mentioned. "Bit the dickens out of Bonnie here! Scared the bejeezus out of a lot of bunnies here." Stu added.

"When he was dealing with Manchas, he collected a sample of a strange blue substance that was on his neck. I ran several analysis tests on the substance, and I found that it was a heightened and more powerful liquid extract of the Midnicampum holicithius flower. Also referred to as… Night Howler." Blossom revealed. "...A bunny CAN go savage!" Judy exclaimed. Then Judy realized something

"Hold up, if these flowers have been weaponized and are the cause of the savage predators, then why hasn't this information gone public? Surely it would calm the tensions between predator and prey!" Judy wondered. Blossom shook her head. "We've tried. Someone who's in a position of power is covering it up and forcing the media to keep a tight lip on it." Blossom explained.

"We'll figure out a solution on the way back. Let's get back to Zootopia!" Judy cried out. Blossom smiled. The bunny's enthusiasm was quite contagious. The skunk was beginning to understand why her brother had become so transfixed by Judy. Opening the shotgun door for her, Blossom hopped in the driver's seat and the two girls sped off in the ZPD cruiser, heading back to the city where anyone could be anything.
