Liviya's POV

That night I couldn't sleep, no matter how much I repositioned myself. I finally went out onto the balconies to cool myself. I looked up at the hundreds of thousands of stars in the sky. I remembered a song about someone who prayed for something and received it… with a cost.

I lifted my voice in song, it was sweeter than fresh honey, it was now that I realized it was because of my father my voice nearly hypnotized anything that listened, but with no one around it was surely safe to sing to the stars.

"Don't misunderstand me," came my song.

"Wait until the ending

Of an old legend

Telling about a soldier

Who preyed to the stars in the sky

Crying he was begging

Pleading until sunrise

If he could have peace today

'You shall have your peace

Darkness bought but

You will have to promise,'

Said the stars that

'The first child we give you

Shall be ours at once

That's the price you shall pay.

If you sacrifice them

Not to go to war

Then you would barely love them.'

Stars you want to be parents

Yet you can't find a love

So what shall you do?

Tell me silvery stars

What will happen to you

With a small, mortal child?

Son of all the stars light."

The I heard a males voice answering me thus:

"So a child was born to

The young soldier

But he was pale

Like snow in winter

His eyes were not brown

Like they had expected

He was a son of the stars

Stars you want to be parents

Yet you can't find a love

So what shall you do?

Tell me silvery stars

What will happen to you

With a small, mortal child?

Son of all the stars light."

I turned around to see my brother had been the one to answer. I turned to leave him, unsure if he wanted to talk. "Is my company unwelcome?" He asked as I was about to hurry by. "No," I said, a bit nervously. "I was worried about disturbing you."

"You couldn't possibly," he said in surprise. "You are my sister, and I should get to know you." He looked up to the stars and watched them as if they held all the answers. "What shall we do?" I asked him as I approached him again.

"After we help Elrond," Vuki said. "We should present ourselves before Manwë, and beg forgiveness for our bloodline. If it is granted we can return here." "And if not?" "We go to Mordor, and there end shadow forever in the place it was created."

"Very well," I told him. "I shall respect your leading." He looked at me in surprise. "I am not leading," he said. "We are partners, we shall share alike. As friends."

I nodded, a week from tomorrow was the day set for counsel of the fellowship. We could stop every trouble and fix what went wrong.

"Be strong, my sister," Vuki said as he lifted my head up. "All shall be well, no matter what happens. I promise you, however much that means to others. Come, we must have rest before tomorrow." I nodded as he escorted me to my room. "Good night," I said as I walked back inside, he nodded and shut the door behind me.
